Cache query in Portal

Hi,
I am facing issue on caching for query in portal in Production. I have query called ABC in production with variable Master valid on for user to chooce the date. This varible is hardcoded value in General Precalculation in variable assigment session. Eg. If i run OLAP Cache today then it will hardcoded to 18.9.2008. I cannot change the production query to set to System current date unless I use new technical name for any changes eg XYZ.
Can i use different technical name for query in portal eg. XYZ in order to capture master valid default to today date ? I will do Broadcaster - OLA Cache for xyz and does it also cache for ABC (query in portal)
The purpose of caching is to happen to query in portal. Please advise.

Hi,
Then looks like a problem with their user roles. Try to do the Root Cause. Meantime copy thier roles to new ones or change them slightly so they work.
Cheers,
Kedar

name_in gets the value of the item. So you should use copy.
    copy('',:system.current_block||'.'||:system.current_item)

  • How to clear the cache in the portal browser

    Hello Experts,
Iam unable to clear the cache in the portal. I tried  clearing the Navigation cache , PRT cache,PCD cache,Database cache,UME cache.
The senario is in the browser if iam logging with some user X , he should see only 1,2,3 countries, and if i logg off and again logg in the same browser with different user he is seeing same 1,2,3 countries unlike he should see 4,5 countries.
But if iam opening in different browser iam getting the correct one with cache cleared.
I want to acheive this in the same browser.
Qucik help in solving out this cache problem is appreciable.
    Regrds,
    Manasa.

There is one more important cache: the HTTP Provider Service cache (in VA).
To find out why the browser is showing the same languages, analyze what the server is sending to the browser with HTTPWatch or Firebug and look at the cache flag. Also check what is the iView cache parameter? Is it user, session, shared or none?
How do you do the logoff? The best thing is to make sure that the HTTP Session is killed. If not, the portal may send data that is cached for the HTTP Session to the browser. When you open a new browser, you will also open a new HTTP Session. That could be the cause why it is working with a new browser instance.

  • Query in Portal User-Language-Independent

    Hi all
    Query and Portal: NW04S
We have some users with different language as Query language.
So the result is, when a query is developed in german and a user has default language english the query components are shown in technical values.
We don't want to translate the query in english
We don't want to change the users language to german
So my idea was to change the query iview with the parameter "sap-language=DE", but this doesn't have an affect either in iview-Properties "Query-String BEx Web Application" nor in "Parameter forwarded to BEx Web Application"
How can I solve this problem, so the bex-query is always shown in german.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

  • Caching Query Issues?

I have a test(on the server) and a development(localhost) sites so is the oracle database schemas.  Both Oracle database schemas reside on the same server. I have the same datasource name for both schemas in the CF Administrators (local and server). For some reason, it seems to me that the data being pulled only from the test environment database eventhough I run the code on the development(localhost).  I cleared the cache on the CF administrator.   Any advise would be great.  Thanks.

    Soumen Mondal,
If you are facing this problem from the same client PC and in the same session, it's very strange.. but if there are two sessions running on the same PC this kind of issue may come..
    Something about caching:
To decide whether to cache a query or not, consider the number of times you intend to run the query in a minute. For data changing in seconds, and queried in minutes, I would recommend not to cache query at all.
I may give a typical example for query caching in a query on material master cached for 24 hours, where we know that after creating material master, we are not creating a PO on the same day.

  • Issue with Broadcasting and Publish query to Portal from query Designer

    Dear all,
I have created a standard template ZWT_STANDARD_TEMPLATE in WAD and I have added this for Adhoc Analysis in 'Set Standard Web templated' RSCUSTV27.
For Broadcasting I have added 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE70.
I have problems with my broadcasting as well as publishing the Query in Portal.
When I use a Broadcast to Email - it opens a new window with my standard template(ZWT_STANDARD_TEMPLATE ) I have added. No data though.
Same thing happens for publishing too...When I publish the query to portal from Query Designer or WAD it takes me to the same window with my standard web template. No data though.
I think both are related to the same issue. Its with broadcasting.
What is the default template for Broadcasting in NW2004s? Below is the url I have included when I do it from Query designer. Its actually starting the Command - START_BROADCASTER70 but I dont know if it has to do a SOURCE_QUERY=ZCOPA_C03_FAST_PAYABLES. Could anyone compare it with your urls

This is the url for publishing from WAD

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Hi KK,
Did you solve your problem, i am also having the same issue. Please let me know if you have solved this issue.

  • How create iview  for a bw query in portal

How to create a iview for a BW Query.
Using a Standard templete in WAD integrated a BW Query to a templete in WAD.
Now i want to create a iview for that templete.
    In Portal>Portal Content>Create Iveiw
    It is showing me options
    IVIEW TEMPLETE
    PORTAL COMPONENT
    WEB DYBPRO
Please update me step by step procedure on how to create a iview for a bw query in portal
    Thanks

    Hi
    Integrate EP to BI
    1. You have to create a BW system in portal.
    2. create a SAP BW Report iView from the iview templates available
    3. specify the query string in the iview properties
Check out the links for the procedure

  • Webdynpro ABAP Caching Problem in Portal

    Hi All,
We have developed custom applications using Webdynpro - ABAP, using FPM and accessing those applications through SAP Netweaver Portal 7.0. I have deactivated all the caching techniquies in Portal @ iview level and Page level, Portal Runtime and ContentFetch side, But still causing the same problem.
I have a doubt, wether this is happening because of SAP Logon Caching @ SAP WAS system level. I have checked the SSO parameter settings in RZ10 Profile parameters. Our basis people have set both accept and create parameter value = 1. Is this causing issue?
Or Is there any other settings which is required to do in Portal or SAP system level. Please let us know , really appreciate your value suggestions and help.
Please find the below links, which im referring to...

The delete icon will not show up in the line of the favorite/templates, if no hours are recorded on it. There is no transfer to the backend either, unless hours are recorded on these working time attributes. also ensure note 1986356 is implemented for details column check CAC2 for the CATS profile attached to the user in CVR in Su3

  • Cannot query using both conforming and cached query result

TopLink doesn't allow me to both use conforming and cached query result at the same time.
Conforming is certainly not a superset of the [cached query result] features.
Can you confirm that it's a limitation of TopLink?
Any know workaround to end-up with the same features as using both conforming and cached query result?
Conforming is about seeing modifications you do in the same transaction. As a bonus, if you query for one object and specify at least the id as criteria because TopLink will have to check in memory anyway it can avoid going to the database.
But if I do a query like "give me employees hired before now and after 30 days ago" it's about more than one objects and about finding existance so cached query result is needed to get acceptable performance in a complex application trying to avoid the same SQL generated over and over again.

Thats where the trace just ends? It doesnt look like there's any LIKE or filtering going on (with respect to the Oracle pieces anyway), apparently MSAccess simply requested the whole table.
What do you mean by 'hang' exactly? Are you sure it's just not taking a long time to complete? How long have you waited? How fast does it complete on the other environment?
ODBC tracing isnt likely to help much for that. SQLNet tracing would be better to see what is going on at a lower level. Specifically, what is going on at the network level? Is the client waiting for a packet to be returned from the database?
Is the database having a hard time processing the query, perhaps due to index/tuning issues?
Assuming that is indeed the query that is "hung", how much data does that return?
Are you able to reproduce the same behavior with that query and vbscript for example?

i'm trying to publish a Query on Portal. Once on the Content Administration i see some folders and roles, if I right click on a folder i can successfully create an iView with the query on it but i still can't see it on the Portal (there's already an iView on the folder and i do see it on Portal, my new created iView is just next to it but i can't see that one).
Do i need to add the iView on a role or something ? how can i do that ?
    thx in advance

On Portal Content Admin.. double click on the Role to publish on, select folder on Role, right click on the iView (on the content frame) select Publish on role -> Delta link.

  • How to publish query to Portal? How do i create a Portal folder in PCD.

    Hi,
When I publish a query to portal, I have to select a folder in the PCD root folder. But there is no folder to select. Where and how do i create this folder in portal?
    Thanks,
    KC
Edited by: KC on Feb 26, 2010 4:29 AM

this will be done in content administration.. first you have to create folders in that and MySAP roles has to be created for that...
once you publish the report under the folders, you have to add the published report by right clicking the folder and you will get a option to add.
    Hope this would help you.

  • How to integerate BEx query with Portal (Java)

    Hi folks,
I installed SAP Netweaver 2004s Sneak Preview ABAP+JAVA , Stack 9 for Linux with VMWare test drive. I have configured and enabled BW/BI  in Netweaver. I have also configured SLD and its Status is "running" in J2EE engine.
I designed one simple BI application through Tcode: RSA1, and then created Query for data analysis thruogh Query Designer. How can I establish the link between AS ABAP with AS JAVA to publish the query on portal. I want to use BEx Report designer and Web Application Designer, but I can't execute the result on the portal from these designer tools.
Do I need to create RFC destination on both sides ABAP and JAVA, but how , anyone can give an example for the required procudure.
    thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks all of you, Venkatramani Hariharan  , with the help of your given link I am able to to apply the part of the configuration from the document as described by the writer.
But on Step No. 6 : Step 6: Import BW Certificate to the Portal
    Under Step 6:
I succeeded to complete first 6 steps but from step 7 , author guided me to continue in Visual Administrator and choose <SID>/Server<#>/Services/Security Provider
    - Under Component, choose Ticket.
    - Choose the Authentication tab page.
    - Change the options for com.sap.security.core.server.jaas.EvaluateTicketLoginModule and enter the following values:
    like
    trustedsys<Number>=<BW_SID>, <BW_CLIENT> (for example, BWP, 000)
    u2022
    trustediss<Number>=<ISSUER_DISTINGUISHED_NAME> (z. B. CN= BWP, OU=SAP Web AS, O=SAP Trust Community, C=DE)
    u2022
    trusteddn<Number>=<SUBJECT_DISTINGUISHED_NAME> (z. B. CN= BWP, OU=SAP Web AS, O=SAP Trust Community, C=DE)
But in the window all the modification button(s) are disbale like "Modify", "Remove", "Add New".
So, Is there any way to make those enable to apply the changes. Please help me in this context.
    thanks

  • cache-query-results question

I have another post for general descriptor tag information but I do have a specific question. In a project I am looking at I see:
<cache-usage> check cache by primary key </cache-usage>
    <cache-query-results>false</cache-query-results>
    <maintain-cache>true</maintain-cache>
I'm not sure how to interpret this. Does this mean that a cache is in place or not? cache-query-rests is set to false which implies no caching, yet the other parameters imply a cache is in place. What overrides here?
    Thanks

The XML maps directly to the API so the JavaDocs and related documentation are the best tools:
    cache-usage: query.setCacheUsage(int)
This option indicates how the object cache should be used when processing the query. This is how in-memory query is configured as well as support for cache-hits on ReadObjectQuery.
    cache-query-result: query.setShouldCacheQueryResults(boolean)
This option allows you to indicate that the results returned from the query execution should be held. When the query is executed again these results will be returned without going to the database or searching the object cache. This is just caching the results locally within the query.
    maintain-cache: query.maintainCache() or query.dontMaintainCache()
This setting determines if the results returned from the query should be cached in the shared object cache. It is on by default and turning this off is very rare. Occasionally done to compare the cache version with the database verision when handling an optimistic locking failure.

  • Inserting a Query into Portal

    Hi All,
For the First time i got a chance to work on portal.
Now i need to insert a query into portal..Before that i want to know the whole process.
I have searched in SDN for this creteria...but found some different answers and i got bit confussed.
So requesting all to let me know the whole procedure that means
1.what are the settings to be done to execute the report through portal(Required Installations....etc)
2.How to insert a query into portal....
if any document is there which gives fundamental idea about portal and inserting query into portal , Please share with me.
    regards
    Saha

    Hi Saha,
If you are executing queries on portal from role menu then in this case you need to change the URL of report in menu role. This can be done using transaction PFCG. Here you need to maintain the URL format which will point to the Java stack in portal.
if you are executing the reports on portal by clicking on the Infoarea where you can select queries by infoprovider, you need not to do any setting.
To execute report on portal you will need to have Business Intelligence role on portal.
