Calling a Function returing(Out parameter) Nested Table Rows in Java

Hi,
I am trying to call a Function which returns Nested Table rows (as Out Parameter) in Java .
When I am trying to use
pstmt.registerOutParameter(3, OracleTypes.OTHER);
to capture the Out parameter in Java code , I get the follwoing error :
java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column type
I have even tried using OracleTypes.JAVA_OBJECT ,but I get the same error.
If I use OracleTypes.JAVA_STRUCT I get
java.sql.SQLException: Parameter Type Conflict: sqlType=2008
error.
Please help .
Am I doing the right thing ?

You can achieve the use case you describe with partial page rendering (PPR), a feature of the ADF Faces framework. Here are a few posts that achieve an interactive behavior using PPR. Off the top of my head I do not know of an exact example, but this should be a good starting point:

Call stored procedure with OUT parameter

Hello,
I have created a short-lived process. Within this process I am using the "FOUNDATION > JDBC > Call Stored Procedure" operation to call an Oracle procedure. This procedure has 3 parameters, 2 IN and 1 OUT parameter.
The procedure is being executed correctly. Both IN parameters receive the correct values but I am unable to get the OUT parameter's value in my process.
Rewriting the procedure as a function gives me an ORA-01460 since one of the parameters contains XML (>32K) so this is not option...
Has someone been able to call a stored procedure with an OUT parameter?

Calling a function module out of a web template

Hi experts,
I need to call an ABAP function module out of a web template including a query with the variable values of the query as input parameters. There shall be button, which starts the funtion module, if the user clicks it. I don't need to transfer any other data just the variables. I have no idea how to accomplish that.
I experimented with implementing interface IF_BICS_CONS_WEBITEM_CUST_EXIT but this does not seem to help me, as the initialize method is called when starting the web template and I did not manage to bind it or the execute method to that button. Besides I was getting shortdumps when starting the web template with the customer extension web item. I declared it as ABAP_CLASS_NAME exit and set the right class name. Variable Container Access and Navigational State Access is on, Result Set Access is off.
Is there any other possibility to do this? Perhaps with BSP?
Can I call an ABAP function module with Javascript out of the template? If yes, which command can I use to do it?

Hi Markus,
if you are on BI 7.0 or higher I recommend using Integrated Planning for this requirement. If you implement a fox formula you can easily get the current variable value and execute the function module. You can execute the fox formula upon button click.

About JDBC CALL STORE PROCEDURE with out parameter is greater than 4000

Hi Guys,
I have a problem call store procedure with a large string.
as i know varchar2 can contain 32767 characters in pl/sql .
But when i used varchar2 as a out parameter in a store procedure, if the out parameter is greater than 4000 characters , it always give me error message as 'the buffer is too small'.
why it happened?
I read some article that says i need configure a property in data-source.xml , and jdbc 10g driver already solved this problem, but i used jdev 10.1.3.2 ,the driver should be fine.
How can i solve this problem?

Stored function with OUT parameter

Hi there,
anyone knows wether a stored function may have an OUT parameter other than a returning value and/or IN parameter.
I think not but I've a doubt about it.

How to call a Stored Function with OUT parameter of %rowType from Java

How to execute a procedure if out parameter is table type

I need to execute a procedure, output parameter of the procedure is table type.
Oracle version I am using is 9.2.0.8 . I am using SQL*Plus
Procedure declaration

I tried executing using this script, but it failed. When I execute this oracle lost connection to data base.

I don't see anything wrong with the anonymous block, assuming ss_invoice_utilities is the correct package name. Perhaps a simplified test case would show up what's not working there.
As for printing the contents of an associative array, you'll have to write some code to loop through it and construct a string per row to output via dbms_output, assuming the text will fit within dbms_output's size restrictions in 9i. dbms_output is a debugging tool though - is that the requirement?
btw "pls_integer" is less to type than "binary_integer" ;)

Stored Procedure with in out parameter of table of records type

Hi
I am tring to create a strore procedure inside a package like this:
procedure name_p(root in table.column%type, tab in out table_of_records_type);
I get the error:
PLS-00306: Wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'name_p'
I am working with oracle 8.1.7.
I dont really understand why this is happening.
Can anyone suggest anything.

How to call nested table type from Java

I needed a 2 dimensional array and asked the questuion here.

I have my program working correctly in pl/sql.
The java guys are building this array and passing it in to me, but they don't know how.
A small example of this would be appreciated.
Heres an example of the procedure prototype and the type definitions in use

There's an orl Oramag article by Tom Kyte rounding up [some Java tips|http://asktom.oracle.com/tkyte/omag/00-nov/o60tom.html] which includes an example of how to do this. You'll need to replace Tom's SIMPLARRAY with your own type.

Procedure OUT param as Table

How to call a procedure with out parameter type table using ADBC?
I tried with scalar out paramenter and it's works.
      l_stmt_ref->set_param( data_ref = l_dref inout = cl_sql_statement=>c_param_out ).
       l_stmt_ref->execute_procedure( l_stmt ).
is It impossible?

Return Nested Table Using Out Parameter

I wrote a function in which i'm using a return type as NUMBER and OUT parameter as TABLE but i'm not able to call the function in PL/SQL because of TABLE ,Can anyone plz tell me how to call the function in PL/sql using TABLE as OUT parameter. The calling function is mentioned below..

It is not the correct approach to do this (passing a collection using an OUT parameter) using a function.
Does not matter whether you dislike it. It is still wrong.
It should be a procedure. It should likely define the OUT parameter as being passed by reference and not value in order to decrease the call overheads and increase performance.
Also note that is it not called a table. The correct terminology is a collection or an associative array. A table is something you get inside the database engine. The structure you define in the PL engine is nothing like a database table and everything like an array.
PS. And how do you expect us to determine the error? How do you expect us to test anything if we do not know what Oracle version you are using? Please.. FULL details, including Oracle version number and the full Oracle error message!
