Call View controller with some URL parameter

Hi
I have a 3rd party system which need to send some data to my CRM system.
One approch which is being suggested is by sending data by URL parameter.
I have made a new component for this and have provided the 3rd party with its URL .
The issue with calling a view controller URL along with some specific URL parameters is that i am not able to access its parameters.when i call method GET_PAGE_URL from the DOINIT method of the controller it does not provide me with the parameter list .
How can i access these URL parameters ?

HI,
have a look at component CRM_UI_FRAME. In the page default.htm they extract URL parameters.
You have got the REQUEST variable in your view controller as well.

I have 3 view controllers on storyboard. One of them has Storyboard Id as 'myViewController'. its runs perfectly on simulator. But when I try to run it on my device it gives following error:

I'm not sure how "new" you are to Xcode and IB, but just double checking -- did you create the XIB file from Xcode (so that it was added to your project?). Or, if not, did you save it to your project directory somewhere and were prompted to add it to your project? If you created it new from IB it may not be part of your project yet. That's when I have seen my classes missing from the drop down menu on the Identity Inspector.
One final thing -- after setting File's Owner, I don't see from your code how you are actually loading the NIB file (xib file). You are calling plain "init" in your app delegate where you create these view Controllers. You need to call the "initWithNibName" method. It is the designated init method for view controllers that load their interface from a NIB file.

Xdk: calling java function with a CharSequence parameter

When using xdk version 10.1.0.2.0_production, you can not call a javamethod with a CharSequence parameter.
Sun documentation:

This prevents us from calling a method like
java.util.regex.Pattern.matches(String, CharSequence)
Converting the parameter to a normal string would solve the problem.
Example to illustrate the issue:

Hi Khandal.
You should not make you component controller dependent from a view controller.
But what you can do is to define an event in the component controller. The view
controller can register for this event.
In the stage where you currently want to call the view controller method just fire
the event. In the event handler method in the view controller you can call the
method then.
Why do you need to call a view controller method? Can you give more details
about the scenario?

Real Model View Controller with JTextField

I am new to Java (so please bear with me). I am building a swing application. I already have added a JTable with a corresponding table model that extends AbstractTableModel. Rather than store the data in the table model, I have modified setValueAt and getValueAt to write and read cell data to another location. So far, everything is fine. When doing setValueAt, I have a fireTableCellUpdated statement that I use to update the edited cell. So far, things are all still fine.
I would like to do the same thing with a JTextField. I found an example in Core Java Volume 1 for create a class that extends PlainDocument. It uses insertString to update the document in a way that ensures that only numbers are entered. I implemented this. Everything is still fine. I changed insertString to update my remote repository (a field in another class). Everything is still fine. Next, I tried to change (override) both getText methods to read from the repository. This works, but is not reflected on the screen.
I realize that I need the equivalent of a fireTableCellUpdated statement for the class that extends PlainDocument, but do not know how to do this.
I have looked a lot over the internet for the model view controller implementation. I know that it can be done using event and event listeners, but this seems to defeat the purpose of the model view controller - it seems like you ought to be able to directly modify the model object to access external data.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, based on your response, I guess that I must not have clearly communicated what I am trying to do.
I am using both JTables and JTextFields, and would like to use them both in the same way.
When using JTable, I extend an AbstractTableModel so that it refers to another data source (in a separate class), rather than one inside of the AbstractTableModel. Thus the getValueAt method, getColumnCount method, setValueAt method, . .. all call methods in another class. The details of that other class are irrelevant, but they could be accessing data from a database (via JDBC) or from other machines via some other communication mechanism.
I would like to do exactly the same thing with a JTextField. I wish for the data to come from a class other than an object of type PlainDocument, or of any class that implements the Document interface. Instead, I would like to use a class that implements the Document interface to call my external class using methods similar to those found in AbstractTableModel.
You may ask why I would like to to this. I have specific reasons here, but more generally this would be helpful when saving or retrieving parameters set and displayed in a JTextField to a database, or when sharing JTextField to multiple users located on different machines.
As to whether this is real MVC or not, I think it is but it really doesn't matter.
I know that I can accomplish what I want for the JTextField using listeners. However, I would like my code for the JTables to be similarly structured to that of the JTextField.

How to call view-controller method out of componentcontroller

Hello all,
my component implements a component-interface with method BACK.
Thus my componentcontroller has the interface Method BACK.
When triggering BACK from an foreign component, the implementation within the componentcontroller is called. So far so good.
Now I want to POPUP_AND_CONFIRM when BACK is hit. But this POPUP_TO_CONFIRM requires me to create an action. But I can't create an action within the componentcontroller.
I could realize the POPUP_AND_CONFIRM within the components view. But how can I call a view-method out of the componentcontroller?
Or does anybody have a better solution? (Maybe I could implement BACK within the view, but how to connect the componentcontroller-back-method with the views back-method?)

You should never attempt to call view methods from outside the view. It is possible to register popop event handlers to methods of the component or custom controllers. From the online help:
For a few special cases it is useful to register event handlers for component controllers or custom controllers on the button events of a dialog box. For these cases, a special POPUP_TO_CONFIRM attribute of type IF_WD_POPUP_TO_CONFIRM_N has been implemented in the IF_WD_WINDOW interface. This interface provides precisely the methods with which event handlers for component and custom controllers can be registered on events of the dialog box.

Db Adapter: problems by calling a procedure with type as parameter

Hi,
We using a db adapter in a bpel process.
In that dapter we call a procedure with types as in and out parameter
package.procedure(p_in IN in_t, p_rsult OUT result_t).
When we calling the procedure, we don't call the procedure directly.
We call that procedure in a schema who have the execute rigths for the package and the types.
When we run the process we get the error message
unable to convert the xsd element p_in whose user defined type is in_t
cause: java.sql.SQLException: ora-01436 connect by loop in user data
I am not shore if I draw the right conclusions.
Is it rigth that bpel have a problem by using types as parameter when using two schematas? Isn't it a bug.

Today I am making an example where I use a table view controller and fill it witharray (NSMutableArray).
However I would do the same using XML so that now, I'm having so many difficulties to the point of not knowing where to start.

If you have a custom XML schema (not a plist), consider two approaches.
1. Before showing your table view, use NSXMLParserto deserialize the XML document into an NSMutableArray that will be the table view data source. Typically the array contains custom class instances; one or more class properties are used to set table cell properties in cellForRowAtIndexPath. If you have never worked with NSXMLParser (or any other SAX parser) before, start by creating a sample app so you understand how that works.
2. Use a 3rd-party DOM parser like GDataXML. Load your XML document into a class property in your table view's viewDidLoad. Then the XML document will be the table view data source since elements and attributes can be directly queried using XPath in cellForRowAtIndexPath. If you have never worked with XML DOM and XPath before, start by creating a sample app so you understand how that works.
If your have a lengthy complex XML document, option #1 might be more efficient because indexed array access is faster than XPath queries. Theoretically that is why Apple's Cocoa provides DOM support on OS X but not iOS. There are strategies to improve efficiency if necessary, including your own indexing scheme. The best solution depends on many factors. For example, if your XML document includes thousands of rows, but users rarely scroll past the first 10, option #1 would waste time parsing everything.
Both of these approaches keep all data in memory, which is fast but not friendly. Perfectly fine for reasonably sized data sets.

Can't login with some URLs

Hello
SCN isn't allowing me to login (SSO) using some URLs, but it is others.
For example I can login using http://scn.sap.com/welcome
but I can't login using http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Business+Intelligence?original_fqdn=wiki.sdn.sap.com
I don't think its a client side issue. Can you help please?

If Firefox is opened with a URL parameter, the parameter persists through attempts to clear history.

When Firefox is opened with a URL, the URL is a parameter in Firefox's command line and could present a potential privacy leak as it is not cleared by Clear Recent History.

In addition, right click on Firefox's launch icon, click "Properties", note the third line; the "COMMAND" entry which most likely reads "Firefox -u". The "-u" is what Anonymous is referring to as a parameter. It (-u) represents an instruction to Firefox to replace your destination URL with another destination that is not intended.
This may point to a virus in an applet, could be a porn site, whatever.
If a pop-up box asks for permission to download a file, DO NOT CLICK OK.
Click "Cancel".
I did a cold boot out of instinct next, then get rid of that "-u". I cannot speak for the clear history but it sounds like a good idea, also. I made sure I had a BACKUP of my bookmarks as a precaution, then did what Anonymous suggested.
Another thought I only have one icon, so cannot vouch for it but you may need to remove the "-u" on each launch Firefox you have.
Also, do not be as blasé as I was, if the URL looks wrong, it probably is wrong. Go browse somewhere else.

Securely calling stored procedure with APEX URL

I have a web server that needs to call a stored procedure on an Oracle database (v10.2.0.4.0-64bit), and to do so without storing schema credentials on the web server it has been recommended to call the procedure using a URL to APEX, and granting execute privileges on the package storing the procedure to APEX_PUBLIC_USER. However, this allows anyone on the network to call the procedure if they have the URL. Is there any way to make sure that either Apex or the procedure only responds directly to requests from the web server?

Assuming you are talking about application server ( not web server ).
It is common practice to create new user on Oracle database (often called proxy user, so you don't have to use schema credentials). Grant this user privileges to call package you need. Then on application server store encrypted credentials for this new user.
Application (java or .net) then connects to Oracle using new user credentials and executes packaged procedure.
Using Apex is the same. You need to have Authentication enabled (hence to store user id and password). If not, it is not secure.
Making any application (including Apex) to respond to request from specific IP is possible by inspecting ip from request header (Apex : UTL_HTTP.GET_HEADER ).
There are problems however:
1.If connection is made by proxy, request ip can change.
2.Hackers can use "ip spoofing" to emulate request from permitted server.
Another option would be to set up proxy server rules, permitting traffic between selected servers only.

Calling Stored Procedure with Boolean Output Parameter

I'm running into an issue (or is it a BUG) when calling a Database Stored Procedure that has an output parameter of the boolean type.

SOLUTION / WORKAROUND
To answer my own question.
It looks like BOOLEAN output parameters are not supported. I just Read "Appendix D Troubleshooting" of the Oracle® Database JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference 10g Release 2 (10.2).
I found that JDBC drivers do not support the passing of BOOLEAN parameters to PL/SQL stored procedures. If a PL/SQL procedure contains BOOLEAN values, you can work around the restriction by wrapping the PL/SQL procedure with a second PL/SQL procedure that accepts the argument as an INT and passes it to the first stored procedure. When the second procedure is called, the server performs the conversion from INT to BOOLEAN.
I'm not very happy with this but I guess I've no choice.

MVC call another controller with other (own) namespace

i have a bsp-application (mvc) in our own namespace '/otto/...'. Now i'd like to create a controller, but this controller is in the z-namespace.
I have tried with the method create_controller and the optional attributes application_namespace and application_name, but it didn't worked!?

relative path, but it didn't worked! What is wrong?

OK, sorry, i know this options and i use it, but the answer is the same:
"500 SAP Internal Server Error

The Error was in the ABAP-Program "CL_BSP_PAGE_BASE==============CP " in
"CREATE_PAGE". Mainprogram was "SAPMHTTP ".
In the sourcecode line 1170 from (Include-)Programs "CL_BSP_PAGE_BASE==============CM01B ".
