Block Multiple Instance Of Form

Hai all,
In forms 6i, can we block the opening of a single form in multiple instances in the same application?
Regards,
Manu

Easy. Use the database.
In the new-form-instance trigger, obtain a lock on an object. If you can't get the lock, then the form is already running so issue and exit.
Since the PL/SQL engine in forms 6i is older, I believe I solved this with a stored procedure in the database:
function obtain_lock return boolean is
l_row mytable%rowtype;
begin
select * into l_row
from mytable
for update no_wait;
return true;
exception when others then -- this is poor, catch the exact error
return false;
end;
The trick then, is to be careful with commit/rollback. If you complete your transaction, someone else can get in the form, so you may want to be careful and either only commit/rollback when user is leaving the form or be quick about re-obtaining your lock any time you commit/rollback.

  • Importing data from multiple instances of form into spreadsheet

    I am trying to set up a time-tracking system using an interactive PDF form. I have designed the form, and it works great. All users will enter their time into the form and email me the form. So I will have multiple XML file to import into Excel, where I can compile and analyze the data.
    Is there a way to automate the importing of these multiple XML files into Excel? From what I've figured out so far, it seems that I will have to manually import each XML file into Excel, and this seems too labor-intensive. I'm sure there's a better way.
    Any hints?

    Give Acrobat a try. Put all your XML data into a single location. In Acrobat, choose File | Form Data | Create Spreadsheet from Data Files. Once the file has been compiled, use the "View" option to see the data in Excel.

  • Multiple instances of parameter input form opens in Citrix environment - stumped

    Post Author: debmilner
    CA Forum: General
    One of our clients is getting multiple parameter input forms, specifically 4 instances, opening when running a report.  This only happens when she attempts to run the report when connected to the software using Citrix, but does not occur when running the report on her test server. She reports that other reports open only one parameter screen, as they should.  There is only one instance of each parameter in the report.
    We are calling the reports through our client app against a MS-SQL2005 database, and these are not web based.  The report is written using a select statement in the Database - Command option, on a file.dsn connection.  I cannot duplicate this behavior, and am totally stumped.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Joonas,
    as this appears to be a portal problem it is better to post this question to the WebCenter forum WebCenter Portal as it is out of scope for core ADF

  • How to open multiple instances of same form thru menu items

    i'm not able to open another instance of the form.....if i want to open multiple instances of same form ...what should i do???

    Hi Shenaz,
    To open multiple instances of the same form you need to set a different FormUID to each form you open.
    So lets say your FormType is MyFormXPTO. You need can set the FormUID as MyFormXPTO_1, MyFormXPTO_2, and so on.
    If you need a code samples, take a look at this post.

  • Need Multiple Instance of MDI Form, Possible ?

    Hi,
    I have a button in outlook,  that when clicked runs an Winforms application as addin.  The app has main MDI window and uses lots of .xsd files (Typed Datasets) for database activity.
    I have a situation where we want to shift all 2014 data into and as OLD database and only 2015 onwards records with be in current database.  But we also want users to view old data.
    The immediate thought with minimum changes is that if we can create two instance of MDI Window (Running separately from each other in process ) then both can have different connection strings  and program will run as usual getting data
    from respective database.
    Note: Connection strings are defined in and as global::AppName.Properties.Settings.Default.cnn and same is used everywhere in the code including .xsd files (Typed Datasets)
    Any Guidance or Better Thoughts to achieve the task.
    Regards

    Thanks Phill for the response.
    But in both of the techniques I will have to modify the code (SQL) at many places and do round of testing.
    Its a 4yr old code and not everything is in stored procedures, some are dynamic sql coming from code etc etc.
    Another factor which I forgot to mention was that we want to Re-numbering/Restart of all AutoIncrement Fields.
    This might be in conflict with either of your suggestions.
    if it was just WinForms application, I think it would be easy to run multiple instance.  but in my case its an outlook addin. My view is somehow if it is possible to manipulate and spawn two instance running as different process, that it would be awesome.
    Any thoughts ?

    Hello,

    c. >>Another factor which I forgot to mention was that we want to Re-numbering/Restart of all AutoIncrement Fields.
    From these words above, it seems that you didn't want to edit the current form, and want to copy that and edit it to display the old data, and do some other modifications, right?
    We could create another form and copy all controls and code from the main form, and edit them to display the old data by changing the connection string, but it still needs us modify the code at many places.
    We could create another instance of the main form, and get that displayed, but it will still display the same data unless we changing the connection string and query.
    To sum up, no matter which way we selected, it still needs us to edit the code include query and connections strings at many places.

    be awesome.
    The key issue is that where did you display these data, you want to display them inside the form, right?
    Inside the button click event of that add-in, you could show multiple window forms, one for old data, the other for 2015 data, they will not disturb each other.

  • Blocking multiple SOA Instances when polling from DB Adapter?

    Hi,
    I am on SOA 11.1.1.3 and have a simple requirement of sequential processing from a database table. I hence created a BPEL process to poll the DB and process the records sequentially by inserting 10 records in a single XML (and doing a while loop on these records). I have also kept a polling interval of 30s with Logical Delete option.
    When I have just 10 records in the table, it works fine by creating one instance. However, when there are 20 records in the table, it creates 2 instances of 10 records each and since these two instances are processed in parallel, the sequential processing no more happens and records are processed out of order.
    Is it possible to limit the number of instances to just one and prevent the second instance from kicking off. I have read about the singleton process but can I use this on a single node as well?
    Any inputs will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi
    From what I know there is nothing out of box that does guarantee ordered execution of instances. That is due to the Queue based work storage and multiple threads pulling data for execution of instances.
    I am not sure if that should be supported out of box as well.
    Polling process is expected to poll for records every X interval. And create instances that can be processed with in the container.
    From what I understand, the requirement needs to stop the polling process if there is a active instance
    OR
    Create a instance during each polling and check if there is an existing instance, wait till the other instance is complete and then proceed in order if multiple instances have been polled during the waiting window.
    One option that I have implemented that works at the source (database) works like this:
    1. Change the Db Adapter to logical delete
    2. Create a view on the database to only show 1 NEW record, or no records if there is a RESERVED record
    3. You might have to write a trigger on the table for updates to complex view created
    At least the requirement that I had was to process records in the order they were created.
    Status table look up might be tricky as it can not guarantee ordered execution of records as threads might grab the status in random order. But if the requirement is 1 at a time rather than ordered, this would be fine.
    But from JVM load perspective, instances might be sitting in the memory doing constantly trying to grab status from table. From performance perspective other options would need to be explored.

  • Need help - Loading Multiple instance of the same image

    Hi guys,
    I have been trying for days now, to get this working but i'm not able to do so, i have been trying to get actionscript to load multiple instance of an image file using a for loop.
    Would anyone be able to enlighten me on this?  the other functions are located on a seperate actionscript file.
    many thanks
    part of the code is as follows: (it works if i use the graphic class)
    function makeRoad():void{
        var row:int = 0;//the current row we're working on
        var block;//this will act as the block that we're placing down
        for(var i:int=0;i<lvlArray.length;i++){//creating a loop that'll go through the level array
            if(lvlArray[i] == 0){//if the current index is set to 0
                block = new EmptyBlock();//create a gray empty block
                block.graphics.beginFill(0x333333);
                block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
                block.graphics.endFill();
                addChild(block);
                //and set the coordinates to be relative to the place in the array
                block.x= (i-row*22)*25;
                block.y = row*25;
                } else if(lvlArray[i] == 1){//if there is supposed to be a row
                //just add a box that will be a darker color and won't have any actions
                block = new Shape();
                block.graphics.beginFill(0x111111);
                block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
                block.graphics.endFill();
                block.x= (i-row*22)*25;
                block.y = row*25;
                roadHolder.addChild(block);//add it to the roadHolder
            } else if(lvlArray[i] is String){//if it's a string, meaning a special block
                //then create a special block
                block = new DirectBlock(lvlArray[i],(i-row*22)*25,row*25);
                addChild(block);
            for(var c:int = 1;c<=16;c++){
                if(i == c*22-1){
                    //if 22 columns have gone by, then we move onto the next row
                    row++;

    @Kalisto - i don't think that is the real issue here since we cannot see what is in the DirectBlock class and the OP has not mentioned any compiler errors.
    Desmond - it appears as though you are constructing this in the form of a 'grid' - correct?  but the problem i believe is that the positioning is not being determined properly - to do something like you want here (i think) you would use what known as a 'nested loop' - this means the 'outer' loop handles iteration of the 'rows' and an 'inner' loop handles the iteration of the columns.  the way you have this set up above, you are attempting to use the 'row' value to position both the row and column - this wont work and it's likely that everything is getting 'stacked' on top of one another.
    may want to structure things a bit more like this:
    function makeRoad():void {
         var index:int = 0;
         for(var row=0; row<22; row++) {
              for(var col=0; col<22; col++) {
                   index = (row*22)+col;
                   if(lvlArray[index] == 0) createBlock(0x333333, col*25, row*25);
                   if(lvlArray[index] == 1) createBlock(0x111111, col*25, row*25);
                   if(lvlArray[index] is String) roadHolder.addChild( new DirectBlock(lvlArray[index], col*25, row*25) );
    function createBlock(color, xp, yp):void {
         var block:Shape = new Shape();
         block.graphics.beginFill(color);
         block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
         block.graphics.endFill();
         block.x = xp;
         block.y = yp;
         roadHolder.addChild(block);
    note: i do not know how many 'rows' you intend to have and are stored in the array so the row<22 will need adjustment

  • Multiple instances of explorer.exe running in task manager

    I got a dropper trojan virus on my computer that microsoft security essencials do not recognized but after running "superantispyware" antivirus I got discover it and delete it. After that, I still could find the infected files in my
    administrator folders as .temp files and I just erased them. After that my computer started crashing and runing several instances of explorer.exe in the task manager with different memory values, some of them ascending to 350,000. I have set up my computer
    to run just the basic services, I have tried windows in safe mode, ran other antivirus programs but still it is performing the same. As far as I have noticed other unusual process present are host.dll, dllhost.exe, and logonUI.exe. Any idea about it? Thanks
    in advance for your help.

    I have the same issue. It started about a month ago when I was filling out a form online and had to quit and close the window.  My system got very buggy (can't remember details), flashing, then really slow.  Found a bunch of explorer.exe instances
    in Task Manager.  Ran Security Essentials and several other anti-viruses, nothing found.
    Running Win7 Pro, sp1, 64-bit, CoreI5, 4Gb Ram
    Restored system to a previous version, didn't work
    Restored last system image, didn't work
    Used System Repair Disk - ran Memory Diagnostic.  Said it would give me report after reboot.  Never saw a report after reboot. But only one instance of explorer.exe in task manager at that point.  Took disk out, rebooted normally.  After
    20 minutes or so, the multiple instances were back.
    Used Repair Disk again, ran Memory Diagnostic. Again, no report after reboot (leaving disk in machine both times), but only one instance running again.
    Did this a few times with the same result, so now leaving disk in system and always boot from it.
    Ran Security Essentials again, found that rovnix virus, removed, ran again, found it again.
    Ran search for instances and found many.  Here's an example:
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe
    C:\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_b9fc4815c4e292b5

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64
    When I check properties on the now single one on Task Manager, this is what it shows:
    C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_afa79dc39081d0ba\explorer.exe
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe
    I was going to reinstall entire system, but was from an Anytime Upgrade which now says it's invalid.  Much more to story on that (calls to MS support, etc.).

  • How do I prevent a user from opening multiple instances on the same computer?

    On the site oldnavyweekly.com there is a .swf that prevents users from opening multiple instances of the site at the same time on the same computer. If you open the site, and try to open it a second time in another window, it won't load. You can't open the site again until the first window is closed. How did they implement this?
    From my analysis it is NOT:
    1. Cookies - The block still takes place if you try opening it in IE and also try opening it in Firefox simultaneously.
    2. Flash Cookies - The block still takes place if I disable flash cookies.
    3. IP Based Block - You are not blocked if you open the site on two separate computers with the same outbound IP address. From my analysis, their server does not assist in the block at all.
    It seems as if their .swf is creating some kind of global system-wide object that can be detected in other instances of the application on the same machine. How did they implement this?
    Thanks!

    you're welcome.
    actually, unless you take an extra step, the first opened swf will close.  if you want the 2nd to close, the initial receiving lc will send a message to sender that causes the sender to close.

  • How to use multiple instances of the same dll ?

    Hi,
    I'd like to use multiple instances of a jni dll . I have created
    different threads, in each thread, I have called System.loadLibrary(..),
    and I would like each thread to access a different instance of this
    library.
    Unfortunately, the loadLibrary function is effective only once so I
    can not find the way to do this.
    Can anyone help me on this ?
    Thanks.
    Francois.

    Hi, :)
    and I would like each thread to access a different
    instance of this library.In Win32, this is outright impossible. A DLL will only exist once in a process space.
    In Unix, or at least in Solaris, I think this is also not possible, as libraries are loaded by the dynamic linker, and it keeps tabs of which modules have already been loaded into the process space.
    I'm assuming your problem is that your native library has non-reentrant code.
    If so, there are two approaches you can take to this:
    1) If you have access to the source code for the native library, change it so that it is reentrant.
    2) If you do not, change your Java code so that access to the native code is made from whithin synchronize blocks.
    If your problem is of a different nature, I'll second the words of the previous poster and ask you what it is...
    Cheers,
    J.

  • How to reference multiple instances of the same Java object from PL/SQL?

    Dear all,
    I'm experimenting with calling Java from PL/SQL.
    My simple attempts work, which is calling public static [java] methods through PL/SQL wrappers from SQL (and PL/SQL). (See my example code below).
    However it is the limitation of the public static methods that puzzels me.
    I would like to do the following:
    - from PL/SQL (in essence it needs to become a forms app) create one or more objects in the java realm
    - from PL/SQL alter properties of a java object
    - from PL/SQL call methods on a java object
    However I fail to see how I can create multiple instances of an object and reference one particular object in the java realm through public static methods.
    My current solution is the singleton pattern: of said java object I have only 1 copy, so I do not need to know a reference to it.
    I can just assume that there will only ever be 1 of said object.
    But I should be able to make more then 1 instance of an object.
    To make it more specific:
    - suppose I have the object car in the java realm
    - from PL/SQL I want to create a car in the java realm
    - from PL/SQL I need to give it license plates
    - I need to start the engine of a scpecific car
    However if I want more then 1 car then I need to be able to refrence them. How is this done?
    Somehow I need to be able to execute the following in PL/SQL:
    DECLARE
    vMyCar_Porsche CAR;
    vMyCar_Fiat CAR;
    BEGIN
    vMyCar_Porsche = new CAR();
    vMyCar_Fiat = new CAR();
    vMyCar_Porsche.setLicensePlates('FAST');
    vMyCar_Porsche.startEngine();
    vMyCar_Fiat.killEngine();
    END;
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Ruben
    My current example code is the following:

    You can do this by manually creating a new iterator binding in your binding tab.
    So instead of dragging the VO directly to the page, go to the binding tab, add a new executable iterator binding, and point to that one from your ELs in the page itself.

  • Can I create multiple instances of  realplayer plug-in in one jsp page?

    I want to play meny video files in one jsp web page, these video files are to be played with the embeded plug-in of realplayer, each plug-in was linked(use its SRC property) a different video file. But, to my surprise, when I press the play button, every player played the same video file,not its specified file.
    I have no idea why it did so and what can I do?
    Whether can I create multiple instances of realplayer plug-in in one jsp page, that is to say, each instance is independent of others?
    thanks in advance!

    Generally speaking, Internet Explorer tries not to launch multiple versions of a plug-in. So what's happening is that you load the first video clip, and then before it has a chance to play, you load the second video clip into the same window. (It's like changing songs in WMA.)
    In some cases - this may not work for Real Player, but it's worth trying - if you spawn a new window through a hypertext link and then launch the plug-in in that window, IE will treat it separately. Otherwise, you could not, for example, run two Macromedia Flash applications from different web sites at the same time.
    Keep in mind that only one program can access the soundcard at a time, so Real Player may purposely "pause" or "cancel" other video streams until the active one finishes. If you were using the desktop version, selecting another video by any means aborts the currently running video (i.e., RP won't let you create a separate instance of it).
    The easiest solution is to create a wrapper JSP file that takes the name of the video clip, and plays it. Call that JSP and specify that it should be opened in a new window via the TARGET keyword in the anchor tag. Then hopefully RP itself won't block a second window from running.

  • Multiple instances of the same bean class in session?

    Im trying to think of a way to have multiple instances of the same bean class in session scope using JSF. For example, lets say that I have two <h:dataTable>s on the same page. They both use the backing bean called genericBean. Now, the content for genericBean will be different for each <h:dataTable>. In fact, the data source that backs genericBean is not known until runtime. It could be a database, web service, etc.
    What I would like is for when JSF needs access genericBean instead of looking for the value with key genericBean in the session map it looks for genericBean_[some runtime ID]. I could specify this id in EL on a custom component, as a request parameter or whatever.
    I think that I need the bean to be in session scope because the tables are complex and I want them to be editable.
    I have some ideas about how I can do this but I was wondering if someone has already solved this problem or if there is a standard way to do this using tools like Shale, etc.
    Thanks,
    Randy

    Well, I came up with an interesting solution to this so I thought that I would post it here.
    I have a page that looks like this.
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>My Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <f:view>
    <f:subview id="component1">
    <jsp:include page="component.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="id" value="a" />
    </jsp:include>
    </f:subview>
    <hr>
    <f:subview id="component2">
    <jsp:include page="component.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="id" value="b" />
    </jsp:include>
    </f:subview>
    </f:view>
    </body>
    </html>
    And component.jsp looke like this.
    <f:verbatim>
    <p>
    <h1>Component
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:outputText value=" #{param.id}" />
    <f:verbatim>
    </h1>
    </p>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:form>
    <h:outputText value="#{component.id}" />
    <h:outputText value="#{component.value}" />
    <h:commandButton value="increment" action="#{component.increment}" />
    <h:commandButton value="decrement" action="#{component.decrement}" />
    <f:verbatim>
    <input type="hidden" name="id"
    value="</f:verbatim><h:outputText value="#{param.id}"/><f:verbatim>" />
    </f:verbatim>
    </h:form>
    The idea is that I want component.jsp to be initialized differently based on the id param. The component managed bean is configured to be in session scope but I want the component instance for id a and id b to be different instances in session scope. Therefore, I added a custom variable resolver to handle this.
    public Object resolveVariable(FacesContext context, String name) {

  • Multiple instances of Page Flows

    I have a legacy application that I am working on migrating to Weblogic. The
    legacy application allowed the user to have multiple windows of the same
    module open at the same time. Users found this useful if they wanted to look
    at two different records in the same module. For example, if you had a
    registration app and you wanted to look at Joe's registration information
    and Sue's registration. Is it possible to have two browsers within the same
    session open and pointing to the same RegistrationController.jpf?
    We currently have our form beans stored in the page flow which seems to
    cause a problem as when we open another browser instance in the same session
    pointing to the same page flow, the form beans from the first window are
    overwritten. An approach we are possbily looking at is to store the form
    beans in an object in the session and identify a set of form beans as
    belonging to a particular window instance - perhaps by uniquely naming the
    windows as they are opened.
    Has anyone done this before with needing to have multiple instances of the
    same page flow or multiple instances of different non-nested page flows open
    at the same time?
    Michelle

    Hi Vijay,
    Thanks for the reply, But that's not the right aproach.
    I cannot change the application to stateless, Since the standard application where the page resides is statefull.
    Also some of the business logic I cannot achive with stateless application

  • Multiple instances and mail config

    Maybe I dont understand the right concept of multiple
    instances but what I did was the following:
    Setup up an instance for each domain I have running as a
    VHost on apache.
    What I was trying to accomplish is the failover of any one
    domain and also to use separate mail settings for each domain.
    But this is where I seem to have misunderstood the concept of
    multiple instances, is it not possible to use a different smtp
    server for each domain? When my forms for each domain generates an
    email I want the email to originate from that domain not the main
    one setup in CF...
    Thanks

    Your on the right track.
    Set up say 4 websites (virtual hosts) eg www.mydomain1.com,
    www.mydomain2.com etc
    Set up 4 cf instances if you have 4 domains, maybe call them
    mydomain1, mydomain2 etc
    Using the Web Server configuration tool, config the cf
    instance mydomain1 to virtual host mydomain1, cf instance mydomain2
    to VH mydomain2 etc
    The website should now be working using their own Cf
    instances.
    Go into the CF Admin, scroll to the bottom of the left menu
    and you should see Instance Manager
    Clicking on this should either reveal the 4 cf instances or
    you may have to add them (should be a button)
    Once you see all 4, you should be able to click on the admin
    for each individual instance and change the smtp server as
    appropriate.
    This won't give you failover though, if a CF instance goes
    down, that site is gone. Clustering is the way to give failover and
    you can achieve this fairly easily.
    Expanding on the above example, you would create 8 CF
    instances eg mydomain1-1 mydomain1-2, mydomain2-1 mydomain2-2.
    Create 4 clusters eg mydomain1cluster, mydomain2cluster etc
    In the CF Administrator Add mydomain1-1, mydomain1-2
    instances to mydomain1cluster etc
    Using the Web Server configuration tool, config the cluster
    mydomain1cluster to virtual host mydomain1 etc
    each domain should now be using 2 cf instances, you will be
    able to down on of those instances the the site will continue
    working.
    Back in the instance manager under CF Admin, you should now
    have 8 instances - config mydomain1-1, mydomain1-2 to the
    appropriate smtp server etc
    The above is for CF MX 6 onwards too, not sure about previous
    versions.
    I think thats what your after? I've skimmed over some parts
    above in relation to the clustering, but there's a handy doc
    floating around on the web by Herrlich & Ramuschkat that will
    guide you through it.
    BTW, those instances can sit on multiple physical servers for
    hardware redundancy. Depending on how many domains you have and the
    power of your machines, this is a preferred way to go although
    expensive due to multiple CF licences
