Books: Sorting PDF's / Using info fields with PDF's

Since it is possible to manage PDF's in iTunes, I've been importing quite a few (well, just drag and drop). So far, I just changed the Name field to the title of the article or book, the Artist field to the authors name, and picked an appropriate genre.
Since the info fields aren't really made for books and articles, I'm wondering which fields to use for publisher and series information.
Anybody experimented with this already?

You may try the VBScript in that discussion:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3796931#3796931
If it works change your *.net script to that.
If it not work try to get another one to test it on Acrobat X.
Should be simple because VBS run's on every Win-PC.

Reinhard

  • JS error while using input fields with type=file on XP SP2

    Hi all,
    we found a new problem in applications which use input fields with type=file running in a browser on Microsoft Windows XP with SP2.
    A typical test layout might look like:
    <html>
      <head>
        <title>File-Upload</title>
      </head>
      <body>
        <form action="/cgi-bin/upload.pl" method=post
              enctype="multipart/form-data">
          <input type=file size=50 maxlength=100000 name="file"
                 accept="text/*"><br>
          <button onclick="document.forms[0].submit();">Send</button>
        </form>
      </body>
    </html>
    When you add a link without the fully qualified path (for example pic01.jpg instead of c:\pictures\pic01.jpg) and click on the 'Send' button, nothing happens and you get a Javascript error 'Access denied'.
    The solution can be found in the MS Knowledge Base article 892442:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;892442
    We still investigate this issue and will inform you about the further proceeding.

  • Address Book Server will not sync all fields with iOS client

    Hello,
    I am getting really frustrated with my Mac Mini Server.
    Apparently, the Address Book Server DOES NOT sync all fields.
    Only standard vCard-fields seem to synced.
    I have not successfully synced user-defined fields, such as an additional date.
    Any ideas / infos on how to achieve this if this possible at all?
    Thanks for the input,
    Erasmus
    One thing: I posted the same question in the "Lion" (non-server) discussion - sorry for any confusion.
    One thing I noticed:
    All changes made on the server in the OS X Address Book are distributed to two iOS clients (iPod 4th Gen iOS4 iPhone 3GS iOS 4).
    Any help is appreciated.

    Sorry for answering myself...
    I just found out that after editing the newly distributed entry on an iOS4-Client, some fields on the server are deleted!

  • Can i use data merge with pdf images in indesign?

    Hi need to do a data merge but with pdf's not jpg or tifs. I am having the result with jpgs but not with pdf's.
    Can i do it with pdf's?

    in fact that is not a problem because i have both pdfs same size and orientated, the only thing is that i cannot use the pdf docs for some reason.
    eg. in the csv file i have (this is not working)
    Field 1                                      Field2
    '@background                          '@page
    Machintosh HD:bg1.pdf           Machintosh HD:page1.pdf
    eg. in the csv file i have (this works)
    Field 1                                      Field2
    '@background                          '@page
    Machintosh HD:bg1.psd           Machintosh HD:page1.psd
    I would like to use the pdf file is there a different way to do so?

  • PDF files used to open with a "save" option, and I have Acrobat 9 Pro installed on my system (running Windows 7). Now, that icon is gone and I can't save. Is there another way to configure the plug-in or is Firefox preventing this or what? THANK YOU.

    this is a new problem. Running Windows 7, latest update of Firefox 3.6.13. Under "Applications", I'm set to "open Adobe Acrobat inside Firefox" (which is what I have always done, then if I wanted to, I saved the PDF file elsewhere). should I/ can I open the PDFs outside Firefox, with my Adobe 9 Pro program?

    ■ Use '''Tools -> Options -> Applications ->''' <br> then look under content for Adobe Acrobat forms etc;
    <br> note a choice of options is usually available
    * see [[Options window - Applications panel]]
    Firefox is of course a web browser. <br>Acrobat reader is Adobe's program used to read and display the pfd files on your computer. Other programs may be used instead of Acrobat reader. You would normally have the Acrobat program and the pdf file present on the local computer, often both on the same hard drive, if you were opening individual pdf files directly with Acrobat.
    Firefox uses a plugin so that it may use Acrobat to open pdf files and display the results within a firefox window or tab. If you do not have that plugin installed, or it is not enabled firefox may be unsure what to do with the file and offer to save it to whatever your default local download location is, without attempting to open the file in firefox.

  • Info field with Rulluptime in WAD

    Hi
    In the WAD we use a info field element that shows the rolluptime of the data provider. The time is not the same as shown in the administartion of the info cube (differs by one hour). All our systems use the same clock which is correct. Could it be that the time shown in the WAD is allways using GMT time and not GMT+1 which we are located in?
    We use NW04s BI SP09
    Kind regards
    Erik

    Hi Arun
    Thanks for answering my question. We don't use a multi provider. If I run the query in RSRT I get the correct time. If I run the query i Analyzer (excel) I get the correct time. But if I run the query in Query Designer I get the wrong time. Both WAD and Query Designer use the portal and they both give the wrong time (most likely GMT time).
    The use that I use is set up to use CET (GMT+1) in SU01 (we use CUA).
    Kind regards
    Erik

  • Opening PDF files using preview on some PDF file result in the content not displaying properly. The file I tried to look at has pictures and text. The pictures are displayed ok but the text is shown as pixalated boxes. The same file opens ok via a PC.

    Solutions please. Accessing PDF files online using preview normally works ok. However there are a clutch of files on the mothers union web site that although can be opened, present text as pixalated boxes. The pictures contained in the documents are however displayed OK. I experience the same problem on my Imac and my wifes laptop that runs Lion. The same site has other PDF files that can be opend OK. If I access the same problem files using a PC laptop running microsoft windows, they are opened OK with the text displayed as it should be. This is driving me mad....

    Yes. Word 2007. (You can see it in Preview if you do ⌘I or choose Tools > Show Inspector.) And it's the transparency issue. The three pics attached show the Jan 2012 newsletter (a) in Preview, (b) in Acrobat Pro, (c) again in Preview, after I saved it in Acrobat, flattening the transparency.
    For you, the solution is to use Adobe Reader -- with due note taken of
    <http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb12-01.html>
    For them, I don't know. Presumably, they wish max compatibility for their newsletter, but I really don't know how Office 2007 generates PDF. Maybe they should check transparency settings and flatten before generating PDF? Or perhaps save as PDF v1.4 instead of PDF v1.5? I would use Distiller, but perhaps they can't afford it.

  • Error from reports from ZAM(Graph or PDF) - File does not begin with '%PDF-'.

    I just noticed today that any Graph or PDF report I try to view I get the
    following error - Error from reports from ZAM - File does not begin with
    '%PDF-'. I tried to just save the file and then open it, but get the same
    error. I can open other pdf files I have downloaded from other sites ok.
    Anyone have any idea? I haven't done anything to that server that I am
    aware of in quite a while.
    Thanks
    Bill

    I took a closer look at the files it downloaded, opened them with notepad,
    haer is what it says:
    XSL Transform or subsequent processing failedThe document has no pages.

  • How to Sort JTable data using Multiple fields (Date, time and string)

    I have to fill the JTable data with some date, time and string values. for example my table data looks like this:
    "1998/12/14","15:14:38","Unicorn1","row1"
    "1998/12/14","15:14:39","Unicorn2","row2"
    "1998/12/14","15:14:40","Unicorn4","row3"
    "1998/12/17","12:14:12","Unicorn4","row6"
    Now the Sorted Table should be in the following way:
    "1998/12/17","12:14:12","Unicorn4","row6"
    "1998/12/14","15:14:40","Unicorn4","row3"
    "1998/12/14","15:14:39","Unicorn2","row2"
    "1998/12/14","15:14:38","Unicorn1","row1"
    ie First Date field should be sorted, if 2 date fields are same then sort based on time. if date and time fields are same then need to be sorted on String field.
    So if any one worked on this please throw some light on how to proceed. I know how to sort based on single column.
    But now i need to sort on multiple columns.So what is code change in the Comparater class.
    Thanks in advance.. This is urgent....

    I think your Schedule objects should implement Comparable. Then you can sort your linked list using the Collections.sort() method without passing in a Comparator.class Schedule(Date date, String class) implements Comparable
      public void compareTo(Object obj)
        Schedule other = (Schedule)obj;
        return date.getTime() - other.getDate().getTime();
    }

  • Delayed email using email printer (with PDF)

    My objective is to send emails using email's printer.
    Firstly, I had created one printer (EMAIL-PDF) at transaction SPAD, with:
       Device Type : PDF1
       Device Class: Standart Printer
       Access Method: M
    As the node SMTP was already configurated at transaction SCOT, I tried to send some email,
    printing some lists to this printer. As I received no email at my Outlook, I continued my
    research. After hours I received some emails of my firsts tests. Very strange, but this showed me that the configuration of SCOT was correct.
    Then I saw, at transaction SOST, all email that I had been generated by my printings, but
    it was scheduled for two hours after the moment I generated them.
    I would like to know why this happened and what can I do to correct this ?
    Ricardo

    My send job is schedule to run every 15 minutes.
    See an example:
    [08:00] I made a printing to a email printer
    [08:00] I go to the transaction SOST and I can see my request on send queue, but it schedules to 10:00.
    Look the message of the request: Will be sent after 23.02.2007 10:00:00
    It isn't work if I run the "send job" often, because the request is schedule to run two hours later.
    Until now, the only way that to the process works fine is change send time manually, at SOST.
    But if I send an email by Business Workplace (transaction SO02), the email is schedule to send right now.
    I can't understand the two hours later only for email generated by printing.

  • To access bookmarks in pdf doc using acrobat sdk with C#

    Hi, I am converting a word doc to PDF. While doing this the headlines in word doc are getting converted to bookmarks in PDF & I get a bookmark tree. I want the bookmarks to be collapsed. I am using acrobat dll to convert word doc to pdf. Want to use the same to collapse the bookmarks.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Irosenth,
    If we have Acrobat installed on our m/c in Micorsoft office word I get an "Acrobat" tab. In that I get an option to create "PDF" from word.
    So keeping this in mind I created a  project in C# using VS 2008. In this project I took the reference of "Acrobat.dll" the com library.
    Using the reference of this library I converted the word/excel/ppt docs to PDF.
    Below is the code snippet :
    public
    void startConversion(string docFile, string pdfFile){
    Acrobat.
    AcroAVDocClass _acroDoc = new Acrobat.AcroAVDocClass();Acrobat.
    AcroPDDoc _pdDoc = null;
    string strNonPDFFile = docFile;
    string strPDFFile = pdfFile;
    _acroDoc.Open(strNonPDFFile, strPDFFile);
    _pdDoc = (Acrobat.
    AcroPDDoc)(_acroDoc.GetPDDoc());
    _pdDoc.Save(
    Convert.ToInt16(Acrobat.PDSaveFlags.PDSaveFull), strPDFFile);
    _pdDoc.Close();
    _pdDoc =
    null;_acroDoc.Close(1);
    _acroDoc =
    null;}
    This does convert Word/exce/ppt to pdf successfully. But I wanted to get access to the bookmarks of the PDF file....
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Form on a report - using a field with search button to run report

    I am trying to do a very simple report with a custom search field on the top of the form. I am looking at Denes Kubicek's example of Search form on table. Page 68. I want to have a region with the fields to search on, a button and then a report with the data.
    I am having problems getting the report to run with the data. Is there an easy step by step guide to do this somewhere? Is there a 'trick'? I setup the branches (created by my buttom), the items, the button, the 2 regions (form on table ) and my report. I don't need the process search_empno as i don't have any hidden fields.
    Is there a step by step explanation of how to create the search field and have it call the report? It's wonderful to have the examples but i'm not sure what i am missing
    thanks

    Thank you very much. I just went through the report wizard and it didn't ask me which field to query on? I wonder if that is only in certain versions? :(There is a little select box: "Enable Search" on one of the wizard pages. It defaults to NO. Set it to YES and the columns to search on are shown.
    i think it is the wizard-page just after you add the query for the report.
