Buttons, tabs, frames and panes!!

I want to set up a section of tabs running down the left side of my app. with a main frame which will bring up data that corresponds to the tab clicked. I just not exactly sure of how to do it. I made up a simple draft in html of what i would like my app to look and feel like. but im having trouble getting away from the fact of the simplicity of hyperlinks and targeting new pages to the main frame in html and finding something as easy in java.
confusing.. sorry

Here's were to start learning swing:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/
If you haven't created a gui in java before, do yourself a favor and read through the whole tutorial before coding. If you just need to learn how to use tabbedpanes, then go to Using Swing Components.

  • Zoom and Pan

    Hi,
    This is a weird question.
    Inside a 3dannotation window, Zoom is activated when press down right button and Pan when left and right buttons are pressed down.
    Can be these two functions be asigned to keyboard keys?
    Lets say when I press key number 1 Zoom is activated and when I press key number 2 Pan is activated.
    The goal is to view a 3dpdf in a touchscreen monitor. There are some on-screen Keyboards applicattion that allows you to create and personalize buttons so zoom and pan would be available on a touchscreen monitor.
    Thank you

    Plugins for Adobe Reader are not a trivial thing, not least because you need  a  license key from Adobe to sign the code before it'll work. Because of product timetables I don't have time at the moment to get involved in your project but if you want to go the plugin route I suggest asking in the Acrobat SDK forum, which is where most of the C++ programmers hang out. I'll add the SWF-proxy idea onto our list of future tutorials but it'll be a couple of months before I get round to it.
    Please don't post email addresses in your messages, with 25 million page views a month posting an address here is a sure-fire way to get spammed. If you're looking for people to assist, ask them to private-message you instead. You'll get an email notification when a new PM arrives, but your own address remains secret. bearin mind though - this isn't a job site.

  • Why is FFX 4.0.1 so ergonomically poor? Doesn't save tabs anymore and some buttones, eg refresh "designed" virtually out of existence. This starts to look like IE!!

    I am running FFX 4.0.1 over XP with SP3 and latest Windows downloads until yesterday pm.
    I don't like the way I don't get offered opportunity to save multiple tabs on closing FFX - in fact I think I ought to be offered the chance to save any tabs I have open when I close it. To me - and I guess to a lot of others that's important. I also don't like the way that the refresh button (which I use often) and others have been relegated, aren't and aren't as obvious as they used to be.
    FFX used to be ergonomically well-thought out...this looks like it is slipping backwards towards IE Standards.
    I wanted to submit this via the normal "complaints" channel, but that doesn't want to work properly. Come on Mozilla; get your act together. This is possibly the worst release in years!!
    FWIW I have been using FFX since it appeared and Netscape before that. I have never moaned about this sort of thing before. That is how poor I think that this is.

    '''Saving multiple tabs'''
    Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
    If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
    If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    '''Refresh button'''
    In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload (refresh) buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
    When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
    If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. For more details on customizing the toolbar see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar
    '''Appearance'''
    If you do not like the new UI, you can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6

    When using iTunes on my iMac, I use my Delete key to delete a song and I get a pop-up.  This is OK, except the Keep File button is defaulted and I cannot tab or arrow to the "Move to Trash" (or Cancel) button, and so I need to use my mouse.  How can I do this only with keyboard?

    Huh.. Interesting. I went back to check these proceedures and found there is a difference between using the return key or the space bar as the action command.
    tabbing the blue ring moves the selection and then spacebar takes that action. The return key takes action of only the blue collored button.

  • Submit a frame and get result on the next frame using one button

    hi
    i have my page divided into 2 frames.1st frame (master.jsp)displays records from a master table and 2nd displays corresponding records in its transcation table(trans.jsp).There is a textbox in master.jsp which indicates the record number.Now this text field is to be submitted to the master page so as to get that record at the same time submit it to the trans page so as to get its corresponding transaction table records.
    now i have two buttons with submitfrm() and getrecords()...function submitfrm()on submit button to submit the master page and function getrecords() on the 'Get record' button so as to call trans.jsp.
    function submitfrm()
    document.frm.action="master.jsp";
    document.frm.target="frame1";
    document.frm.submit();
    and
    function getrecords()
    document.frm.method="post";
    document.frm.action="trans.jsp";
    document.frm.target="frame2";
    document.frm.submit();
    i want that both funtions submitfrm() and get() to be called through a single button.if i call getrecords() from submitfrm() i get records corressponding to the previous value submitted.
    how do i go about it???

    If you want you can try a simple search on google with the following key words "Javascript Forums" to find forums just dedicated to javascript.

  • Drag JTabbedPane out of the main Frame and set scroll bars for the tabs

    hi ,
    Iam working on a Swing application . In it i have Six Tabs added to a single JTabbedPane. all the tabs are different class files . is it possible to drag any of the tabs out of the frame.
    how to add scroll bars for the tabs individually. i have tried adding JScrollPane to the main frame and add the JTabbedPane to the Scrollpane . the scroll bar was not visible and i have tried adding
    all the six tabs to the individual JScrollPanes and add the six scrollpanes to the TabbedPane .
    only the scroll arrows are visible , when i minimised or resized the application the scrollbars were not appearing .
    could any one help me to solve the above two problems.

    just trying.....
    public void mouseDragged(MouseMotionEvent e){
    // this event should be activated only when the Drag goes out of scope of the parent JFrame which i dont know how
    Component c=JTab.getComponentAt(JTab.getSelectedIndex());
    JFrameobj.getContentPane().add(c,"Center");
    }

  • Use "next" and "previous" buttons in two scroll panes

    Hello, I have a question about how to use next and previous buttons in two scroll panes. In fact, I plan to display two similar files (HTML) in two scroll panes seperately. the purpose is to find their differences, highlight these differences and finally traverse these differences one by one by using next and previous buttons.
    To realize this function, how should I mark their differences so that next and prevous buttons can recognize their locations? does anyone have idea?
    Thank you very much.

    Can "focus" resolve this problem? But how should I add focus to a line in one HTML files? Thank you.

  • Create buttons for Rotate,  Zoom, and Pan in a 3dscene

    Hi,
    I am designing a 3dpdf  and my client wants to play it in a touchscreen monitor.
    The problem comes about rotate, zoom, and Pan inside the 3d scene. As this function are activated by mouse left and right button I need to create some buttons to make these functions available.
    I have put this post at Rich Media & 3D >   Discussions Zoom and Pan
    Here the link http://forums.adobe.com/message/4557451#4557451
    Dave Merchant suggested me to bring the question to this forum.
    Can anybody help me on this?
    Thank you

    I am sorry but I do not understand.
    I am not a programer .I have not idea about SDK, how it works neither how to install it.

  • Press on Button and release outside the button armed frame

    Press on Button using the Mouse and release outside the button armed frame does not generate MouseEvent.
    Or Press on the Button outside the armed frame and release inside the armed frame does not generate MouseEvent.
    Window 7
    java version "1.6.0_22"
    Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition for Business (build 1.6.0_22-b04)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 17.1-b03, mixed mode, sharing)
    The question :
    Is this normal behaviour for Java Swing. Does this exist in the java specification? any idea ? or is this a bug ?
    the sample code below for you to test
    public class PanelButtonArmedFrameClick extends JPanel
       private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
       private JButton btn;
       public PanelButtonArmedFrameClick()
          btn = new JButton("Click on \n the button");
          this.add(btn);
          MouseListener mouseListener = new MyMouseAdapter();
          btn.addMouseListener(mouseListener);
       private static class MyMouseAdapter extends MouseAdapter
           * {@inheritDoc}
          public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e)
             JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Button clicked");
       public static void main(String... args)
          SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable()
             public void run()
                JFrame frame = new JFrame("Testing");
                JPanel panel = new PanelButtonArmedFrameClick();
                frame.getContentPane().add(panel);
                frame.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(500, 500));
                frame.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(500, 500));
                frame.pack();
                frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
                frame.setVisible(true);
    }

    Sure this is not a bug and this is the behavior of mouseClickedEvent.
    mouse clicked = mouse pressed + mouse released.
    mouseClickedEvent is a combination of mousePressed and mouseReleased evenst which are generated at the same pixel location. So if you generate mousePressed and mouseReleased events at different locations you will not get mouseClicked event.
    Thats why you are not getting mouse clicked event when you are performing mouse pressed event on one place and mouse released event on another place.

  • How to take input in one frame and display it in other frame of  same page?

    I need to take input (text) for the comment field in one of the frames and when submit button is pressed it should be displayed in the other frame on the same page.
    I am able to get the input from the user but its not reflected in the other frame which basically is a table...............so let me know if you guys have any suggestions
    I used following code
    <form name="input" action="<%= base_url %>/index.jsp?yr=<%= y %>&mon=<%= m %>&day=<%= d %>" method="post">
    Comment:
    <input type="text" name="comment" size="20"/>

    The trick is to define paintComponent to all applicable panels and pass the Graphics parameter to a separate method which does the drawing for you.
    class Component1 extends JPanel
       //blah blah blah - put your code here
       public void paintComponent(Graphics g)
          //insert setup functions here
          paintStuff(g);
       //more arbitary code
       public void paintStuff(Graphics g)
          //do your drawing here
    }And you would usually want to separate your UI components from the drawing so it doesn't intefere with the client's perception of the program. In other words, don't draw on the content pane, draw on a custom panel and add it to an appropriate part of the content pane.

  • How to zoom and pan with FCP

    Hi,
    I am trying to create some artificial zooming with FCP. I do this by setting key frames in the motion tab, although I want to take things a step further and pan into the new zoomed shot.
    When I just move the wireframe to the new position, it gives the desired result at the end of the clip, but of course, then I play from the beginning, the clip is no longer zoomed in and as the clip is off center, there is black around the edges.
    How do I key-frame this move?
    For more clarity, basically I am zooming into an interview, but when I zoom to the desired level (in this case scale to 140 - I am using 720x1080 HD footage from the EX1 35mbs, so it hopefully keep it's quality even at that scale) - when I am at full zoom, the clients head is cut off by the top of the picture because the zoom is zooming into the center of the picture.

    Is this a video shot that you are using?
    any time you move the center point, you have to adjust the scale correspondingly.

  • There is a lot of hang time opening and during the running of firefox. I only had 4 tabes open and it just hangs at different intrivals. It is really annoying.

    Hang time for Firefox 16 every time I open the browser it hangs. Then it hangs intermittently while i am trying to work. It does this about 5 to 6 times during my work load. It only has 4 pages opened up. I normally like using firefox. However I am a tech and I push the limits of my laptop and my browsers. With Opera I have at least 20 tabs opened and when i re-open it it take less time for it to come up then it does firefox. All 20 pages are up and running while i am still waiting on firefox to get unstuck. I have gone into the settings and have tried to reset things. How am I supposed to do that when I can't even get the browser to respond because it is hanging there. I have to force close. I can't even get into the settings because once I do, It hangs and then the settings page is just sitting there for ever. I sat for 20 mins with it hanging just because I wanted to see just how long it was going to keep doing it. I have an AMD vision processor and using windows 7. with 4g ram. so what do you suggest. I like many of the features that firefox offers.....and have been a user for years...I would like this looked into please.

    The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
    Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
    To Reset Firefox do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
    #Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
    #Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
    Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • I am showing 9 tabs open and I cannot access other websites (they are grayed out when I clock on them).  How do I close tabs?

    I was working on calendar and opened too many tabs.  I am showing 9 tabs open and it affects other sebsites I am now trying to access.  The webpage is grayed out and non-accessible.  I do not need all the tabs.  How do I close them?

    Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
    If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
