Cache memory error
here is the hardware:
k8t neo-fis2r ms-6702, rev 1.0
latest ami bios version 6702ms.193
amd 64 3400+
kingston khx4000/512 hyperx ddr pc-4000, memory
msi fx5900-vtd256, geforce fx 5900, video card
antec sonata 380 watt case
zalman cnps7000a, cpu cooler
western digital rapter 74gb sata, hard drive
problem is at end of boot up error message "cache memory error"
system will not load windows xp pro.
system bios does not show hard drive.
can use floopy to boot into dos
have changed out cpu, same problem.
have changed out mother board, same problem.
have changed out ram, same problem.
at end of boot screen shows nvram and amount correctly.
have tried disabling system bios cacheable, shadow ram, etc. still same problem.
if the cache memory error can be remedied believe it possible system
will then recognize the hard drive in the bios section, which currently only reports the cdrom drive but not the hard drive.
any ideas? Thanks for any help.
Hi Patrick
Sorry, looked again and see its SATA. No jumper on SATA.
You will not see a SATA in normal post screens, you have to enable it in bios, either Via or Promise, I prefer Via. In Integrated peripherals, look at page 3- 20 of manual, there is an item SATA IDE, that is Via controller, enable that. Above it is PATA IDE, the IDE1 and 2 controller, enable that. Below it the floppy disk controller, enable it (not auto). Then go up to Onboard PCI controller, click on it, then the P20378 SATA controller, the promise controller, disable it. Check the LAN and onboard sound the AC97 controller, is enabled if you use it. The 1394 controller, the firewire for digital cameras etc. Now go to the advanced bios features, the Boot Sequence, set it to floppy, CD, and Serial CH_0 (SATA 1 on via). Enable Boot from other devices, and enable floppy seek, (floppy swap is disabled). Then exit and save.
You can now out your XP CD in CD drive and boot, it will ask you to press key to boot from CD, the first blue setup screen, will ask you to press F^ to load drivers, then a couple of mins later it arrives at S screen, put Via floppy in drive A, press enter, this will give list of files, select BOTH XP drivers ( you need to load 1, then back to S screen repeat for 2nd driver, then enter to proceed, next the F* ' accept ' screen, then load windows setup, then it asks if you want to install to drive. partition, format and install.
In the bios screens your HDD will show as Via device called Serial CH_0 or Serial CH_1 (SATA2), which appear after the other drive screens. If the promise controller is enabled, but no drive attached to SER1 or 2, then you will see a message ' Bios not installed'
Any problems, there should be none, let me know.
cheers
jocko

Cache Memory Allocator \ Short Term Memory Allocator Issues
Hi all
I have a number of identically configured (High School) Servers which are giving me the same memory errors (some more frequently than others) and I've run out of ideas.
They are all HP Proliant DL360 G6 Servers, NetWare 6.5 sp8 with eDir 8.8 sp5.
The error messages are :
"Cache memory allocator out of available memory." followed by "Short term memory allocator is out of memory. xxx attempts to get more memory failed. request size in bytes xxxxxxxx from Module SWEEP.NLM"
The module referred to is always "SWEEP.NLM" (Sophos Anti-virus). A Server reset solves the problem but it is normally back within a month.
I've posted below a config.txt and segstats.txt from one of the servers.
I would be grateful if someone could help me with this as it's now becoming a 'headache'.
Cheers
Neil Hughes

Somewhat. From the time of day, and the loading of commvault modules
inbetween, this looks like a combined backup / AV scan issue. The
requests of Sophos are comparably big in size, and they vary a lot. That
will lead to fragmentation of your memory, until the memory can't be
allocated in one chunk any more. It also *seems* as if Sophos actually
scans the data while it gets backed up. That is *bad*.

"There was not enough memory" error message when saving DNG and Jpeg
PC/Windows XP Pro. Pentium 4/2Gb RAM.
I am constantly getting memory errors when trying to save batches of images from ACR4 either as Jpegs or DNGs.
A couple of images in to the batch a small window appears with a list of the files and next to each of them is the line: "There was not enough memory."
These are 220Mb TIFF files that are processed in Hasselblad's Flexcolor on the same computer. I can process an entire folder full (sometimes 50 images) without a hitch in Flexcolor, but Bridge/ACR4 and CS3 can't handle any reasonable number of images.
Could it be something in my settings? For the record, they are:
In Bridge, under Edit/Preferences/Camera RAW preferences, Camera Raw Cache is set to 10Gb. Jpeg and Tiff handling boxes are both ticked.
Under Edit/Preferences/Cache, Cache Size slider is slightly over half way to the right.
In addition, I have CS3 pointed to a formatted 500GB scratch disk all to itself.
And CS3's RAM is set to 80%.
Finally, this computer is used for nothing else except image editing.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
D.Thomas,
Thanks for the reply.
If you mean by "Public Beta", did I download the 10.4Mb plug-in (as per John Cornicello's link above) and install it at Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats in place of the old plug-in, then yes.
I always run ACR4 via Bridge, never via CS3. CS3 always comes after conversion in my workflow. Also, I like to give Bridge/ACR a free run of available resources. Nothing else is ever open when I'm running them.
In CS3 under Edit/Preferences/File Handling, under Image Previews I selected 'Never Save'. Not sure if this affects ACR though.
Also, as per the suggestion in the article referred to in my last post, I removed the tilde ~ to activate the Bigger Tiles plug-in. CS3's memory % is now set @ 90%.
The only thing I haven't done is to activate the Microsoft 3Gb switch. I can't find instructions that are clear enough. Also, it may be that it makes no difference when running Vista 64bit, as I am.
For what it's worth, with these fine tunings, CS3 now executes the Retouch Artist's Speedtest in 20 seconds, a shade faster than before. This is extremely fast, so my setup should not be the problem here. I hope! ;-)
Finally, is there any point in trying LR? Or is its file saving/cache setup the same as ACR's?
Thanks for taking an interest in my case. I'm very happy to be a guinea pig since I will constantly have to process large numbers of files and I'd like to overcome this problem
Many thanks.

Uploading large files from applet to servlet throws out of memory error
I have a java applet that needs to upload files from a client machine
to a web server using a servlet. the problem i am having is that in
the current scheme, files larger than 17-20MB throw an out of memory
error. is there any way we can get around this problem? i will post
the client and server side code for reference.
Client Side Code:

// to server. This client connects to a servlet running on the server

The workaround is to use a socket connection and send your own request headers, with the content length filled in. You may have to multi-part mime encode the stream on its way out as well (I'm not about that...).
You can use the following:
http://porsche.cis.udel.edu:8080/cis479/lectures/slides-04/slide-02.html
on your server to get a feel for the format that the request headers need to take.

I get the out of Memory Error on the client side. I
was told that this might be a bug in the URLConnection
class implementation that basically it wont know the
content length until all the data has been written to
the output stream, so it uses an in memory buffer to
store the data which basically causes memory issues..
do you think there might be a workaround of any kind..
or maybe a way that the buffer might be flushed after
a certain size of file has been uploaded.. ?? do you
have any ideas? -
Indesign cs5.5 out of memory error
Hi,
I am having constant problems with out of memory errors in indesign cs5.5 (version 7.5.3). I am on a mac. Everything is up to date, I have preflight off, my display performance is on typical view and have tried restarted my computer multiple times. I do not have any other programs open and the document I have open is 3 pages (8.5x11) with little content and a couple links to small images. I do not know what to do! This is affecting my job and my performance!! Please help!!! Thank you!close the application
Rename the preferences from the following location
/Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version #
/Users/[User Name]/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version [#]
then open a new document and then open the document you are facing an issue with it should clear the memory issue temporally
Alternate :
copy and paste the content in a new document and check if the 1st option does not work
PS : changing the folder name would reset the preferences
refer to KB : InDesign preferences and support file locations -
Out of memory error in IBM JVM
Hi i am using websphere application server's dyna cache for getting performance optimiztion in my application.
I am able to load values into the cache using the command cache api in the dyna cache.When i clear the cache for loading another set of values the cache gets cleared but still ,while loading the second set of values i get an out of memory error
The dynacache is an distributed map
i want to know whether the error is due to improper garbage collection
on this map,if so help me to overcome this
The JVM configuration are as follows
Min 256mb
Max 768mb
I have a total of 1Gb ramMaybe your program's memory usage is rubbing against the upper limit, and something about the latest JVM caused it to break through.
Try using the command line parameter -mx500m (for 500 megs or whatever amount you neeed) -
How can I solve out of memory error on excell file in PL/SQL
Hi,
I'm new on PL/SQL. One of the PL/SQL code which is created excell report got out of Memory error. The first reason of this error, excell file not supported more than 65536 data. So I change the excell file separeted sheets. So that the single sheet size cannot exceed 65536 data.
All the data are held on system cach and if many user want to take the report the they would get an out of memory error.
So I want to change the code like that; when out of memory exception raises,
the old excell file save to disk and new excell file is created,
and go on to write the new file without exiting the program.
At the end of the data all the excell file append and show only one file to the user.
I do know how to save the file and create a new file. But I don't know how can PL/SQL program to turn back to loop again when the exception occurs.
Is anyone help me on this issue?
Here is my code
Thank you
dworkbook:=hssfworkbook.new;
dCurrentItem := Get_Block_Property(pCurrentBlock, FIRST_ITEM);
while not (name_in('system.last_record')='TRUE') loop
/* The data would be written to the excell file column order. */
if (dRow=0) then
/* Create a new sheet */
elsif (dRow <= dMaxWorksheetNum) then
/* Data of the report are written here. The data are written in column order */
if (dRow > dMaxWorksheetNum) then
/* give dRow and dColumn intial value */
/* increase worksheet number */
end if; /* End of if (dRow=1) */
if (isWritten) and not name_in('system.last_record')='TRUE'then
/* if not at the end of the record and the previously read record is written to the file
, then go to next record */
next_record;
end if;
/* save excell report */
workbookwriter.save(dworkbook,global.gethome||dFileName);
web.show_document('/users/'||dFileName,'_BLANK');

nullIt turns out that the problem I was having with a large number of
shell processes being created was due to the use of oraenv in my
.bashrc file (so much for following the instructions!) It was
calling itself recursively until the process limit was reached.
However, even with this fixed, the out of memory error still
exists.

Command line interface to "code cache" memory pool utilization
I need to monitor the usage of the "code cache" memory pool through a command-line interface, but it doesn't seem to me that the jstat tool is able to give me any information about this particular memory pool. Are there any other tools that is able to give me the details I need? I'm using both JDK 5 and 6.

Out of memory error, while using Adobe InDesign
I have been running Adobe inDesign for a couple of years with no problems. This is the first time I got a, "Out of memory" error when attempting to save the document as a PDF.
Windows 7, Dell Studio XPS, 2.80 GHz Processor, Memory: 9 GB Dram, Hard Drive: 1.5 TB, 1.56 MB cache.
Firefox v33.02
What should I do to get back the memory?
Thank you,
Don SchaafHi Don, is this an Adobe site you are using in a Firefox tab, or the stand-alone InDesign application?
If it's in the application, you may want to try Adobe's forum. You also could try closing other open applications to have them release memory and then try creating the PDF again.
Please note that if Firefox has been running for a long time and is using a lot of memory, it may take several minutes to release it all, as various files are (slowly) updated at shutdown. You can monitor its progress in the Windows Task Manager on the Process tab. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Task Manager, and then click the processes tab. Firefox will be listed under firefox.exe here. Please allow it to shut down normally instead of using the End Process button, unless it appears to hang (no movement in the amount of memory used for several minutes). -
Low Memory or Out of Memory errors in Bridge CS4
I don't recall the specific errors off the top of my head, but I know there have been several times where Bridge throws a memory related error. (Not anything with hex codes, just saying it's out of memory or low.) Sometimes this actually affects Bridge negatively and sometimes not. When it does, previews tend to not load.
All I know is that I have PLENTY of RAM available. I'm running Vista x64 with 8GB memory and not running enough other applications to soak up all of my available RAM. (Opera, Chrome, tightVNC, and newly opened PS w/ nothing loaded.)
I realize I'm writing this thread with limited questions, but I guess I mainly want to know if there's a memory threshold that I can increase like in PS. (You know, where you can tell it to use XX% of RAM.)
Most of my workflow consists of reviewing folders full of 3500-5000 RAW files (Canon 5D mkII) and sometimes taking them into ACR for further work. I also review 1000-1500 jpegs after the fact. It seems I can get a memory error regardless of what batch I'm working on. Does Bridge just do a very bad job of clearing it's own memory? (So if I'm browsing several folders during a session, I need to restart at one point?)
FYI - I have a folder of 1940 jpegs loaded right now and Bridge's memory footprint is just under 900MB. After closing and reopening Bridge, the footprint is down to 400MB.
Thanks in advance for any input!

Then purge your cache(s) and let them rebuild. With thousands of images, it make take some time!

I recently purchased the CS3 Master Suite. Am running Encore 3.0.1.008. Have a dual core with 2 gigs, Vista.
Built a medium size movie with a 70 clips, 14 timelines, and 14 menus. Everything linked nicely, check project finds no errors. Projected size of result on DVD: 3.003 Gigs.
Invoke build. Transcoder begins. Fails on second clip. Out of Memory Error.
Checked forums. Note existent of these problems going back many months. Tried various suggestions. Cleared media cache. Rebooted, reentered, restarted. Same result.
Also came across warning about 2 gig memory limit. However, note that many, many programs are written with input and output sizes much larger than resident memory. This is a CS101 design issue.
Because I was obligated to make a release to a client base with high expectations, I scaled back the project to an embarrassingly small size.
I would call it a demo size as opposed to an acceptable project size.
Of course, I needed to start from scratch. All attempts to prune the original project to smaller and smaller sizes failed (even with media cache clearing, rebooting). A project with 1 menu and 2 video clips did build.
My conclusion from this experience is that Encore was designed and tested to meet alpha-release demo standards. There is the well deserved expectation with other Adobe products: PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, etc, that production standards can be achieved.
My forum reading suggests that Encore has been in this crippled state for months, perhaps years. My question is, when can we expect a fix? There are plenty of software engineers out there who could bring this up to Photoshop standards.
I spent $2500 on the Master Suite with the expectation that I could do production work, not serve as unpaid QA for Adobe.When I try to build a DVD this error appears
The instruction at 0x007fa94c referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
What can i do to fix this problem or to build my DVD..? -

Any suggestions?Try disabling the Aeros theme by selecting one of the Windows Classis Themes under desktop customization. This seemed to fix the problem for me.

Getting Virtual Memory Error in 4i Viewer/Plus

Never had a problem before. But just in the last two weeks, PPCC crashes with this low on memory error. The PC itself still runs like a speed demon on everything else but PPCC.
Checked for hard drive and cache issues, everything I could think of. It is not the PC. I may need to check settings on PPCC itself. Maybe something odd happened.
Anyone who is good at this stuff, your help would be appreciated.

How could I get my iPad out of recovery mode without deleting all its data?
