BUG 1.5: Parser error in worksheet.

I have the following statements in my worksheet.
Putting the cursor in either the create... or the select.., F9 highlights both and runs the create....
I know I don't have an additional separator after the create... block, but the parser should be know when a pl/sql block ends.
create or replace package body randomizer is
begin
  procedure random_updater
   is
    begin
     null;
     end;
end;
select * from projects_control;

OK - I'm with you here - if you did this in SQL*Plus, then you'd still need a / or ; to indicate the end of the pl/sql block and to execute that before moving to the next statement.
In this situation I use a / in the SQL Worksheet to separate the statements.
I have passed the query on to a developer for further detail though.

    one solution: assume the toplink library to be so full of bugs as to be unusable and switch to the hibernate persistance manager where it works fine.

  • Bind parse errors

    Oracle 11.2.0.1.
    Background: doing "multi-threading" using DBMS_PARALLEL_EXECUTE, which uses the bind variables +:start_id+ and +:end_id+ when executing a "thread".
    The Problem: Oracle chokes on parsing a bind variable used in a FOR loop. Example:
    // using bind variables in a for loop causes a parse error
    SQL> begin
      2          execute immediate
      3                  'begin
      4                          for i in :start_id..:end_id loop
      5                                  dbms_output.put_line(i);
      6                          end loop;
      7                  end;'
      8          using   in 1,
      9                  in 10;
    10  end;

    Any ideas whether this is a known bug (my simplistic SQL parser for detecting bind variables detects the binds just fine with the 1st test case above)?
    Any better work-around?

    Thank you for the sympathy and the information about the Adobe.com forum Michael.
    I posted here because, to be honest, for a company that's acknowledged their installers and updaters and support needs some work, they seem very determined to obfuscate the means by which users can provide direct feedback to the company. Much like you, I've also noticed a trend in CS5 installations that mirrors the issues that were present in CS4. it's a sad state of affairs.
    As for my installation, you are also quite right to say that a clean install would have been a lot faster than what I went through with TS and it was actually my first idea. Before calling TS I'd actually read through the forums and noticed that a large number of users who were faced with my situation had no other choice but to reformat. I was just giving Adobe the benefit of the doubt and wasted 2 and a half weeks through that course of action...
    What makes this situation even more frustrating is that the installer failed on a fresh system. It was a custom-built design machine, assembled and configured by myself. The only software that had been installed on it prior to Design Premium was Firefox, an FTP client and the start of my problems, trial versions of various CS4 programs. I used trials just long enough to retire the previous design computer so that I wouldn't contravene the EULA's stipulation of not running more than one instance of software at the same time on different machines.  Turns out being honest once again penalised a legal customer.
    If there is just thing users should learn from my far from unique tale of failed tech support it's that if you ever run into a problem with the installation, don't bother calling TS, just reformat and start from scratch.  It might seem like it'll take longer to get going again, but in actuality, it's the opposite. Reformatting means you'll be up and running in about 1 or 2 days rather than 2 weeks.

  • Parse error does not return ORA error

    I had a query for a chart that would not parse and did not return an ORA- error to help me find the problem. After some trial and error I was able to identify the source of the error. I was passing a string to the TRUNC function and not a date. I would expect to receive and ORA-1722 with the parse error message but did not. This looks like a small bug to me. If not can someone explain why I would not get an ORA error with this?
    test case:
    select null link,
    8 lbl,
    trunc(:P1_DATE,'MONTH') val
    from dual;
    select null link,
    8 lbl,
    trunc(to_date(:P1_DATE,'DD-MM-YYYY'),'MONTH') val
    from dual;
    -Jonathan Stowell

    What version of HTML DB? 1.5, but I just upgraded to 1.6, have not tested there yet.
    What kind of chart (SVG or HTML and which one)?SVG bar chart
    Where did the error occur (on the edit page or at runtime)? Edit page.
    What is the exact error you saw? Unable to parse query (OK maybe this is not exact but it defintly did not display and ORA error).
    Shouldn't the "val" value be numeric?That was just an example, a bad example aparently.

  • Error: parse error before '.' & number of arguments doesn't match

    Compiling my simple source code reports error error: parse error before '.' . But in fact there is not any "." token on this line.
    At my guess it has something to do with JNI C macros but I really have no idea how to find that bug

    Hi radone,
    I just read your posting and suddently got an idea why your compiler was complaining about the period. In most C environment, there is a definition
    #define s_addr S_un.S_addr
    in some socket-related header file! Now you know where the dot is coming from.

  • Encrypted Maxl "Parse error near in" error

    Hello,
    I'm facing a "Parse error near in" error when trying to use encrypted Maxl scripts deploying Essbase Studio cubes.
    The problem seems to be in the deploy command. If I do not use encrypted Maxl ( -D option ), the same deploy command works fine.
    Look in the deploy command that I'm not using encryption for loging into Essbase Studio. Even using encryption the same error is issued.
    Here is the log: ( I changed sensitive information for obvious reasons )

    There have been a number of MaxL bugs with encryption that produce 'Parse error near...' messages. If you login to Oracle Support and search the Knowledge Base on 'Parse error near' you will find them. I can't see anything specifically relating to 11.1.2.1 or a known defect in the release notes... ...I'd get a support ticket raised, if you haven't already.
    You don't mention platform, but I've also run into a bug running 'deploy' in 11.1.2.1 on a 64-bit Windows environment and there was a Unix bug too, but they both caused crashes so probably aren't your problem.

    I'm seeing these messages show up in the Message Log over and over. I can't find much info on them.

    Its not causing any problems that I can see. The web authorization for our guest network is still working fine.
    My WLC is a 5508 running 7.2.103.0.

    Hi, I have same messages if using CWA with ISE Guest portal. Also working fine for Windows7, but I have problem with iPhone/iPad - only blank white screen www.apple.com. Is this bug related to my problem?

  • XML parse error in IPS

    I've setup IPS on 5515-X

    Does anyone have similar problem?

    Okay after further investigation this error shows up only when i connect with Cisco IDM. So i suspect there must be a bug in IDM 7.3.2.

  • Themes are useless after the latest GTK3 update - Theme parsing errors

    Hi!
    I have this problem, all my themes became useless.
    The main problem was the url format in the gtk.css and gtk-widgets.css files, there were "url (" but only "url(" works. I fixed it in some themes, but still none of them are working correctly. I still get error messages like this:
    Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-widgets.css:598:21: Expected ')'
    here are only tabulators
    or like this:
    Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-widgets.css:378:41: Expected valid border
    there's a correct url to an existing image
    What should I do?

    I have this too after tonight's update to gtk3.2 and I'm guessing its a bug so hopefully someone more experienced with gtk3 is already on it.
    I've got work in the morning so can't really look into it but if its not fixed by wednesday I'll give  it my best shot.
    TBH I'm starting to get sick of gtk breaking things.
    With GNOME 3.2 almost upon us there is some bad news about theme support. The current themes for GNOME Shell and GTK3 will probably break in 3.2, so I'll yet again have to adapt them. 3.2 will add much needed features in GTK 3, like border image, which will make themes look better.
    On the positive side as said though, GNOME 3.2 will be better for making themes.
    So I would guess the themes just need tweaking. I'll look into it when I have  more time.

    Pierre,
    Depending on the object "myLastFile", the method openDlg might not even exist (if the myLastFile object is not a File object, for instance). And I do not see any need for the myLastFile anyhow, as you are presenting a dialog to select a file to open. I recommend using the global ChooseFile( ) method instead. This will give you a filename as string in full path notation, or null when no file was selected in the dialog. I am not sure what your ExtendScript documentation states about the return value for ChooseFile, but if that differs from what I am telling you here, the documentation is wrong. So, if you replace the first lines of your code with the following it should work:
    function openXMLFile ( ) {
        var filename = ChooseFile ( "Choose XML file ...", "", "*.xml", Constants.FV_ChooseSelect );
    While writing this, I see that Russ has already given you the same advice. Use the symbolic constant value I indicated to use the ChooseFile dialog to select a single file (it can also be used to select a directory or open a file - but you want to control the opening process yourself). Note that this method allows you to set a start directory for the dialog (second parameter). The ESTK autocompletion also gives you a fifth parameter "helplink" which is undocumented and can safely be ignored.
    Good luck
    Jang
