Bug: RichTextEditor "Initialize" not classed as event handler

I'm trying to load the RichTextEditor control in a popup window. Here's my code:
var rte:RichTextEditor = new RichTextEditor();
rte.width   =  600;
rte.height  =  500;
rte.title   =  'Edit Text';
I need to add the initialize event handler so I can add a button to the toolbar (as per the example on the Adobe website).
However, when I type:
rte.initialize  =  "addSaveButton()";
Flash Builder says this is invalid as "initialize" is actually a function and doesn't accept any parameters.
Compare this with:
<mx:RichTextEditor initialize="addSaveButton()"/>
Flash Builder recongises "initialize" as an event handler and therefore accepts the addSaveButton() function.
Can anyone else confirm whether this is a bug with the SDK or not? I can simply add the button outside of the RTE for now, but then I'd have to wrap the RTE in a separate panel to accomodate the button, which isn't ideal.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
this is how to add the event listener
rte.addEventListener(FlexEvent.INITIALIZE,addSaveButton);
David.

  • Enhance standard class with event handler method

    In trying to enhance a standard class with a new event handler class, I find that the ECC 6.0 EHP4 system does not appear to recognise the fact the method is an event handler method.  The specific example is a new method to handle the event CL_GUI_ALV_GRID->USER_COMMAND.
    I notice that the flag called Active has not been ticked - see image below.  Perhaps this is the reason why the event handler is not being triggered.
    Note that there is an event handler for the same event in the standard class which obviously is executed as expected.  Any ideas on limitations in the system or I am missing a step?
    Thanks
    John

    Thank you for your replies.
    There is a bug in the ALV handler of a standard SAP class (when executed in ITS WebGUI) and I was hoping to create a custom event handler as an Enhancement to execute some custom code to sort of "handle the bug".
    I agree - ideally it should be done in a Z class but that will not give me access to the object methods and attributes of the enhanced class.
    Cheers,
    John

  • Anonymous class for Event handling isnt working

    my anonymous class is not working.i keep gettin an invalid method declaration. i think im either mispelling something somewhwere or missing a curly.
    public SpouseGUI(){
         add(new JButton("test"){
    addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
              public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){
                   JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"hi","hi",3);
                   }//end method
              }//end action listener
    }//end anonymous class
                   setSize(100,100);
    setVisible(true);
    //end of constructor

    Yeah, you shouldn't use anonymous classes like that; that's not the purpose of anonymous classes. If you really, really, want to use an anonymous class, you will have to use a initializer block, like this:
    p.add(new JButton("test") {
        { // initializer block
            addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
                public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
                    // do something
    });But there is absolutely no point in doing that, it's much better to just create the button and add the action listener:
    JButton btn = new JButton("test");
    btn.addActionListener(...);
    add(btn);

  • Repost -Bug? UIX - errors management in event handling

    Scenario:
    We have an UIX page bound to a BC4J view. An attribute of the entity behind this view has two validator rules. We change the value of the edit box corresponding to this attribute in such manner that on update, the validation fails for both rules. Since the transaction is into bundled exception mode, no error is thrown. Finally, we try to commit the transaction. This time the error is reported but not as expected. Rather than obtaining at least two error messages we get something like this: "JBO-27023: Failed to validate all rows in a transaction." Of course, for any user, this error message is useless :-(.
    Digging a little bit into the RenderingContext->dataProviders... we can see that the messageData contains (as expected) only a string: "JBO-27023: Failed to validate all rows in a transaction."
    I think that we should be able to find into this messageData, the original exception (if existing)? Maybe BaseEventHandler.processValidationError should also be able to receive this exception. etc. Or maybe, we may use a mechanism similar to oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUApplication and oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUErrorHandler.
    Meantime, do we have any workaround?
    thanks

    This is a bug. I have filed it.
    Thanks Gabrielle. Do you have any workaround? Or do you know when this bug will be fixed? I don't want to rewrite all handlers. ;-)

  • Anonymous listeners vs entire class being event handler

    Hi all,
    I noticed that if adding event handlers to components like this
    myButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){...});
    compiles an extra class for each anonymous class/this is how it is expected to be/.
    If the enclosing class is declared as an ActionListener and the actionPerformed method is implemented to dispath event depending on the event source both the total size of the classes compiled from the source and the count of files are decreased /sometimes the difference is significant/.
    My question is: Is there a reason to use anonymous listeners instead of making the enclosing class a listener? I mean since size and file count are decreased are there any penalties arising from that?
    Thanks
    Mike

    I also like the anonymous action listeners if I have multiple buttons. I think it is cleaner to have a button and its action declared together the have to find the actionPerformed methods, follow through if(actionCommand.equals(...)) lines to find what I want.
    For instance, I like this better:
    JButton close = new JButton("Close");
      close.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
                                public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
                                  //some closeing stuff
    JButton makeNew = new JButton("New...");
      makeNew.addActionListner(new ActionListener() {
                             public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
                               //Some make new stuff
       });than this:
      JButton close = new JButton("Close");
        close.addActionListener(this);
      JButton makeNew = new JButton("New...");
        makeNew.addActionListener(this);
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
      String command = ae.getActionCommand();
      if ("New...".equals(command)) {
        //do make new stuff
      } else if ("Close".equals(command)) {
        //do close stuff
    }Mainly because 1) when you see the button, you see what it does. 2) Each actionPerformed only does one thing. No need to search thorugh the method to find what happens when a particular button is pushed
    Like was said, this is probably all just a matter of opinion.

  • OIM 11.1.1.5.0 - Pre process event handler

    Hi everyone, I'm trying to configure a preprocess event handler to automate email and user login when I click on "create user".
    I mean when I want to create a new user, I just want to fill the first name, the last name, the organization and the type and this preprocess will fill automatically the email and the user login fields. I don't know if it's possible or not with an event handler ?
    Thanks
    Thibault

    If you want this event handler only for manual user creation using UI then you can go with pre-process event handler. The advantage you get is, no need of refereshment. once user created email and user login field will be visible. But in case of post process you have to refresh it manaually. Yes, you have to use post process event handler if the same field you want to populate on Trusted recon as well. Beacause, Pre- process doesn't work with Trusted recon.
    Hope above will help you to decide for pre or post to use.
    Now, for registering plugin. Don't put jar in the zip, you have to place .class in case of event handler. jar we use for scheduled task. place your class file like below and zip
    lib/*package structure folder*/EmailLoginAuto.class
    ie lib/com/test/eventhandler/EmailLoginAuto.class
    for importing eventhandler.xml put it anywhere in your directory structure
    ex: /tmp/db/eventhandler.xml
    and update the from_location as /tmp in weblogic.properties
    --nayan

  • Event Handling - Swing Window to Console Switch

    I have a serious problem with an app I am writing - I have a swing 'main menu' system built around a standard JFrame which calls a new instance of another class. This other class takes input from the keyboard and is displayed in the standard console window; i.e Using the standard System.out.print() syntax.
    My problem is the Swing window will not release the input stream to allow the conole to take input from the keyboard. I have implemented inner-classes within the 'main menu's' class for event handling purposes; in this case the mouse-clicks of the menu's JButton components. The problem only manifests itself when the inner-class' event handling code is called - I wrote some test methods to call the console classes code without using the inner-class' and the console works perfectly. It is my conclusion, therefore, that the calling of the console-based method from within the inner-class of the Swing super-class reserves the input for the Swing components, failing to reactivate the console. I have tried creating new InputStream objects but to no avail.
    Does anyone know how to release or terminate the methods within the inner-classes (they are all void / no return type as they implement the ActionListener abstract class)? This, I hope, will return the focus to the console.
    Any advice would be most greatfully received.
    LEC.

    If you were to have your connection object declared so that it could be referenced from anywhere in your class then you could use it in you actionPerformed method. For example:
    public class Test extends JFrame
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbspprivate Connection con = null;
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsppublic void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp{
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspMyDetails appmydet = new MyDetails(con, id); //connection, userID
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspappmydet.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE );
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp}
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsppublic void setConnection(Connection theCon)
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp{
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspcon = theCon;
    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp}

  • Need Help with Event Handler Code - Doesnt come up in Event Handler Manager

    Hello there,
    Below is the code snippet that I am using to create a event handler:
    package com.oracle.events;
    import com.thortech.util.logging.Logger;
    import com.thortech.xl.client.events.tcBaseEvent;
    import com.thortech.xl.dataobj.tcDataObj;
    import com.thortech.xl.util.logging.LoggerModules;
    public class tcCheckOvrallProvStatusUDFs extends tcBaseEvent
         private static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(LoggerModules.XL_JAVA_CLIENT);
         public tcCheckOvrallProvStatusUDFs()
              setEventName("Generating tcCheckOvrallProvStatusUDFs");
    * @Override
    * @throws Exception
         protected void implementation() throws Exception {
              tcDataObj data = getDataObject();
              String OIDProvStatus = data.getString("usr_udf_oidusrprovstatus");
    String EBSProvStatus = data.getString("usr_udf_ebstcausrprovstatus");
              if (OIDProvStatus.equals("Provisioned") && EBSProvStatus.equals("Provisioned")) {
                   setOverAllProvStatus(data);
         * @param data
         * @throws Exception
         private void setOverAllProvStatus(tcDataObj data) throws Exception
              data.setString("usr_udf_ovrrscprovstatus", "Provisioned");
    Its a simple code that I am using to populate value of a UDF field depending on the value of other 2 fields. I want to trigger it on Post-Insert and Post-Update events.
    But even if I restart the OIM server after placing the successfully compiled file (0 errors, 0 warnings) into the EventHandlers folder of OIM_HOME; it doesnt show up in the Design Console -> Development Tools -> Business Rule Definition -> Event Handler Manager. :( In order to create a event handler i need that file to show up in the lookup of event handlers/adapters. This JAR file doesnt come up over there.
    Is there anything missing within the code ?
    What else needs to be specified?
    Please provide some guidance.
    Thanks,
    - jhb.

  • Disable Sharepoint 2010 Event Handler

    I have two different event handler solutions in a list. One event handler runs on multiple lists if an Item is being Updated. Lets call that event handler (A). I have another event handler that runs on only one list. Lets call that event handler (B). Both
    the event handlers (A) and (B) runs on the list that I am talking about. When an item is being updated, I have some scenarios when I want to disable event handler (B) but not (A). Event Handler (A) should run as usual. How do I disable just one event Handler?
    I am using the code below to disable and enable the event handlers. This is disabling both the event handlers.
    EventFiring eventFiring = new EventFiring();
    eventFiring.DisableHandleEventFiring();
    ....some code
    eventFiring.EnableHandleEventFiring();

    Hi,
    According to your description, you may want to manage the execution of the two Event Receivers for a specific list.
    As a common practice, it is not recommended to control an Event Receiver from another Event Receiver, I would suggest you use the Event Receiver (A) only to capture the ItemUpdated event.
    Since you might have different logic in the two Event Receivers, a possible workaround I can provide is that you can execute the two different logic accordingly by checking the name of the list which the item event occurs in, usually, an if…else… block would
    do the trick.

  • Convert onEnterFrame Event Handler  AS2 code into AS3

    My code of AS2 is given below. I do not know what event handler type is used and which event handler is used in AS3.
    onEnterFrame = function(){

    this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,onEf);
    // "this" references the movie itself, you can also use "stage" or the instance name of an object on the stage
    // look up addEventListener in the online help. This method takes two arguments, the event that you want to "listen" for and the name of the function to execute when the event occurs.
    // the function that will be called when the event occurs. It takes one argument that corresponds with the first argument of the addEventListener method.
    function onEf(event:Event):void {

  • OID resource goes to Disabled Status after running the post process event handler

    Hi,
    We have an event handler on post update operation. The event handler using the user manager API to do some modification. We are using the "Lock()" function of User Manager API to lock the user based on attribute value. After running the event handler though the user gets locked as expected, it also disables the OID resource after that. We have other resources along with OID but they are not affected with event handler. Only the OID user is triggering the disable operation on locking the user on event handler. We have used the OID 11g Connector for implementation.
    If you manually lock the user in user interface it's not going to disable status.
    How we can stop to disable the OID User Account.
    Thanks

    No.If you lock the user in Console it's not going disable status.
    Thanks
