Binded fields associated with separate Web Service requests

Hi,
I'm attempting to create a Data Connection that allows the user to select from approximately 2000 attributes. Presently, my web service operation request takes in an ID value and returns an object encapsulating these 2000 attributes.
If for example I have a "firstName" attribute is it possible to have 2 instances of this field on my form but associated with different request IDs?
If so, how do I go about this?
Thanks.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure I'm grasping this fully.
I see if I drag on 2 firstName fields onto the form that one has an instance number of 0 and the other an instance number of 1.
But as these fields both belong to the same Web Service operation then surely they will contain the same values on population when the response is returned?
I want them to contain different values, say "David" if the workItemID in the request is 245 and "John" if the workItemID in the request is 467 etc.
Is it possible to configure this approach? Just want to clarify this.

  • How to bind list data to XML Web service request

    How do I bind specific columns in a DataGrid to the Web
    service request? I'm having trouble finding any documentation that
    addresses that specific pattern, i.e. sending a complex list to the
    server via a Flex Web service send() command. I'm fairly new to
    Flex programming and don't know if what I want to do is possible.
    Here what I've been able to do so far.
    1. Using a Web service called a service on the server and
    retrieved a complex list.
    2. Poplulated a DataGrid with the result
    3. The user has selected multiple rows from the DataGrid
    using a checkbox column
    4. The user pressed a button that calls a Web service send().
    This Web service should only send data from only two columns and
    only for those rows the user has checked.
    5. I can loop over the DataGrid and find the selected rows
    and put them in another ArrayCollection called 'selectedRows'.
    The issue is that I don't know how to bind 'selectedRows' to
    the Web service. Right now I'm reading up on "Working with XML" in
    the Programming with ActionScript 3.0 chapter. But I'm just fishing
    here. No bites yet.

    Don't bind. Build the request object programatically, as you
    are doing with your selectedRows AC, and send(myObject) that.

  • AIR doesn't terminate with pending web service requests

    I'm using webservices via the wsdl import tool in the Flex
    Builder 3.0.2. So far, I'm able to make requests to the webserver
    and get data from it successfully. The app is basically polling
    data from the server and when the server gets data, it sends it to
    the AIR client. As a Flex app inside the browser, the browser
    terminates fine. However, when I move the app to AIR, adl.exe never
    terminates, even when I call nativeApplication.exit(0), explicitly.
    (I noticed this issue when my machine started to thrash with 10
    adl.exe running simultaneously.)
    Am I not calling exit correctly? Or is this a bug in AIR?

    Whenever I've seen this, I had a window that was not visible

    reason (like an error before when I made it visible), it
    never became
    visible and so was not possible to terminate.

  • Designer beginner's question: How to populate form with XML web service output?

    sorry, here is yet another Adobe Designer beginners question: <br /><br />My form uses a webservice data connection which returns <br />an xml-string like this: <br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <br /><CurrentWeather> <br />  <Location>Sion, Switzerland (LSGS) 46-13N 007-20E 481M</Location> <br />  <Time>Apr 26, 2007 - 09:50 AM EDT / 2007.04.26 1350 UTC</Time> <br />  <Wind> from the WSW (240 degrees) at 15 MPH (13 KT):0</Wind> <br />  <Visibility> greater than 7 mile(s):0</Visibility> <br />  <SkyConditions> partly cloudy</SkyConditions> <br />  <Temperature> 80 F (27 C)</Temperature> <br />  <DewPoint> 46 F (8 C) </DewPoint> <br />  <RelativeHumidity> 30%</RelativeHumidity> <br />  <Pressure> 29.88 in.     The question is still unanswered!
    Let me give some details and break up the problem
    in more specific questions:
    - In Designer 8.1 I click new data binding --> wsdl -->
    http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx?wsdl
    A message box comes up and says "cannot load wsdl file"
    ==> 1. Question:
    Why maybe refuses Designer to load the http-wsdl,
    although this option is explicitly allowed?
    - When I save the wsdl to a file, Designer loads it
    without any problems. The web service uses two input parameters
    (CountryName and CityName) and returns an xml-string GetWeatherResult)
    like the one in my first posting. I drag these fields from the binding view to my form, and it runs ok!
    - THE PROBLEM IS, THAT I NEET TO EXTRACT THE ELEMENT FIELDS
    FROM THE RESULT XML-STRING!
    ==> 2. Question:
    How to extract xml element fields from wsdl output into a form?
    - I tried with eclipse and XmlSpy to build a modified wsdl file
    with structured output definition, so that the specific element fields
    show up in the data binding view and are usable to my form,
    and the modified wsdl maps consistently to the web service result string.
    So far without success: In the PDF -preview or Reader-
    when the wsdl-binding is executed and the web service output
    should show up in the result fields, just nothing happens.
    ==> 3. Question:
    Can this strategy to provide a "modified wsdl" possibly succeed,
    and how?
    ==> 4. Question:
    Is is possible -and how?- to check whether an xml string
    is valid as web service output against the wsdl-definition?
    ==> 5. Question:
    How to debug a web service connection with Designer?
    - Finally I tried to find a way to load the result xml-string
    into a local var in the script editor and parse it, much like:
    var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM");
    xmlDoc.load(DataSet.MyForm.GetWeatherResult.rawValue);
    ==> 6. Question:
    Is it possible -and how?- to use a framework like dotnet?
    How to utilize SAX or DOM in Designer?
    Many thanks and appreciations for your help!!

  • Basic auth with RESTful WEb service and Web Service reference

    Hi, All,
    We have made much progress on getting an application working wtih RESTful web services but now are trying to figure out how to lock down a RESTful Web service while making it available for a particular application.
    We are using one of the sample 'emp' table web services that come with Apex 4.2 and are trying to apply Basic Auth to the WEb Service via Weblogic filter defined in the web.xml file. That works fine. I now get challenged when I try to go to :
    https://wlogic.edu/apex/bnr/ace/hr/empinfo/
    And when I authenticate to that challenge I am able to get the data. (we are usiing LDAP authentication at the Weblogic level)
    However, I am not sure how to get same basic authentication to work with the Web Service reference in my application. I see the error message in the application when I try to call that Web Service:
    401--Unauthorized<
    And I see:
    "The request requires user authentication. The response MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field (section 14.46) containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). If the request already included Authorization credentials"
    How do I provide the credentials in the Web REference or do I provide credentials in the Application?
    Web service works fine if I remove the RESTful web service basic auth from the Web.xml file.
    Should we NOT use Weblogic basic auth and instead use basic auth from Workspace RESTful web service definition. If so, how do we implement THAT basic auth in the Web Service definition and in the Web SErvice Reference on the application?
    Thanks,
    Pat

  • Permissions Web Service Requests

    Okay, I'm moving from "Groups" to "Permissions".
    This post is just an FYI…not sure it's a bug or a feature…or even a little bit of both at the same time.
    In the "Permissions" web service requests (AddPermission, etc.) if you do not specify either a ParentHandle or ParentPath, the web service request is applied to your site root. You can still use a single forward slash as ParentPath for "root"…it has the same effect as leaving ParentPath and ParentHandle empty.
    If I recall correctly, most requests that take either a handle or path will return an error if neither is specified. I think this may be one of a small subset of requests that assumes "root" if both are missing.

    More notes on permissions…again, I think things work as intended, but I thought I'd mention this tidbit in the event that it might be useful to others.
    MergePermission can only work with an existing permission (access-level/credential pair)…this is as expected. If you try to "merge" a permission for a credential which does not exist, or if you do not specify a credential, you get an error saying that MergePermission cannot find the target credential. In effect, MergePermission changes the access-level for any permission it can find by-way-of an existing credential.
    Similarly, you cannot ask MergePermission to change the form of a credential. For example, you cannot use MergePermission to "change the credential whose associated access-level is 'Download' from 'Test@urn:mace…' to 'Student@urn:mace…'." MergePermission must always find that a target credential exists.
    However, when dealing with an existing permission, there is no effective difference between AddPermission and MergePermission. That is, if you add a permission whose credential already exits, then you overwrite it as-if you had merged it. Again, this works as expected. A "student", say, cannot have both "Downlaod" and "No Access" within the same iTunes U page. The only warning I would give is that AddPermission can act destructively…you are not warned, when using it, that if the permission you wish to add corresponds to a permission which already exists, then that permission will be overwritten.

  • GET, Modify, POST XML from Web Service Requests (Webtests)

    I'm using load testing to exercise an API, so I'm creating many small webtests which mimic typical user operations.  One of my operations will be a GET of transaction data and a PUT of that same data, slightly modified.
    I'm able to capture the response from the GET in an extraction rule and resubmit to the API, the question is how to manipulate the XML so that there's a small typical edit.   What's the best way to do this?
    I understand the nature of the web test plug-ins, as the "cartilage" around the bones of the webservice requests.  I would much rather angle towards a plugin than convert to a coded test and modify that way.  I like the normal non-coded
    test interface but I dont know that the webtest plugin nor webtest request gives me the granularity the coded webtest does.  Unfortunately, I dont like the fact I can't easily debug through the coded webtest.
    This seems like a straightforward operation. Do I understand all my options? How would you do this?

    On further review, I might have figured this out.  I misunderstood something I read online.  The web test request plug-ins can be associated with an individual service call and aren't automatically applied to all service calls in a web performance
    test collection.
    .. I can do something like this to access my captured context information and manipulate the XML via XDocument/XElement.   - This demonstrates how to get my captured {{ResponseDocument}} from the extraction rule.
        public class XmlModification : WebTestRequestPlugin
            public override void PreRequest(object sender, PreRequestEventArgs e)
                MessageBox.Show(e.WebTest.Context["ResponseDocument"].ToString());

  • Error by sending a Web Service request

    Hi,
    we generated a WSDL from an outbound-interface and build a web application with it. When we send a Web Service request to SAP-XI from our Web Dynpro client application, we get an error "CALL_CONSUMER_ERROR" (of category "XI_J2EE_MESSAGING_SYSTEM"). We find the following entry in the message-log of the adapter engine:
    Error: Return of synchronous errormessage to the calling application: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: java.lang.RuntimeException: Error while silently connecting: org.w3c.www.protocol.http.HttpException: iaik.security.ssl.SSLException: Server certificate rejected by ChainVerifier.

    does anybody know, how to solve this problem?
    Greetings
    Hildegard

    Hi Stefan,
    correct certificates are established in the meantime and the error-message in the adapterlog has changed. The errorcode still remains "CALL_CONSUMER_ERROR" of category "XI_J2EE_MESSAGING_SYSTEM".
    Adapter-log:
    Error: Return of synchronous errormessage to the calling application: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: java.lang.RuntimeException: Error while silently connecting: org.w3c.www.protocol.http.HttpException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused.

    Are there missing any more permissions or is this another error in the configuration?
    Regards
    Hildegard

  • Problem with RESTful web service

    I am running into a problem with Flex Web Services (REST) in trying to get the proper format returned. I can see that the HTTP header is set to
    Accept: */*;
    rather than
    Accept: application/xml
    when sending the request. The web service was generated via the web services HTTP data services wizard. I edited it to set the resultFormat to xml
        // Constructor
        public function _Super_UsersService()
            // initialize service control
            _serviceControl = new mx.rpc.http.HTTPMultiService();
             var operations:Array = new Array();
             var operation:mx.rpc.http.Operation;
             var argsArray:Array;
             operation = new mx.rpc.http.Operation(null, "getUsers");
             operation.url = "http://localhost:8888/users";
             operation.contentType = "";
             operation.method = "GET";
             operation.resultFormat = "xml";
             //operation.serializationFilter = serializer0;
             operation.properties = new Object();
             operation.properties["xPath"] = "/";
             operation.resultType = valueObjects.Users;
             operations.push(operation);
             _serviceControl.operationList = operations;
             model_internal::initialize();
    How does one configure the accept header?

    Hi,
    I have posted a simple application with the RESTful reference:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=13758
    I can give you full privileges on this so you can look at the WEB service reference. Shall I send to you separately for login user?
    It is using the RESTful service: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/nd_pat_miller/demo/employee/{deptno}
    This RESTful service tests fine when I test from within the RESTful web service module of the Workspace.
    I based this on the Video demo tutorial for RESTful web service that Oracle published for 4.2 release. The video seemed to exclude the {deptno} in the URL but when I try that, it doesn't work either.
    This is the error I am getting when I run this on my Apex environment: (it, of course, will not run the web service in the apex.oracle.com environment)
    class="statusMessage">Bad Request</span>
    </h3>
    </div>

  • Web service request formatting problem

    I'm trying to create a few interfaces to work with some web services that we have published within our organization. Creating the web service reference seems to go fine. We had to work through the details of getting that working over SSL and we seem to have gotten past that hurdle.
    Problem is that when I either test the web service reference through the testing page of the Apex app builder or attempt to call the web service from a page built on the web service reference I'm getting an error indicating that the XML of the SOAP request isn't properly formatted. Specifically, it seems that Apex is inserting an extra double-quote at the end of each element tag for all the input parameters.
    So I have this:
    <SOAP-ENV:Header><ns1:parameters xmlns:ns1="urn:GetIncidentTest"><ns1:userName">
    Notice the double-quote at the end of the userName element tag.
    The error message says:
    Element type "ns1:userName" must be followed by either attribute specifications, ">" or "/>".
    So it's seeing the double-quote where it's not expected/supposed to be and returning an error.
    It would seem to me that Apex must be putting that extra double-quote in there at request time, since the web service definition (the WSDL) seems to return all the proper parameters all neatly layed out in the testing page and any other pages I build off the service definition.
    Anyone got any ideas on this?
    Earl

    Jeff,
    That text() thing came from the Oracle magazine example. I've been looking in the documentation for an explanation of what it's for but haven't had any luck finding anything yet.

    Is that any more help? Sorry I'm such a noob with the XML stuff. I was hoping to avoid this level of detail by using the WSDL, but we already know that story. Thanks.

  • HTTP Web Service Request

    Using C#, I am trying to access my OnDemand account using https POST web service requests. Since I am new to this whole Siebel WS thing, I decided to try the easiest WS request: CurrentUser.
    My request URL is
    https://secure-ausomxaxa.crmondemand.com/Services/Integration/CurrentUser;jsessionid=xxxxxxx
    The SOAP payload is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <soap:Body>
    <CurrentUserWS_CurrentUserQueryPage_Input xmlns="urn:crmondemand/ws/currentuser">
    <ListOfCurrentUser xmlns="urn:/crmondemand/xml/currentuser">
    <CurrentUser>
    </CurrentUser>
    </ListOfCurrentUser>
    </CurrentUserWS_CurrentUserQueryPage_Input>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>
    When I send this request, I get an error status 400. Bad Request.
    Thanks

    Try adding a forward slash at the end of "urn:crmondemand/ws/currentuser". I think that's how it is in the generic WSDL.
    Also, if you don't specify any fields between <CurrentUser> and </CurrentUser>, you won't get any fields back (once your request succeeds, that'll be your next problem).
    Also, if you get HTTP status 400, reading the body of the HTTP response will get you a long way towards understanding what's wrong. It should contain a detailed error message.

    Hi,
    I am unable to connect to
    http://hostname:81/Orchestrator2012/Orchestrator.svc/ in IE and am getting the same error while creating the connector.
    I can connect to orchestrator via http://hostname:81/ but it still gives me the same error when I create the connector (Cannot connect Service Manager with Orchestrator Web Service).
    anyone seen it before?

  • Debugging my Web Service Request

    Hi,
    I am trying to use standard WS tools (like soapUI) to consume the CW14 WS.
    The first operation I call is Authentication – login.
    I get a good response (“true”) and a “set cookie” back in the soap header.
    I am using this cookie in every Request that follows, to authenticate the session.
    Note 1: if I use a wrong cookie, or set it up incorrectly, I get a “session not authenticated” response, so I know I’m doing it write when I do.
    Now I am trying to call a simple operation like ReadProjects.
    The WSDL for ReadProjects has a set of restrictions on values I am allowed to pass, and I follow them.
    Note 2: there are some mismatches, where for example <Field> can be A,B or C (according to the restrictions in the WSDL) but if I use A, I get a “wrong field value” response. I found that I have to use lower case  (‘a’) instead.
    To make the operation simple, I do as suggested in the documentation and WSDL restriction, and I pass the minimum amount of arguments required ex:
    <Field>title</Field>
    <Filter>ProjectName=MyProjName </Filter>
    Seems like no matter what I try, I get back “error: general error” as a response.
    Any help solving this and getting me on the right path, would be simply amazing.

    No that did not fix the problem, I still get that error
    Web Service Request Failed
    The following fault was returned from the web service call:
    Code          Server.NoService
    String          The AXIS engine could not find a target service to invoke! targetService is rpc/webtopsession
