Call dll from my dll

I Have a dll file for my attendance machine
and every thing are ok when I call dll from my exe application
I want to create my own dll which my dll connect to attendance dll and get data from it and then insert data to tables
a second question
is there a method for calling my dll through windows batch file or I must create an exe application calling from it

Let me explain a bit what a VFP DLL is for:
You can only build one type of DLL, an OLE COM Server DLL. It'll mainly contain OLEPUBLIC class definitions, which are then usable in other programming languages. In any programming language capable to make use of OLE COM Server classes.
If your project is named mydll.pjx and a prg or vcx contains a class myclass, the final DLL will have the OLE class "mydll.myclass" in it.
This is overhead, if you use this in VFP. If you want to modularize your application, then create several EXE or build as APP. You can DO some.prg IN some.APP or you can create an object o = NEWOBJECT("myclass","myclasslib.vcx","myapp.app")
to refer to a class inside a vcx compiled and build together with other project files into an app file.
But any separation you do complicates the code use. A DLL is only needed, if some other programming language needs to use your VFP code. And that other programming language has to be able to instanciate classes.
You don't need this, even if other programming languages would be involved. You can compile an EXE and that can be run. If needed with parameters. That's typically much simpler and could even be used by DOS batch files either using the DOS start command
or directly your.EXE as man DOS commands also are merely EXE files.

  • CVI crashes when calling function from external DLL

    I'm calling a CVI library from Test Stand 4.1.  In that CVI library I load an external DLL (using LoadLibrary) and create a few function pointers (using GetProcAddress).  The DLL loads successfully, and I get addresses for all of the imported functions.
    However, when I one of the functions is called CVI crashes (Test Stand says it lost the ActiveX connection to CVI) when executing in an external CVI instance.  If executed in the Test Stand process I get a system level exception.
    If I step through the code in CVI, it hangs after trying to step into or over the call to the function pointer from the external DLL.
    I am able to call the functions in a small test project I created in CVI, however when integrating it into an existing test library and calling it through Test Stand it fails.
    Any ideas on how to go about debugging this issue?

    Have you tried calling into the dll that CVI calls directly from TestStand?  I am curious to know if this also crashes.
    I am also curious to know if there are any path references in the dll that is called by the CVI program.  If so are they relative, or absolute paths?
    I ask because one of the possibilities is that relative paths are being used to specify a path from the location of the code that is called, and they are not working because the current working directory is being specified by TestStand, and the paths are not relative to the working directory given by TestStand.

  • Possible problem calling java from Windows DLL

    I'm am developing on Windows NT 4.0 using JDK 1.3.1.
    What I want to do is to create a DLL that calls into java using the Invocation APIs.
    I am able to successfully create a JVM inside my DLL and find the java classes that i need. The problem is if one of those java classes happens to perform a JNDI function (e.g. InitialDirContext), my DLL doesn't ever return from a call to that class's method.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks for your reply.
    All my JNI functions return ok with out error/exception. The problem is, the one function never returns so that I can check for errors/exceptions.
    I found a work around for the problem. For some reason if I wrap the JNI code in a C++ class, the call hangs. But if I pull that code outside a C++ class, it works like it is supposed to. Not sure why this would be the problem.
    Thanks again for your reply

  • Call function from C++ (dll file) in Flex

    Hi,
    i using Adobe Flash Builder with Flex 4 , i write a C++ Code in dll File , i need to access to my Function in dll file in Flex ?? what should i do ??

    Lets make sure you are performing the correct actions:
    1.  Place a Call Library Function node on your block diagram.
    2.  Double click the node to open up the Call Library Function dialog box.
    3.  Click the Browse button and navigate to the DLL function.  Select the proper DLL and click Open, or just double click on DLL.
    4.  On the Function Name box, click on down arrow.  A list of functions found in the DLL should be displayed.  Choose the function.
    5.  On the Calling Conventions box, click on down arrow and select C or WINAPI.  In your case, it should probably be C.
    6.  The Parameter box should show return type.  In the Type box, select the data type of the return value.  Since you won't see HRESULT here, you need to find out what data type HRESULT is in the C code.  I would guess it is a numeric so select numeric from the drop down list.
    7.  Click the Add a Parameter After button.
    8.  In the Parameter box, change the name arg1 to the actual name of your first parameter, which is byPortNumber.
    9.  In the Type box, choose Numeric, since a BYTE is a numeric in Labview.
    10. In the Data Type box, choose Unsigned 8-bit Integer, since a BYTE is a U8 in Labview.
    11. In the Pass box, choose Value.  If the C parameter was a pointer (*BYTE), you would choose Pointer to Value.
    12. Verify that the contents of the Function Prototype box contains the correct syntax according to the C declaration.
             C:  HRESULT RSPInitComm (BYTE byPortNumber)   should be in Labview: long RSPInitComm(Unsigned char byPortNumber)
    13. Click OK button.
    Try it out.
    If you get a crash, change the Calling Convention to WINAPI.

  • Calling functions from a DLL

    I am currently using Oracle to retrieve a BLOB data to process it. The only way I have of intepreting the BLOB is through a function of a DLL provided by my supplier. Is there anyway of doing so?
    Any Help is very greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Unless you have worked with the JNI before or are long accustomed to "just figuring it out due to lack of documentation and information", you really will not glean too much information just from looking at the JNI itself.
    In a nutshell, what you need to do is: create one or more Java classes which contain native methods appropriate for your use; compile these classes; use the 'javah' to process each class that contains native method declarations in each class; copy the generated C header files to C/++ source files; implement each C function (each function corresponds to precisely one native method declaration) in each C/C++ source file as appropriate for your needs (e.g., do Oracle ju-ju (this is where the real beef of the JNI comes in - functions to get data out of the VM and from the Java environment - threads, objects, and so on); compile and link the C/C++ source code into a DLL for Windoze and a shared object for Unix (note that when you compile you will actually need to include two directories from the JDK, not just one - the second directory provides the platform specific definitions of types and so forth). Having done all that, you essentially can now use that/those class/classes in the Java world to hit the Oracle ju-ju, or whatever it does, from a Java perspective.

  • Calling DLL2 from DLL1 from TestStand

    Hi,
    I have a TestStand sequence that calls function1 provided by DLL1.dll,
    which in turn calls function2 in DLL2.dll.
    If my test sequence consists of a single action, 'Call function1 from
    DLL1.dll', the sequence fails with the error message 'Could not load
    DLL or external library DLL1.dll'
    If I insert a new action BEFORE this action, 'Call function2 from
    DLL2.dll', both DLLs load with no problem, and the sequence operates as
    expected, except that I have an additional unwanted call to function2.
    (This extra call loads DLL2.dll, so it is already in memory when
    DLL1.dll is loaded, so the second load is successful)
    I have managed to reproduce this problem with the following
    configurations:
    1. DLL1.dll and DLL2.dll are regu
    lar DLLs using MFC created with MSVC++
    6.0.
    2. DLL1.dll is a regular DLL using MFC created with MSVC++ 6.0, and
    DLL2.dll is created with LabWindows/CVI 5.0.
    Any ideas / suggestions as to how I can remove the initial call to
    function2 are much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Jerry

  • Security exception when trying to call a DLL from an applet

    Hi all,
    I really hope someone out there can help me. I'm trying to call a windows DLL from an applet but always get some error when the call to the DLL comes. If I run it on the command line (calling a dummy main function that only calls the dll) I don't get any error. However, with the -Djava.security.manager, I get an ExceptionInitialiserError. When running it in a browser, I seem to get any of three errors, the above, securityAccessControlException (as I was expecting) and even NoClassDefFoundError.
    I realise of course that this has to do with the permissions in effect but nothing seems to happen when I change the policy file, so I have to feeling that I'm chaning the wrong file. The one I'm using is the one the JRE entry in the registry is pointing to, Java Runtime Environment->CurrentVersion...
    I even tried giving everything in the applet's directory AllPermission.
    So what I'm wondering is this. Is there any way to check if your policies are actually working and when you update the files, what do you need to do to make the changes take effect?
    Best regards,
    Gsli

  • Calling a function from a DLL, exectution in background mode.

    Dear Experts,
    We have created an ABAP report the calls a function from a DLL file. If the report is executed in on-line mode the program calls and executes the function from the DLL, but if the ABAP programa is executed in background mode it doesnt calls the DLL function.
    Do you know a way to solve the problem when executing in background mode?
    Best regards.

    Hi Gabriel,
    Let me explain in details about my DLL function.
    We are importing the business partners from legacy system into the SAP CRM system, so at the moment we created the BP master data via BAPI, I get the name of the BP and this moment I call the function in the DLL file. I export the parameter name and I receive back a simplified string with the name reduced to a code. This code I get back from the dll it is insert in a Z table, so there is no interaction in the screen, all must be executed in background mode, because there are a lot of business partners to be converted in SAP system.

  • How to call a labview dll from excel-VBA?

    How to call a simple Labview DLL from Excel VBA?
    I have seen examples of DLL calls from VB but does it work the same way for VBA? I have 2000 excel and Labview 8.5. I created the DLL and tried to call it from VBA using the same type of code as in NI's website example(ofcourse its a bit diff with 8.5)
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/...
    BUT it errors out when called from excel
    ERROR: The object invoked has disconnected from its client

    You would need to provide more details about the LabVIEW DLL, such as the prototypes of the functions (VIs) that you're trying to call, and your actual VBA code. Specifically, what object you're trying to create. You should also make sure the Run-Time Enginer is installed, as well as any required libraries such as the VISA Run-Time if you're using VISA. Have you made sure to enable the ActiveX server for the DLL?

  • Calling a dll from a new menu item in Bridge.  Idiot help needed

    Hi,
    I'm trying to what I believe is a fairly simple script.  I'm coming from a hobbiest Delphi background, and to be honest I'm finding JavaScript a little bit hard to understand.  My requirements are simple - add a new menu item to Bridge which executes a call to a custom dll.  Note I'm not expecting the dll to return anything here..
    Looking at the samples provided even I can add the menu item - but getting it to successfully call the dll is a bit of a mystery.
    The script compiles and adds the menu item, however the menu action doesn't call the dll.  I believe it should be a fairly simple task and was hoping somebody here could steer me right.  Here's my code (as you'll see a clear cut and paste job from the examples ;o)
    Header 1
    function SnpAddMenuItem()
      this.requiredContext = "\tAdobe Bridge must be running.\n\tExecute against Bridge CS6 as the target.\n";
      this.menuID = "snpmyMenu";
      this.menuCommandID1 = "snpAddMenuItemSub1";
      $.level = 1; // Debugging level
    SnpAddMenuItem.prototype.run = function()
      var retval = true;
      if(!this.canRun()) {
      retval = false;
      return retval;
      // Create the menu element
      var newMenu = new MenuElement( "menu", "myMenu", "before Help", this.menuID );
      // Create the menu item
      var alertCommand1 = new MenuElement( "command", "Load Stuff", "at the end of " + this.menuID, this.menuCommandID1);
      alertCommand1.onSelect = function (m1)
            ExternalObject.myDll = new ExternalObject('lib:/C/temp/apmDLL.dll');
            myDll.sendtoACRPM(1);
    //      return retval;
    SnpAddMenuItem.prototype.canRun = function()
      // Must run in Bridge
      if(BridgeTalk.appName == "bridge") {
      // Stop the menu element from being added again if the snippet has already run
      if((MenuElement.find(this.menuID)) && (MenuElement.find(this.menuCommandID)))
    // $.writeln("Error:Menu element already exists!\nRestart Bridge to run this snippet again.");
    // return false;
                MenuElement.remove(this.menuID);
      return true;
      $.writeln("ERROR:: Cannot run SnpAddMenuItem");
      $.writeln(this.requiredContext);
      return false;
    if(typeof(SnpAddMenuItem_unitTest ) == "undefined") {
      new SnpAddMenuItem().run();

    The dll needs to be compatable with the criteria set in the JavaScript Tools Guide. There is an example in the Bridge SDK that can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/bridge.html
    But it need someone who is knowledgeable with c++
    It would be great if someone could write a wrapper to access other external objects.

  • How to auto-recognize the function parameters called from a DLL built by VC6.0

    Hi,
    I use Teststand 3.5 with C/C++ Adapter, and the DLL is built by VC6.0.
    While I specify module for an action, the parameters of a function called from the DLL are not recognized.
    Since I have the DLL source, I know I can select the source file and verify prototype in the "Source Code" Tab.
    Under the way, almost parameters can be recognized, but some parameters, e.g. HANDLE or I definded, can not ( shows error message "The function definition cannot be found in the source file...").
    How to recognise these parameters?
    Thanks.

    The problem isn't that TestStand doesn't have enough native types. A handle can be represented in a TestStand numeric variable just fine. Instead, the issue is that when you select Verify Prototype, TestStand doesn't fully pre process your headers and compile your code to determine the types. To do so would require TestStand not only to be a full C/C++ compiler but it would also have to be able to read your compiler's projects and settings to resolve include paths, macros, etc.
    Since TestStand is not a C/C++ compiler, it just looks for the standard basic data types plus a few more that are common in test code.  Other data types will not be automatically recognized even if they can be mapped to TestStand types.
    Another option it to create a type library for your dll so that TestStand can automatically read the data type information from it. However, I don't know if that works for struct parameters and I looked for the document on devzone that explains how to do that in VC++ and it has been moved or deleted
    Maybe an AE would know of a link to a current document that describes how to do this?

  • Can I call a function from a dll in LabVIEW that returns:double*string and int.?

    I have a function from a dll that return a double* string and an integer. How can I call this function from LabVIEW? There is a possibility to work in LabVIEW with a double* string?

    Two difficulties I can see with this.
    First the application seems to allocate the array of references
    internally and return a pointer to that array. In that case there must
    be another function which then deallocates that array again.
    Then you would need to setup the function call to have a pointer to an
    int32 number for the deviceList parameter and another pointer to int32
    one for the plItems parameter.
    Then create another function in your DLL similar to this:
    HRESULT WRAPIEnumExtractDevice(WRAPI_NDIS_DEVICE *lpDeviceList, long i,
    CHAR lpszDeviceName, LONG lenDeviceName,
    CHAR lpszDeviceDesc, LONG lenDeviceDesc)
    if (!lpDeviceList)
    return ERROR_INV_PARAMETER;
    if (lpDeviceList[i].pDeviceName)
    WideCharToMultiByte(CP_ACP, 0,
    pDeviceList[i].pDeviceName, -1,
    lpszDeviceName, lenDeviceName,
    NULL, NULL);
    if (lpDeviceList[i].pDeviceName)
    WideCharToMultiByte(CP_ACP, 0,
    pDeviceList[i].pDeviceDescription, -1,
    lpszDeviceDesc, lenDeviceDesc,
    NULL, NULL);
    return NO_ERROR;
    Pass the int32 you got from the first parameter of the previous call as
    a simple int32 passed by value to this function (and make sure you don't
    call this function with a higher index than (plItems - 1) returned from
    the first function.
