Callback from Webdynpro to Workflow

Good day,
I need to do a callback from a webdynpro application to the workflow that started the WebDynpro. This is the code I have so far-I

I read in previous Sdn posts about how to fill this parameter - SAPWFCBURL. In WebDynpro , there is a parameter WDEVENT OF type CL_WD_CUSTOM_EVENT. It uses the method GET_DATA to read the parameters in the called URL. Hence I am doing the same.
However I am running into an exception - CX_SWF_WS_EXCEPTION.
Obviously I am missing something. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Binding Structure/Internal Table to Workflow from Webdynpro

Hi Gurus,
I have to trigger workflow from WEBDYNPRO application. For now I have two ways they are:
1. Triggering WFLow using SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW (Successfull):
How could I bind Structure/Internal Table (DDIC referred structure) to workflow directly. Presently I am mapping indvidual fields which makes my code complex using FM SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW.
2. Triggering WFLow using SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT (Bindind issues):
Also When I try to submit using BOR event with SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT workflow triggers successfully But I cannot able to bind the values. So are there any specific configuration need to be made.( like making task as General while triggering workflow using SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW).

The other way to do is you can also make use of OO ABAP classes to trigger the workflow. If you want to create a rfc function module then create a wrapper function module .
SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW cannot transfer structures or tables which are more thatn 255 characters. So the work around is either make use of OO container or SWCONT container.
The above code snippet should be included in the assistance class of the webdynpro application and you need to include the define the include cntn01_swc in the class local types under macros.
and then you create a method ....... and include the above code in that method.   excluding the include statement.

I've initiated a conversation with a webservice from a workflow. The workflow
goes on until it gets to the point where it must stop and wait for the callback
from the webservice. I'd like it to passively wait (not polling in a loop).
I'm an intermediate with webservices, not an expert - I think the callback handler
should be in the workflow somewhere and the callback method should be defined
in the webservice - am I completely off-base? Conceptually, could someone explain
how a webservice could callback to a specific node in a workflow?

if you are speaking about Weblogic 8.1, then use Client Response nodes in
the webservice and Control Receive nodes in the calling workflow process.

Trigger MDM workflow from Webdynpro Java

Hi All,
After updating records in MDM, I want to trigger an MDM workflow from Webdynpro Java and pass those updated records to workflow. Any inputs on how to accomplish this. Workflow has already been developed using MSVISIO by the MDM team.

By following steps, it is possible to integrate workflow (or any workflow designed in MDM) within portal:
1. UWL (Universal Worklist): The UWL gives users unified and centralized way to access their work and the relevant
information in the portal. It collects tasks and notifications from multiple provider systems. One can expose MDM
workflow functionality on Portal using UWL.
2. JAVA APIu2019s: MDM Java API consists of set of classes related to MDM workflows through which one can create an

Hello,
You would probably want to use UWL in the portal. From UWL you can launch tasks from portal, and with proper configuration (for example with the help of transaction SWFVISU) you can easily start web dynpro applications from UWL.
I suggest you go trough the SAP documentation about UWL. Start for example here:

Kicking off workflow from webdynpro using events?

I have abap experience but no workflow. Any advice will be appreciated.
I have to kick off a workflow from webdynpro. I assume that I have to set up a business object (eg. ZOBJECT), create an event therein (eg. ZEVENT).
Then when webdynpro runs I use a rfc function module to trigger this event.
The questions I have are:
1. How do I set up the workflow to be triggered by this event?
2. Do I set up an event in Business object builder or in SM62?
3. How do I trigger an event in a function module. I have found SWE_EVENT_CREATE but don't want to create an event just want to trigger the event and in turn set off the workflow?

Test waits forever for a callback from a human task

Hi,
I've create a test to test a BPEL process. Now within the BPEL process there is a call to a human task service. I've emulated the task initiation message which is fine. I also tried to emulate the receive message from the human task service but during the test execution, the test waits forever to receive the callback from the human task service, even though i've specified the return message. Would appreciate help with this! I've posted my testbpel.bpel and the test case (CreditCardInvalidTest.xml) below. For both these files I've highlighted in bold the relevant bits of code that's giving me problems. Thanks

Hi hi, on a hunch I previewed the page in the browser, and copy pasted the faces/untitled1 portion of the URL there and pasted on the http://<server_address>:8001/BasicAPPDemo_Root therefore ending with http://<server_address>:8001/BasicAPPDemo_Root/faces/untitled1 and lo and behold I saw the little text box saying "Hello World" ;D
So with that i escalated, switched to the application where the page from BPM was located, deployed it and did the same trick.
But it borked it gave this error:
JBO-29115 Unable to construct the error message due to error java.lang.NullPointerException. Use the exception stack trace and error code to investigate the root cause of this exception. Root cause error code is JBO-.
I figured that the Default generation could be faulty so i created a new page and only recycled the data controls, created everything in read mode, just to test and deployed, when i tested, i was optimistic as the 1st tab didn't had any error (also does not have anything related to the HumanTask, even the data controls) the problem was in the other tabs as I show here.

ABAP with Webdynpro or Workflow

Hi ALL,
I am a fresher to SAP working from past 8months. Till now I did only one project that is a Upgrade project from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 and I wonder how will my career goes if it is like this. Please suggest me to move into some other technology Like WebDynpro or ABAP Workflow. How will be the future for these two things.
Please advice your valuable comments.

ABAP is very good plaftorm which SAP gifted to US.
Try to learn cross platform technologies that are Wokflow. Webdynpro. I would say Both are good and very Insteresting.
Since you are already in ABAP try to do coding for all your objects in Object Oriented ABAP. So that once you are familiar with OOABAP it will be very easy to you to learn WebDynpro. Workflow is nothing but a automated process for the activity that a person or bussiness needs to do. it is just a automatic process like sending mails when a PO is created... etc
It is very easy to learn and you can always learn multiple things at a time.

How to automatically actualize UWL after return from WebDYNPRO?

in the universal worklist (uwl) i have configured a workstep to open a Web Dynpro application instead of the SAP GUI. This works fine and i can process the Workflow.
But after processing of workstep I returns to the UWL using
WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute(          "ROLES:portal_content/tm.eop.fd.eop_root/tm.eop.fd.content_root/tmcz.eop.fd.tmcz_root/tmcz.eop.fd.my_workspace/tmcz.eop.ro.my_workspace/my_workspace/tmcz.eop.iv.uwl",          WDPortalNavigationMode.SHOW_INPLACE,
                    (String) null,
                    (String) null,          WDPortalNavigationHistoryMode.NO_DUPLICATIONS,
                    (String) null,
                    (String) null,
                    (String) null);
In the UWL there is non relevant item (item that was processed in WebDynpro) and it angers users.
It is possible to actualize UWL automatically after return from WebDYNPRO application? WebDYNPRO is opened in the same window and frame as UWL.

Followed what vinay and Timo sugguested:
One solution is to use a af:dialog in the popup where you define a dialogListener to catch the outcome of the dialog and if it's OK you call your other method.
I wrote method code in back bean like this:

And it works: the adf table(Bill4NewReceiptPending) in the calling page will be refreshed after the dialog popup was closed!

What's more, I found even if I use bounded workflow calling instead of using popup dialog calling, the returnListener wasnot executed either.
And there is still a issue in the popup Dialog: The strange behavior of checkbox selection, see the thread:

I tried and put aside for some days, and have no idea yet.
Can anyone give helps?

WebDynPro and Workflow Link

Hi,
I need to know how are WebDynPro applications linked with SAP Workflows.
Configurations settings involved, Main tables, Components, Batch jobs, Class and the method etc...
Basically, I want to understand, say I have Workflow and want it to be run thru a Web Dynpro Application what all things would be involved from Workflow and WebDynPro side.
I have seen tasks in Workflow which uses class CL_HRASR00_WF_COMPONENTS and has method WI_EXECUTION_VIA_R3_INBOX.
When I checked this method, there's no code written except an error exception where if user tries to open workitem thru SAP instead it would throw an error saying that it should be opend from portal.

When we talk about workflow for webdynpro application, workflow event should trigger from webdynpro application ( I mean from some button action ..)
In my webdynpro application our workflow consultant written only piece of code to trigger the workflow event. no more settings like assigning wrkflow id to Standarad transactions( regular workflow ).

Debugging is not working in R/3 from WebDynpro-ABAP developed webpage input

Dear Friends,
We are facing a serious problem for debugging. Expecting valuable input for the same.
Debugging is not working in R/3 from WebDynpro-ABAP developed webpage input in Production Server.
The debugging (for WebDynpro-ABAP application) is working in Dev. Server for
1st ] Within R/3
Ex. debug for bapi within R/3. i.e. value enter as input in R/3 only.
2nd ] From webpage to R/3
Ex. Some input given on the internet web page developed through WebDynpro and external breakpoint set in R/3 it works. It directs to R/3 code through debugging.
In Prod. Server the 1st case above is working but the 2nd case is not working.
In Prod. Server the WebDynpro developed applications are running successfully through internet explorer webpage inputs. So running the application is not a problem in prod. Server but debugging of the same is the problem.
The setting which are done in Prod. server are,
1] RZ10 in parameters are set for port and host name.
2.1] In SMICM check for ICM.
2.2] Host file updated in Windows-System 32.
3] In SICF following services are active,
3.1] default_host/sap/bc/webdynpro
3.2] default_host/sap/public/bc
3.3] default_host/sap/public/bc/webdynpro/viewdesigner
3.4] default_host/sap/bc/wdvd
3.5] default_host/sap/public/icman
3.6] default_host/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
3.7] default_host/sap/public/ping
3.8] default_host/sap/bc/error

4] In SE80
4.1] Internet services-System-are published

Error when Interative Adobe Form is called from Webdynpro ABAP.

I trying to call a Interactive adobe form from ABAP Webdynpro application but I am facing the below error.

So kindly provide your valuable suggestions to avoid the above error when I am calling a Interactive adobe form from Webdynpro ABAP.

Hello, are you sure you have your ADS credentials configured correctly and valid? I guess you know that is the only difference between clicking enabled on true or false. If you are not sure, you can use SE38, search for FP_* and pick some reports to check the licencing. The names of the reports are good enough to recognize the right one.
Or maybe that is a security problem? Have you checked the ADS_ERROR string? Did you use the ADS trace?
