BIP 11g default xml for apex

BI Publisher 11.1.1.5.0
The problem is that Publisher generates XML templates that is not supported by apex by default.
For example default xml data model based on SQL Query is like
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<DATA_DS>
<G_1>
<Q>X</Q>
</G_1>
</DATA_DS>Corresponding rtf template is
<?for-each-group:G_1;./Q?><?Q?><?end for-each-group?>But APEX expects it to be like this
<?for-each-group:ROW;./Q?><?Q?><?end for-each-group?>because for the same SQL it generates xml as follow
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ROWSET>
<ROW>
<Q>X</Q>
</ROW>
</ROWSET>I know the xml of data model can be overridden individually.
Is it possible to adjust default generating xml and fix corresponding G_X BIP tags to apex xml tags ?
Regards,
Igor

one of the way u can manually edit the group name in Data Model - Structure tab .
i don't think u can make it by default to come with ROW as far as i know for all the reports we develop unless u make one time change in data model structure tabf for every data model we create.

  • I need default values for APEX form fields. How do I do this?

    Hello,
    I am trying to set a default value in my form so that there will not get a null value. I have gone to the Column Defaults page and filled out the following fields in From Defaults:
    Default Value: 0
    Required: Yes
    Help Text: Please enter a number.
    When I add a record set or update a record and do not fill in the field, neither does it prompt me to fill it in or has a default value. It is blank.
    Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks
    leh

    Hi leh,
    Defaults:
    Click on the page item, go to the Default section, enter your value into the Default value area.
    Validations:
    It's not quite as automatic as you are thinking.
    You'll need to add a Validation process for the item.
    First you go to the Page Processing section, then the Validations section, click the creation icon in the Validation section. You will first have the choice to create an item level or page level validation. Either will work. Next you will select the item you want to validate. Then, select Item Not Null. On one of the next pages you will be able to enter the error message. It's all pretty straightforward.

  • Calling default XML editor for system in Java

    I'm looking for a way to call the system's default editor for xml files from a Java application. In other words, if I'm running on a Windows system, I might want to start Notepad, or if I'm on a Mac, maybe I want to start TextWrangler or oXygen, etc.
    Essentially, I want to pass down an XML file to the system and have the underlying system determine the default editor, and then open the file in that editor.
    I've seen some code using Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c notepad.exe") and the like, but that assumes
    a) I know what the default editor for XML on the system is
    b) I know the executable path for this file
    I don't have a way of knowing either of those assumptions. Can anyone suggest ways for me to solve this bind?

    You might want to check out the Desktop class which "allows a Java application to launch associated applications registered on the native desktop to handle a URI or a file" including "launching a registered application to open, edit or print a specified file".
    But note: "The mechanism of registereing, accessing, and launching the associated application is platform-dependent." In particular if there is no association between file/URI and application all you get is a IOException at the time you call open().

  • Oracle 11g R2 HTTP server for APEX

    I am in the process of configuring new apex enviornment to run Oracle HTTP Server instead of the embedded server which we are currently using on another instance. I have configured 11g r2 along with companion version of Oraclle HTTP server entitled Oracle Fusion Middleware Web Tier Utilities.
    Currently all is working fine with this configuraiton using SSL.
    We have a couple of third party applications that are supplied in a EAR file for deployment. Does this version of Oracle HTTP support such deployments? There seems to be no gui interface to managing the http server and web cache. Do we need to move to the full Fusion app server to support EAR deployments, etc. If so, I am assuming we would then have to purchase Fusion product unlike http product for APEX.
    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Bob

    For a number of reasons scrapped http server and installed and configured GlassFish community edition with Apex Listener. With caching enabled all is working great. Weblogic is overkill.

  • Looking for the java default XML parser?

    Hey guys,
    I just wondering alot about the sometimes mentioned Java Default XML Parser. So I used xerces and it worked fine, but my program doesnt need the whole functionality of xerces and I want to save some space for the resulting project jar. The xerces parser is 1.1 MB huge and instead of xerces I could use the default SAX parser in the java API, I thought.
    Although it is mentioned in some books/documents I can not find it.
    Could you give me an exmaple with the XMLReaderFactory how to use the default parser?
    I would appreciate this alot!
    Thanks.

    Hey,
    yes that I tried before, because I read this too.. If I am doing this Im getting the error:
    Exception in thread "main" org.xml.sax.SAXException: System property org.xml.sax.driver not specified
         at org.xml.sax.helpers.XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader(XMLReaderFactory.java:90)
         at cfm.com.gui.GUIBuilder.buildGUIPage(GUIBuilder.java:51)
    ...So, this means that the JDK comes not with an default parser implementation I suggest.
    Hmm... stupid! I think I have to ship the xerces parser with my application... but its huge!
    Does anybody know what of the compelling parser are the lighweightest?
    Im gonna look for this answer too....
    Thanks.

  • JSF, ADF BC, 11g - Configure default location for pageDefs

    Hi all,
    As the title suggests, I was wondering if there is anyway to configure the default location for pageDefs.
    I've been having some issues when creating a page through faces-config.xml.
    If I don't put a folder before the jsp name when declaring the page in the faces-config - eg. /Home.jsp - then the pageDef is created in the correct place - eg. /adfmsrc/com/delexian/app/pageDefs
    However if I do put a folder before the jsp name - eg. /app/Home.jsp - then it puts the pageDef in /adfmsrc/app
    Anyone know of a workaround?
    Cheers,
    -chris

    Hi Chris,
    not that I know
    In case you have access to Metalink, I logged Bug 7502373 - PAGEDEF FILES NOT CREATED UNDER PAGEDEFS PATH FOR JSPX CREATED IN SUB-DIRECTORY
    a few days agi.
    See also Note 744764.1 - PageDef Files Not Created Under PageDefs Path For JSPX Created In Sub-Directory
    For now, I only see Refactoring as workaround.

  • ADF 11g - Query Component - How to set default values for search criteria

    I have defined a VO with named query (with 2 search criteria). I created a page and drop a query with table. It works just fine until this point. My requirement is to set a default values for the two search criteria. For example, I have release and category criteria where they are set to use a drop down. I would like to default the values for the drop down when the page is shown up the first time and query the result right away. Is there a way declaratively or I have to create a custom query?
    Thanks.

    I figured this out. Thanks.

  • BIP 11G - Retrieving a cursor from a function defined in a package

    We had previously deployed reports in OBIP 10G....
    The reports deployed in OBIP 10G used an XDO file to interact with the database and return data in XML format.
    This action used to be defined in the ‘sqlStatement’ tag of the XDO file.
    <dataQuery>
    <sqlStatement name="Q1"> select PK_AP_GEN_REP.AP_GEN_REP('AP_CH_R101',1) FROM DUAL </sqlStatement>
    </dataQuery>
    For this it would invoke our package called ‘PK_AP_GEN_REP’ and pass the report specific function name ('AP_CH_R101') to it as an input parameter.
    This returned a cursor.
    Hereafter the resultant cursor from above would get each column mapped with those mentioned in ‘dataStructure’ tags of XDO file to form an XML file.
    Currently we are trying the same in OBIP 11G.
    We are creating the dataset with SQL query
    The problem is that the SQL statement “select PK_AP_GEN_REP.AP_GEN_REP('AP_CH_R101',1) FROM DUAL” is not effective.
    Also if the above query is fired it does not retrieve the column names to define the data structure.
    Solutions tried:-
    1.     Forcefully defining the data-structure in XDM file created for this report. This did not work.
    2.     Firing a Before “Event Trigger”. This only works if the function is returning a Boolean and not a cursor.
    We tried modifying the function to return a Boolean and to populate the report specific table which could be queried to fetch the records.
    We defined Oracle DB Default Package = PK_AP_GEN_REP
    We defined the trigger as PK_AP_GEN_REP.AP_GEN_REP('AP_CH_R101',1)
    Now creating the dataset with SQL query does not return any data.
    It is giving the following error:-
    "XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://iflmud5im00094:9704/xmlpserver/servlet/xdo'."
    However the query fires if Oracle DB Default Package is reset to nothing...But in this case the event trigger did not fire.
    If there is a wayout involving any of the above 2 steps or any other way please share the solution
    Kindly let me know how I may handle this issue of Retrieving a cursor from a function defined in a package in BIP 11g.

    Further regarding this....
    Not sure regarding performance issues of using pipelined functions
    Just to share with you that instead of what you suggested I have tried out returning a 'table' type object from a PL/SQL function after CAST ing the required query to this Object.
    Stretching the discussion forward, is there a way to cast a ref cursor into a plsql table.
    This could absolutely fit my requirement...
    Thanks in advance

  • Reports who work in BIP 10G does not work in BIP 11G

    Hi!
    We are in the middle of going from BIP 10G to BIP 11G (latest patch installed the 9 of february). We have used the Upgrade Assistant to migrate the reports from 10G to 11G, about 80-90% are working directly.

    Does anyone have the solution for this type of error, we have about 30-40 reports that is behaving like this in BIP 11G but works fine in BIP 10G.
    Can we do anything general in the BIP 11G or does we need to find the solution for each report and change in the template?
    All ideas are appreciated, thanks,
    Anders B

    Hi!
    Have everyone out there been able to use the upgrade assistant without any problem?
    The UA.bat program says everything is ok but the report actually created in BIP 10G does not work in BIP 11G. We are looking for documentation or "findings" of what the problem can be, in a more general way. We are aware of that we probably have to fix this manually, but we dont know what to fix, and it is not so "fun" to be forced to re create all this templates and reports. The datamodell seems for the most of the time works, so we get a working xml source but the creation of the report thru the template dont work.
    Best regards,
    Anders

  • Passing parameter to Function in select clause BIP 11g

    Hi,
    I am developing a dataset where i ahave to pass Parameter to a function which retrives the cursor in BIP 11g
    below is the SQL:
    select cizcompfn(:P_USER_ID) COMPANY_INFO,
    cizinstfn(:P_REPORT_CD, :P_USER_ID) CURRENCY_INFO,
    sysdate AS PRINT_DATE_TIME_INFO,

    to_char(:P_TO_DT, 'yyyy-MM-dd')) RETURN_CODE_INFO, rpt_option_val SERVER
    FROM ci_rpt_option where rpt_opt_flg = 'RPSV'
    I have created the 4 parameters :P_USER_ID, :P_REPORT_CD , :P_FROM_DT and :P_TO_DT
    I am not getting the result generated.
    If develop the dataset in BIP 10g, this working fine.
    Please, let me know what needs to changed so that it works in BIP11g.
    Regards,

    I am getting the result like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <!-- Generated by Oracle BI Publisher 11.1.1.5.0

    Value for two columns:

    rpt_option_val SERVER
    which are straight forward columns.
    When i pass hardcoded values instaed of parameters I get the XML:
    Below is the SQL:

  • BIP 11g Enterprise on Linux issues

    Hi gurus,
    I have installed BIP 11g (11.1.1.3.0) on a Linix server and have noticed that some functionality does not work when using Internet Explorer 8.0 - for example, (1) creating element links by dragging and dropping elements and (2) dragging and dropping event trigger functions.
    I am now running into a very frustrating issue. I have an existing report in eBusiness Suite that uses a data template to generate XML. It works just fine.
    I am trying to port the data template into BIP 11g using the data model. The queries work fine as long as there are no links. As soon as I create element links, the data engine errors out with ORA-00933 or ORA-00936.
    Here's what the bipublisher.log file has :
    "[2010-10-22T12:59:39.954-05:00] [bi_server1] [WARNING] [] [oracle.xdo] [tid: 23] [userId: <anonymous>] [ecid: 0000IjL69Hm72F^7hVicM41Ck9EF0000fD,0] [APP: bipublisher#11.1.1.3.0] java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended[[

    Any thoughts / ideas ?

    Follow-up questions.
    1) Are you running BIP 11g on a Linux platform?
    2) Have you verified that all features are working as described in the user guide/manual?
    3) Did you have to use workarounds to utilize some of the functionality described in the manual?
    4) If you are working on a BIP 11g Linux installation without any issues, would you mind posting your configuration set-up ? i.e. Linux version, OS version, repository DB etc
    Thanks,

  • Concatenated SQL Data Source in BIP 11G

    Hi all,
    I have performed a repository upgrade of BI Publisher from 10G to 11G. Everything is working perfectly fine except the problem below:
    All the reports consists of 2 data sets. Both of them are sql queries. Data_set 1 is guaranteed to return the result set as it queries the sysdate and puts as the date the report ran. This is for auditing purpose. Data_Set2 contains the business logic for the report. At times this query does not return any data. In the case where both queries returned data, I am able to publish my report in all available output formats. e.g xml, pdf and html just to mention a few. However, in the case where Data_Set2 does not have any result set but Data_Set1 does, I am only able to display the data in XML not PDF or HTML. For pdf it come back with the message "Failed to load PDF Document" and in HTML comes with an error message "oracle.xdo.servelet.data.DataException: Layout not found".
    In BI Publisher 10G, you can could choose an option of "Concatenated SQL Data Source" and it will be able to generate the report in any format with just the result set of Data_Set1 i.e sysdate for the date when the report was ran.
    Any idea as to how I can achieve the same goal in BI Publisher 11.1.1.5

    Hi all,
    I managed to realise what was the problem.
    It seems like with BIP 11G, one does not to explicitly select "concatenated SQL Data Source" as was the case in 10G when using more than one data source. This option is implicitly applied.
    The issue on my side was that some of the templates I had upgraded from 10G were corrupted hence the data was returned through xml but not other template based output.
    Thanks

  • How to change default thresholds for some metrics of all targets.

    Hi!
    We have a lot of servers which have to work hard.
    So, our OEM very often generates messages like these:
    "EM Alert: Critical:dbsora90.tsb.kz - CPU Utilization is 99.95%, crossed warning (80) or critical (95) threshold."
    "EM Alert: Critical:dbsora94.tsb.kz - Disk Device c8t60A9800043346C384C344A4A63516D6Ad0(ssd4) is 99.7% busy."
    "EM Alert: Critical:dbsora94.tsb.kz - CPU Load (Run Queue Length averaged over 5 minutes) is 20.78, crossed warning (10) or critical (20) threshold."
    I need to change default tresholds for mentioned metrics but I can't their defenition in SYSMAN.MGMT_*-tables or suitable settings in OEM GUI.
    And I have no time to edit treshholds manually for each target. )

    Modification of Metric Thresholds (as this is what you are referring to), should be done using the Metrics and Policy Settings link (to be found in the Target Home page).
    Don't mess around with the SYSMAN tables!
    Best thing to do here is to start using Monitoring Templates for this.

  • How to change default approval for ResourceAuthorizerApproval ?

    Hi,
    I'am new in OIM and I follow documentation where I found some predefined workflows. I'd like to use them.
    Could you tell me, step by step, how to change default approval for ResourceAuthorizerApproval (only for my new defined resource).
    I'm using OIM 11g and Design Console 11.1.1.3.0.2.0

    Ok, I made new tamplate (copy of existing one), there I changed Template Level Approval Process and set allowed resources. It seems to be ok :)
    If there are other solutions please share with me
    Thanks
