Binding expressions and collections

<quote>
In addition to being able to read the initial value of a field from an object, value binding expressions can also be used to navigate maps, lists, or arrays. Here are some examples:
#{foo[bar]}
#{foo["bar"]}
#{foo[3]}
#[foo[3].bar}
#{foo.bar[3]}
</quote>
Could anyone explain how does it work ? Is foo is always bean ?
Isn't #{foo["bar"]} identical to #{foo.bar}
Also in "Core JSF" they say #{foo.bar[3]} doesn't work if bar indexed property of a bean.
<anotherquote>
The syntax of a method binding expression has two primary formats:
#{expr-a.value-b}
#{expr-a[value-b]}
The first format is a classic DOM-style object tree structure. The second format can be used to call a method pointed to from an object array, Map, or List.
</anotherquote>
The same question how to use the second form.

An expression is a little piece of softwaremuch like a scriptthat evaluates to a single value for a single layer property at a specific point in time. Whereas scripts tell an application to _do_ something, an expression says that a property _is_ something.
With expressions, you can create relationships between layer properties and use the keyframes of one property to dynamically animate other layers. For example, you can use the pick whip to link path properties, so a mask can take its path from a brush stroke or a shape layer object.
The expression language is based on the standard JavaScript language, but you do not need to know JavaScript to use expressions. You can create expressions by using the pick whip or by copying simple examples and modifying them to suit your needs.

  • Regular Expressions and Collections

    Is it possible to use refular expressions when validating collection items?
    I have a loop that checks collection values for null, not null etc. I would also like to validate the format of some text fields in the same collection loop.
    i.e.
    for i in 1..htmldb_application.g_f02.count
    loop
    if
    replace(htmldb_application.g_f07(i), 'NULL',NULL) is null
    and TO_NUMBER(NVL(htmldb_application.g_f02(i), 0)) > 0
    THEN
    return 'A Demand Quantity Value Must Be Specified.';
    elsif
    -- check htmldb_application.g_f07(i) is correctly formatted using Reg Expressions
    then
    return 'Reg Expression error text goes here';
    end if;
    end loop;
    Regards
    Duncan

    Well, the obvious answer is "only write the data to the database if the input doesn't match the regular expression."
    Presumably you're really asking how to do that - but it depends upon how your application is structured in the first place, and you haven't told us anything at all about that.

  • ADF Groovy Expression with bind variable and ResourceBundle

    Now I have ViewObject which have WHERE clause with bind variable.
    This bind variable is for language. Within bind variable I can change Value Type to Expression and into Value: I put +(ResourceBundle.getBundle("model.ModelBundle")).getString("language")+.
    Now if I run Oracle Business Component Browser (on AppModule) this works. In my ModelBundle.properties there is language=1 name-value pair. And with different locale I have different language number.
    Now if I put that ViewObject on one JSF, this bind variable expression does not work any more. Error:
    *oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.util.MissingResourceException, msg=Can't find bundle for base name model.ModelBundle, locale my_locale*
    Any ideas?

    The most wierd thing is that, if I make ViewObjectImpl and insert this method
    public String getLanguage() {
    return (ResourceBundle.getBundle("model.ModelBundle")).getString("language");
    and call it in Bind Variable Expression Value: viewObject.getLanguage()
    IT WORKS!
    But why with groovy expression it does not work?

  • How To: Use Visual Studio, IIS Express, and Adobe Edge Inspect to view local projects

    You CAN view a Visual Studio project with Adobe Inspect. The work around takes a little bit of time.
    This involves using IIS Express to run your Visual Studio project, which is mainly a setting in Visual Studio, a Firewall change, a few command line and IIS Express config change.  It isn't actually all that bad, but will make your life A LOT easier.
    Here are the steps. (Note these are steps I used for Visual Studio 2012 and your project is part of a solution project.  Windows 7 or Windows 8)
    1. If IIS in not turned on, turn it on.How to: Enable Internet Information Services (IIS) - this should install IIS Express as well.
    2. In Visual Studio, find the port that Visual Studio will be using for your project by Running your web project (Debug), and note/write down/save the port number that shows up in the browser when the project launches. (ex.  http://localhost:12345)
    3. Add a NetShare Reservation (process for this will be different for Windows XP)
    Go to your Command Line (CMD) in Windows and in c:\Windows\system32> type in
    netsh http add urlacl url=http://yourIPaddress:yourPortNumber user=everyone
    (ex. netsh add urlacl url=http://12.34.56.78:12345 user=everyone)
    Hit Enter key. You should be a successful add reservation message
    3. Go to your Windows Explorer (File system) and go to c:/Users/YourName/MyDocuments (or Documents)/IISExpress/config/ and open 'applicationhost.config'
    In the 'applicationhost.config' file find your site in the <sites> section.
    Example:
    <sites>
    <site name="WebSite1" id="1" serverAutoStart="true">
                    <application path="/">
                        <virtualDirectory path="/" physicalPath="C:\MyProjects\TestSite" />
                    </application>
                    <bindings>
                        <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation=":12345:localhost" />
                    </bindings>
                </site>
    </sites>
    In this section ADD 2 new lines to the <bindings> section. Note add your own IP address and your own Computer Name
    <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:12345:12.34.56.78" />
    <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation=":12345:MyComputerName" />
    Save the config file.
    4. Open up your Windows Firewall and go to 'Advanced Settings'. Here you want to create an Inbound Rule.
    Right click on Inbound Rule and select New Rule
    - Rule Type select 'Custom'
    - Program leave this
    - Protocol and Ports > Protocol Type select 'TCP' then Local Port select 'Specific Port' and fill in the port number you got from VS.  Leave Remote Port alone.
    - Scope
    There are a few ways of doing this. Typically you would go the the Remote IP address and select 'These IP addresses: and select ADD > select 'Predefined set of computers' and choose Local Subnet.  IF this does not work leave Remote IP addresses > Any IP address option selected instead.
    - Action leave this
    - Profile select Domain and Private
    - Name put IISExpressWeb for the name
    Select 'Finish'
    5. Go to Visual Studio. (Note if you have multiple projects in your solution, choose your start up project. Right click on your project in Solution Explorer in VS and select 'Set as Start Up Project' )
    Right click on your start up project again and you should see an option to 'Use IISExpress'
    In the DEBUG dropdown (from the main menu bar at the top) select 'YourProjectName Properties'. Mine was the last one in the list with a wrench icon next to it.
    This should open an new tab in your project, You should see a left hand list of option and a right hand column of options.
    In the left column select 'Web' and in this tab select Use Local IIS Web server and select 'Use IIS Express' and type in your IP Address and port number (same as before) in the Project Url text box.
    Save.
    NOW, you should be able to run your project in Visual Studio and use Adobe Edge Inspect on your device and view new results in Chrome. You can develop from there.
    If you still can not see it working, please be sure your device is on the same SubNet or Wireless network as your computer.  If you are in a large network but the domains can still see each other, the Firewall Setting detailed above to allow Any IP Address in your Scope section.

    well, i figured out the problem so thought to share with all aswell.
    all i changed was the name of the variable from mDept to dept.
    java beans has its own set of rules and naming conventions which i have not read much about but this problem had to do sumthing with that!
    just changing the name simply works fine!

  • Use field value in xml binding expression

    Hi all.
    I'm trying to access dropdownlist selected value from a binding expression.
    I have a dropdownlist called rooms which is bound to some XML data. When the selection changes I woud like to access that value in another dropdownlist called members which is also bound to some XML data.
    The expression I tried is:
    $record.room.[roomname==$form.company.mainform.rooms.rawValue].member[*]
    I'm calling this code on the rooms.changed event (alsop tried on rooms.exit event):
         members.execCalculate();
    Aparently $form.company.mainform.rooms.rawValue doesn't return the selected value of the rooms dropdownlist.
    Is there a way to get the selected event from a different form and re-calculate binding of the field?
    thanx

    Binding is not dynamic ...meaning that it is set when the form is rendered and cannot be changed on the fly.

  • Using value binding expressions to set 'required' attribute

    I am trying to use a value binding expression to determine whether the value of various input control's is required or not according to where they are used and not having much luck. I wonder if anyone can shed some light on this...
    The following expression works: <h:inputText id="name" required="#{true}"/> whereas <c:set var="required" value="true" scope="request"/>
    <h:inputText id="name" required="#{required}"/> does not, even though the expression evaluates to true! I have tried numerous variations (requestScope.required, required == true, required ? true : false, etc.) to no avail. Interestingly, #{1 == 1} or binding to a backing bean method works, but as soon as you add a request variable it breaks.
    Am I doing something wrong, is this something that JSF doesn't allow, or just a bug in the RI? Note that I don't want to vary this flag between multiple submissions of the same form, I am just trying to reuse the same JSP include to generate form controls for required and optional data on different forms to avoid a whole lot of cutting any pasting.
    Any pointers gratefully received.
    -- Keith Wilson

    I had something like this happen, and here's what I concluded the problem was. Perhaps your problem is similar.
    In the first non-working example you show a request-scope variable being set in the JSP page, and then use that to set the "required" attribute. But consider what happens when you submit the form. There is no longer any request-scope variable set because we have a new request and we don't go through the JSP page! (Not before validation is checked, anyhow).
    So basically I concluded that the variable had to be in (say) session scope for it to work as you would like.

  • Expressions and scripting

    Hi
    I've several questions about programming in Ae
    And I hope to find answers with you
    1- What are the differences between : expressions and scripting ???

  • Matches from regular expression into collection

    Hello,
    I need to do the following:
    I have a long string with some similar repeated data. I would like, using a regular expression, to extracts all matches in a collection. Is there a way of performing this task?
    I have look through the owa_pattern package, but as far as I found out, I can extract only a simple match. Here is an exact quote:
    "If multiple overlapping strings can match the regular expression, this function takes the longest match. " - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/w_patt.htm
    So what can I do if I want to get all the matches?
    Thank you in anticipation. Any help would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    beroetz

    I think your need a tokenizer-function.
    If the string +:in_str+ is delimited by +:in_delimiter+ you could try this:
    SELECT REGEXP_REPLACE(REGEXP_SUBSTR( :in_str || :in_delimiter, '(.*?)' || :in_delimiter, 1, LEVEL ), :in_delimiter, '') TOKEN
    BULK COLLECT INTO :my_nested_table
    FROM DUAL
    CONNECT BY REGEXP_INSTR( :in_str || :in_delimiter, '(.*?)' || :in_delimiter, 1, LEVEL ) > 0
    ORDER BY LEVEL ASC;
    I wrote a string-to-textarray-tokenizer (and it's pendant) some times ago, being able to cut from certain positions within the string using regular expressions and return the elements into an nested table of varchar2. It looks like:
    TYPE pos_arraytype IS TABLE OF POSITIVE ;
    TYPE text_arraytype IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(2000);
    FUNCTION stringToTextarray(in_str IN VARCHAR2, in_pos_arr IN pos_arraytype, in_regexp_arr IN text_arraytype DEFAULT NULL, in_trim_strings IN BOOLEAN DEFAULT TRUE)
    RETURN text_arraytype ;
    in_str is the string to be tokenized
    in_pos_arr is a table of positive values of positions in the string to be cut
    in_regexp_arr is a table of regular expressions to use at each position declared by in_pos_arr
    in_trim_strings is a flag, if the cutted element should be trimmed
    using above for example:
    in_str = 'Markus van Muster 347651234XY Musterdaam ABCDE'
    in_pos_arr = (1, 13, 35, 35, 42)
    in_regexp_arr = ('(.?){12}', '([^[:digit:]]?){22}', '[[:digit:]]{4}', '[[:alpha:]]{2}', '(.?){14}')
    in_trim_strings = TRUE
    RETURN collection ('Markus','van Muster','1234','XY','Musterdaam')
    If you need the code, then tell me! I'm looking for....

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 9349: * Added support for using getStyle() in Mxml data binding expressions.

    Revision: 9349
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-08-17 11:32:37 -0700 (Mon, 17 Aug 2009)
    Log Message:
    Added support for using getStyle() in Mxml data binding expressions.
      In addition to the existing "function return watcher" data binding
      functionality, we register to listen for style related change events
      when we see a function marked with [Bindable(style="true")].
      UIComponent's and TextGraphicElement's styleChanged() will now
      dispatch events for "getStyle()" FunctionReturnWatchers to handle.
      When null or "styleName" is passed into styleChanged(), we dispatch
      an "allStylesChanged" event.

  • Exception handling within a value-binding expression

    Hi all,
    Forgive me if this question seems odd, but I am a long-time Struts developer, new to JSF.
    In Struts, exception handling was easy because all requests were funnelled through some subclass of Action. Exception handling could effectively be consolidated into one spot by applying the template-method pattern.
    Of course, with JSF, this is not possible because method names in value-binding and action-binding expressions can be chosen arbitrarily. For this reason, I am exploring aspect-oriented (and other) techniques for consolidation JSF exception handling into one spot, but rather than focus too intently on that, it's clear that I first need the ability to forward to an error page when an exception is encountered in a value-binding or action-binding expression.
    For action-binding expressions, ExternalContext.dispatch("<view id>"); seems to work quite well, but I am unable to make the same work when in the context of a value-binding expression. This is probably attributed to the fact that at that point, I am in an entirely different phase of the JSF request processing lifecycle.
    What I'm looking to know is if anyone has a reliable means of forwarding to an error page within the context of a value-binding expression. Better yet, does anyone know a reliable way of forwarding to another view regardless of what phase you are in?
    If it makes a difference (and I think it does) the error page uses JSF as well, and uses the same layout (provided via custom tags courtesy of JSP 2.0 tag files), so some view components would have the same name as the page which encountered the error. This seems to get in the way of me simply defining the error page for a 500 in my web deployment descriptor.
    Thanks in advance to anyone with a working suggestion.
    -Kent

    Let me pose a purely hypothetical use case to demonstrate the problem:
    Imagine a page in an HR app, employeeDetails.jsp, that displays an always-up-to-date combo box which lists employee names and IDs. onChange triggers a form submit with the intention of simply posting back to this page, with various text boxes, etc. below updated to show all information for the selected employee.
    Obviously, with the requirement that the combo box always be up to date, it's clear that the getter invoked by the value-binding expression must access the database (not directly of course, but via a facade, application, then data-access layer). Any unexpected and unchecked exception in this chain would propagate back up to the getter method on the backing bean. I need to, at that point, log the exception (trivial) and forward to a user-friendly error page.
    I suppose I could put some contraint on myself that data access is only performed within ActionEvent handlers, but I'm not sure that's consistent with the JSF model in general, in fact it almost seems Struts-like in that I'd have to invoke some action before loading this form to build the up-to-date list for the combo box, shove it in request scope, where it's then available to the page indicated by the navigation rules. Submission of the form on the page in question would also need to result in rebuilding the up-to-date list. Now we're looking at firther propagation of code. I want to avoid this, so I am looking for a better way.

    Hi,
    Is there any specific error message occur when you open VS?
    Because of there is not enough information for troubleshoot, I will give you some advice:
    First, reboot the machine into safe mode. This can isolate some third part application.
    Second, you can use Devenv.exe Command Line to start the VS and collect logs for troubleshooting:
    You could type ‘Devenv.exe /SafeMode’, which starts Visual Studio in safe mode, loading only the default environment and services.
    You could create a log file (‘Devenv.exe  /log’ ) on your drive. If this issue exists still, you could invest your log file to narrow down the issue.
    More information about Devenv.exe Command Line, you could refer the following link:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms241273(v=VS.80)
    Third, you should make sure you can successfully install the VS. Please use collect.exe utility to collect VS install logs to see whether the VS installation is success:
    http://aka.ms/vscollect
    And make sure you already followed up these steps to install your VS:
    1. Re-download the Visual studio from Microsoft official site here:
    http://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/download-visual-studio-vs
    After download you should use File Checksum Integrity Verifier tool to verify the integrity of your download. If the values don't match, your download may be corrupted and you should download the file again:
    Refer to the below page to know checksum detailed number:
    http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads/visual-studio-2013-iso-sha1-vs.aspx
    Refer to Download the Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier to know how to check the checksum hash value.
    2. Disable your Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware software and be sure that your OS has been "patched" up - Update your computer (Windows) before install the VS.
    3. Clean your %temp% folder and run the installer with Administrator permission.

    is it possible to evaluate the binding expressions that are usually given in the JSP page (e.g. #{someObject.someProperty} ) from a Bean method?

    Collections support global iteration (through collection->get_next( )) and local iteration (through iterator->get_next( )).
    Each collection has a focus object. Initially, the first object has the focus.
    Any global iteration moves the focus, which is published by the event FOCUS_CHANGED of the collection.
    If you want to iterate on the collection without moving the focus (and without triggering timeconsuming follow-up processes) you can use local iteration. To do so, request an iterator object from the collection and use this to iterate.
    And one more advantage of using iterator: it takes care of deleted entities. If you use global iteration then when you reach deleted entity it will be an exception. But there is no exception with iterator in the same situation.
