Hi, all
I have problem with offline backup.
For backup i use mtx and scripts mount_tape.sh and dismount_tape.sh
script mount_tape.sh loading media tapes in robot head
script dismount_tape.sh unloading media tapes
All online backups working with this scripts and perform successfully
I can manually connect to server r2 using rsh. (rsh r2)
All online backups finished without errors.

HI all,
Our database backup was running ok for the passed 3 months after the SAP system was installed. Recently, I keep getting BR278E error during backup. Below are the error message:
BR0202I Saving init_ora
BR0203I to /dev/rmt/0mn ...
BR0278E Command output of 'LANG=C cd /oracle/PRD/102_64/dbs && /usr/sap/PRD/SYS/
exe/run/brtools -f printarg initPRD.ora spfilePRD.ora | LANG=C cpio -ovB > /dev/
rmt/0mn':
initPRD.ora
spfilePRD.ora
^GEnd of medium on "output".
To continue, type device/file name when ready.
The SAP system is on Solaris/Oracle running ECC6.0. LTO-4 tape drive is used for the backup. Tape_size in initSID.sap is set to 720000M. Current database size is 128Gb.
What is the reason for the backup failure?

Hello,
We are currently using Windows Server Backup to backup three Hyper-V guests running on a Windows 2008 R2 host. Two guests are running Server 2008 R2 and one is running Windows 7. I have the backups going to a dedicated external disk drive.
WSB backs up the two 2008 R2 Hyper-V guests just fine. However, when attempting to backup the Windows 7 Hyper-V guest, I receive the following error:
Error in backup of <Windows 7.vhd> during read: Error [0x80070001] Incorrect function.
I ran a "vssadmin list writers" and all the VSS writers showed "Stable" with no errors. I have plenty of space on the external drive as well. I've read this article:
https://support.microsoft.com/kb/973455?wa=wsignin1.0#workaroundissue12 except that doesn't seem to be what I'm experiencing here.
Anyone have any suggestions?Hi,
As the other 2 guests could be backed up correctly, the issue should not be the Windows Server Backup feature.
First please refer to this article:
Backing Up and Restoring Virtual Machines
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd405549(v=vs.85).aspx
Please check if all following requirements are met. Specifically please check if Integration Service is installed.
Backup (volume snapshot) Integration Service is installed and running in the child VM. The service name is "Hyper-V Volume Shadow Copy Requestor".
Windows 2000: Backup Integration Service is not supported.
The child VM must be in the running state.
The Snapshot File Location for the VM is set to be the same volume in the host operating system as the VHD files for the VM.
All volumes in the child VM are basic disks and there are no dynamic disks.
All disks in the child VM must use a file system that supports snapshots (for example, NTFS).
If you have any feedback on our support, please send to [email protected] -
Time Machine Error - The backup is too large for the backup disk
I have been using Lion (currently 10.7.1) on my MacBook Pro (13" - early 2011) since it was released. I haven't had any serious problems with it.
All of a sudden, I am getting an error in Time Machine. When it tries to run a backup, the error "This backup is too large for the backup disk. The backup requires 7.51 GB but only 630.1 GB are available." What gives? That's plenty of room. I have installed Logic Studio and a few plug-ins, so the 7.51 GB is probably right. The free space is correct as well. I can't understand what the problem is.
The backup disk is an external USB 2.0 drive with no other Time Machine backups on it or any other files. The folder "Backups.backupdb" is the only thing on the root of the disk.
I am reluctant to reset the Time Machine and lose all of the backups, but I will if anyone recommends it.Hi Linc,
It is not working at the moment, as I have restored the original Lion image again; it has all my work and apps on it.
Many thanks for the info on the log, though. It tells a strange story. Here's the log from the last backup that worked to the first one that failed: --

I don't understand. For starters, I think it's a little wasteful that 3.5 GB has been used to back up 601 KB. That's the difference in free space on the backup volume between the two backups. That can't be normal, surely.
The only error is that mds[32] error, and from what I've read on forums, that seems to appear on backups that work perfectly.
Too weird. It looks like I'll have to reinstall Lion and all my applications again to get Time Machine working, or find another backup solution. -
Time Machine did not back up:
Time Machine Error; ("The backup disk image "/Volumes/Data/My MacBook Pro.sparsebundle" is already in use.")

Thanks! You need to be careful Bob.. people might take this literally.

Hi,
I'm running adobe digital editions on a Mac OS X 10.6.3 and I keep getting this error message whenever I open adobe digital editions.
Error creating backup file: /Users/yongrufui/Documents/Digital Editions/backup_manifest.xml
Error detail: Error #2038
This message also appears when I go to Library view. And I can't load my new ebook either.
Please help!I wish I had an answer, but I have the same problem. My error is: Error Creating Backup File c:windows\personal\MyDigital Editions\Backup_Manifest.xml
Error Detail: Error #2038
I've reported this to Adobe and someone is trying to resolve, but its been over 4 days now. All of the suggestions provided so far haven't fix it.
I get this error upon Launching ADE. Always comes up on Launch, but I can move on by clicking OK. However, all that does is remove the error message. Still cannot download books from library. -
i am running 10.7.5 on an older MacBook and getting Time Machine error The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/Kathy P’s MacBook.sparsebundle” is already in use. what do i do now?

Hi,
I'm having a serious issue with your brend new Cisco Prime Network Control System (NCS) and i would appreciate if someone could give me good answers.
After a background backup task failure, the database was entirelly corrupted and the oracle server no longuer wanted to start. And because of that the NCS web server is unusable, since no one can log in.
We tryed to restore to last known backup obtained after a former suucessful backup. But we get this error:
"ERROR: invalid backup file version. Exception: Error while unzipping invalid wcs 7.x export file"
All the lost data was previously migrated from the former WCS 7.x server. Before this issue everything was working fine.
So we think that the appliance is seeing the backup file from NCS as a WCS backup.
We need to find rapidly a solution. Here is our configuration:
We formerly had WCS 7.0.172.0 hosted on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2 with the above caracteristics:
Intel(R)Xeon(R) CPU 5120 @ 1.86Ghz 1.87Ghz 16GB of RAM.
We now have NCS Version 1.1.1.24 running under Cisco Application Deployment Engine
OS Release: 2.0
ADE-OS Build Version: 2.0.1.038
ADE-OS System Architecture: x86_64I was getting this error too. TL;DR: When you transfer the wcs.zip file to your FTP server, make sure you are using BINARY mode... which is often NOT the default FTP mode.
Long Version:
TO GET THIS ERROR, what I had done was use the Windows CLI FTP command to transfer my "wcs.zip" to the NCS FTP server.
-----BEGIN WRONG STEPS-----
C:\ftp
ftp> open x.x.x.x
Connected to x.x.x.x.
220 Service ready for new user
User (x.x.x.x:(none)): ftp-user
331 User name okay, need password for ftp-user
Password:
230 User logged in, proceed
ftp> put wcs.zip
200 Command PORT okay
150 File status okay; about to open data connection
226 Closing data connection
ftp: 526768949 bytes sent blah blah etc
-----END WRONG STEPS-----
I would then run "ncs stop" and "ncs migrate" and get the "ERROR: invalid backup file version. Exception: Error while unzipping invalid wcs 7.x export file".
I remembered something from my misspent youth: Windows, for no good reason, likes to transfer files in ASCII mode. UNIX (which LINUX comes from) prefers BINARY, and the two do not like to negotiate.
TO FIX THIS, I had to just FTP in Binary mode.
-----BEGIN RIGHT STEPS-----
C:\ftp
ftp> open x.x.x.x
Connected to x.x.x.x.
220 Service ready for new user
User (x.x.x.x:(none)): ftp-user
331 User name okay, need password for ftp-user
Password:
230 User logged in, proceed
ftp> binary
200 Command TYPE okay
ftp> put wcs.zip
200 Command PORT okay
150 File status okay; about to open data connection
226 Closing data connection
ftp: 526768949 bytes sent blah blah etc
-----END RIGHT STEPS-----
NOW when I enter "ncs stop" (actually... had to restart them... then stop them... x.x) and then the proper "ncs migrate" commands, I get a happy output and don't have to go home late troubleshooting this.

Stage 3 of 5: Restoring Data ...
I hope this helps anyone banging their head against the WCS->PI1.3 install wall.
(Note, WCS needs to be migrated to NCS 1.1.1.24 (NOT NCS 1.1.3!!!!!) before you can migrate to Prime Infrastructure 1.2 or 1.3, because for no readily apparent reason the "ncs migrate" command was removed from PI 1.2 and up. Also note, there is no "Prime Infrastructure 1.1;" they just renamed NCS to Prime Infrastructure after NCS 1.1 because. Yes, the sentence ends there. Great products, all 3, just... agonizing to migrate.) -

Can someone please tell why I am having errors ?
Thanks. Dan.You cannot take a backup of a database that is OPEN if it is in NOARCHIVELOG mode. You need to switch the database to ARCHIVELOG mode (and have it generate ArchiveLogs which you *must* backup with the database) !
These are the instructions to backup a database that is in NOARCHIVELOG mode :
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/backup.112/e10642/rcmquick.htm#sthref113
Essentially, you need to SHUTDOWN and then MOUNT (but not OPEN) the database before you can take a backup. That means the database is NOT available to users for the duration of the backup. Also, you can only do a RESTORE of the database to that time of the backup and not RECOVER it to any intermediate time between two backups (because you wouldn't have the ArchiveLogs required for the point in time recovery).

Errors during backup of MSSQL 2005 using DB13
Hi,
I have an ECC 5.0 system, and when I try to perform any kind of backup of a MSSQL 2005 database using DB13 I get an error like this:

The strange thing is that if I create a new backup device in MS SQL Server Management Studio, and assign a backup job to use this backup device, the backup is successfull... but only the first time I schedule the backup. Following backup attempts to same device fails with the error message above.
Any ideas, anyone?

ThomasHi Kan,
So your suggestion is that I should run a backup with the format media option selected? I believe I have tried that, but I will nevertheless give it another go.
Will keep this thread open in the mean time.
