BO6: complex filter with data aggregates
Hi,
In BO 6.1 I have a report like this "name", "year", "value"
Then I have made a variable : "A" = if count(<Year>) = 5 then 1 else 0
Now I want to display only the record that that have the variable "A" = 1
I tried to do a filter on "A" variable but I received the error "Cannot use aggregate in complex filter"
Any idea how to solve the problem?
Thank's
in the WebI level :-
i've made your example in XI R2, and it worked fine....
once you used an aggregate function in an Variable it has to be Measure, and then you can filter data based on this measure
for your version BO 6.1
it seems that there is a restrictions in using aggregate functions in filters.
in The Query Level :-
you can not create such a variable in the universe and use it in filters of the query
it will gives you always error, in all the BO versions,
you are not allowed to use aggregate functions in filters.
good luck

Hi,
my requirement is to create a calculated member to calculate Total unique customers who has sales > 0 within the date range.
Below mdx works normally with single date
DistinctCount(FILTER([Customer_Sales].[Outlet ID].[Outlet ID].members,
([Measures].[distribution],
[Date].[CalendarWeek].CurrentMember
)=1))
I'm looking for something like below with date range,
DistinctCount(FILTER([Customer_Sales].[Outlet ID].[Outlet ID].members,
([Measures].[distribution],
WTD([Date].[CalendarWeek].CurrentMember
))=1))
Above MDX fails with the error: String of numeric expression expected, Tuple set expression was used.
Appreciate your immediate response.
Thanks in advanceHi Chandima,
Thanks for the response.
I tried your code, it works but the results are not correct. As per manual calculations, there are 28 unique customers who has positive sales on Week to date (2014-11-03), but result shows only 19.
For the first day of week (2014-11-01), there are 9 unique customers, which is correct. But for the following days it is not giving correct result.
Further, performance of this approach is very poor

Enhancement request : Table - Data -- Filter with multiple lines
It would be nice when the Filter option in the tables Data tab could contain multiple lines, because :
In case of a complex where clause on a table (used in a query) it's hard to get an impression of the filter because everything is typed on one single line.
In case of multiple lines it's also more easy to disable a single clause temporary with a double dash (--) at the start of the line instead of searching in a complex filter where to put /* ...*/
Eric. What I mean is the Filter option when displaying the data (Data tab) of a table. You have the possibility to enter a Sort and a Filter (to reduce the data that is displayed). That Filter option has no possibility to enter multiple lines. So there is no way to 'format' the filter which would be nice in case of complex or large 'where clauses'.
What would you prefer, this (multiple lines) ?
AND ( p_peildatum IS NULL
OR
TRUNC(p_peildatum) BETWEEN TRUNC(dnm.datum_ingang)
AND TRUNC(NVL(dnm.datum_einde,p_peildatum))
AND ( p_ondergrens IS NULL
OR
TRUNC(p_ondergrens) <= TRUNC(NVL(dnm.datum_einde,p_ondergrens))
or this, like it is now (everything on one single line) :
( p_peildatum IS NULL OR TRUNC(p_peildatum) BETWEEN TRUNC(dnm.datum_ingang) AND TRUNC(NVL(dnm.datum_einde,p_peildatum)) ) AND ( p_ondergrens IS NULL OR TRUNC(p_ondergrens) <= TRUNC(NVL(dnm.datum_einde,p_ondergrens)) )

I think that I am missing something here but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,Is it still works fine with '14-JUN-2012' and doesn't work with '01-MAY-2012'?
Yes, It's true
Try:
1) Use your datastore prefixes in filters & mappings
*could you please let me know, what does this means datastore prefixes in filters & mappings *
2) Avoid implicit conversions, especially with DATE type
I am not sure on this, how to do the Avoid implicit conversions

Matchcode data filter with authorization
Hi guru's,
i have a problem with authorization in a BW query for the data
displayed in the matchcode selection window.
The problem refers to the characteristic 0cast_sales.
We have authorization objects for other characteristics that filter the
possible values of 0cast_sales in the query output, but we don't want
that the user can see all the possible data in the master data of
0cast_sales in the matchcode selection window.
Ex. if we have the authorization for a single sales office (0sales_off)
we want to see in the matchcode of customers (0cast_sales) only the
customers related to this sales office.
It is possible to filter the data in the matchcode selection window in
according to the authorization filter?
Actually we are on SAP BW 310
Thanks
AlbertoYou need to create an authorization variable for this InfoObject in the query

Interactive Report with Date Filter
Hi out there,
I created an interactive report which contains a date column. The default filter-options just work fine. But my users need to filter with the data which is contained in the report e.g. if a row contains 21.06.2000 they want to see this value in the filter-list of this date column and not the predefined defaults (last five years, last day and so on).
I already tried to specify the date as a string and did a select ... to_char ( date_column, 'dd.mm.yyyy' ) which broke the sorting but gave me the filter-options my users wanted. Specifing the date as yyyy.mm.dd is not an option for my users.
Is it possible to get a filter which shows the "real" data and keeps the right sort order ?
Regards and thanks
MarkusMarkus,
I've come up against this too. A varchar column gives you the selection list but no filtering using <,>,between etc., but a date column doesn't show the discrete data values. Users tend to ask for both, and putting both date and varchar columns in the report or using an LOV isn't very elegant.
Is there anything significant about the dates the users want to search directly on? Judging from your 21.06.2000 example I'd guess not, but if so you can build your own column in the SELECT statement and use that for filtering/creating default reports.
regards,
Malcolm.

Create prompt with date-filter and initialize it with current date
Oracle BI 11 g
Hi!
I need to create dashboard prompt with date-filter and initialize it with current date. How can I do that?
I tried to create repository initialization block and add variable. But I don't know what should I write to DataSource? I tried to use functions Now(), Current_Date, sysdate (for example, SELECT Now() FROM tbl_Calendar) but without results - when I pressed "Test..." button I got errors - something like "Now() is unknown function" or "Incorrect syntax near key word Current_Date".
After that I tied to use Presentation Variable in Prompt, but also without success ((
Please, help me.I've created Repository Variable "CurrentDate", using SQL-query like this "select convert(varchar(10), getdate(), 104)" and now this variable is being initialized by value "07.04.2011". But I don't understand how to use this varible in DashboardPrompt! What item in list "Default selection" I should choose - "Variable Expression", "Server Variable" or something else? When I chose "Variable Expression" and write "CurrentDate" I got just string "CurrentDate" when preview Prompt. @{CurrentDate} gave me the same result.

Hi,
How do you use Non-destructive filter with Nested XML data?
I am using the non-destructive filter sample with my own xml which is setup to search for the <smc></smcs> in my xml below. But when i test it it only searches the last row of the "smc". How can i make it work so it can search for repeating nodes? or does it have something to with how my xml is setup?

thank you!I apologize, im using Spry XML Data Set. i guess the best way to describe what im trying to do is, i want to use the Non-desctructive filter sample with the Spry Nested XML Data sample. So with my sample xml on my first post and with the same code non-destructive filter is using, im having trouble trying to search repeating nodes, for some reason it only searches the last node of the repeating nodes. Does that make sense? let me know.
thank you Arnout! -
Filter Data with Date range.Dates are selected in user form

Be careful; post the code you're actually running.
query 1: select count(*) from TEST_DATA where trunc(fdate) = trunc(sysdate);
query 2: select count(*) from TEST_DATA where fdate between trunc(sysdate) and trunc(SYSDATE) + .99999;

My questions:
1) Why isn't the index t_indx used in Execution plan 1?To use an index, the indexed column must stand alone as one of the operands. If you had a function-based index on TRUNC (fdate), then it might be used in Query 1, because the left operand of = is TRUNC (fdate).
2) From the execution plan, I see that query 2 & 3 is better than query 1. I do not see any difference between execution plan 2 & 3. Which one is better? That depends on what you mean by "better".
If "better" means faster, you've already shown that one is about as good as the other.
Queries 2 and 3 are doing different things. Assuming the table stays the same, Query 2 may give different results every day, but the results of Query 3 will never change.
For clarity, I prefer:
WHERE fdate >= TRUNC (SYSDATE)
AND fdate < TRUNC (SYSDATE) + 1(or replace SYSDATE with a TO_DATE expression, depending on the requirements).
3) I read somewhere - "Always check the Access Predicates and Filter Predicates of Explain Plan carefully to determine which columns are contributing to a Range Scan and which columns are merely filtering the returned rows. Be sceptical if the same clause is shown in both."
Is that true for Execution plan 2 & 3?

And that is a critical distinction to make. HTML parsing is horribly complex. XML is quite easy. For HTML you have to code your own parser in PL/SQL. XML can be parsed using the XMLTYPE class/data type in PL/SQL.
So if you need to find a single specific tag in HTML - I would not try to treat it as XML. I may not even try to use regular expressions.
I would do a basic substring search for the start of the tag. Read the data following the tag. Ensure that there are no nested or embedded tags in the data. Until the end tag is read. Because HTML is that much abused - and because that is an accepted norm as parsers used by browsers deals with that abuse without complaining.
Proper HTML is mostly a myth in my experience of "screen scraping" web servers for data extraction as they do not have web services supplying the data. -
Cube loaded with data, but unavailable in the query
Hello everyone,
Someone can help me?

To make sure that the data were correct did a ListCube, with all the filter equal to the query, and indeed the data is loaded properly for this year. And when i run the query with data from the years 2008 and 2009 show me data in my report, but when I run the query for 2010, the query displays an error message saying that "no data".
How is it possible to have the correct data in the Cube, and i can not view the data in the query?
Note: The request in the cube is available to report

Problem with DATE in Interactive Report
Hello,
In Interactive Report when I click on the header of any column with DATE datatype, nothing happens due to Javascript error:
Line: 2
Char: 14838
Error: Expected identifier, string or number
Code: 0
Click on any other column works perfectly as well as sorting by DATE column from Action Menu.
I tried to set different format masks for my DATE column and for Application Date Format, but it didn't help.
Finally I found out that this error disappeared when in properties of my DATE column in "List of Values" section I set "Report Filter Date Ranges" = 'Past' instead of 'All'. In this case I get the list with values "Last 5 Years", "Last 2 Years", etc, but not with "Next Hour", "Next 2 Hours", etc...
Can someone help me on this issue, because this functionality might be usefull and also it's not very convinient to change this property for all date columns in all Interactive Report.
By the way, my database version is 9.2.0.5 - maybe it can cause such problem?
