"Bounce to new track" creates a mixdown 2/3 volume of the original

When I right click and bounce a track to a new track, the resulting Mixdown file shows as only about 2/3 the volume of the original. The original is -1, the Mixdown is -4. It also looks flat and compressed. I have no buses and the volume/pans are all at 0. If I right click and "export to file" I get the same result. Shouldn't the mixdown be identical to the original track?
I've checked all settings.

Thanks for the tips. Export gives the same results, in fact, every way of creating a bounce, including bounce to new track, mixdown to track, bounce master to track, and export file all have the same results, -3db cut.
My session as has no effects racks, buses, volume or pan changes. Tech support tells me that this -3db cut is a standard thing and actually Protools does the same thing, except in protools you can disable it. So far tech support hasn't been able to help me (after several hours on the phone).
The thing is I can also create a new session and have the same problem. When I change the stereo panning parameter to logarithmic in a new session it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I have also deleted my ini settings and started from scratch, but the results are still unpredictable and baffling. One thing is predictable though....no matter what I do to my real session I cannot bounce my tracks to files without a -3db cut, no way no how, and believe me, my session is clean. I have also tried with other sessions in progress and the result is the same. The only time I have had a good result was once when I created a new session, and changed the stereo panning to log.. but I was able to do this only once, and haven't been able to repeat the good result.
I even tried panning and saving a stereo track then pasting one side into a new mono file, but this also has processing and the data is actually clipped when I do this, because of the way audition treats stereo panning on bounce. This is not an ideal solution.
It's wacky and given that many people now are working in multi studio scenarios and flying in tracks it is essential to be able to create pristine stem files. irg....@! I need to send my drum tracks out west asap! Very frustrating. Surely someone else out there must be having the same problem! Does anyone else out there ever bounce to a new track?

What's the 'best' way to copy a usable project to new one so it can be modified without affecting the original?

I'm pretty much a LavVIEW newbie.
I'm using LabVIEW 2012 Full on Windows 7. I copied a project using Save As-Duplicate in Project Explorer. It created an excessively long, complex directory structure. It resulted in 'too long' errors (presumably from the PATH being too long).
The intent was to get a copy of the usable project to be able freely modify it without damaging the original.
I've poked around the forums and knowledge base, didn't see anything definitive. I'm guessing the information is already posted but I just haven't been able to find it. A point in the correct direction would be appreciated.

Much easier to remove then add, which is why I copied the tree and delete things not needed. But I do agree that these actors/engines could be more reusable. I do have them in lvlib form but many times there will be coupling between actors that are unavoidable. If the UPS actor detects a power outage it needs to tell the sequencing actor to stop testing if a testing is going on. For that reason I have a hard time splitting some actors into reusable modules, because they are only reusable if other components are there.

For some reason, I needed to change the password and it seems that the website can only be accessed using the original chain password. Is there a way to create a file merge that updates from the original source file if changes are made?

I have thousands of PDF documents that are merged with other files. I'll give an example so it's easier to understand.
File #1 may be merged (or in a portfolio) with Files #2 and #3 but also in another merge (or portfolio) with Files #3 and #4.
If I update File #1, is there a way for it to automatically update both of the merge or portfolio files with the updated File #1? (File#1 would be replaced, same name and location).

You would need to add favorites to the WebHelp output prior to creating a CHM. You would need something along the lines of: http://www.wvanweelden.eu/product/favorites-widget-webhelp
But since it's in a CHM, I'm not sure whether you will be able to save anything from the webhelp output between sessions.

Can Disk Utility create a duplicate boot disk identical to the original?

Here is what I have in mind.
I have a PB12G4 with an external Firewire Bootable Drive.
I used the "RESTORE" command to "Restore" the PB onto the External Drive, and... IT WORKED, I can even start up my PB from the external FW Drive...
EXCEPT, that in the process a few extra folders (which do not appear on the PB Drive) have now become visible.
Is there a way to make an exact "copy" of the PB Boot Disk without these weird folders showing up?
Moreover is this RESTORE method reliable, or am I looking at some long term issues? Imagine, the advantage:
no OSX CDs, multiple installation DVDs, long hours sitting in from the computer etc..., just one click of the mouse and a couple of hrs golfing while the drive is being copied.

Ignore those folders. Cloning would bring the same folder. The .hidden file basically tells the machine which folders to hide. You want those folders to exist on any clone you make. The only way to not make those folders appear is to boot off the drive, and make sure the .hidden file includes those same folders in that same path.
But they are important folders for the operation of the system, without which it wouldn't boot at all.
The biggest issue is that you can't make subsequent copies only copy that data which has been added, changed, or remove copies of data which have been deleted. It can only restore the complete system to an empty system. For true cloning I use Shirt Pocket's Superduper. For more on backing up see my FAQ:

It sounds like this is much more than an iTunes problem. I suggest you post in the operating system forum version for your computer (we have no idea which OS you are running nor what model computer).

When creating new track in stereo... track opens in mono in arrange window

Since upgrading to 8.0.2...weird things are happening to previously saved projects. Stereo tracks are opening up mono and affecting following track. When creating new tracks in stereo.... tracks open mono. I don't know if this is due to 8.0.2 but all these freaky things have happening since. Also, when previewing Apple Loops, I can only hear it on one side, but Loops sounds fine once dragged to arrange window. Is this common or is my computer haunted ? Should I call Ghost Busters ? HELP !!! lol

I'm having the same problem as well: creating new tracks results in a mono software instrument, not the usual stereo software instrument. BUT... "Universal Track Mode" is already checked in my Audio prefs. I unchecked & rechecked it, but to no avail... I'm still only getting mono software instruments.
Any other ideas? No changes have been made to my system, and I'm running the latest version of Logic Pro.

Creating New Track

Newbie question - been trying to create more audio instrument tracks, but everything I do to try to separate them from the original (Instrument 4) track changes that original track as well. Both the manual and Sitter's book say to just hold the new track's name and from the pop-up menu, pick a new instrument from the list. The only problem with that is that the pop-up menu ONLY SHOWS ME THE INSTRUMENTS CURRENTLY IN USE BY THE OTHER FOUR TRACKS. It doesn't show me all 128 instruments and let me pick. When I try to change the intrument of the new track using the Channel selection in the Object Paramater box (which DOES list all 128 instruments) it also changes the instrument in the original channel. So both the new and the old channel remain totally linked and anything I do in the new channe (volume, pan, etc.) is mirrored in the old channel.
How do I de-link a new channel from an old one? (Seems like a dumb default to assume the new channel takes on the instrument as the predecessor instead of just picking the next). And yes, I've also tried creating a new one by double-clicking the first empty slot at the bottom of the Arrange window and by selecting 'Track' - 'Create with Next Instrument'. No difference - still creates using the last instrument and only shows me the instruments in use when I try to pick a new one. Help?

All instruments shown here are read from templates in the system library:
Your Harddisk -> Library -> Application Support -> GarageBand -> Templates -> Projects -> 01. Piano.band
If you only could not create new projects from the instruments panel, I'd assume, the "Sharing and Permissions" setting for these files are corrupted.
But since you cannot open any projects, there must be something wrong with the "Sharing and Permissions" in your home folder.
Launch Disk utility from Applications -> Utilities, and start "Verify Disk Permissions".
If permissions need repairing, run "repair disk permissions".

Closed Activities not transported - How to get stuff into new track?

We encountered some problems with an SCA-export from ASM system leaving some not transported, but closed activities on DEV CONS behind.
How can we arrange to integrate the content of these closed activities, which don' t show in CMS any more, into a new track?

I meant the assembly system. The activities haven' t been transported, but seem to be closed in CMS.
To clear the situation a little more, let me explain what has happened: A colleague created a SCA, deployed it on a runtime system and found out that some screen elements, which were present on development runtime system, are missing.
We figured out that there are some actitivies haven' t been transported to assembly system and are yet closed and not available for transport in CMS.
Now, our two questions would be
1) will releasing and trasnporting dummy activity to assembly to force all changes reach SCA work?
2) will copying the source DC DTR workspace to destination workspace work? (we have problem not being able to delete folders in DTR as they are created by CMS)

N80 - Music Player does not see new tracks in musi...

I updated my N80 with the latest firmware last week. I recently added fur new tracks to my phone. I can see the track in the gallery under tracks but when I go to the music player, and into the music library the tracks are not there, even if i say update music library it tells me 0 tracks updated/added. Please help.

To the guys who posted earlier... have you found the solution for this problem?
My N80 has been updating fine until two days ago when i uploaded new songs... the tracks get in but the music library doesn't update these new tracks in, it would register 0 added tracks then after the update it would say that there are no tracks in at all... you need to get out of the music player first & reenter it to see the tracks that were already there before the new ones... if i try to remove tracks, the update works fine & would record the removed tracks... what is wrong????

Can I convert tracks from one format to another so that the converted tracks appear in the various playlists of the originals?

I have a large number of tracks which I should like to convert from one format to another (aiff to Apple lossless). These tracks are distributed in a large number of playlists. Can I convert a track or tracks from one format to another so that the converted track appears in the playlist of the original track without going through a laborious and error-prone process of converting each track individually, determining the playlist of the original, and allocating the converted version to the playlist (or playlists, because in many cases the original track exists in more than one playlist) of the original track.

I do not believe iTunes will do this. The files created are essentially new media files, not regarded as replacements for old files. There may be ways to trick iTunes if you are good at editing library files but that would be more trouble than it is worth.

How can I create multiple pages, with different layouts to the others, in DW fluid grid layouts?

I am creating a website using FGL in DW CS6, v12.0 build 5808. I do not have Creative Cloud (do you have to pay to use this service?).
I have created one layout for my home page.
I would like to create several more pages, but I want them to use different layouts (as well as different content).
I tried to do something similar before using 'save as' (this was with a non-FGL), but whenever I changed the original page that I had 'save as'd' from, the layout in all the other pages would change too!

I'm a bit scared of breaking everything, as I am new to web design and have had to restart the whole process a few times due to messing up the fluid.css etc and other issues, so I am taking baby steps.

I tried using different IDs for the other pages, but eventually one of the divs seems to 'break' - it overlaps other divs, or cannot be moved or resized (you can select the outline and it goes blue, but no 'move up a row' or down a row or 'lock to grid' etc icons appear and it can't be drag-re-sized), plus the green overlay disappears (just from that div. I'm aware of how to turn visual aids on and off), so it seems broken. This often seems to happen if you rename a div once it's been created; it does not rename in the layout.css on the right side panel (CSS Styles) in DW and the 'broken' behaviour above is exhibited. Do you know anything about this? Is this the 'edit this doc at your peril' stuff that most tutorials seem to mention? Am I doing something wrong?
I also tried making an FGL and saving out the original boilerplate.css, layout.css and respond.js. Then created multiple new FGLs and each time it created new versions of layout.css (called 'untitled-1', 2 etc.). Once I had created all the FGLs, I deleted all the new boilerplates and untitled.css files. Then restored the original ones and changed the link at the top of each page's html to refer to the same filename (the original layout.css), rather than untitled.css. I thought this might work and it seemed to for a while, but then as I had to add new div names for the sections on each page, it eventually broke (as above).
Anyway, I think you have a good point about different layouts and it occurred to me also while I was exploring and waiting for replies here. I think I will make one layout for all pages and go with that. I have a couple of questions about that though:
1. I think the max number of divs I want for one of the pages is 10, but some pages need less divs. If I only fill e.g. 8 divs on one page, will the other ones be sat there empty? I think they will actually...I guess I'm asking because I have not tried it yet (will do after this) and it takes so long to do this trial and error.
2. If the amount of content in each div is different, e.g. let's say Page 1 has 6 lines of content in div1, but page 2 may have an unlimited amount of content (I will want to add to it in the future). Will this result in the div on page 1 being a huge block of empty space after its 6 lines?
