Calculated column doesn't expand the items in list view

Dear All,
          I have a calculated column
Week with formula, =INT((DAY([Start Time])+6)/7)
in one of my lists. I'm displaying a view of this list in a SharePoint page, group by column Year and column
Week. But when the page is loaded with items, I'm only able to expand the list view up to
Year column level. When I click on Week section it doesn't show / expand the items under it.
Further more when I use a different calculated column with a function like (=TEXT(Date,"yyyy")) I don't get above error.
Any Idea?
Thanks,
Dilip

Hi Dilip,
According to your description, an issue occurs when you try to expand the subgroups in a list contains Calculated column.
It is an known issue in SharePoint 2013, there are some workarounds I can provide as below:
As the first workaround, you can set the groupings to expanded by default, though it would make the grouping collapsed by default, then the grouping would function
normal.
As the second workaround, you can create a SharePoint Designer Workflow and add a “Do Calculation” action to calculate the value you needed. Then add a “Update List
Item” action to add the value to a “Single line of text” column. We will use the “Single line of text” column in the grouping instead of the Calculated column.
As the third workaround, you can install the latest update of SharePoint to fix the issue for new Document Libraries. For the existing libraries, after the installing
the update, you can use PowerShell to make an update to each item in the library, it will make the old items get normal in the grouping.
About how to update list items in a list/library using PowerShell, a demo as below for your reference:
$web = Get-SPWeb http://YourServer/
$list = $web.Lists["list name"]
foreach ($item in $list.Items)
$item.SystemUpdate();

I have both a Yoga and a Thinkpad 2. The Yoga is running Win 8 and the Thinkpad 2 has 8.1 Preview.
I have copied multiple video files which are in either .avi or .mp4 containers.
Some will play and some will not. I have installed all sorts of codec packages and players and the problem is the same. I though it might be a container problem so I tried to convert the file and the converter I used did not work.
Searched the Internet and nothing really useful was found.
Then I discovered a common thread. In the files that played, the codec information displayed when checking in properties and the ones that did not play, did not have the information.
I have a video file on a USB flash drive and checked the properties and the information was there and I could play it from the flash drive. I copied it to my desktop and the file would not play. In checking, the codec information was not present.
There seems to be an error in copying files where the requisite codec information is not being transferred.
I have tried this multiple times and multiple permutations of transferring. Sometimes it will play from the desktop and will not play after transfer to the microSD card.
Each time when it plays, the information is there and each time it does not play, the information is not there.

The problem is the period at the end. This system assumes it
to be part of the url. I should have put a space and the end of the
url before using a period to close the sentence. try this one:

Please note that just the home page and supporting files have

  • After adding list view into the web part page, the items and list control ribbon is not activated.

I created new webpart page and added one list view web part into the page.
However I can see the ITEMS and LIST tabs on ribbon area, but all the buttons are deactivated.
Do I have to activate any feature for this or any settings are needed for the webpart?
I already have full permission for this site.
For your easy understand I added the screenshot.

    Thanks for you advice.
However I am currently using the context menu and edit link in the view.
My Client keep complaining about the ribbon is not activated even thought it works fine in the SharePoint 2010.

  • How do I change the way the item are listed in stacks

How do I change the way the item are listed in stacks?
    Thanks
    Joel Simkhai

    Hello Joel,
You have some choices available by clicking and holding on the stack for a second, and there are five sorting orders to choose from.
I picked up a tip to create an empty folder and place it in the stack, give it a fancy icon and name it 0. Then by choosing the sort order as name, that fancy icon is always at the front.

  • Can I customize the standard columns for the search results (list view) specifically?

When searching for emails I would like to adjust the columns in the search results list view, e.g. add the sender's address. This I would like to save as standard columns specifically for the search results list view, since in other contexts I do not need it. However, I can only set standard columns for existing folders, not for the context of "search results".

    re :When searching for emails
    what method are you using?
Are you talking about 'Quick filter' or 'Global Search' or via 'Edit' > 'Find' > 'Search Messages' ?
'''If you used the Global Search:'''
Typed in a word: eg: Birthday and selected 'Messages mentioning birthday'
Then a search is returned in a new tab.
You click on 'open email as list' - to open in a new tab.
Is this the search results list view that you are refering to?
    the default columns should be:
    From, Subject, Date, Location
If you only want to see eg: From and Date
click on the icon 'select columns to display' located to far right of header column name.
    deselect Subject and Location
next time you run a global search then only those columns appear in the 'open email as list' view.
'''If via 'Edit' > 'Find' > 'Search Messages' ?'''
enter search parameters and click on 'Search'
Is this the search results list view that you are refering to?
    the default columns should be:
    From, Subject, Date, Location
Subject and Location cannot be edited.
Other column headers can be selected in the same way using the far right 'Select columns to display' icon.
Any column headers you select will not be remembered if you close and later peform another search.
If you click on 'Save as Search folder'
This will create a folder in your Folder Pane and you can select column(s) you wish to display.
Any Column headers you choose to display are selected for that saved search folder.
The column headers only change if you select to reset defaults on that folder or from another folder you select to apply to other folders for either the search folder or all folders in the account.
    '''If using Quick Filter:'''
The QuickFilter type of search is done on the folder that is selected.
You are still in the same folder, it has simply ''filtered'' what it is displaying, so it will obviously still display the same column headers.

  • Is it possible in iTunes 11 to get the old album list view, with covers and track listings like in 10?

Is it possible in iTunes 11 to get the old album list view, with covers and track listings like in 10?
If not, then to me that is a huge retrograde step

No, the old album list view is not an option in iTunes 11...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
If you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

Pardon me for a moment while I (politely) rant in your general direction...
This type of response is not just unhelpful—it is the antithesis of helpful.
This is a support forum. Its purpose is helping to resolve people's problems. Sometimes those problems are going to require long explanations or lots of information. That either comes out in the original post or over the course of several back-and-forth replies; the former produces long posts but takes less time overall than the latter.
If you don't have the patience to read through a long post, then just move on. Posting a "too long, didn't read" comment adds nothing beneficial to anyone. All it does is reveal that the person who made that comment thinks it's important to tell everyone that their attention span is too short for anything longer than a tweet.
Yes, my post was long. Had you read it, you might have understood why it's so long. I'm trying to provide information that people searching these forums about this problem might find helpful. I did this because when I searched for info on this problem, I found lots of people with a similar problem, but no answers that went beyond "restore from backup". Since that advice wasn't the solution for me, I decided that more information might prompt someone with more knowledge and access than I have to investigate. Since you couldn't be bothered to read it, you clearly aren't the kind of person whose attention I was hoping to catch.
Certainly I could have made the post shorter, but I think putting it into a narrative like this makes it easier to follow and provides a context that a terse recitation of bare facts does not. If you disagree, that's your prerogative, but please don't waste everyone else's time by posting a comment just to say that you didn't read it.
I find it appalling that someone who's able to reach Level 6 on these support forums would post a "tldr" comment. That does not reflect positively on you or these forums.
    End of rant.

  • How do I get the reminders, in list view, to display in date order?

How do I get the reminders, in list view, to display in date order? I can't seem to get them to display in date order on either my ipad or iphone.
Yes i know I can look at date view, but i don't like that view. I excepted the list view to display all reminders in date order.
    Thanks!

You need to create a stringwriter, wrap it in a printwriter, then print to the printwriter, then convert the stringwriter to a string.
    Here's an example:
    StringWriter sw = new java.io.StringWriter();
    PrintWriter pw = new java.io.PrintWriter(sw);
    e.printStackTrace(pw);
    String strError = sw.toString();
I hope this works. I didn't test the above code. I don't think I'm leaving anything out, but it's been a while since I've done it. Either way, it should get you on the right track to get what you need.
    Hope that helps.

  • Expanding the "open in" list on ipad is it possible?

This is a big problem in my workflow and I think it has probably affected quite a few peoples experience with the ipad and possibly other IOS devices.
When a file is open and you need to transfer it to another app using the "open in" function pulls up a list of apps that can accept that file type.  THe problem is that the list is limited to only 10 apps.  Having purchased several apps that are useful in different circumstances for manipulating, annotating, reading, sharing or printing pdf files the number of apps I own are greater than 10.
There is no way to edit this list that I have found aside from randomly deleting apps until the one that I would like to use appears on the list.  This is frustrating and requires me to no longer use apps that I have purchased.
One other fix that I have heard of is deleting the ibooks app to expand this list to greater than 10 apps possibly including all apps that open that file type.  I have as of yet not tried this as I have several books and papers in the ibooks app and deleting it would be a big hassle.
Has anyone tried this possible solution?  If so did it work?
I was hoping that Apple would fix it in ios updates but it appears to still be a problem even after the latest ios 5.1 update.
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated

I just tested out deleting ibooks on my iphone.  It is running ios5.1 and it appears that deleting the ibooks app successfully expanded the list of apps to include all of the apps that can handle the pdf file type.  The "open in" list now has greater than 10 available apps.  Too bad I had to delete ibooks to acheive this.
Wondering if this same action will resolve problems on the ipad as well.

  • Double items in list-view calendar iOS 7

Since I first opened the calander-app in iOS 7, some, but not all items are shown twice in the list-view, but not in the other views. If I delete one of the doubles, both are gone. It seems to be completely random what items are shown twice. Is it a bug? It happens both with iCloud and Exchange items. Both single and repeating appointments. I can not see any logic in it. Please help, because it makes the list-view very cluttered now...
    Kind regards,
    Piet

Okay, I don't understand why, but the problem seems to be induced by the update process. Though the other views are unaffected, some (a lot) items in the list-view are being doubled. It seems to be random, but both my iOS devices are affected in exactly the same way, so there must be a mechanism that causes it.
But... If you turn off the calendars for the affected accounts (iCloud, Exchange), confirm that they are being removed from your device, and then turning them on again, they are being re-synchronized. This creates new entries in the calendar that in the list-view are not doubled anymore.
Be careful! Do not delete the items manually, since this will delete the item on all synchronized devices. Just turn the calendars off in the account settings and choose not to keep them on your device but remove them from your device instead.
This will fix the problem quick and easy.
    Kind regards,
    Piet Groeneveld

  • Customise columns in Open/Save dialog when in List View

When opening or saving a file from an application while in list view, there is no "Date Modified" column that you could click to sort by. It seems to be gone and there is no way to configure the columns in this dialog. How to add or delete columns in the list view of open/save dialog?
I seem to be able to change columns in Finder, but not in Open/Save file dialog.

No. Column view will only sort by name. If you wanted to put a space before each folder name, then they will sort to the top. Sorting by Kind will put folders above files, but it will also put anything else except files at the top. If there are only folders, however, that would put them first in the sort list.

  • How do you change the sort order of a Stack on the Dock in List view?

I want to change the 'Date Added' sort in the list view mode of a stack from descending to ascending.
I have the Downloads stack sorted by 'Date Added', however I would like to reverse the order of this sorting. When I open the stack, it shows the oldest files at the bottom and newest files at the top. Since there are many hundreds of files, the newest files are actually hidden and I must scroll up to access them. When I access this folder I want to see the most recent files first, at the bottom of the list nearest the stack icon, not the files I downloaded years ago.
I prefer to use the traditional List view for Stacks because it is faster (no animations or loading preview icons) and easier to navigate visually. Please do not suggest a different view mode such as fan view or use-new-list-stack.

Have you tried changing the list with the numbers? (See the screen shot)
