Burning cd of photo to work on dvd player

Hello!
I want to burn pictures that I have on my macbook onto a blank cd so that I can play then on my dvd player. I am able to get the pictures on the cd, but not able to make it play on the dvd player. I do not have a dvd burner.
Thanks!

Was kinda hoping you'd clarify the photo's onto disk thing a little more.
I dragged and dropped a couple of hundred .jpg photo's straight onto a blank DVD disk (root of DVD) using the Finder's CD burn utility (iPhoto 11 also states using this method), however when I pop the DVD disc into a JPG photo playing DVD player, it does not play and states that it doesn't recognize format/disc.
Do the JPG's/JPEG's need to be placed into a DCIM folder first from the mac when burning to a DVD disc in order for a standard JPEG playing DVD player looking for this type of named folder first? If so would I have to further add yet another folder within the DCIM folder as well?
Cheers

  • Why doesn't my slideshow burned to disc not play on my dvd player or game devices?

Why doesn't my slideshow burned to disc not play on my dvd player or game devices?  I've created the slideshow using my Mac on OS X 10.6.8 & burned to both a CD-R & DVD disc.  The disc does work on my computer; however will not play on my dvd player, projectors or gaming devices.

Did you use iDVD to create a video DVD or did you burn a Quicktime file version of your slideshow to a DVD disk via the Finder thus creating just a data disk?
If you didn't use iDVD then that's the reason the disk won't play on those other devices.

I finished a movie, and saved it as a MP4 file. How do you save and burn a movie to play in a dvd player and show on your tv.

  • Burned a movie to DVD from Macbook, but dvd wont work on DVD player

how come does this message saying, this type of disc cannot play on a DVD player?, but it still works on the computer

Is your DVD player capable of playing DVDR? If it is then perhaps its just the way the file was burned. If you have a different DVD try using that and see if it plays. If that doesn't work then either your DVD player doesn't play DVDR or your settings are wrong.

  • Burned DVDs don't work in DVD player

Hi, I've burned a couple of DVDs using my MacBook Pro, and although they play OK in the Mac they don't play in my DVD player or on a PC. Has anyone else found this? My latest effort was an iDVD movie that was over an hour long and so I used the 'highest quality' setting and PAL because I thought that's what you use for the UK. It all worked quite slowly as my MacBook Pro doesn't have much free space left.
    Any ideas?

Did you select PAL BEFORE starting your project or after you had started? You should select PAL before starting a project. This could cause problems with your DVD player.
What brand of writable DVD media did you use? Was it DVD-R or DVD+R? What was the rated burn speed?

This can cause lots of problems in creating a project. You probably should have over 10 GB free to do any iDVD work.

  • Encore burned DVD won't work in DVD Player

I just created, built and burned a DVD in the latest version of Encore on my i7 MacBook Pro. After the disc is burned, it works perfectly in both a PC and a mac computer. Unfortunately it doesn't work in my Vizio DVD/Blue-Ray Player. I have double checked to make sure normal DVDs play normally, which they do.
The contents of the DVD take up about 4.65 GBs of space and include a few PDFs as DVD-ROM.
I literally followed every instruction to the letter and am just not sure why it's not working in the DVD Player. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The DVD burner is the stock burner on the 2012 MacBook Pro 13inch (not retna display) I think it's a: Matshita DVD-R UJ-8A8(Firmware HB14)
    The DVD was just a Maxwell DVD-R, 4.7GB, 16x.
I will try burning without the DVD-ROM contents and let you know.
Thanks again for helping me with this.

  • Burned Disk Image Won't Play on DVD Player and Work Around

    Hi all,
I was having problem with DVD not being recognized on a regular, stand alone, set top DVD player. The program was created in iDVD6 and saved to disk image. Then I used Disk Utility to burn it and the resulting disc played on Mac but not regular player.
Knowing that the blank media was good from a previous Toast 7 burn, I used Toast 7's Video TS option to burn from the mounted disk image. This disc worked on regular player with one small difference. With multiple videos (in addition to chapter markers) on the DVD, fast forwarding past the end of one video would start the next one with Toast, whereas the disk image (played on the Mac) would return to DVD menu.
I never burned directly from iDVD 6, since the video conversion process took 7 - 11 hours, so I don't know if that would work or not.
I hope this is helpful to some and if anyone decides to buy Toast from Roxio directly, leaving the online cart page open for a minute or two will pop up a 10% off incentive to urge you to check out. That's as of a week or two ago.
    Yu

whereas the disk image (played on the Mac) would return to DVD menu.
That has happened to me, but not with the one project I made with iDVD 6.

  • Burned DVD won't work after DVD player 4.6.1

I made a DVD of my daughter's wedding two days ago and it played fine on my iMac G5. Yesterday I updated the DVD player with the DVD 4.6.1 update and now I can't get my DVD to show up on the desktop or play in the DVD player. Any thoughts?
    ds

I also trashed the iDVD plist to see if that will speed up my DVD burning.
Ain't gonna' happen. You should create a disk image and then burn DVDs.
    File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Disk Utility to burn the DVD.
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (not the .img, the one below) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. Your SuperDrive tray will open. Insert a recordable DVD. (DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and Tiger.
b Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD 5 project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Dvd studio pro: DVDs won't work on DVD player and windows computer

    Hi
I have burnt some dvds on DVD Studio Pro I checked they were set to SD and PAL and have played them on my MAC and DVD player no problem but now I am hearing back from my client that they tried playing them on their windows computer and laptop and their DVD player and it isn't working what could be the reason for this?
    From Mike

You can see if they have another software player available.  Usually VLC is a good option.  Windows player can be a bit all over the place depending on patches of the OS and other items.   I have encountered some strange things, including people claiming that DVDs I have authored were doing things that had nothing to do with the DVD (beyond the scope of what a DVD can do, etc.)
When you say DVD Player, does this mean they are also trying to play it in a DVD Player (real player and not in computer?)  How did you burn the DVD?  Straight from DVD SP?  Check first play settings and other items?
These are some of the first things I would be starting with, particularly if real DVD players (not in computers) are concerned.  It also can be something as small as dirt or scratches on the DVD itself.  Some machines can be better at compensating than others are.

  • Layered Menu Buttons not working on DVD player

    Hello,
I just made an SD DVD with several layered menus. The backgrounds for the menus come from photoshop files with different layers for normal, selected, and active states. Navigating the main menu works fine in the simulator and when I play the disc in my computer, however, I can not arrow to another button on dvd players. I have made several discs this way and this is the first time I have had this problem. My burn process is to make an image and then burn the image in toast. Any thought?
    -Brian

    Hi Brian - welcome.
Layered menus are particularly tricky... they almost always require two actions from the user to get them working in a player. One click to land on the button and another to select it. This is really frustrating at times, but is down to the way the layered menus work.
You can convert them to standard menus pretty easily though, and unless you absolutely need to have different layers I'd strongly advise that you do convert them. Standard overlay type menus work with a rollover type of effect, allow you to have an audio bed and work far faster on DVD players.
The only time I'd stick with layers is when the selected state reveals a further piece of information that takes up most of the menu area. In all other cases I'd avoid them if I were you

  • Can i burn quicktime files to watch on  home dvd player?

is it possible to burn some movies i have downloaded onto my computer, which i watch with quicktime and real player etc, to be able to watch them on my home dvd player as a film?
when i burn them now, it just does them as files and it wont play on my dvd player?

Yes. There are various ways & 3rd party software that will do all the work for you.
I am assuming you are trying to burn using Disk Utility?
It’s a good idea to verify the disk image before burning it. Simply mount the image, and open you DVD PLAYER app. When that’s done, go to FILE and OPEN VIEDO_TS folder. Choose the VIDEO_TS from within the mounted image and then press play. It should play back now as a dvd.
Step 1. Launch Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).
Step 2. Click Burn on the Disk Utility toolbar (upper left).
Step 3. Navigate to where you saved the DVD image.
Click on the image file, then click the Burn button. Do not drag and drop the image file into Disk Utility during this step.
Step 4. Insert a DVD when prompted and proceed to Burn it.
Another help source (if you haven't already done so).
    Open Disk Utility.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.
    3rd party burning utilities:
    Toast

  • Burning a disk to play on a DVD player

I have at last managed to combine film with music using Quicktime Player. However, when I burn to a DVD, either in .mov or .mp4, although it will play back on my computer it will not play on my DVD player. Which format do I need to enable this?

The way I do it is to close iMovie after saving the project. Then open iDVD and go to the File menu, click on Import/video and that will go to the Movies folder where you can select the project.
One irritation is that there appear to be no clear instructions about removing a theme from iDVD.
If you want a different theme just click on one.
If you don't want any theme at all (and therefore no menus):
How to create a DVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    3. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    4. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:

    hope this helps!

  • Buttons Not Working On DVD Player Box

This might be the same problem reported elsewhere, except that I'm not use Mac OS, its Win XP.  I can get buttons to highlight in Encore preview when the mouse floats over but when I build the DVD and put it in a player attached to the TV the text  remains inactive.  Using the remote arrow keys you can advance to the start of the footage for the next button and enter starts it playing, but nothing happens to the text on the menu.  The user has no idea what button has been selected until the video starts.  Did anyone solve this previously ?
    Thanks, Michael

Hello, I have little experience of PS and Encore, so let me explain what I thought I was doing as a result of following the online tutorials.
I want to add text boxes to a PS image, turn them into buttons which Encore can recognise, link these buttons to footage which, when a DVD is produced will play in a DVD player, and when the arrow keys on the remote are used that they indicate which button is available for selection.  I've achieved all of that except the last part.  I note that there are other people contributing similar items to the forum (even after I started my query) so I'm still not sure whether this is a bug or whether I'm not doing enough with the PS image to make it work.
Take one button, Sharks, as an example of what I thought I was doing and I'm perfectly willing to accept there might not be consistency between that button and the Intro button.
Initially I had (+) before the layer name Sharks with Sharks as the content of the text box layer
That didn't work so I revisited the tutorials and changed things to (+) before the Shark Set Group 1 thus telling Encore to expect a button
I entered a text layer with the word Sharks as that is how I thought I'd make the word Sharks appear as a button
I copied this and changed the text of the second layer to (=1) Sharks Button in expectation that when the remote moves to the button I could differentiate between the original text, (Sharks), and what appears when the remote "hovers over the choice like a mouse" (Sharks Button).  I anticipated that it would appear slightly offset.  If I've got the wrong expecation, fine, and at least you know what I was aiming at.
So are my expectations kranky / is there a bug or do I need to do something else.  This seems such a fundmental expectation that buttons will work on PCs and DVD yet it looks like I'm not the only person having issues
I looked up your profile.  I found the wine glass a heartening image under the circumstances, I might follow your lead, and I empathise with the eye comments !
    Best wishes, Michael
