Binary File Type in Portal 3.0 Form

Has anyone successfully created a form in 3.0.7 for inserting BLOBs as part of a table record?
I recently observed that the form wizard now includes a binary file field option. WebDB did not support this.
Does this feature allow the blob object to be saved into any table w/o separate DAD management?
Thanks,
James

Surprise Surprise !!!!!!!
I made a copy of the "Oracle Portal Home Page". In that copy, when I switch language to french in any sub page ("Build" page included), It works perfectly !!!!
Can I have explanations of what occued exactly ?
Thanks a lot.

  • Default Apache dbm file type under Portal??

    hi,
I'm trying to find out how Apache was compiled in the default Portal 9.0.2.6 install. In particular, I'm trying to use a hash file in combination with a RewriteMap for mod_rewrite use, but I need to know what type of HashFile Apache was compiled to be able to use.
Does anybody know the default type of db file Apache under Portal expects, or where I might find this information documented?
    thanks....

Just for closure this issue has been resolved now. I did not change my PC, just reverted back to using XP for a while. Tried again on Win7 recently and the vids play back perfectly fine. Update from windows rather than adobe may have fixed it as Idid not recall an adobe update being installed.

  • Handling RAW data types (from SAP) in Adobe forms - Illegal Arg Exception

    Hi,
I have a scenario where I have to get data of type RAW in SAP to Adobe Forms using web dynpro java. What is the corresponding type in Web Dynpro / Adobe Forms.
I am using Adaptive RFC and when I get the model from SAP function module, the RAW type is created as Binary type in the data dictionary of Web Dynpro.
When I map the model context to controller context, the type is taken as byte[].
I tried to set the attribute for this field and I got the Illegal Argument Exception error.
I am using NWDS 7.0.9 and NW04s SP12. Pl help. I am working on this since 10 days but could get no solution.
The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:
    <b>java.lang.IllegalArgumentException</b>
    at com.sap.dictionary.runtime.DdTypeBinary.format(DdTypeBinary.java:60)
    at com.sap.dictionary.runtime.DdTypeBinary.toString(DdTypeBinary.java:64)
    at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.data.DataContainer.doFormat(DataContainer.java:1405)
    at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.data.DataContainer.getAndFormat(DataContainer.java:1098)
    at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientimpl.xdp.renderer.data.XfdRenderer.renderAttributes(XfdRenderer.java:370)
    ... 41 more

Issue with the RAW data types is resolved now. I have changed the data type of the field into String in the dictionary (web dynpro).. I have changed the corresponding getters and setter functions from byte[] to string. And everything working fine now. I got the Illegal Argument exception initially because I was trying to display the binary data type fields on the adobe form or view which I am not supposed to do.
Also it is better to create separate view attributes in the context to get the values rather than mapping the model attributes directly in the form or view.
    Thank you one and all.

  • Multi Part File Type?

I am working on uploading documents.
What is a Multi Part file, what other file types are there.
Can someone please point me to a document which talks about different file types.
    bib

Once you switch your form enctype attribute, the standard Servlet API no longer returns values for getParameter() et al. FileUpload from the Jakarta Commons (http://jakarta.apache.org/) will allow you to handle a form with this encoding type.

  • Multiple file upload in jsp with out using FILE type filed.

I have an applet that is used for multiple file selection, It allows drag and drop functionality also. The problem is once the user selects multiple files it has to get uploaded to the server. Since its not part of a file type component while submitting the form we wont get the file contents.
We can use multipart api for uploading files, but if the file selected by the user is not by the file type filed the file contents wont come as part in the jsp submission and I cant assign the file names selected by the user through the applet to any FILE (hidden ) type in jsp .

you can very well get non-file type field data & file item data from a multipart form.
Anyways,Letz checkout a simple example(refer to the below Code-snippet down below) which can do that task for us and it uses commons-fileupload & commons-io libraries.

  • Submit into ABAP repository failed (binary file)

    Hi,
im working with eclipse / sapui5 extension. i really like it. everything works fine.
    exceptional case:
"try to submit a ".cur" file"
    Synchronization failed
File WebContent/img/openhand.cur could not be submitted
End of line marker not supported, please use CR+LF: WebContent/img/openhand.cur
What? "I should add CR-LF to a binary file?" ... why? The CR-LF on textfiles is incomprehensible for me, but on
binary i cannot understand at all.
If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

    Hi,
the solution to submit not currently as binary defined files to abap repository is:
define your fileextension in ecplise as "binary" as documented in the sapui5 sdk docs.
    SAPUI5 SDK - Demo Kit
"Submitting the SAPUI5 Application Project to the SAPUI5 Repository"
When using the team provider the file type is determined based on the Eclipse preferences.
If you submit binary files and submit fails due to "End of line marker not supported" error,
the binary file type is probably not registered as binary.
To change that in Eclipse go to Window → Preferences and then to Team → File Content and register the binary file type as type binary."
    like this...
    faithfully... Danilo.

  • Multipart/form-data using HTTPService, sending a binary file and some text in the same request.

    Hi There,
I am new to FLEX and also new to writing a client for a web service.
My question is more about flex (Flash builder 4.5) APIs, what APIs to use.
I want to access a web service, that's published here.
    https://build.phonegap.com/docs/write_api
here is the description of webservice
    ===========
    1) I have to do a post on POST https://build.phonegap.com/api/v1/apps
    2) content type has to be "multipart/form-data"
    3) JSON bodies of requests are expected to have the name 'data'
data will be someting like this
    'data={"title":"API V1 App","package":"com.alunny.apiv1","version":"0.1.0","create_method":"file"}'
    4) include a zip file in the multipart body of your post, with the parameter name 'file'.
    ===========
I want to make a 'multipart/form-data' Post and send
one string and one zip file.
My first question to self was If i send both string + binary data in the body ...
how will server understand where string end and where zip file starts?
    Then read on W3.org( http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/forms.html#h-17.13.4.2 )
How is text + binary data can be sent through "multipart/form-data" post requst.
there has to be some boundries.
After this I read and example in flex and  tried following it.
    http://codeio.wordpress.com/2010/04/03/5-minutes-on-adobe-flex-mimic-file-upload-for-in-me mory-contents/
but it doesn't seems to be working for me.

In the past I have used URLVariables with URLRequest and URLLoader to achieve this kind of requirement.
Check out http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=17_Networking_and_communications_3 .html which should be useful. My preference has always been to use this style instead of HTTPService objects, giving you a little more control which is what you need here.
Let me know if you need any more assistance.

  • Reading a binary file using the type cast function is not working

    Hello
I am trying to read a binary file.  Using the Read from binary file and type cast functions I can actually get the information from the file.
I set an indicator in the “Normal” option in Properties. I can read the header and footer but not the body of the file; For the body of the file all I can see is characters of the type
“C¾ Ü Qþ  X@ “. One of the other options, Password, seems to provide an output of just the characters that were originally written, but then again, I can not read the characters because it is only asterisks and I can not copy them onto a word processor either.
I tried setting the indicator in Hexadecimal mode, then creating a local variable that acts as a control and use the type cast function again to see if  could convert the Hexadecimal string to readable ASCII characters; unfortunately, this did not work either.
I don’t know what else I should try or if there is something that I may not be doing right and for that reason I am not getting the desired results. I hope someone has an idea about this issue.
    Regards,
    Roberto

    Thank you for your reply,
Well, actually I don’t have any information about this file. I will try to obtain information about it though.
This is a file that contains velocity information; there are 65 channels that form a velocity profile in a pipe. Also, there are 4096 velocity profiles. I don’t know what is the format of these values.
The software that creates the file provides a text file. Using this text file the velocity information can be processed and then plotted.
I want to avoid all these intermediate steps and read, process and plot everything using only LabView. BTW, I am using LabView 8.2

  • Is there a way to save a form, once filled out, as a different file type in Reader?

I have Acrobat, my coworkers only have Reader. Company won't purchase Acrobat for the other employees.
I built a form for my coworkers to fill out. We need them to be able to send the filled out form to clients, but we don't want the clients to be able to edit the forms.
I understand people with only Reader can't flatten the document, or add a password, or save it as non editable. As I understand it, even with Acrobat I can't assign a password for Reader users to be able to edit or not edit a file (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong on that one).
Is there any way to save the PDF form once it's been filled out (in Reader) as a different file type? Even an image? The file we send to clients doesn't have to be a PDF. Just something that most people can open.
I tried inserting the PDF into a word document (unreadably pixelated) and tried taking a snapshot of the entire page (resolution too low). I've tried downloading one of the free PDF writers and it apparently won't work with our network security (or something along those lines). I've tried using the pdf writer for Firefox on the form once it was filled out, and that won't work either because our network firewall seems to be blocking it and that's not something they are willing to take down.
    Any advice?

The signature WILL work! I've just looked into it more, thank you so much for pointing me in that direction.
I get it now, it locks the form fields in place after my coworker fills them in and signs it (as the very last step).
I wish I would have asked on here a full day ago. Would have saved a lot of headache and Googling.
    Thanks again.

  • How can I read a binary file stream with many data type, as with AcqKnowledge physio binary data file?

I would like to read in and write physiological data files which were saved by BioPacs AcqKnowledge 3.8.1 software, in conjunction with their MP150 acquisition system. To start with, Id like to write a converter from different physiodata file format into the AcqKnowledge binary file format for version 3.5 3.7 (including 3.7.3). It will allow us to read different file format into an analysis package which can only read in file written by AcqKnowledge version 3.5 3.7 (including 3.7.3).
I attempted to write a reader following the Application Note AS156 entitled AcqKnowledge File Format for PC with Windows (see http://biopac.com/AppNotes/ app156Fi
leFormat/FileFormat.htm ). Note the link for the Mac File format is very instructive too - it is presented in a different style and might make sense to some people with C library like look (http://biopac.com/AppNotes/ app155macffmt/macff.htm).
I guess the problem I had was that I could not manage to read all the different byte data stream with File.vi. This is easy in C but I did not get very far in LabView 7.0. Also, I was a little unsure which LabView data types correspond to int, char , short, long, double, byte, RGB and Rect. And, since it is for PC I am also assuming the data to be written as little endian integer, and thus I also used byte swap vi.
Two samples *.acq binary files are attach to this post to the list. Demo.acq is for version 3.7-3.7.2, while SCR_EKGtest1b.acq was recorded and saved with AcqKnowledge 3.8.1, which version number is 41.
I would be grateful if you someone could explain how to handle such binary file stream with LabView and send an example to i
    llustrate it.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

The reading of double is also straight forward : just use a dble float wired to the type cast node, after inverting the string (indian conversion).
    See the attached example.
The measure of skin thickness is based on OCT (optical coherent tomography = interferometry) : an optical fiber system send and received light emitted to/back from the skin at a few centimeter distance. A profile of skin structure is then computed from the optical signal.

Please try to define a reproducible test case. Is this happening in all content area? Is it happening with all files, or only particular ones? What platform are you running on? What version of the database are you using?
Have you checked your repository for invalid objects? If any exist, please try to recompile them.

  • Writing binary files & trouble with no unsigned byte type

I've got a fair amount of Java experience, enough to know what I'm doing most of the time but I do have a vast experience with C & C++ which helps my Java. I've stumbled across a problem when trying to write out files in binary.
If I was to write out a binary file, I would always choose C/C++ to do this because simply because I'm at ease with the implementation.
I've now written a Java program which needs to output a file in binary and I'm having real issues doing the most simple things because of no unsigned support.
I want to write out elements byte-by-byte and make use of the 8-bits provided in the byte type in Java.
Let's assume I've done my processing and I end up with an int. I know that this int is 0-255 in value. I now want to pack it into a byte and write it to my file. How do I go about assigning the byte without Java 'converting' it to a signed byte? I simply want to copy the lower 8-bits of the int and duplicate them into the byte variable - no conversion.
In C you would do something like this:
    char mySignedChar = *( (char*)&(unsigned char)myInt ) );
What's the Java equivalent? Am I going about this the right way?

Whether a byte is signed or unsigned only matters if one is doing arithmetic on it. If the int is 0-255 then you just cast to a byte using
byte theByte = (byte)theIntValue; When reading back you just use
    int theByteAsAnInt = theByte & 0xff;

How do one can upload a file (a PDF, doc etc) while filling a web form through chrome or safari? It is possible to upload a photo from the camera role, but other file types can not be uploaded.

For a variety of reasons, mostly related to security, the iOS operating system limits what can be done with respect to file uploading and downloading. But whenever you encounter a limitation like this always think, "There must be an app for this."

  • Iconic buttons - does file type in Forms 6i have to be .ico?

In Forms 6i, does the file type for an icon to be displayed on a button have to be .ico? We are thinking of having our buttons re-done by a design firm and will be going to Forms 9i sometime next year. It would be nice if we could use the same files for 9i as we need right now for 6i.
I have some other questions too from our marketing guy:
    1) I'm asking a design firm for a quote to convert them from button-looking 1980's things to Windows-looking icons. When the user mouseovers the icon, it would appear as a button (like in all MS apps), and when they have no use, they would appear greyed out. Does Oracle support the mouseover state?
    2) Can you put a grey pipe between groups of similar icons, like in MS apps?
    3) Any special concerns or issues with having icons with the word appearing to the right of the icon ?
    4) How about the grey line that appears under the menu names and on top of the toolbar icons (the separator line) - can you paint that line in Oracle Forms 6i? What about 9i?
    Thanks.

All of my answers apply to 6i as we haven't used 9i yet...
    1) Yes for menu toolbar buttons. Don't know otherwise. If you run the forms over the web (i.e. not client/server), and you set the application's "lookAndFeel" property in 9iAS to the correct value ("generic" I think), then each button will be grey until you fly the mouse over it. If you use the "oracle" lookAndFeel, then the buttons are always colored, and you get fly-over text when you park the mouse over a button.
    2) Yes. If you put the toolbar icons in a menu (.mmb/.mmx) module then you can group them between "separator" menu items. Be sure to set the properties so that they appear in the toolbar.
    3) I don't know if that's possible for toolbar icons. For regular buttons in a form, I believe you have to paint the text in the button icon.
    4) If you use the "oracle" lookAndFeel, then the toolbar is visibly separated from the menubar. If you use "generic", then the menu and toolbar share a common grey area.

  • Changing oaj2se.exe binary file for form operations

    Hi,
When you open the form service in R12.1.3, you encounter a page with the following message.
In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete.
If you need the newer version - let's say 1.6.0.10 - than 1.6.0.07. Then, going through click here will give still the old binary file.
For this kind of cases, it would be good if the binary file just gives the latest one when clicked to download j2se plugin.
    So, here the questions come.
    Q1.
Is it safe to replace the old binary file with the latest jre file from Oracle site?
    Q2.
How can this be done? I mean, where is the location and is it ok just to replace the binary file?
Does anyone have any idea on this?
    Thanks,
