Bug: Null Element Width and Max Width on page item won't stay null (v3.0.1)

Well, it's pretty much what it says. I'm trying to edit a page item and remove the width and max width on the Element properties. When I remove them and hit apply it functions properly, and the page item shows up with no width or max width property set. However, if I go to edit the page item again, the Width and Max Width fields are populated (30 and 2000 respectively) again. Thus, any action which saves the item will save the unwanted values. I don't want a width and a max width on the item; it shouldn't put them back.

value has previously been provided"?Well, I would assume that there is something unique about the initial creation of an item versus the editing thereof (e.g. the item does not exist in the database, yet). It's only on create that you would want to provide default values, that is, when no value has previously been provided by the user. Any other time the item is edited, it already exists and any values submitted should not be overridden or replaced. Off the top of my head, this could be done with table level defaults (if all item types were to share the same defaults for all properties), or via an insert trigger. Either way, the defaults would only be applied on create, and not on edit.

Why does Live View not work with the following: @media only screen and (max-width: 480px)?

When I use the above media query in my stylesheet Live View ceases to update the viewport. I have to update it manually each time I add or change a style. This is not the case when I use styles under a common tablet sized query @media only screen and (max-width: 768px), or when there is no query at all. Is this a bug or is there something I am missing here?

client_width : Specifies the width of the area in which you can add items (client rectangle).
Width : Specifies the form width (including the title area) in pixels.

Find new width and height of a rotated item

hi all,
I have an issue where I have a rectangle that I rotate and I need to know the new width and height of the bounding box of the rectangle when it has been rotated
example:
I have this rectangle shape
so its known width and height is 20pixels x 60pixels
now i rotate the rectangle by 90 degrees
so it looks like this
now its 60pixels x 20 pixels
but all i know is the width height is 20 x 60
how do I calculate the new width and height after rotation?
obviously a rotation of 45 degrees would mean the bounding box will not be 20 x 60 or 60 x 20 so I need to take that into consideration

If your shapes are not restricted to being rectangels, then the bounding box after rotation can't be calculate from simply the bounding box before rotation alone.
Simples counter-example:
The bounding box of those two shapes are equivalent:

{noformat}But after a 45 degree rotation, their bounding boxes are different.
For the exact way to calculate the bounding box for arbitrary shapes, you'll need to consult some geometry books (or wait and hope for a useful hint here, I can't give one).

Max Date in Page item

Has anyone figured out how to get a date field to default to max date when used as a page item. I have select max(timestamp), create an item timetwo that -= max(timestamp), you name it we have abused and used it. Nothing seems to work.. I am sure we are missing the obvious. Any help appreciated.

Invalid datetime format (null) Elements 4 and 7

I have about 20,000 photos in Elements 4 organizer (windows XP SP2). I am trying to get the catalog in shape to be converted to Elements 7 format--it will not convert at present, telling me the file has errors in which need to be fixed before conversion. In Elements 4 I've run "Recovery" which completes successfully (several times). I've tried "reconnect all files" which reports all files are connected.
But I think I have found the problem. There is one file/photo with the same name (it is the same photo) both inside and outside of a version set. I do not know how or when this happened.
Whenever I try to do any of the following I get the same error
1. Delete either version of the file (i.e. inside or outside of the version set)
2. Stack the outside file/photo with the 2 in the version set
3. Convert the version set to individual photos
The Error is
The ODBC data source reported the following error
"[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Invalid datetime format (null)"
By the way, the metadata for this photo has a proper date. I have tried various tricks like deleted the file outside of Elements, adding it back with a reconnect, etc. No resolution.
I am completely stumped. By the way, other than this, the Organizer seems to work OK (a bit slow sometimes, but that is relative. I was hoping 7 would be faster).
Please advise.

The file 133_3386 is the problem file I noted. However the first instance in the log above has a 2005_04_22 date, which does not exist in the actual file.
I don't have PSE5 and I don't know ACCESS. Does any of this make sense?

Assigning NULL in a select statement to a page item that doesn't exist? 2.2

Hi all,
Should the following raise an exception or cause an error? It does not in APEX 2.2.0. This is in a PL/SQL region at the "After Header" render point.
Using a value other that NULL causes an error.

It probably should but it doesn't in any version. It's because before it tries to update session state it compares the old and new values. If they're the same it skips the update. Since v('NOT_AN_ITEM') is null and the bound value is null, no update is attempted and no exception is raised.

SWF at 100 % width and proportional height

I have a SWF that I would like to use in an XHTML 1.0 Strict document.
My need is that the flash must:
- Be 100% width
- Grow / shrink proportionally in height (depending on width)
- The flash may not be cropped or distorted
- I must be able to to put a div just before the flash
- I must be able to place a div right after the flash
The flash should behave just as if you pasted below image in an HTML file:

"exactFit" scales the file to fit exactly within the confines of the screen, irregardless if the movie becomes consequently distorted. The original aspect ratio is not maintained. So round things are not round and squares are not square.

"showAll" scales the movie to the size of the screen (which could cause pixelation if the file contains raster information), the difference between showAll and exactFit is that showAll mantains initial movie size proportions. Because it maintains the original aspect ratio, there can be space to the sides or the top and bottom. But everything always shows and they are not distorted. But notice the photo in the center, it becomes pixilated at larger screen resolutions.
The trickiest part of trying to go full screen is that it’s difficult to make the Flash wider without making it taller also, that is, to maintain the correct proportions or aspect ratio of everything on the stage. These methods are just simple scaling accomplished with html. There are also methods to dynamically scale the stage and it’s elements using Actionscript… but that’s a much more complex undertaking.

How much longer will we have to wait before Adobe fixes the bugs in Elements 10?

Lassoo misbehaving - I use it all the time - I'm seriously thinking of consigning Elements 10 to the bin and going back to Elements 8. Can't save file owing to program error - every second or third save - drives me bananas. I know, I know, if I click in the corner of the box a couple of times it works again but I expect a program to work as described not to have to patch it up myself.
So come on Adobe pull your finger out and fix it - I spent my money on your product now you spend some of yours on getting it right.

If you look around at all the forums and support sites you will find this exact same question be asked everywhere concerning numerous bugs. Right now the only answer you get is "try elements 11 you'll like it". So in my humble opinion I think ADOBE plans on fixing the bugs in elements 9 and 10 when you know what freezes over and not a minute sooner. For all those considering elements 11 you might want to wait and see what shows up in the forums concerning any bugs it may have, because based on any past experience they won't fix until next version (12) comes out, in other words you become the beta tester for the next version.

Dynamic alignment of report column and page item value

Hi friends,
I have an interactive report which contains the columns like

<li>Name
In the above i have "empno" with a column alignment of left and a "Name" with a column alignment of left.
Whether it is possible to override the data alignment that we set in the report according to the value of the application item like
If my application item value is US, then i need the column alignment of both the column"empno" and "Name" to be left and if my application item value is AR, then i need the column alignment of both the column "empno" and "Name" to be right. Whether is it possible to achieve the dynamic alignment to the report data of both the columns "empno" and "Name" according to the application page item value.
And also in the case of page item i have a page item with a name P1_NAME in which it has a Element Horizontal/Vertical alignment to left.
I need that element alignment of the page item to behave dynamically according to the application page item, like if the application page item is US then the element alignment of the page item has to be left and if the application page item is AR then the element alignment of the page item has to be right.
Whether is it possible to achieve my above two scenario's friends. Kindly help me with this.

But im going with the DA way. I have certain query regarding this kees.

Arangement of Page Items and Regions

I created an APEX page (version 4.0.1.00.03) named Request Edit with many page items for data entry of user requests. The form has a region named Request Edit that holds the data entry page items. Within the region is a region for buttons. There were two addition regions on the page below the buttons named Jobs a report region and Audit a Show/Hide region. The users do not like to scroll the page during data entry so I decided to place many page items into three new Hide/Show regions name Requestor, Recipient, and Service. I defined the regions and then moved the page items to one of the three regions Requestor, Recipient, and Service. When the page is displayed the three new regions displayed after the audit region. I wanted the new regions to display after the Request Number and before the Comments page items. I decide to change the Parent Region in the User Interface properties of the page to Request Edit for the new regions. That moved the three regions above the Audit region but after the Comments page item.
What properties of the three new regions Requestor, Recipient, and Service will position the new regions after the Request Number and before the Comments Page items? Is it necessary to define the Parent Region in the User Interface properties of the page to Request Edit for all of the regions?
To describe visually what I am trying to do imagine the following simplified page:
