BSP MVC with multiple components approaches

Hello,
I have developed in BSP with follows MVC. The BSP application had multiple subcontroller and one main controller. I had one model for each controller,
but the models were "stored" on the level of the main
controller.
Is this the right way? Are there are other approaches?
Regards & Thanks,
Guido

Hi,
Do you mean to say that u have instantiated the subcontroller models in the main controller using the model data and assigning them to the views in ur subcontroller do_request method?If so it will work however a better approach is to instantiate one main model class (make different method in the model class to access the records from database)in the main controller and use it to assign to the view in the do_request method of the subcontroller.
Hope this helps.
Reward useful answers.

Shrita.

  • Dynamic SORT with multiple components

    Hi all,
    I want to sort an internal table in this way:
    SORT itab BY (component).
    This is not difficult if "component" contains the name of ONE column of itab. But - and here is my problem - how can I sort with multiple components?
    Like this:
    SORT itab BY (comp_1) (comp_2) ... (comp_N).
    The number of components (N) shall be flexible. It is not possible to concatenate the components into one string-variable. This causes an error ITAB_ILLEGAL_COMPONENT.
    Brillant would be a solution which also contains the sort-direction (ASCENDING or DESCENDING for each component like this:
    SORT itab BY (comp_1) (dir_1)
                 (comp_2) (dir_2)
                 (comp_N) (dir_N).
    Is there a way to do so?
    Thanks for all hints!
    Mathias

    Hi Matahias ...
    From ABAP help...
    SORT itab.
    Extras:
    1. ... BY f1 f2 ... fn
    2. ... ASCENDING
    3. ... DESCENDING
    4. ... AS TEXT
    5. ... STABLE
    The syntax check performed in an ABAP Objects context is stricter than in other ABAP areas. See Field symbols not allowed as sort criterion.
    Effect
    The entries in the internal table are sorted in ascending order using the key from the table definition (DATA, TYPES).
    Addition 1
    ... BY f1 f2 ... fn
    Effect
    Uses the sort key defined by the sub-fields f1, f2, ..., fn of the table itab instead of the table key. The fields can be of any type; even number fields and tables are allowed.
    You can also specify the sort fields dynamically in the form (name). If name is blank at run time, the sort field is ignored. If itab is a table with a header line, you can also use a field symbol pointing to the header line of itab as a dynamic sort criterion. A field symbol that is not assigned is ignored. If a field symbol is assigned, but does not point to the header line of the internal table, a runtime error occurs.
    If the line type of the internal table contains object reference variables as components, or the entire line type is a reference variable, you can use the attributes of the object to which a reference is pointing in a line as sort criteria (see Attributes of Objects as the Key of an Internal Table
    You can address the entire line of an internal table as the key using the pseudocomponent TABLE_LINE. This is particularly relevant for tables with a non-structured line type when you want to address the whole line as the key of the table (see also Pseudocomponent TABLE_LINE With Internal Tables).
    If you use one of the additions 2 to 5 before BY, it applies to all fields of the sort key by default. You can also specify these additions after each individual sort field f1, f2, ..., fn. For each key field, this defines an individual sort rule which overrides the default.

  • Data table header facet with multiple components?

    Hi,
    I have a data table to which I wish to add buttons to change the sort order of the items displayed. However when I add the 'buttons' to the 'header' facet I get strange results - some components are shown, some are not, and the order they appear seems almost random.
    Is the header / footer facet designed only for one component - or can I combine them somehow?
    Code snippet is
    <h:dataTable id="table" rowClasses="oddRow,evenRow" width="80%"
    value="#{ControllerBean.orderedResults}" var="meet">
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:commandLink action="#{ControllerBean.setOrder}">
    <h:graphicImage value="/img/up.gif" style="border: 0px" />
    <f:param name="order" value="up-title" />
    </h:commandLink>
    <h:outputText value="#{msgs.title}" />
    <h:commandLink action="#{ControllerBean.setOrder}">
    <h:graphicImage value="/img/down.gif" style="border: 0px" />
    <f:param name="order" value="down-title" />
    </h:commandLink>
    </f:facet>
    <h:outputText id="meetTitle"
    value="#{meet.title}" />
    </h:column>
    etc..
    So to be clear - I want a header that contains two graphic buttons separated by the text. When I run this code as is here, I get just the 'down' button, but by changing the order I can sometimes get the down button and the text......
    Cheers

    Yes, you can place it in a panelGrid or panelGroup component.
    The following is an excerpt from a book:
    TIP: To place multiple components in a table header or footer, you must
    group them in an h:panelGroup tag, or place them in a container component
    with h:panelGrid or h:dataTable. If you place multiple components in a facet, only the
    first component will be displayed.
    Thus you could have something like:
                   <f:facet name="header">
                        <h:panelGrid columns="1">
                             <h:outputText value="#{fields.recordings}" style="font-weight: bolder" />
                             <h:panelGroup>
                                  <h:outputText value="#{fields.type}" style="font-weight: bolder"/>
                                  <h:outputText value="#{fields.date}" style="font-weight: bolder"/>
                                  <h:outputText value="#{fields.time}" style="font-weight: bolder"/>
                             </h:panelGroup>
                        </h:panelGrid>
                   </f:facet>

  • BSPs configuration with multiple apps servers

    Hi Masters,
    This is regrarding configure ICM and BSPs on our production box with multiple application servers.
    We have our production box in a cluster environment.
    The central instance is dbciSAP and apps servers are sapaps2 thru sapaps6. The database is on shared disks. Whenever the central instance fails sapaps2 takes the control and become as dbciSAP but the main dbciSAP never become a application server when ever sapaps2 acts as dbciSAP. Since we have configured load balancing concept in production environment the users can login to system thru any application server. This is waht our environment.
    As part of our production box to SAP 4.7 upgrade from 4.6C, we are asked to configure the environment to deploy BSPs. We have successfully configured and deployed the BSPs in our DEV and QAS system  (Both are central instances with no application servers) except production box which is due in the next month.
    The process we follow to activate BSPs is as follows:
    1.Define an ICM service port in /etc/services file.
    2.Add the ICM related parameters in instance profiles.
    3.Make sure the ICM status is active in SMICM tx.
    4.Activate the BSP services in SICF as per OSS note 571484.
    Now, the question is how to configure the same ICM service and activate the BSPs since we have multiple multiple application servers.
    Subsequently What I am enquirying is:
    Do I need to define ICM service ports on each and every hosts where the application servers are running?
    Do I need to make changes to each and every instance profile of the application server?
    What are the differences in configuring ICM services on central instance and application instances?
    Appreciate any help in this regard.
    Thanks and Regards
    Murty Patchipala

    Grasshopper,
    I think what you should really read up on is the SAP WebDispatcher.  If are serious about running BSP/ICM across multiple app servers, this is the key technology:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/42/5cfd3b0e59774ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm  This may also answer some of your questions about profile parameters.
    Other than that I can share what we did.  We did activate the ICM and services on all app servers and central instance.  The service ports of the individual servers aren't that important now because of the WebDispatcher (at least they aren't visible to the user).
    Yes we did make some of the ICM profile changes in each instance profile.  If your settings are the same, consider using the default profile.   Are their particular settings you are interested?  I will look over ours, but I don't remember any huge differences from APP server to Central Instance.

  • Siebel 8.1.1.8 upgrade from 8.1.1.0 - host with multiple components

    Hi all,
    I'm running some tests of an update from Siebel SIA 8.1.1.0 to 8.1.1.8 in preparation for a Production upgrade. Our entire estate is Windows based, currently running Windows Server 2008. The update is not working as I expected.
    On one machine I have the Gateway and a Siebel Server (Object Manager). On another machine, I have a Siebel Server (eDocument).
    - Upgrading the single server (eDocument) using the new OUI installer seems to work fine
    - Upgrading the host with Gateway AND Siebel Server (Object Manager) seems to fail - where a DLL exists in both Gateway AND Server (i.e. sssaadmn.dll), only the Gateway DLL gets updated
    The result is that the Siebel Server (Object Manager) on the same host as the Gateway fails to start, with 'cannot load xxx.dll' appearing throughout the server and component logs. The single server (eDocument) seems to start fine with all components showing as 'Running' and visible through srvrmgr.
    Has anyone performed an update with the 8.1.1.8 OUI based installers and had a similar problem? Any idea how to resolve?
    Thanks for your thoughts!
    Oli

    Hi all,
    Looks like OUI can't cope with files with the Windows 'read only' attribute set. It will simply skip them altogether, without error. :(
    Anyway, unsetting the read only attribute across the SBA81 folder, prior to running the upgrade, seems to have resolved the problem for us.

    Oli

  • UIPickerView and didSelectRow with multiple components problem

    If I spin two components at the same time in my picker I only get one call to didSelectRow....
    More specifically, if I spin one component and move another component no call is recieved until the first component stops spinning, and so the second component move is missed.
    I use this to update displayed data so it looks badly wrong. Is this yet another bug with the SDK?

    Hi,
    I have the same problem. Actually it is not so annoying in my application as it is only cosmetic. However my application was rejected by Apple because of this issue.
    I checked what would happen in the built-in alarm app if the hour and minute picker wheels are rolled at the same time... and both value are recorded. So there must be a programmatic solution to this problem and it is definitely not a bug of the SDK.
    It would be great if someone knows how to solve this.

  • JTable column with multiple components

    Hi,
    I have to use a List and a comobobox in a single column. How can i achieve this. It will be a great help if somebody can provide me some sample code.
    I know how to set a custom component for the entire column or entire row. So please provide me the code that may explain how can i add two different components to the single column?
    Thanks

    If it is display only, use cell renderer.
    If you do I/O or event dispatching, use cell editor.
    A Jpanel containing JList and JComboBox would be the component they return.
    Smells bad design, though.

  • Multiple Components in a JScrollPane

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to create a JScrollPane with multiple components in it, inside a TabPane. However I keep running into problems getting the display working.
    The contents of the ScrollPane will be determined at runtime and will consist of "n" tables and JLabels, in no particular order. The only constraint is that I want to have the components displayed in rows (one column per row). The number of rows and columns in each of the JTables (and therefore their size) will also be determined at runtime.
    I've run into problems where the JScrollPane only shows the last JTable added. I've tried adding a JPanel to the JScrollPane and then adding the tables to that, but the display doesn't work - maybe something I've missed on the sizing?
    Any clues on where I should focus will be most appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the suggestion - I've tried using the following test code, but I cannot get it to display anything:
    public class AFrame extends JFrame {

      public AFrame() {
        try {
          this.getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout());

          this.setSize(500, 500);
          setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
          this.getContentPane().add(jScrollPane1, null);
          jScrollPane1.setHorizontalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
          jScrollPane1.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
          //create a table
          JTable table1 = new JTable();
          table1.setModel(new TestTableModel());
          TableColumnModel colmod = table1.getColumnModel();
          for (int i=0; i < table1.getColumnCount(); i++) {
            TableColumn col = colmod.getColumn(i);
            col.setPreferredWidth(50);
          //create an edit field
          JEditorPane jep1 = new JEditorPane();
          jep1.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(100, 20));
          //create the panel & add two components
          JPanel p = new JPanel();
          p.setPreferredSize(this.getSize());
          double size[][] =
            {{10, TableLayout.PREFERRED, 10},  // Columns
             {10, TableLayout.PREFERRED, 10}}; // Rows
          TableLayout tl = new TableLayout(size);
          p.setLayout(tl);
          p.add(table1, "1, 1");
          p.add(jep1, "1, 2");
          validate();
          setVisible(true);
        catch(Exception e) {

  • Problem with BSP MVC

    Hi all,
    I had a bsp application which is now running live in the organization. Recently, I got a problem report back from user, which is causing data loss.
    After the support team check the problem and found out the source of the problem. Let me briefly state the problem here. The application is using bsp mvc and it is stateful.
    First, when a user open the application in IE, it is a timesheet entry application, first page will display the time entry of that user for current month. let say the default selected month is September. then if the user wan to compare the entry with previous month, then he will open a new window (ctrl + N) or new tab (ctrl + T), then open the application again. Because of using SSO, the application will not prompt user to login again and will directly lead user to the time entry page. then the user change the month to August for the second new page.
    after the user change the month to august, it will refresh the model that hold the data of the month. means the model now carry August calendar. then the user go back to the first window or the first tab with september time entry, he try to add in new data into that time entry, and save. when it is saved, the september data will go into the August data not go into the September data. this causing data loss in September.
    If I tried this again with not using (ctrl + N) or (ctrl + T) but is open another new IE broswer instance, then it wont give this problem at all. because it create another new model to hold the calendar data. It work fine as long as the user not open two or more windows or tab in a same IE instances.
    Does anyone here meet this problem before or could provide any suggestion to solve this kind of problem? I cant simply changed the application to stateless because it already using worldwide and it will cause a lot of problem. Sorry if my question here was not clear enough.
    Thanks you. (reward point will be given for helpful answer.)

    Is there anyone can understand my problem?
    Thanks you.

  • RegionRenderer encodeAll The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance.

    Hi,
    I am using JDEV 11.1.2.1.0
    I am getting the following error :-
    <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance. It is recommended that you restructure the page fragment to have a single root component.
    Piece of code is for region is:-

                                                </af:panelStretchLayout>
                                            </f:facet>
    How do I resolve it ?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I see at least 3 errors
    1. <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components.
    the page fragment should only have a single component under the jsp:root tag. If you see more than one, wrap them in e.g. an af:panelGroupLayout or af:group component
    2. SAPFunction.jspx/.xml" has an invalid character ".".
    check the document (you can open it in JDeveloper if the customization was a seeded one. Seems that editing this file smething has gone bad
    3. The expression "#{bindings..regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "pePanel") evaluated to null.
    "pageeditorpanel" does seem to be missing in the PageDef file of the page holding the region

  • MDS Customization Problem with multiple root components

    Hello,
    Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 and WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0
    I am using Oracle MDS Customization class with the following classes:
    oracle.adf.view.rich.change.MDSDocumentChangeManager
    org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.change.ChangeManager
    org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.change.MoveChildComponentChange
    Based on these classes I am moving UI components
    <af:panelStretchLayout>
    <f:facet name="center">
    <af:region />
    </f:facet>
    </af:panelStretchLayout>
    into another component thanks to the MDS.
    Once I do the movement and persist, I receive the following waning message:
    *<RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1:0:pt2:r1:0:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance. It is recommended that you restructure the page fragment to have a single root component.*
    When I run the application in Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0, it work fine, but when I deploy it on WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0 it is not working.
    I receive the same warning message on the server and in JDeveloper.
    I think that MDS makes a copy of the components that I move because of that it says me that "a page fragment with multiple root components"
    The problem is not because of duplication any of the tags <af:document> <f:view><f:form> <html> <head> <body>
    After the movement and persistence, I also call the FacesContext to reset its view root with the following code:
    FacesContext context =FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    String currentView = context.getViewRoot().getViewId();
    ViewHandler vh = context.getApplication().getViewHandler();
    UIViewRoot x = vh.createView(context, currentView);
    x.setViewId(currentView);
    context.setViewRoot(x);
    The idea is that the entire JSF tree to be rebuild on entering page with aim to clear previously drag and drop settings.
    Do you know how I can overcome the problem on the server WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0?
    This worked on Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 and now the problem is with Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0.
    Regards,
    Niki

    Hi,
    what the error means is that you have more than one node under the jsp:root node of the fragment. Say the content of your fragment is
    <af:panelGroupLayout id="pgl1">
    </af:PanelGrouPLayout>
    Then this is okay
    if you have
    <af:panelGroupLayout id="pgl1">
    </af:PanelGrouPLayout>
    <af:panelGroupLayout id="pgl2">
    </af:PanelGrouPLayout>
    or
    <af:panelGroupLayout id="pgl1">
    </af:PanelGrouPLayout>
    <af:commandButton id="cb1"/>
    Then these mean duplicated root components. The JDeveloper IDE flags this as Warnings (Structure Window) when selecting the page fragment

  • "detected a page fragment with multiple root components" warning

    I am getting a warning on the standalone WLS when I run my page that contains a taskflow as region. I am using a page fragment in my taskflow.
    <Warning> <oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.renderkit.rich.RegionRenderer> <ADF_FACES-60099> <The region component with id: ptMain:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components. Fragments with more than one root component may not display correctly in a region and may have a negative impact on performance. It is recommended that you restructure the page fragment to have a single root component.>
    The warning states the obvious, I have everything within a panelheader in my page fragment. Also, I do not get the warning on the integrated WLS. Any ideas as to why this warning is still popping up in the log? I am using JDev 11.1.1.3.
    Thanks,

    Thank you for responding. I do not have any popups. I do, however, have another region nested within this fragment ( have this warning on another fragment that doesn't have a nested region though). Here is the code for my fragment.

  • Calling a BSP application with MVC and send one start value

    Hi,
    I developed a BSP application with BSP. The application has a start page with one input field. The user gives a number and click the send button. The controller creates the modeler and gives the userinput as start parameter for the data search. After the data are read/found, the controller calls a view to show the data.
    This is very easy and does work.
    I have to call this simply application from another one: the caller application sends the start value.
    I don't know, if is better to send the start value in the URL or not. I tried it, but the controller cannot read it.
    How can I call the controller with a start value?
    Thank you!
    Bye
    Patrizia

    Hi ,
    what you need to do is
    1) for the "Send" button attach a java script.
    <htmlb:button id="myButton" text="Submit ...." onClick="sendRequestWrapper()"/>
    this javascript should take the inputfrom the field,
    then in the javascript create the URL.
    function sendReqeustWrapper(){
    sendRequest(InputField);
    function sendRequest(InputField)
    var URL;
    URL  = window.location.protocol + "//" ;
    URL += window.location.host ;
    <b>Note: its only Example link,</b>
    URL += "/sap/bc/bsp/sap/<BSPApplication>/controller.do";
    URL +="?InputFieldName=";
    URL +=InputFieldValue;
    <b>then use</b>
    Your URL will look like:
    http://ld0507.wdf.sap.corp:50007/sap/bc/bsp/sap/<bsp appl>/controller.do?InputFieldName=XXXXX
    window.open(URL,"_self","");
    so once this URL is triggered  you need to goto the respective controller and handle the input. You can see the reply from Mr. Akshaya Rao .

  • How to work with multiple catalyst components in Flash Builder?

    Hey There,
    Can I create multiple components and merge them together? For example, I want to create a list control state, and bring it into my existing Flash Builder project. Then down the road, do something similiar... How would I go about that, and what files are essential fromt he catalyst project.. (assets, components, main.css, privateData..
    Thanks in advance!

    Yes, you can :-)
    You can export the components from different Flash Catalyst projects as fxpl files and then import them into Flash Builder. In Flash Catalyst, right-click in the Library panel and you will see the export command to save the current project's components into an fxpl file.
    A great article on Flash Builder/Flash Catalyst workflows is here:

  • POP UP IN BSP MVC-NO java script code

    1.when ever I click on one Button in BSP application(MVC) ,One pop up should trigger with Yes or NO options.
    2.If user selects Yes I need to proceed further.
    I can do it through javascript code in page layout,AS I am doing changes in Standard application I do not want to change page layout .
    But I am looking to trigger pop up from abap code ,because I can enhance the class and implement post exit to event handler methods.
    BSP application name: HRRCF_ACT_PROC.
    View Name: List.do
    Event handler : Ondelete ( ).
    Domain: erecruiting
    I can create a new ZBSP apllication and view as yes or no options
    But how to call that new BSP application as POP UP and sned back data to original application

    1/In your BSP application YES /NO use this function identify computer name ***************************
      data: iRFCHOST type RFCHOST,
           oRFCHOST type RFCHOST.
      CALL FUNCTION 'TH_USER_INFO'
        IMPORTING
          TERMINAL = iRFCHOST.
      CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_IP_TO_HOST'
        EXPORTING
          RFCIP                       = IRFCHOST
        IMPORTING
          RFCHOST                     = ORFCHOST
        EXCEPTIONS
          IP_TO_HOST_CONVERSION_ERROR = 1
          OTHERS                      = 2.
      IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
            WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
      ENDIF.
    2/Save computer name and decison Yes/No to custom table *************************************
    3/In you BSP aplication use function identify computer name(terminal name) and look to custom table for decision Yes/No
    Note: It will work if user will not work with multiple seesion
