Calling another JFrame

I have only takin classes with JSP, and I am trying to develop a windows application. (first off, am I in the right forum?)
Question:
Lets say I have a pane, with everything I need in that pane. I now want to make my admin button close the current jFrame thats open and open the admin jFrame. How do I call it?
Thanks for any help! I know its a simply question, but I just can't seem to get it.

    I only need to call 1 new login screen and no new application... how can i call a
    function from another java file?From a method of any class you can invoke (call) methods of other classes. I use "method" rather than "function" here to emphasise that they are much more than bits of code that do something: they have a context (the object of which they are a method).
    for instance i want to call the start function of the loginScreen.java from the
    testapplication.java. i don't need any new pieces, just want to be able to open the
    loginscreen jframe from the test application jframe.I wondered before why that start() method was creating a new loginScreen, but leaving that aside... One way might be for the TESTapplication class to have a member variable of type loginScreen. When some method of TESTapplication wants to invoke the start() method it just does so:loginScreen myLoginScreen = new loginScreen();
    // much later...
    myLoginScreen.start();There is no need for the loginScreen to have its own TESTapplication member variable since, as you say. "i don't need any new pieces".
    The start() method appears to next to nothing. It makes the loginScreen instance visible. But there's already a public method to do that. Perhaps loginScreen should be a modal JDialog: calling setVisible(true) will allow the login screen to do its thing and not return until it has finished (without blocking the event queue).
    It's all really a bit speculative and will remain so until you break down your application into small pieces: not functions (actions), but classes (types of obejcts including the things they can do.) Each class should have a clear and documented description of what it does.

  • JFrame calling another JFrame

    Hello,
    I have a simple question:
    2 java files with 2 JFrames in them
    JFrame1(Cars.java) calls JFrame2(AddCar.java) from actionlistener.
    What I think is wrong is JFrame1 actionListener:
    if(ae.getSource() == CarEdit_btn){
    AddCar objEditAddCar = new AddCar();
    objEditAddCar.EditCar();
    And JFrame2's EditCar() method:
    public void EditCar(){
    AddCar windowAddCar1 = new AddCar();
    windowAddCar1.setTitle("Add Car");
    windowAddCar1.pack();
    windowAddCar1.show();
    AddCarMilage_txt.setText("544");
    The problem is that AddCarMilage_txt.setText("544"); doesnt update the value of the JTextField of JFrame2.
    Any ideas? Thanks
    Or another way to go around for me is, how do I use args[] from main inside the constructor?

    read this:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5199666&messageID=9792440#9792440
    it has also 2 classes and updates the textfield of the other class just copy and paste the code.

  • A JFrame calling another JFrame running a Thread

    Hi,
    here is my problem: I have an instance of Frame1 (extending JFrame) containing a button. When this button is clicked, a new instance of Frame2 (extending JFrame too) is created. The constructor of this Frame2 then calls the run method of an implementation of Runnable (called MyThread). For the purpose of this example I put a simple incrementation of a counter in the run method of the thread.
    The goal is to stop the incrementation by clicking anytime on the stop button of Frame2, hence ending the thread.
    When I create a new instance of Frame2, it works fine and I am able to end the thread, but when I create an instance of Frame1, the application freezes and I don't get any control on Frame2.
    The code for those classes is:
    public class Frame1 extends JFrame implements ActionListener{
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              new Frame1();
         public Frame1(){
              getContentPane().setLayout(new GridLayout(1,1));
              JButton b = new JButton("Run");
              b.addActionListener(this);
              getContentPane().add(b);
              setVisible(true);
              setSize(400,400);
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
              Frame2 f= new Frame2();
    public class Frame2 extends JFrame implements ActionListener{
         MyThread t;
         boolean running = true;
         public Frame2(){
              getContentPane().setLayout(new GridLayout(1,1));
              JButton b = new JButton("Stop");
              b.addActionListener(this);
              getContentPane().add(b);
              setVisible(true);
              setSize(200,200);
              t = new MyThread();
              t.run();
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
              t.setRunning(false);
    public class MyThread implements Runnable{
         boolean running = true;
         public void run(){
              int count = 0;
              while(isRunning())
                   count++;
              System.out.println("Last count: "+count);
         public boolean isRunning() {
              return running;
         public void setRunning(boolean running) {
              this.running = running;
    One thing I have tried is to make Frame2 implementing Runnable, but it didn't work. Any idea how to get the control on Frame2?
    Thanks

    You are calling t.run() and you really should be using t.start(). The code inside run() in MyThread is not running in a separate thread, so the call that you make to t.run() never returns.

  • Parsing String Oject into another JFrame page

    Hi,
    Can I know if it is possible to parse a string object into another JFrame page that I had created.
    Say i created a string object called obj, i want to pass the value of the string object "obj" to another JFrame page. How can it be done?
    String obj= new String();
              obj=table.getValueAt(table.getSelectedRow(),table.getSelectedColumn()).toString();Next, can i know how tocheck if a connection exist?
    Like i wann connect to a FTP server and i would like to check in the first place if the connection exist/available.
    appreciate all help.
    thanks.

    Essentially the same problem as solved here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=698985
    You should keep in mind that there is a difference between static and non-static thingies...
    * what goes into the class and what goes into the objects?
    ...and you should also keep in mind that Java is case sensitive and Java programmers (well, almost everyone) follow the same naming conventions :
    * use Capital letter for classes
    * finals all capital (with undercores denoting words)
    * everything else have lowercase letter
    * capitalize first character whenever "a new word" comes along
    You will keep bashing your head against a wall with minor problems until you figure it out. A "Java naming-ized" version of your (presumed) code might act as some kind of starting point?
    public class Search extends JFrame {
      //instance/object thingies -----------------
      private String aString;            // a instance field (unique for this instance)
      public Search(String anArgument) { // the Search constructor, with an argument
        aString = anArgument;          //do something with the argument ...
      //class thingies -----------------
      public static String str= "Some string";  // a static field (shared by all instances)
      public static void main(String[] args) {  // the main method is static...
        Search frame = new Search(str);      // create the Search object/frame, passing a parameter
        frame.setVisible(true);
    }

    Question about the sensor... just got my 4s yesterday after screwing up my 3 with the laterd version update. EVery call I have been on has either changed to speaker, called another number or ended the call or activated facetime, which I have turned off. never had this trouble with my 3...I don't even want to talk to anyone on this phone! Is the sensor bad? That is what the AT&t rep suggested.

    Restore as new... if the problem still continues then there is a hardware issue.
    If it stops after a restore as new, then the issue is with the backup the device is currently setup with.

  • Local Session Bean calling another local Session Bean in EJB 3.0

    Hi,
    In EJB 3.0, I am trying to do JNDI lookup of a local sesion bean from another session bean's helper class.
    I am not using @EJB injection mechanism here, as call to the local session bean is made in a helper class. Helper classes do not support resource injection.
    Following are the EJB class definitions used in my project. Call to "EJB3Local" made from "EJB1" fails as the "EJB2" helper class is calling "EJB1Local"
    @Stateless
    @EJBs({@EJB(name="EJB2Local", beanInterface=EJB2Local.class),
    @EJB(name="EJB3Local", beanInterface=EJB3Local.class)})
    public class EJB1 implements EJB1Remote, EJB1Local{
    public void findEJB3Local(){
    //1. JNDI lookup for EJB3Local ----
    //2. EJB3Local.someFunction()
    @Stateless
    @EJB(name="EJB1Local", beanInterface=EJB1Local.class)
    public class EJB2 implements EJB2Remote, EJB2Local{
    public void findEJB1Local(){
    //1. JNDI lookup EJB1Local
    // 2. Call EJB1Local.findEJB1Local method
    @Stateless
    public class EJB3 implements EJB3Remote, EJB3Local{
    public void someFunction(){}
    A remote call to EJB2.findEJB1Local() will invoke EJb1Local.findEJB3Local method and the call fails with "java:comp/env/EJB3Local" not found in EJB1Local.
    Has anybody encountered an issue like this issue with local interface calling another local interface?
    Thanks,
    Mohan

    To refer a Ejb from another Ejb include <ejb-ref> element
    in ejb-jar.xml
    <session>
    <ejb-name>SessionBeanA</ejb-name>
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>SessionBeanB</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>com.ejb.SessionBeanBHome</home>
    <remote>com.ejb.SessionBeanB</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    </session>
    Include a <reference-descriptor> in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    <ejb-name>SessionBeanA</ejb-name>
    <reference-descriptor>
    <ejb-reference-description>
    <ejb-ref-name>SessionBeanB</ejb-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>com.ejb.SessionBeanBHome</jndi-name>
    </ejb-reference-description>
    </reference-descriptor>
    </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    In SessionBeanA Bean class refer to SessionBeanB with
    a remote reference to SessionBeanB.
    InitialContext initialContext=new InitialContext();
    SessionBeanBHome sessionBeanBHome=(SessionBeanBHome)
    initialContext.lookup("com.ejb.SessionBeanBHome");
    SessionBeanB sessionBeanB=sessionBeanBHome.findByPrimaryKey(primarykey);
    sessionBeanB.update();
    sessionBeanB.getAll();

  • Calling another web dynpro in a web dynpro programm

    Hi experts,
    I am new to web dynpro. And I am working on several web dynpro applications. I just want to know how to call another web dynpro within a web dynpro application. Don't use popups, I'd like the web dynpro work together in the same window just like a wizard.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Guo,
    Yes, you can achieve it by Component Usage. You can embed other component's Interface views into your own Windows. Check out the component Usage information in help.sap.com to get a clear idea of it.

  • PHP script calling another but staying on same page

    Hi,
    Im thinking of writing an additional PHP page, that has a link to another PHP page, to do an insert. On the current PHP page, I have a counter which I would want incrementing after the 2nd PHP script is called, but don't think its possible?
    I'm saying this as I will need an anchor to another script which when called, will load another PHP script - which will do the insert, but take me away from the current page.
    So basically, I want to stay on the first PHP script showing a counter, click to call another PHP script, but all the user will see is a counter increment.
    Here is what I have thought will not work:
    <code>
    echo "<br><span class=\"style1\"><a href=\"./../Test/count.php\"><img src=\"./Up.JPG\"></a>";
    </code>
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
    got a bit further now in that i'm calling the php script through Ajax successfully, but, got the issue where i am getting the same value sent to the script (dataString):
    source script:
    <script type="text/javascript" >
    $(function()
    $(".submit").click(function()
      var likeid = $("#likeid").val();
      var dataString = 'likeid='+ likeid ;
      var locurl = "./../Test/it.php?randval="+Math.random();
      $.ajax({
       type: "POST",
       url: locurl,
       data: dataString,
       success: function()
        $('.success').fadeIn(200).show();
        $('.error').fadeOut(200).hide();
      return false;
    </script>
    target script (it.php)
    <?php if(!$_SESSION) { session_start(); } ?>
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <?php
    $_SESSION['name']=session_id();
    $sess=session_id();
    $likeid=$_POST['likeid']; <----------------------always the same value
    if($_POST)
      $result2 = mysql_query("INSERT INTO Test (value, sess) VALUES ('$likeid', '$sess')")
      or die(mysql_error());
    ?>
    </body>
    </html>
    what i get is the same value for $likeid on every call from the source script. In the source script i have:
    <form method="post" name="form1">
    <input type="hidden" name="likeid" id="likeid" value="CAR79668"/>
    <a href="#"><img src="./Up.JPG" border="0" class="submit" onclick="change11('CAR79668');"></a>
    <b id="CAR79668" value="2">2</b> </form> </span>
    <form method="post" name="form2">
    <input type="hidden" name="likeid" id="likeid" value="CAR79669"/>
    <a href="#"><img src="./Up.JPG" border="0" class="submit" onclick="change11('CAR79669');"></a>
    <b id="CAR79669" value="2">2</b> </form> </span>
    Why does the same value of CAR79668 get passed to the target script on every call?
    Thanks.

  • How to call another form ,if option is entered in a text item object ???

    hi ,
    I am created an application ,where in i press a button which call another form having a menu .
    I select any one of the option from the menu ....i enter a number in the text item object of this form ....depending upon what option i have typed .....i would like to call another form ...
    My questions are
    1) Which trigger of this text item should be enabled,and what code to i write in this trigger ?
    2) Since this form is not having any database insert,delete ,update or query (select)
    it should directly go to the new form,whose option i provide in the text item .
    Sunny

    hey bro, i am assuming that ur text item contains the form name, any relevant trigger can be used for user action, like key-enter, post-change or key-next-item.
    to run a form u can use functions call_form or open_form with proper paramters.
    if u want to forward the entered text in the item, use global variable for the session.
    it doesnt matter if the form contains database items or blocks, all u have to do is run the form.
    e.g,
    declare
    VAR VARCHAR2-------;
    begin
    /* u can use the variable to concatinate or modify too, also can use global variable
    var:=:urblock.uritem;
    /* use ur own relevant parameters */
    open_form(VAR,ACTIVATE,NO_SESSION);
    exception
    when---------
    end;

    end;
    /Hi,
    i have a simple doubt over here, i read somewhere that cursor attributes can be used only as long as the cursor is open, then in the above case whiel doing the update operation, oracle implicitly will open an cursor and will do the operation and then will close the cursor, then how does SQL%ROWcount works???please revert...

  • I want to send a response from the servlet and then call another servlet.

    Hi,
    I want to send a response from the servlet and then call another servlet. can this happen. Here is my scenario.
    1. Capture all the information from a form including an Email address and submit it to a servlet.
    2. Now send a message to the browser that the request will be processed and mailed.
    3. Now execute the request and give a mail to the mentioned Email.
    Can this be done in any way even by calling another servlet from within a servlet or any other way.
    Can any one Please help me out.
    Thanks,
    Ramesh

    Maybe that will help you (This is registration sample):
    1.You have Registration.html;
    2.You have Registration servlet;
    3.You have CheckUser servlet;
    4.And last you have Dispatcher between all.
    See the code:
    Registration.html
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML>
      <HEAD>

    Can anyone send me the code to call another pageflow url from one page flow URL.

    Like "your application exceeds the memorylimit you cant
    use more than 32Kb of byte code in Canvas"...
    So the application is not opened.
    I tried to call the next file in same package to proceed, i got it. codition goes to next file, but its not return back to the Main(MIDlet) file, throws the excepton as "Security exception".
