Formatting HTML Text in Text component

Hi all,
I'm trying to render some Html text in a text component, I'm
getting the HTML from within an xml document as such:
<xml><htext><p><b>Testing HTML
Text</b></p><p>Here's another
line.</p></htext></xml>
If I put that into a Text component with the htmlText=htext
property, the line spacing is as expected, but it seems to add in a
blank space character for every character of the html code. (E.g.
"<b>Testing" adds 3 extra spaces before the word "Testing").
Renders like (using - as space character):

-Here's another line.
If I use the condeseWhite=true property on the Text
component, it fixes the extra space characters issue, but then
stuffs the line spacing up, so <p> becomes rendered like a
<br>.

Any thoughts, or help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

P.S I was trying to avoid the obvious "br" tag which will

I downloaded the new version of firefox, now my flash player wont work, the html text box is gone and so is the back and forward buttons. please help??

Not sure whether for instance you initially had a Yahoo optimised version of Firefox, and have now overwritten it with an official Mozilla version. Although the Mozilla version should NOT add unwanted features, but the Yahoo version may well do.
If you merely need to find the Yahoo emails page quickly just add it as a bookmark or as a bookmark on the Bookmarks toolbar and make sure that is visible.
Clicking the star icon on the location bar whilst looking at your emails will bookmark the page.

Buttons to send html text to textfield

How do I insert html text to a dynamic textfield?
The textfield's instance is called myDynamic. The first button is called button1_btn. I've read on htmlText and multiline, but I can't figure out how to simply attach a text to a button and, when the button is pressed, the htmlText is sent to the field.

That should be working, but for some reason it's not, so I'm guessing the problem lies with the textfield, because I tested the button by changing the function to gotoAndStop and it seems to be working, but only under some odd condition. I created the textfield manually, not with AS3, but that shouldn't make any difference, since I gave it an instance name. I work with scenes (not my choice) and I'm noticing some odd behavior, and I wonder if it may have anything to do with my problem.
For example, when I change the function to gotoAndStop (1, "del2"), the button, which is directed to del2 (part 2) will not work if you click on del3 (part 3) right away; however, if you click on del2 first, then on del3 again, and you click the button, then it's working. As for the textfield, it won't work either way; the only thing I've noticed is that if you go to del2 and back to del3, a mystical "e" appears. I wish I could explain myself better, so instead I invite you to check it out (it will only take you 20 seconds).
How to reproduce the 'error':
1. Go to http://studenter.miun.se/~stti1400/test2.swf;
2. Click on Del3;
3. Click on the yellow button in the upper left corner, under "1" (it doesn't work);
4. Now click on Del2;
5. Click on Del3;
6. Notice the "e"; now click the same button as before (it takes you to del2).

I played around a bit, changing the text of the variable to something else, like "okokokokok"; the "e" doesn't appear then. I first thought the "e" was a fragment of the text, with the rest of the text not showing.

How can i enable the html:text box when clicking the html:button

Changing The Text Color In a Radio Button Component

Hi,
I'm using a background in my frame , so I need to know how
to change the color of the Radio Button Component. I tried using
the Property Inspector , but in that the color option is disabled.
The Flash version I'm using is Flash 8. Kindly provide me a
solution for this.

There's a topic about this in the Flash help, about changing
components. You need to edit the file inside your Flash
installation folder, and make a copy of it to your liking.
But about radio buttons: is there any way to include them in
your project while maintaining the possibility of on(Keypress)
events?

Html text in label is moving when used as a renderer in a table cell

Hi everybody,
Because it is impossible to use gradient background for html, I created a custom TableCellRenderer that uses a JLabel (for the html text) inside a JPanel with a gradient background. (I use jdk1.5.0_06)
However, in the code that I'm posting, something strange happens. The text is moving up and down as I move with the arrow button along the first row, from left to right and backwards, crossing the entire row.
You can see for yourself. If someone can explain this behavior, please help!

If someone can explain this behavior, please help!Can't explaing the behavour, but it seems to work fine when you use a JeditorPane or JTextPane which are specifically designed to display HTML.

Use jbo:InputRender instead of html:text

I'm currently trying JDev 10g preview and i'm using Business Components with Struts. When i use the data control palette to create an input form in a JSP page, all the input are html:text. Is there a way to set the default type of all inputs to jbo:InputRender instead of html:text?

No, i would like to set the type of each input in my Business Component instead of in the JSP pages. This way, if i want to change the type of an input, i will have to change my business component, not my JSP pages.
So, to be able to do this, i have to change every input from html:text to jbo:InputRender in all my forms. Which i think is not optional, because if the input type is not indicated, jbo:InputRender use the input type (which in most case, except for dates, is html:text).

Dynamic text box, HTML Text with Image

Hello Everyone,
I am using Flash version 8. I have used the text tool and
created a dynamic text box and have attached the UIScrollBar
component to it. This text box is configured to allow the use of
html text to be inputted to it. I have code that reads a file which
contains a list of text files that I then read and place them into
the text box. The user can use the scroll bar to scroll through all
the text.
I have created an image that is a picture of the tab portion
of a file folder. On the tab I have place some text. This was all
done in Photoshop. This tab image is used to separate the different
stories in the text box. The image is save as a jpeg file
Everything you have just read works with out any problems.
Now for the problem!
This image is only 20 pixels tall and the text is not very
readable. As we all know the HTML tags are very limited in Flash 8.
Ideally I would like to put the text and image in to the text
box as I would normally do. Then place text on top of the image and
have it all scroll properly with in the text box.
I have taken the tab image and converted it in to a graph
symbol and then put the text on top of the image. This looks good;
however I don’t know how (or if it is even possible) to place
the graphic symbol in to the text box at the correct place within
the text.
Does anyone have ideas on what may work? Remember that the
image I am working with is only 20 pixels tall which is why the
text quality on the image is so poor.

Yes Tim I am using the <img> tag and I know that I
can’t place text over the image. I have set the height and
width to be the exact size of the image. However When you go to the
webpage it will open the movie to the maximum size based on the
resolution of your display; however I do maintain the aspect ratio
of the movie. For testing I did set a fix size to the size of the
movie. Sometimes the fix size (1000x750) looks better and sometimes
a larger size (example 1280x1024). I believe that the main problem
is the fact the size of the image is 670 pixels wide by 25 pixels
high and of the 25 pixels the text is only 18 pixels tall. In
Photoshop this makes it about a 1.75 point font. As you can see the
real problem is that I don’t have enough pixels to make up
the text. This is why I am looking for an alterative way to create
the text.
I tried importing the image into flash as a graphic symbol
and then using the text tool to create the text. The results looked
real sharp, the text was nice and crisp (just what I wanted). The
problem is that I could not find a way to place the graphic symbol
into the dynamic text area like id did using the <img> tag.
This symbol needs to scroll as you scroll the text in the text
area.
This is why I am asking for help. I am looking for some ideas
that may work.

I am getting some html text from a source, Later i want to
display that data, but it may happened that it has some images in
it. Currently I am using text area to display it.
Now My question is if there is any image will it show, as we
can see it in our mails? if Not, Which component I should use for

If I have understood your requirement properly, u want to
display html text on a flex application.
I think there its better if you use the html component to
display the text. I have a sample code which will give you a

A customizable button component

Hi,
I'm looking for a button component that allows me to customize the text field. The Flash button component allows me to edit/reskin everything except the text field. However, I can change the buttons textField via AS, but only during run time, I want a button component that allows me to change the text field so I can see the button on the stage with out having to compile a swf.
Does anyone have any solutions?

Then you have to create one in flash and make it a component.
Or you ceate a Button in flash and extend it as SimpleButton and work accorndingly.

Case 1 generated code is obvious to me, the html name of the field equals the field binding id.
In Case 2, the VB_ prefix is added and the binding variable references bindings.fieldName.path?
Could someone explain me the second flavor?
When should we use the path reference and replace the Struts html:text tag with html input tag?

Run a function in flash when click a button on HTML page

i have loaded my swf in an html/ aspx page. when i click a button in html page, i want to pause my swf movie. Actually swf has another movie clip i want to stop that. any option pls help me. possible send me some sample coadings.. i tried with externalInterface but no result..
or if i click a button in html page, i want to run a function existing in loaded swf....

Multiline checkbox / radio button component

We're now up to Flash version 8 and we still don't have a
multiline checkbox / radio button component. Has anyone either:
a. Figured out how to add a multiline text label to the
existing Flash components; or
b. Found a third party component that has multiline labels.
I'm a developer for an eLearning company, so we use these
components all the time; so having this would be a huge plus.
Frankly, it's simply beyond me why Macromedia...er...Adobe hasn't
upgraded their components to have this feature. It seems like it
wouldn't be a big thing.
Anyway, any help you can provide would be most welcome.
