BUG: Unable to publish any photo with a width or height 800 pixels.

My first attempts to publish a Photo page resulted in an alarmingly consistent: "Publish error: an error occurred while publishing file {filename}.jpg". These are standard .jpgs from a variety of digital cameras which I've been putting up on various photo pages using Homepage directly in .Mac, so one would think that they would work in iWeb without a hitch.
Well.... it just doesn't work, and it stalls as soon as it hits "Uploading Photos..." before I eventually get the "Publish error" described above.
This appeared to be file dimensions related (I was able to get a much smaller image to publish), so I investigated.
A file that's 667 wide by 1000 high fails every time. Scale down to 334 x 500, it works. Trying some sizes in between: 534x800 works. 666x999 fails. (567x850 fails. 550x825 fails. 534x801 fails.
So my guess is, it's looking like any picture with a dimension greater than 800 pixels on either side will fail. Let's test this.
Stretching the image to 800x800: It works!
Stretch it again to 801x800: It fails!
The verdict: can't publish a photo with a width or height > 800 pixels.

Apple: please fix this....! It's possible to work around this for now, but this is totally undocumented and not very friendly...!

I am unable to upload any photos to photo sharing sites?

For the last two days I have been unable to upload any photos regardless of size to a professional photo sharing website. I have tried everything possible such as disabling my Norton services, emptying the DNS cache, clearing all browers histories and all cookies. I've tried creating new accounts on the website and nothing has worked. I then tried to upload photos to another site and when the photo started to load it said that I lost internet connection yet I didn't. I am able to use my daughter's dell and can upload photos just fine on any site with her computer. I did a live chat with Norton and they ran me through a series of things as well and said it is something with my mac. Does anyone have any suggestions???? I'm at a complete loss and beyond frustrated with this entire experience.

Hi, Thank you so much for the info.... I really do appreciate it. We had the laptop updated by way of a system upgrade with RAM and an additional SSD drive. Once reconfigured all programs were reinstalled but Iphoto is not among them. Iphoto was on the laptop when purchased so we have no additional discs. Before the laptop was updated we backed the photos up to an extrenal hard drive so we have them, but cant access them. Could I purchase Iphoto 8 stll? Would this work? We would also require an external CD drive as we no longer have the disc drive in the laptop (I think the extra new bits took over). You may have noticed I have very limited knowledge on computers so any help dispite how simple it may sound to some would help me greatly. I just want all my photos back .... Thanks inadvance... When the prompt pops up next time you start iPhoto select Learn more. Then click on iPhoto preferences and select the Accounts tab. Delete your MM account and the quit iPhoto. Next time you open iPhoto the problem should be eliminated.

HT4007 printing greeting cards with 7" width & 5" height

I print photos on greeting cards with specific dimensions: each greeting card is 7 inches in width & 10 inches in height; each is scored in the middle allowing me to print 2 (5x7") photos per card. Whenever a photo is printed it is not in a landscape mode. It seems to me that Aperture is defaulted to print 5x7" photos with the width being 5" & the height 7". I place the greeting card into the printer with the width being 7" & the height 5" with the orientation being in the portrait mode. To date, I have had no luck printing a photo with the correct orientation on the greeting card.

Have you tried to edit a custom print preset like the above? Page size 10x7 inches,
image siz 5x7, 2 rows, one column, orientation landscape, no borders?
Works for me.

IPHOTO As a result of trying to import "selected" files, I am now unable to import any photo.

See if you can upoad the files from the memory card to a folder on the Desktop with Image Capture or with a card reader. If you can then put the card back in the camera and reformat it with the camera. Take some test shots and try importing as you normally do again.

Fullscreen published in flash - htm 100% width and height file is too big

Hello everyone
I need some help to create a fullcreen flash animation inside
dreamweaver.
What I did was to create a html file published in flash 100%
width and height.
It worked well on my explorer browser, but the size of the
file is 995 k and this would be my index.
When I publish on my provider the file doesn't open, probably
is too big as an index, i don't know.
Is there anyone there that could help me on that one?

Well, firstly you have > 60 minutes of video, therefore, you should not use the 60 minute preset. Since you have 80 minutes of video, you're probably better off using the 90 minute preset.
Secondly, the presets assume that you are compressing your audio to AC3 with A.pack or Compressor 2 (depending on which version of DVDSP you're using). Uncompressed audio takes up lots of disc space and bandwidth.
Thirdly, the difference between the measured size in the Finder and the size in DVDSP is the difference between true gigabytes (how the Finder measures things) and billions of bytes (how DVDSP measures things). When you Get Info in the Finder, look at the number following the file size in GB... it's a larger number that's so many billions of bytes. This larger number should agree with the number you see in DVDSP. See the DVD FAQ for a discussion of this issue.

Mask clipping only works with absolute widths and heights

Unable to open any photos in CS4

Hi, my name is Cheryl, and I am new to the group. I am just about ready to throw this dang computer out the window! I am running Vista 64 bit, and have downloaded my CS4 to it. It will not let me download any updates thru the Help section- gives me "Adobe Output module 2.1 Failed to install. Install process has encountered a problem" but do you think it tells me what the problem is???!!!!! No way! LOL It also tells me the "Services update- Failed to install" I have been at this for several days, and I am just about at my wits end! And when I try to open photos in CS4 it tells me "The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files (x86)\CommonFiles\Adobe\AdobeVersionCueCS4\Client\4.0.1\VersionCue.DLL" I understand the RAW files from my new camera (Canon T1I) won't open because there is no plug-in for it yet, but I can't even open RAW from my previous camera (Rebel XT), nor will it open any JPEGs. I get the same message for any attempts. I had no problems with the CS2 opening my older RAW files or JPEGs. When I open CS4 I get a message about the NVIDIA upgrade, which I finally was able to get that downloaded, tho I still get the message when opening CS4. I also am having issues now, that says the computer is giving me a "Blocked Startup Programs" message when turning on the computer. Is this affecting the CS4 somehow?? I never had this message until the last month or so. Have no idea why it is now blocking programs. The Adobe CS4 Service Manager is on the list of blocked programs. Any ideas how to go about unblocking these, and reasons why they may have been blocked in the first place? The list is about 30 programs long! As you can tell, my computer "knowledge" leaves much to be desired! Any advice that anyone can give me would be most greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Cheryl

OK, I uninstalled CS4, reinstalled it, rebooted the computer, tried to open jpegs- didn't work.
Tried to install updates from Help, it installed a few, but still won't install "Adobe Output module 2.1" and "Adobe CS1 CS4 1.0.1 Adobe Drive CS4 1.0.1 Adobe CS1 CS4x64 1.0.1"
I'm really tempted to just wipe clean the computer and use my Restore disk to just start over. I'm not sure what is causing the problems with this thing.
So now I'm headed for bed, and will start fresh in the morning and hope for the best! I'll keep you posted.

Unable to Publish Project Media with Timelines?

I am trying to publish a project as F4V (converted to mp4) for use as a software demo (voiceover). Therefore I need to keep the timlines that I established in the captivate project, but it appears that whenever I export the project and media I lose the timelines.
I should add that there are full motion captures that would need to be there as well that are instead of being a specified period of time appear to be using a default (3 second?) period of time.
I am hoping this is somethign in the settings I can address.

I'm lost when you say you need to publish "with Timelines".
I'm going to take a stab and wildly assume that you mean the timing gets off after you publish? Note that there are multiple options when publishing as F4V.

I've seen other posts where mismatched audio is present and the recommendation was to use F4V with fixed frame rate. So perhaps try that?

Unable to install any applications with PCSuite

I have the latest PC Suite. Problem:
Cannot install any software onto the phone using either cable or bluetooth.
Cannot browse the phone using the Nokia Phone browser as it comes up with nothing...it wont show whats on the phone.
Only way I can transfer any software is via the obex file transfer method of sending it via a message.
Now, I dont know if this is due to an upgrade from Microsoft to sp2, as all was working about a month or so ago.
Bluetooth and usb connections are find and am using the latest drivers.
Sent an email to Nokia technical and just waiting for a reply..LOL.

I actually prefer the functionality of manually installing phone apps as you describe instead of using the PC Suite.
I don't use PC Suite to install .sis or .jar phone applications as it's too buggy to use. Instead, I use BlueTooth to transfer the file manually to the phone...
- Locate the .sis or .jar file on your PC in Windows Explorer.
- Right Click the application file.
- Select, 'Send To', 'BlueTooth Device'.
- Transfer file to your phone.
In the phone go to your inbox and select the newly received message. The .sis or .jar application should then install. For me, PC Suite is just too hit and miss to rely on. I used to have a 7650 before getting my current N70 and PC Suite was a bit of a double whammy in that it was not only buggy but when it did work it used to suck resources from the Windows OS quite badly.
Again, I don't use the phone's built in file browser as it is too limited and hides too many folders, I guess mainly to protect newbies from crippling their smart phone. Instead I use FExplorer V1.15 which is an excellent piece of S60 freeware. The application is available from

and imho is an essential app for any Series 60 smart phone. Be warned though!! If you don't know your way around the system directories and accidently delete the wrong system file you can end up seriously damaging your phone, just like Windows etc.

DPM 2012 R2 Bug: Unable to backup a VM with the same name as an old VM

Scenario:
You have a VM called "Virtual Machine 1" running on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V cluster and you backup this virtual machine using DPM 2012 R2.
You remove "Virtual Machine 1" from DPM, selecting delete replicas and expire all tape backups, and then delete the VM from the cluster as it is no longer required.
Later you create a new virtual machine called "Virtual Machine 1" on the same cluster. You attempt to backup the VM with DPM however when attempting to add the VM to a protection group you get the error "DPM cannot access the path \Online\Virtual
Machine 1 because part of the path has been deleted or renamed. Check the path and enter it again". Refreshing the data source/clearing the cache doesn't help
The only solution I could find that worked was to delete the data source record in DPMDB..tbl_IM_DataSource for the virtual machine. This also required deleting records that referenced the DataSourceId in other tables.

Unable to find any record with GUID/Deleting old users from the Proxy DB

It seems that I have old users in my proxy db that need removing as per the below post.

Could this have something to do with the fact that I have my iCal Server bound to my ODM?

Additionally, can you confirm that all server components are running the latest updates, as are the clients / phones involved in the conference?
I've seen this exact behavior when the invite / adding of additional participants was being performed ad-hoc on a CX3000. It transpired that a firmware upgrade on that device rectified the problem.

Is Flash plugin disabled?
Safari 5.1.7 for OS X Lion, Safari 5.1.7 for OS X Snow Leopard, and Leopard Security Update 2012-003 disable out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player.
Out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player do not include the latest security updates and will be disabled to help keep your Mac secure. If Safari 5.1.7 or Leopard Security Update 2012-003 detects an out-of-date version of Flash Player on your system, you will see a dialog informing you that Flash Player has been disabled. The dialog provides the option to go directly to Adobe's website, where you can download and install an updated version of Flash Player.
Additional Information
If you need to re-enable an out-of-date version of Flash Player, you can do the following:
    1.    Navigate to the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins (Disabled) folder.
    2.    Drag "Flash Player.plugin" into /Library/Internet Plug-Ins.
    3.    If the browser is running, quit and restart it.
