BSP API

Hi All,
I m very new to SAP OOABAP. i whant to now like Java API ,  is there any SAP API ?
is there any link for sap api, so that i can see the All the Classes, Abstract Class, Interfaces.
plece can any one tell me the difference between JSP & BSP ?
like JSP contain this  ->JSP Tags
                                   JSP API
                                   EL
                                   JSTL
what about BSP Contains ?

Naresh
For helpful answer reward points.

Hi,
Like I have told you, there is no documentation (that I know of) regrouping all classes and interfaces. Actually, it won't have any sense since, unlike Java, not every thing is a class in ABAP. There are function modules too, which are also part of the ABAP API, and structures that are defined in the Data Dictionary (that you won't find in Java).
You can see attributes and methods of a class in SE24 transaction, but you will have to know the class name. OBJECT class seems to be an exception, but actually, it is an empty class (no attributes nor methods).
Depending on your problem, you will have to search SDN or SAP help to find which FM or classes can be used to solve it. There are also example programs that can help.

Tanguy

  • How to call Java API from BSP?

I have a requirement to call Java API from BSP application.
I have checked the forum and found that it is possible by using some ABAP codes.
However there is no pointer on how this is done.
Can someone explain the details on how to call Java API from BSP is done?
I found class CL_EJB_JAVA_OBJECT_METHODS to call a method in EJB but can't find function or SAP class to call Java API.
Actually is there any BSP extention which can used to call Java API?
    Thanks,

check out these weblogs, it should give you an idea how to go about it.

  • GP public API: is it possible to call that using BSP

    Hi
if we dont want to involve NWDI development,  is it possible to call those GP public APIs using BSP?
    any tutorial avaiable?
    thanks and best regards.
    Jun

    Hi Jun,
The GP Public APIs are Java APIs and without NWDI/NWDS, it is not possible to use them. It is not possible to call them from the ABAP Side.
However, it is possible to start a GP Procedures via Web Service. That might help you if you want to start a Guided Procedures from a BSP. But the display of the runtime might be  a problem since it is not possible to jump from a BSP to a portal page. At least, I don't know how if it is possible.
    Hope this helps.

  • BW SEM-BPS API functions from a Web Dynpro project in Netweaver

    Hi,
Rather than using the standard Web Interface Builder in BW SEM-BPS (3.1B), we have to use SAP Netweaver to create a Web Dynpro project which accesses all the API_SEMBPS functions, such as GETDATA, SETDATA, FUNCTION_EXECUTE etc. Has anyone done this before? If so, do you have any examples, hints?
    Regards,
    Linda Lee

    Hello Linda,
let me add some more remarks on this topic from the BW-BPS development perspective:
I completely agree with Marc's statement.
Thechnically it is possible to build a planning application UI on top of the BW-BPS API functions and we have some customers that are live with such a solution. However, I would recommend this only in 2 cases
    1. You need to create a tightly integrated application with BPS being only one part of several other components (including transactional UI, e.g. running against a CRM system).
    2. You prefer a UI technology that is not provided by SAP (e.g. Java Swing based).
In all other cases, I would say that one should stick to the Web Interface created with Web interface Builder, mainly for cost reasons. If this tool does not fulfill all your needs there are several possibilities to enhance and extend the generated web interfaces by custom specific coding (see also several How-To guides in this area; e.g. "How to integrate a BEx Web Template into a BPS Web interface").
Another possibility is to loosly couple several web UIs with the help of the portal.
To my knowledge, it is not true that BSP web technology will be obsolete shortly.
In general, I would always prefer a tool supported, model driven approach compared to a heavy custom coding. This is also in sync with SAPs general strategy to a more pattern based approach to create UIs.

  • Calling Web Service from a BSP

Has anyone successfully called one of the Google search engine web services from <b><u>6.20</u></b>? Or any external, non-R/3 web service for that matter? When I run test connection on a RFC destination type G (HTTP connection to External Server), it returns ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED message. I am using api.google.com for Target Host and /search/beta2/ for Path Prefix; all other fields are blank/default. I was able to setup the RFC destination for type H (HTTP connection to R/3 system) correctly and run the sample ABAP web service client program (from SAP Help which calls STFC_CONNECTION).
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks, Pradeep

Does your company use an Internet Proxy?  Have you setup the global or RFC specific proxy settings?
This is what we had to do.  We were calling a psedo webservice in 620 via HTTP Client methods and we had to setup the Proxy settings.
See the following weblog for details:
    /people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/11/17/bsp-a-developers-journal-part-xiv--consuming-webservices-with-abap
But keep in mind that even if you are able to make the connection that the WebService will most likely require a SOAP response and request.  There are some ways to do this in 620, but it is a lot of development on your part and it is not forward compatible with 640.  In 640 you can generate Proxy Classes - which makes calling external webservices very easy.

  • Download a BSP application

    Hi,
stupid question : is there a way to download a bsp application into a .txt file for instance and upload it in another system like for Abap programs?
    Regards & Happy new year,
    Huy

    Hallo Huy,
In R/3 systems, the transport system is the best way to move stuff between systems. You can place all the objects you wish onto a transport of copies, export it, and import the transport into the new system. The starting point is transaction SE09. You might need the help/approval of a system administrator, depending on your rights, etc. This is the simplest and best way to do it.
If you should wish to develop your solution, look at CL_BSP_API_GENERATE. It is an API to create BSP applications.
You can also look at our own report BSP_EXPORT_CLASSES (transaction SE38) that we use to dump BSP applications into text files. We use it for checking that our SP systems are in sync with our development system.

  • How to generate the output of BSP application in PDF format?

    Hi,
I need to modify one BSP application, which generates its output in the form of PDF. I have checked all the methods in the bsp pages and its corresponding controller class's. I couldn't find any relevant method, which deals with generating the output in PDF.
Could you please share your valuable thoughts on this?
Again it would be helpful, If anyone of you share some knowledge on Interactive Adobe Forms.
    Thanks,
    John

    okay, awesome
i'd use DOM or some high level API for this (don't write it by hand using plain File IO)
okay, try this site, it goes through building a document, adding elements, writing to file, etc.

  • Passing data from PCUI application to BSP page

    Hi,
From CRM PCUI application, a BSP page is called for displaying a report. The behaviour of the report has to be different based on a data (field value) in the PCUI application.
How can I pass the data from PCUI application to the BSP page?
    Thanks & Regards
    G.Raja

    Hi Gregor,
The weblog was very useful. Thank you.
In the current scenario, in the PCUI application there is a button, on clicking which a bsp page is displayed. This is implemented via the Navigation (URL generation) in CRMC_BLUEPRINT table. In the BSP page, on entering the details and clicking on a button, different APIs have to be called based on a flag. The flag is set in PCUI application but I couldn't pass the information from there to the BSP page. Can you please let me know how I can achieve this.
    Thanks & Regards

  • ALE, EDI, WAS, BSP, BAPI

    HI ALL,
CAN YOU TELL ME A BRIEF ABOUT ALE, EDI, WAS, BSP, BAPI AS IT IS VERY COMMON IN EVERY INTERVIEW ?
    REGARDS
    RAJARSHI

    Hi Rajarshi,
    IDOCS:
IDOCS are intermediary documents which are like CARRIERS of the data
IDOCs are safe to transfer data, but less volume of data. User is not allowed to access (modify) the data like PSA. IDOCs have 3 parts.
    1. Control Record - SOURCE & TARGET details,
    2. Data Record - Here comes your query....
Info IDOC - It contains all the technical details related to the data load i.e. Request NO, No of Data Packages, USER, DATE, TIME, LOGICAL SYSTEM, etc. Info IDOC is also ONE segment, the 1 sr segment.
Here data will not be there.
Data IDOC - These are the ones which hold the data. The total no of records are made into Data IDOCs i.e. if 99 records are there then 99 Data IDOCs will be there and all these will be divided into 99 segments.
Hence the total number of Segments in IDOC is 100.
Info IDOC + Data IDOCs = Total no of Segments
    1 + 99 = 100.
    3. Status Record - Here the status of the data transfer will be available.
    ALE:
ALE is Application linking & Enabling which enables to interface SAP with other modules
Pl go through below links as they provide all the required info on ALE & IDOC's:

u will have enough material from above .....
Mostly SD consultant doesn’t deal with EDI, Idocs but it’s always good to have knowledge,
    EDI
EDI concept in SD: the EDI concept is intended to realize the sales and distribution process completely automatically with the help of electronical documents. These documents are sent from one customer to another, are processed mostly on the background and give a possibility to realize the sales process extremely efficiently.
If MM-customer would like to purchase the goods then he creates the IDOC of type ORDERS and send it to SD-customer. On the SD-side the IDOC is processed via the function module IDOC_INPUT_ORDERS and creates the sales order. As confirmation the SD-side can send to MM-side the Order-Response IDOC (function IDOC_OUTPUT_ORDERS). The MM-customer can every time send a change to the existing order, then on SD side the ORDCHG IDOC will be processed. It can change the order like in VA02. The creation of the invoice can be made via IDOC of message type INVOIC (function IDOC_OUTPUT_INVOIC).
So, the process can be realized completely automatically between SD and MM partners with the help of IDOCs: ORDERS, ORDCHG, ORDRSP, and INVOIC.
    That's all concerning the SD-EDI.
Additional processes in SD, where EDI are used:
    1) application of delivery schedules to the scheduling agreement: IDOC of type DELINS
    2) creation of a delivery order to the scheduling agreement: IDOC of type DELORD
    3) creation of external agent service delivery to scheduling agreement: IDOC of type EDLNOT
    4) creation of credit advice / credit memo in the frames of self-billing: IDOCs of type GSVERF, SBWAP and for external invoice creation SBINV.
It is all processes which are realized in the SD module via EDI.
Go through this, You will get better idea on EDI,ALE,IDOCS
The interface concept of the classic R/3 is based on two different strategies: Remote Function Calls (RFC) and data exchange through IDoc message documents. RFC makes direct and synchronous calls of a program in the remote system. If the caller is an external program it will call an RFC-enabled function in R/3 and if the calling program is the R/3 system it will call an RFC-function in another R/3-system or it will call a non-R/3 program through a gateway-proxy (usually rfcexec.exe). BAPIs are a subset of the RFC-enabled function modules, especially designed as Application Programming Interface (API) to the SAP business object, or in other words: are function modules officially released by SAP to be called from external programs.
IDocs are text encoded documents with a rigid structure that are used to exchange data between R/3 and a foreign system. Instead of calling a program in the destination system directly, the data is first packed into an IDoc and then sent to the receiving system, where it is analyzed and properly processed. Therefore an IDoc data exchange is always an asynchronous process. The significant difference between simple RFC-calls and IDoc data exchange is the fact, that every action performed on IDocs are protocolled by R/3 and IDocs can be reprocessed if an error occurred in one of the message steps.
While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to deliver data to the receiving system. ALE is basically the scheduling mechanism that defines when and between which partners and what kind of data will be exchanged on a regular or event triggered basis. Such a set-up is called an ALE-scenario.
The philosophical difference between EDI and ALE can be pinned as follows: If we send data to an external partner, we generally speak of EDI, while ALE is a mechanism to reliable replicate data between trusting systems to store a redundant copy of the IDoc data. The difference is made clear, when we think of a purchase order that is sent as an IDoc. If we send the purchase order to a supplier then the supplier will store the purchase order as a sales order. However, if we send the purchase order via ALE to another R/3 system, then the receiving system will store the purchase order also as a purchase order.
    BAPI:
BAPI (Business Application Programming Interface) is a set of interfaces to object-oriented programming methods that enable a programmer to integrate third-party software into the proprietary R/3 product from SAP. For specific business tasks such as uploading transactional data, BAPIs are implemented and stored in the R/3 system as remote function call (RFC) modules.
BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interfaces) are the
standard SAP interfaces. They play an important role in the
technical integration and in the exchange of business data
between SAP components, and between SAP and non-SAP
components. BAPIs enable you to integrate these components
and are therefore an important part of developing
integration scenarios where multiple components are
connected to each other, either on a local network or on the Internet.
BAPIs allow integration at the business level, not the
technical level. This provides for greater stability of the
linkage and independence from the underlying communication
    technology

I tried passing the parameter through URL, but it doest bypass the variable screen.

Could you please help me on this?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
If I can remember correctly, there is an option that you set in the Web Application Designer so as to not prompt the variable screen if variables are provided using the Web API.
At the look at the URL you provide, you are using good old BW 3.5 or less

    Hi Nilesh,
From the error i think that the error is with the hostname.
Please enter the the Application Server IP/Hostname.
If you are loggin to SAP System "XX1" from SAP GUI. Then click the change Item tab and see Application server name/IP let say "XX2" for hostname or "xx.xx.xx.xx" for IP.
    Replace <i>srv[0] = new Server("gateway","sapgw00","JCOSERVER01",repository);</i>
    with <i>srv[0] = new Server("XX2","sapgw00","JCOSERVER01",repository);</i>
If App Server is IP then replace with
    <i>srv[0] = new Server("xx.xx.xx.xx","sapgw00","JCOSERVER01",repository);</i>
Let me know if it is throwing any error.
    Thanks,
    Prashil
