BOM Extract - BOM Qty Type

Hi Friends, Below is my client req on extracting BOM report:
QUANTITY_TYPE_FLAG  Please send value '3' when the Mfg BOM quantity is "as required", all other returns the value '1'.  The Quantity_Type is an attribute of Mfg BOM quantity to identify whether the quantity value is "per assembly", fixed or "as required".
The "as required" quantity is sometimes found with parts known as a Shim or a Wire.  Where the length of the Wire needed to used would be determined at the time of the assembly and may change based on actual length needed, it is not a fixed amount always to be used.  Likewise, the Shim(s) would vary based on space needed to fill and the number of shims may be different quantities based on need at time of assembly.
My question is now: As per my understanding we need to pass value '1' when component is not set as Bulk Material (as required type). Is it correct?
Expecting & appreciate faster response.
Thanks.

Hi Kevin,
What is the Field for QUANTITY_TYPE_FLAG ?

    Hi,
    You can use
    STKO - BOM Header details
    STPO - BOM item details
MAST - Material to BOM Link
STPOX - BOM Items (Extended for List Displays)
You can use the function module
CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 for exploring the BOm details.
Using this function module explored BOM details will be handled by STPOX structure.
I think it is useful for you.

  • BOM Explosion - special procurement  type 52 (collective order)

In BOM explosion, special procurement type -> collective order (52) for the item  is considered as phantom assembly. I wish to know the business reason for this. Any help please ??

    hi Janardhan,
phantom assembly is the assembly which is not kept in stock rather it consumes directly.
Use of phantom assemblies are as below
Phantom assemblies are assemblies that have their own product structure, but whose assembly does not actually physically exist. The components of the phantom assembly are incorporated directly in the superordinate product. The product structure of the superordinate product contains a reference to the phantom assembly.
example - A car with music system.
During backflush, only the goods movement for the phantom assembly components are posted. The phantom assembly is marked as backflushed but does not trigger any goods movement.
Experts pl correct me if i'm wrong.

  • Extract BOM data from R/3 to BW

    Hello BW Gurus,
what is the method of extracting BOM data from R/3 into BW.
    Thanks in advance.
    rgds,
    TR PRADEEP

    Hi Pradeep,
unfortunately you have to create something custom in order to manage BOM data in BW.
Doing that, consider that all your BOM data is available in R/3 tables  STKO and STPO (Header and Item).
With the table MAST you can find also the link among the combination material/plant with every BOM codes.
At this point your might create a view (and then link it with your custom datasource) by using these tables (however you have to consider your specific needs).
Please keep in mind that you will extract all historical data of that BOM number. So, use the "Created date" to use the BOM data you are interested in.
By the way, access against these tables is not so feasible...try to search in your R/3 (I don't have the access now) a function module (search with BOM) that has as input parameters BOM Header, Alternative and others and gives back a table of the respective BOM items. You can create an InfoSet on the table STKO, enhance it with some code that calls the FM and writes the returned values in the Infoset (then use it to create your custom datasource !)
    Hope it helps !
    Bye,
    Roberto

  • Sales BOM and BOM

    Hi All,
I was hoping someone could give me some information about Sales BOM and BOM.  How do they affect FI and or CO.  If anyone has any links or documents that i read about them id really appreciate them too.
    Thanks in advance,
    Noman

Noman plesae read below from a previous thread
    Points will be appreciated
Routing should define the production process, how to build the product from the BOM, so it is normal to have a routing having one or more operations each of which is assigned to a work center. Each workcenter can be assigned to a cost center and may have different types of activities that can be performed, each of which might have a different price at that cost center. This is how the routing, and hence the production order that has the routing will be costed when work is confirmed at the workcenter level, for the value added.
Material costs can be costed per BOM (target) and based on actual consumption (actual cost). Apart from these, it is possible to have overheads defined too.
Normally you should have a routing for the cost estimate with quantity structure. You can define one single dummy routing and assign it to any number of products, if you don't need it for any real work tracking (in case of a simple manufacturing process like kitting). That would significantly reduce your master data maintenance efforts.

    Hi,
Basically As you are aware BOM contains child parts of the parent material.
Routing defines how you are going to produce. ie operations,
If routing has say 3 operation steps you will define in the operation details where u will produce (work center) and time taken for each operation. Also you can maintain tools(PRT) for those operation and inspection datas(inspection time).
Next details in work center(which you are assigning in operation. In work center you will maintain the link between activity type and cost center. Activity type is for example labour hour. In costing KP26 transaction a link will be established for activity type and cost center and corresponding cost.
If you are using work center X having activity cost as 100 Rs/Hour. The system will calculate depending upon the time mentioned while confimation the cost.
Hope this will help how routing,BOM and cost are linked.
Please award points if this is really helpful

  • Object Links fields grey for Production Order,BOM header,BOm item

    Hello Friends,
    1) In DMS Object links tab ,for objects BOM header,BOM item,Production order fields are grey even though necessary settings are done. Is this standard or I am missing some config.
I did the similar settings for other objects like material master, vendor master, claim etc and I am able to assign these objects in Object links tab.
    2) In Production order I can assign the existing document but can't create document from Production order.I maintain value 1 in img Maintain screen for object link --> Auth.
Define doc type --> Define object links --> create document = 2 ( Use Transaction to Create Document)
I can create a document from other objects like Material Master,Claim,PO,PR with similar settings.
Kindly help me in this regard
    Regards
    Abhijit A. Pachgade

As u right said this is a standard.
generally a document can be attched from the function T-code or from the DMS T-code cvo1n, through the object link tab page. * BOTH WAYS POSSIBLE*
but for BOM, production order it is only one way, u can attach at the function T-code level like co01....ect  ONLY ONE WAY
especially for PP transation, its one way

  • Extract CRM Set Types to BW

    Hello SAP Experts,
We have a problem with customer defined set types in CRM. When we created these set types we forgot to select the checkboxes Relevant for BW and Relevant for Selection in BW in some of them. All of them have been assigned to a CRM object and the system is already in production, so we can’t  change the set types to mark those checkboxes.
We are now trying to extract these set types to BW. However only those with the checkboxes’ selected appear in the extracting structures. How can we extract the others to BW?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Steps for Extracting data from CRM:
    Configuration Steps
1.Click on ->Assign Dialog RFC destination
If your default RFC destination is not a dialog RFC destination, you need to create an additional dialog RFC destination in addition and then assign it to your default RFC destination
    2.Execute Transaction SBIW in CRM
    3.Open BC DataSources.
4.Click on Transfer Application Component Hierarchy
    Application Component hierarchy is transferred.

  • Super BOM, Multi BOM configurations

    Sir,
how configure Super BOM, and Multi BOM please provide me the configuration settings to do practise in my home PC.
    Thank u

    Hi Supraja Bolli
    BILL OF MATERIAL
The Material Ordered, Delivered and Billed consists of one or Several Components.
These components are called as Bill Of Materials
The Material Ordered by the Customer is referred as Main Item or Higher Level item. The Components are referred as Sub-items.
When we enter the Main-item in the Sales documents, the Components are automatically determined and this is called as expansion of Bill Of Materials.
In SD, we treat the processing of Boms in two ways.
         Processing at Main-item.
         Processing at the Sub-item
The Processing in both cases is controlled by the Item Categories and Schedule line Categories.
    Step: 1
Prepare the Martial Master for all the Materials, which is main-item and Sub-item.
In the Material Master, the Item Category group of the Main-item is important.
We need to Maintain the item category group for the Main-items and sub-items as follows.
    Scenario               Main-Item                    Sub-Item
    Processing at               ERLA                         NORM
    Main-item level
    Processing at               LUMF                         NORM
    Sub-items
    Item Category               TAQ                         TAE
    Schedule line               CP                         CT
    Category
    Step: 2
Let us take Computer as a Bom. It has Varies parts like Mouse, keyboard, Motherboard, Ram, CPU.
Let us take Computer has the main-item, and sub-item as the rest.
Prepare Material Master. We have to Prepare Material Master for Main-item and Sub-items.
    T-Code: MM01
First Prepare for Computer which is the Main-item.
In Sales: General/Plant. Maintain ERLA in the Item Category Group
Then Create and Save the Material Master
    Step: 3
Create Material Master for the Sub-item. That is for Keyboard, Mouse,
    Motherboard, Ram & CPU.
In Sales: General/Plant. Maintain NORM in the Item Category Group
Similarly Create Material Master for the rest of the Sub-item and SAVE.
    Step: 4
      Create Material Bom.
    T-Code: CS01
    Enter the Details
    Material no: xxxxxx
    Plant: xxxxxx
    Bom Usage: 5
    Then Enter
    Step: 4A
A screen will pop-up. Enter the details of Components such as:
Mouse , keyboard, Motherboard, Ram etc, in the screen
    Then SAVE
    Step: 5
    Create Condition Record.
    T-Code: VK11
Maintain Pricing for only the Main-item.
    Maintain Pricing only for Main-item.
    Thas is Computer.
    Then SAVE
    Step: 6
      Create Sales Order
    T-Code: VA01
    Enter only the Main-item.
    Then ENTER
    Step: 7
    The Bom Explodes
    Bom Explodes with the Sub-item.
Pricing is done only for the Main-item.
    Then SAVE
    Step: 8
    Create Delivery
    T-Code: VL01N
Picking is happening only for the Main-item and not the sub-item
    Then SAVE
    Then do billing.

  • Diff between Equipment BOM & Metrial BOM

    HI Gurus,
Could anyone tell me what is the difference between Equi BOM & Metrial BOM?
And also In PM,which one will effectively used?
Any help will appreciated with points.
    Regards,
    Vijay

The difference is that the equipment BOM its refered to an equipment. In general, i use this kind off BOM for representign the stucture of the equipment, particulary spare parts. They are design specifically for PM module.
Material BOM, instead, are usually a description of all the components that area part of a particular material. They are not only use in PM, but for PP, MM, etc.
You can use a Material BOM as part of Equipment BOM.
    Example:
    Equipment: Pummping system,
Eq. BOM: Pump, filters, Engine, etc.
Material BOM Pump: Part A, Part B, etc,
    Hope this help

  • Is it possible to set BOM's Assy Qty to zero

    Hi All,
We have a requirement that a consumed material is cannot defined how many qty would be consumed.
For example, a SFC will consume a component material (like Ink). User will mount a bottle of ink onto a machine when the ink is empty. In other words, they cannot define how many consumed qty of each SFC, just replace with a new Ink when the ink is empty.
I would like to ask is it possible to record a SFC assemble which Ink inventory_id and don't care consumed qty? I have tried to set Assy Qty to zero, but SAP ME does not allowed.
    Thanks!

SAP has never recognized this legitimate need in BOMs.  There are multiple reasons why they should allow quantity zero:
Reasons Why You Need Qty 0 in BOMs
    1.      A/R Materials (As Required):  Lubricants or Adhesives required to build a product are not rationed out by the drop, or by the bottle, but left to the assembler to determine the appropriate quantity based on SOE instructions.  On the drawings, Engineers will call out A/R (as required) in the qty box.
    2.     Variable qty items:  Shims or trimmer balance weights are issued as one each, but cannot be determined until the assembly of the product occurs.  As appropriate, differing quantities are issued to the product to fit the need for the specific machine being built.
    3.     REF Materials.  Quite often, assembly drawings will need to show the mating interface with other parts of the machine which are not actually part of the assembly.  In this case, we would show the interface as u201CREFu201D on one assembly, but as quantity u201C1u201D on another assembly.
    4.     Tooling:  Tooling needs to be tracked and linked to the assemblies that it is used on.  But it does not get consumed on a one-for-one basis with the assembly.  So we want to use SAP where-used capability by linking each tool within each BOM where it is relevant, but show the quantity as u201C0u201D.  On the drawing tooling is called out as REF.
    5.     Must Choose Optional Choices:  On u201Cassemble-to-orderu201D products, one of several different choices may be needed for various parts of the machine configuration.  These u201Cmust chooseu201D options are items where the machine will not be functional without one of the available choices (such as three choices of tires on a car.  The way these options are handled on the drawings is by showing them with Alpha characters in the quantity field where you u201Cmust chooseu201D one of the u201CAu201D items, one of the u201CBu201D items, and one of the u201CCu201D items to have a fully configured, workable machine.  On the BOMs, we call out all the choices as qty 0, with a note to refer to the customer sales order for which choice has been made.
    6.     May Choose Optional Choices:   On u201Cassemble-to-orderu201D products, in the case where an option is a u201Cmay chooseu201D option you may either order or the option or not; the machine will operate fine either way.  In this case the option would show on the drawing with an u201C*u201D in the quantity field and on the SAP BOM, you would call out quantity u201C0u201D with a note to refer to the customer sales order for which choice has been made.
    7.     Acceptable Substitute Items:  In some cases two interchangeable part numbers may be acceptable to use in the product.  For example, two manufacturers make RF drivers that are fully compatible and work fine in our machine.  But Field Service required the use of two distinct part numbers for reliability tracking, so the drawings allow for either part A or part B to be used.  Depending on the current cost/reliability/availability of the two parts, we will designate one item as quantity u201C1u201D in the SAP BOM and the other item as quantity u201C0u201D.  On the drawing, you call out one item as quantity u201C1u201D and the other as quantity u201C*u201D with a note explaining the ability to substitute one item for the other as desired.
    8.     JIT KIT support:  In order to efficiently procure and build product, we may create documents that are u201Csetsu201D of material that can be procured on a single PO.  So we end up with one set of drawings depicting way the machine is built and resides in the field for the next X years, and another group of drawings defining sets of material in special packaging aiding in efficient build of the product.  On both groups of drawings the quantity would be u201C1u201D (or whatever qty is needed on the machine) but in the SAP BOMs, only the JITKIT BOM would have a quantity >0.  The manufacturing BOMs would call out the u201Csetu201D as qty 1 but all the individual pieces of the set would be called out as qty u201C0u201D.  In that way when you look at the where-use of a component in one of the sets, you would be able to determine what assembly drawings the item appears on, and also which drawing is the u201Cactiveu201D driver of the material.
    9.     Request to move certain items to later in the build process:  Assembly drawings usually show the assembly in the finished state, as the assembly will look out in the field being used by the customer.  But internally in the factory we often desire the assembly to be built to an unfinished level with some pieces missing to allow for easier testing of the full product.  Or we may choose not to put the final cosmetic touches on a machine until close to the shipping point in order to avoid scratching or denting of exterior surfaces.  For example, a modulator assembly will be built with recyclable in-house panels and only have the finished panels swapped out for the recyclable tooling panels at the clean, pack, and ship operation.  Other assemblies will have access panels omitted altogether to allow for easy access for machine tuning in final test.  These missing panels would be added at clean, pack, and ship.  So in the SAP BOMs, we change the quantity from u201C1u201D to u201C0u201D in the assembly BOM, and create separate BOMs showing quantity u201C1u201D with the clean, pack, and ship items that complete the assembly built days or weeks earlier.
We have more than 25,000 occurrences of these types of needs for quantity zero in the BOM.  Our work around (until this SAP "bug" is fixed is to assign qty .001, then uncheck the production and costing relevancy within the BOM (Item Status Long Text).

  • BOM in Scheduling agreement (Type LZ)

    HI
I am using scheduling agreement (Type LZ) for maintaining my sales plan for a period of 4 months. (1st one month - daily & subsequent months as weekly requirements). Ii would create delivery and invoices for each supply.
Pricing previously was based on the finished product (basic price for product was available). SO there was no problem.
    <u>New requirement:</u>
finished Product above - is made up of components. Now, price should be derived from components. For this I have enabled SD Bom for my finish product.
But the problem is when i use the Finish product code in scheduling agreement type LZ, the BOM doesn't explode (it explodes in other scheduling agreement types, say LP)
    Clarification:
    1. Is it possible to calculate price of the higher level material by summing up the components' price?, with out BOM explosion
    2. Is BOM explosion possible in scheduling agreement with delivery schedule (LZ).
    Note:
    1. Necessary settings for item category & BOM master already in place.
    2. BOM is exploding in sales order and other sheduling types, except doc type LZ.

If it is maintained as error message, it does not allow me to maintain delivery schedule more than target quantity of 100 EA. Also the overdelivery tolerance is maintained as 20 %, so it should allow me to maintain delivery schedule of 120 EA, but it does not allow me to maintain greater than target quantity of 100 EA. Please let me know your comments.

  • BOM header qty change if BOM line item qty delivered more in previous deliv

    Dear team
    BOM is as follows:
    Finished product
          Material1   100 Units
          Material2   100 Units
Lets say i create a sales order with 2 units of finished products
then my sales order will look like:
    Finished Product 2 units
          Material1   100 Units
          Material2   100 Units
Now i am trying to create a delivery for 1 unit of finished product
    Finished Product 1 units
          Material1   150 Units
          Material2   100 Units
Here i change the Material1 quantity from 100 to 150 Units and create delivery.
Now i am creating a second delivery
In the delivery order i am getting as:
    Finished Product 0.5 Units
         Material1   50 Units
         materail2  50 Units
    But i want
Finished Product 1 units  (as my finished product open quantity is 1M3)
        Material1   50 Units
        material2  100 units
Can this be achieved.  Because of more despatch of BOM line items my header BOM item should not change.  It should be same as my open quantity in delivery.

    Hi,
It depends upon how u are maintaining the BOM. The components calculated is based on the BOM base qty.
    Regards,
    V. Suresh
