Browser view in Dreamweaver different than IE view on other PCS

I'm setting up a new webpage.  The page layout, fonts, etc. look great on my page in Dreamweaver CS4 and also when I use the preview in browser tool.
I then publish my page out to our Intranet - still looks good to me.  However, everyone else in our office is seeing it differently.  The fonts are different, the navigation buttons appear different, some of the colors are different.  Looks horrible compared to the page I created.  Any suggestions??

Without seeing the page, we can only guess.
Did you upload the CSS file with the page?

  • Why would the browser preview display look different than what I am seeing in the design view? Pls help!

When working with accordion panels, when I first insert the widget it looks fine, then I begin customizing the content and then the Preview display does not look the same as the Design display. For instance, in the design display the panel aligns with the adjacent image, but in Preview, it appears offset by one or two pixels.

  • Why is the sound quality and volume in itunes so different than when I use other media players

This is an issue which has been vexing me for some time. I've researched it all over the web and have not found a worthwhile answer. Some other posts on these forums have asked similar questions without successful answers. But, none the less, I will try...
I have spent a lot of time over the last two years trying to get my itunes library organized as well as getting good digitized versions from my vinyl records as well as CDs. I was pleased with my results and then I added the songs to itunes. I could not believe how inconsistent the sound quality was. Invariably the volume is always lower. [Please do not post a reply such as: Check the volume controls in itunes proper as well as in itunes preferences (i.e., Sound Check, Sound Enhancer) & the Volume Adjustment in the Information pane under Options for particular songs.] I tried all of those means of adjusting volume. They do NOT work.
There is something more insidious at work in itunes which prevent good sound reproduction. I will give an example. I have played Frankie Valle and the Four Season's song "C'Mon Marianne" on the OS X system sound (i.e. clicking the play button to the song file when selected on the desktop or wherever it resides) as well as in Amadeus Pro. The song sounds great. When I play it when it's in the itunes' library the first part of the song is too lound and then when Frankie Valle starts singing his voice is at a significantly reduced volume.
I have edited the foregoing song in Amadeus Pro to a very high volume (i.e., Effects>Amplify), reloaded it into itunes and it still does not inprove the volume of Frankie's voice in the song, even though the rest of the song is somewhat louder. I have played with the Equalizer in itunes to no effect. It just does not work.
Now, I would glading move away from itunes and use another media player. However, I have other Apple devices through which I listen to music. And the only way I know of to listen,e.g., on the iphone is through itunes.
The other related problem with itune, or should I say iCloud, is icloud match. The icloud Match has taken great sounding music and given me back music of an inferior quality, even though it is a Matched AAC format.
I'm am sorry if I am a little peeved about this issue. If anyone has some suggestions or input to a solution, I will be eternally grateful. Thanks a bunch.

    fbuerg,
You are welcome. Glad my good fortune was helpful to you.

  • Design view and browser view in DW are different than when I view from local folder

I'm brand new to Dreamweaver CS5.5 and here is my problem:
I've made an html page in dreamweaver with a banner, with an additional graphic and some text on top of the banner.  It displays just fine in every browser when I view from the local folder, but when I open DW and view, it displays incorrectly in all three design, live and browser views within DW.  If I make changes to the css file until it views correctly in design view, it no longer displays correctly from the local folder and it still doesn't view correctly in live or browser view within DW.  If what I'm doing isnt going to display accurately in any of the views provided by Dreamweaver as compared to the live server, whats the point in having this software?  I could just keep building webpages in notepad and uploading with CoreFTP.
Any suggestions?  Is it some setting that I dont know about that I need to change within DW?   Please help.

align="center" is deprecated (obsolete) code in XHTML & HTML5 doc types.  Instead of styling markup with HTML, you should be using CSS.
    CSS
    .center {text-align:center}
    HTML
    <p class="center">some centered text here</p>
With respect to break tags, in XHTML doc types the correct syntax is <br /> not <br>.  However your usage of line breaks is inconsistent with good symantic markup.  Use headings <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> for important keywords.  Use <p> for descriptive paragraphs.  Use <ul> <li> or <ol> <li> for lists.  Line breaks should be used minimally if ever.
XHTML doc types require all tags to be lowercase.  Uppercase tags will throw errors.
Your design is too rigid.  When text size is increased in browsers, your content is unreadable.  See screenshot.
    SOLUTIONS:
    1) DO NOT USE POSITION ABSOLUTE.  You don't need it.  Absolute positioning removes content from the normal document flow resulting in a jumbled mess.  Use default CSS positioning (none) with margins, padding & floats to align elements.
    2) Remove HEIGHT values from all CSS containers.  Height limits a container's capacity to hold more content when needed.  Container height should always be determined by the amount of content it holds; not explicit values.  If required to reveal a background image, for example, use CSS min-height instead of height.

  • Photo rotaion in organize view different than edit view & slideshow

Photo rotaion in organize view different than edit view & slideshow. The fact that the power supply to the computer was accidentally disconnected while I was working in iPhoto no doubt was the cause of this phenom.
Any suggestions as to how to re-sync the rotations back up?

Thanks for the tip. I wasn't aware of the use of theses two keys simultaneously. It occured to me after this post to just trash the whole library which I had just created for this particular group of photos and re-import the photos to a newly re-created library. I still had the camara connected so as it turned out it was fairly easy. Now that I think about it, if this hadn't been a newly created library just for this group of photos it wouldn't have worked so simply, so I guess I discovered another benifit for having multiple libraries.
I'm glad you recomended the apple/alt key combo though as this knowledge no-doubt will come in handy at some time.

The Firefox icon is the default feature for Windows Vista and 7 only, it does not apply to Windows XP users.
To have the Firefox icon instead of the Menu Bar:
View > Toolbars and UNCHECK the Menu Bar.
After that, click on the Firefox icon and you'll have the Menu Bar appear again.

  • Browser view of cloud has more apps than aam

I've noticed that there are more apps available in my browser view of the cloud than is available in the downloaded Adobe Application Manager. Why is this, and why can't I download them?

You need a 64 bit operating system to run After Effects and Premiere Pro. I'm guessing you have Win 7 32 bit?
Adobe does not do the greatest job of explaining this to customers.
Many times they've been requested to add an explanatory note to the Cloud to avoid exactly this kind of confusion. Unfortunately this request has not yet reached the right people in Adobe (or perhaps they don't see the need for it) so no explanatory note has yet been added.

  • Lightroom Image Looks Different than in Windows Viewer/CS5/etc.

I've seen this discussed elsewhere, but I believe the nature of my issue may be a bit different, so please excuse the repeat inquiry.
I'm currently using Lightroom 3 on a 17' Samsung Syncmaster 920NW on two different desktops. The hardware configuration for each machine is also identical, with only a few minor exceptions. However, the images on one machine display drastically differently in Lightroom, as opposed to any other Windows application. I've updated the video drivers for both computers, reinstalled the monitor drivers for both, and have uninstalled/reinstalled Lightroom on both with no success in remedying the discrepancy.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated in finding a solution to this issue. It's very frustrating to be anchored down to one desktop due to the inconsistencies of the other.
    Thanks!

You need to calibrate both monitors to identical settings, the luminance value being very important, using an appropriate calibration tool and software.
Spyder Elite software has a specific settings too enable you to match monitors across machines in a studio setting, or from a desk top to a laptop. Without calibration images in viewed in colour managed applications will always look different. If you do not wish to colour manage you can always set a colour space such as sRGB as a monitor profile on all the machines, the only difference you will see then will be down to the luminance value of the monitor. However this will mean images viewed on other peoples screens may differ markedly from your own. The real solution to colour problems is to use colour management and this means calibration of your monitor as a basic requirement.

  • Design view differs from browser view

When viewing in Design view my code correctly shows 2
overlapping rectangles. In browser view it shows two smaller
rectangles that do not overlap. I am using DW MX 2004. I have
    attached small sample code.
    Thanks,
    Alexariel

DMX2004's Design view is not a browser, and can only
    approximate (poorly)
how a page will look. The browser is always right. For
    example, DMX2004 is
insensitive to the CSS error here -
    div {width:250px; height:100;px; position:absolute; }
(note the ';' between '100' and 'px')

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Preview Different Than Live?

    Hi,
I need help/guidance figuring this out:
when the page is displayed in Dreamweaver CS4 design view the top menu is aligned properly, the font size is according to the CSS code and all other tags like H2 or H4 are properly displayed
same when I choose to see the new page in "Preview In Browser" (F12) in Firefox or Safari (I'm on Mac Book)
if I choose to preview the new page on "Live View" or after uploading to the server and view it in any browser suddenly the top menu is left aligned and all H tags are not displayed correctly.
This is a new development so the URL is on the hosting server as an IP: http://65.254.68.145
I tested with W3C and it passed.
    Any pointers are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joseph

    Thanks SnakEyez02 for your reply,
Most of the time I use "Preview in Browser" or [F12] and that shows me the same as the design view which in this case is different than actually viewing the page on the web server (live). I do understand your point for setting dimensions on the menu box and I'l do those changes, but maybe you can also give me your opinion for the H2 tags, as you can see in the 2 images attached to the original post, bellow the menu there are H2, H3 and H4 tags and they look different as well, it's like only part of the style.css is applied.
    Thanks,
    Joseph

  • Goofy Cover Browser view in iTunes 7

I guess Apple’s relationship with Disney finally got to close for comfort. I’m afraid Goofy just took over the iTunes UI design.
As the name implies, the Cover Browser (rightmost view button) looks and almost functions like a browser.
Unfortunately, it is merely a display of the album now playing with previous and next albums.
Undoubtedly this view is great looking, but has no usefulness as a browser. This should have been a visualizer plugin.
As a matter of fact, I actually would use it as a full screen visualizer plugin. Ironically, such useful Use Case for this feature is not enabled.
So far, I was only slightly disappointed with the missed opportunity to make a cool looking real album browser and the missing visualizer.
Apple did provide a “Group by Artwork” view that is not as great looking, but it’s certainly useful.
However, my disappointment quickly turned into puzzlement when I was surprised by a completely unexpected Cover Browser behavior.
I hear that after puzzlement comes acceptance. I’m not there yet, but I have a feeling I’m working up to it by writing about it.
    Consider this.
If you filter your view with Quick Browse by an Artist or a Genre, only the filtered tracks are displayed.
If you start playback, only those selected tracks will be in the queue.
I don’t know about you, but that’s how I listen to my iTunes library. I play a selected Playlist, Genre, Album, or Artist to listen to a specific selection. I never play tracks without filtering because I have podcasts, audiobooks, hip-hop, classic, altrock, and only God and my iTunes library know how many more different types of music.
But I digress. Having started playback on a filtered list of a selected Artist or Album and then clicking on the Cover Browser does something only Goofy could have conceived.
It loses your selected filtering and changes to an all tracks view. The currently playing album cover is displayed, but what is before and after that track is now determined by the all tracks view column sorting.
In other words, because I clicked on the Cover Browser view, my playback queue changed to something I had no intention of hearing.
This strange behavior is unique to the Cover Browser view. Had I click on the Group by Artwork instead, the filtering would still be in effect.
There must have been some kind of crazy rational to lose the filtering since it was clearly intentional.
They got the Playlist behavior right. If playback is started from a Playlist, changing view to Cover Browser does the expected and only displays the albums contained in the Playlist.
Goofy didn’t stop there. No, he was inspired.
In the Cover Browsing view while playback is active, if you navigate down the list of tracks, say 6000 tracks down, after a brief timeout, the highlighted album reverts back to the one playing, which could the first one of this 6000 tracks list.
Quick, you got 15 seconds to navigate down a list and look at it…Sorry, you’re not fast enough…back to the top of the list where you belong!
I’m afraid this is not the first time iTunes has been updated with functionality that makes it less useful. Podcast categories have been removed with no good way to get to those specific podcasts anymore (e.g. International).
The status window defaulting to downloading podcast information while playback is active is another terrible example.
As a lifetime fan, it is sad to witness the slow deterioration of Apple’s once high standards.
Acceptance is coming while I image what must be like to have Goofy lose and running amuck in the Tunes design lab.

Below the cover view is the track listing which has all the columns as usual - simply click the column title to sort by that field.
If the album has different artists then make sure the 'group compilations' option is ticked in preferences and then go into the info for the tracks and select 'part of a compilation'. iTunes will then group the tracks into a single album and display 'various artists' as the artist.
There is also now a field called 'album artist' which sets an artist for an entire album.

    Hi
first of all I can see in your source code these ...:///C|/Users/Sa... My DW finds more of them (screenshot from my German DW):
If you are seeing a file:/// ... the following links will point to your hard drive. These links will not work on the web. And:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="file:///C|/Users/Sami/Desktop/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></scri pt>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="file:///C|/Users/Sami/Desktop/jquery/jquery.gallerax-0.2.js"></s cript>
what means here "</s cript> is a blank between s and c in it.
What concerns these "#". If you want to link to one of your sites you have to replace it with the matching, for example:
    <li><a href="#">Aliquam libero</a></li>
    <li><a href="AliquamLibero.html">Aliquam libero</a></li>
And now, it's the same for me: "If my answer doesn't help ypo, please ask me to explain again."Hans-Günter

  • JavaFX 2.0 : How to make a stage fit into browser view area?

Invoking a JavaFX 2.0 applet from browser results in white spaces on the right and bottom area of the browser. This happens when the JavaFX stage resolutions is lesser than that of browsing desktop resolution. In a client/server model, usually server components doesn't know about the client resolutions. So how to make a stage fit into browser view area?
Also I think, setting the primary stage to full screen mode is not what I want to achieve, as this mode overlays the browser window.

Try typing 100% into the width and height fields. Alternatively, you could use Javascript (no connection to Java in spite of the name) to create an event to resize the applet to the window's size.

  • How to get to full screen from Browser View?

I just upgraded to Aperture 3. In version 2, I could go full screen from the Browser View easily with just hitting "f". It appears this is no longer possible in version 3? I can get to full screen from the other views no problem.
    Any help?
    Thanks,
    Phil

Thanks for the replies. Perhaps I should be more specific: I want a single image to be full screen. When I'm in the Browser mode with several images displayed and hit either f or the "full screen" on the tool bar, I simply get a slightly enlarged browser with a black background showing the same multiple images (essentially just eliminating the inspector on the side and the toolbar). On the other hand, if I'm in Split View or Viewer mode, the f key works fine.
This was the same when I was in the Apple Store yesterday and my "consultant" was somewhat surprised as well. Any further explanation? This is different from my previous version and while not "bad", it is an extra click in my workflow.
    Thanks!
    Phil

  • Browser view changing

    Hello Everybody,
I am wondering, is it possible to change the way iTunes diplay the Browser (View -> Show Browser)?
Right now it displays "Genre", "Artist", "Album"
Personally I don't like that approach. I never use "Genre", I'd like to use "Album Artist" from time to time, etc... Or maybe change the order "Artist", "Album", "Genre".
Is it even possible to do that?
Thank you in advance for your input on this question.
    Kind regards,
    Alessandro

    HI,
*Open iTunes, click on Music then:*
*Top bar in iTunes, Click View. at the bottom click view options.*
*UNCHECK all boxes. Then with thought, (or write them down) Tick the boxes in the*
*order in which you wish them to appear in your browser, Click OK.*
*Tip: Don't tick too many, otherwise they will run off of your screen and you will have to scroll through to read the rest. Depends what information you wish to see.*
*You can do this in each playlist if you wish and have different veiws for each playlist.*
    Goodluck
