Calling executable file generated from labview in C++

Hi,
I am new to LabVIEW. I have to call an executable file  from C++ in a system where LabVIEW is not installed and Run Time Engine is installed. Can anyone please guide me with it. Thanks in advance.

If it's just an executable (.exe) and you have the Runtime Engine installed, why not just launch the executable from your C++ application? I think it's something like CreateProcess() (You'll have to look up the details as I'm a LabVIEW not a C++ programmer!).

    Hey Greycat.
    That is a great question!  So as you noticed there is no equivalent to System Exec in LabVIEW PDA, so you cannot launch an application that way.  I would think that there would be a DLL that could be called on the PDA that will allow you to launch applications.  However, after several Google searches I was not able to come up with any specific code or DLLs.  Once you found that DLL hoewever, you shouldn't have problems launch an EXE.  I am assuming that these are not other LabVIEW PDA built EXEs, which is a shame since you might be able to open a VI reference to that VI.

    Solved!

    There is quite large dedicated Excel thread with a lot of examples.
    I'm curious though. If you don't have the toolkit, how did you create the Excel file in the first place?

  • How to populate/import data in a XSD file generated from a webservice

    HI All,
      I have an XSD file generated from the webserive using the CRM FM E2C_DOWNLOAD_CRT_SCHEMA.
    I created a Adobe form with the Adobe life cycle designer using the XSD file.
    However Data will have to be entered manually in this adobe form and cannot be pre-populated with data, How do we pre-populate data in the Adobe form generated from XSD file of the above CRM FM.

    This is what you need:
    integer     li_fhandle, li_rcode = 1, li_sfound = 0, li_idx = 0, li_eqpos, i
    string ls_filename = 'C:\app.ini'
    string ls_line, as_key[], as_val[]
    string ls_section = '[General]'
    // OPEN INI FILE
    li_fhandle = FileOpen(ls_filename, LineMode!)
    IF IsNull(li_fhandle) OR li_fhandle < 1 THEN
      // DO NOTHING
    ELSE
      DO WHILE li_rcode > 0
      li_rcode = FileRead(li_fhandle, ls_line)
      IF li_rcode > 0 THEN
      IF POS(ls_section, ls_line) > 0 THEN
      li_sfound = 1
      CONTINUE
      END IF
      IF li_sfound = 0 THEN CONTINUE
      IF POS(ls_line, '[') > 0 AND POS(ls_line, ']') > 0 THEN EXIT
      li_eqpos = POS(ls_line, '=')
      li_idx++
      as_key[li_idx] = MID(ls_line, 1, li_eqpos - 1)
      as_val[li_idx] = MID(ls_line, li_eqpos + 1)
      END IF
      LOOP
    END IF
    FOR i = 1 TO li_idx
      messagebox('Key - Value',as_key[i] + ' = ' + as_val[i])
    NEXT
    // CLOSE INI FILE
    IF li_fhandle > 0 THEN
       FileClose(li_fhandle)
    END IF
    Adapt it to your needs... you probably should make it a function.

    where are these unix executable files coming from and how do I recover the original text file?

    When you upgraded to Lion did you have AppleWorks installed on your mac?
    Most of the AW documents can be opened by Pages 09 or Numbers 09 with most of the orginal format in tact. (I do not know if previouse verision will work) just open the AW file with both and see which one works best.
    Text Edit will also open most of the AW files as well but will require a lot of work to restore them to their orginal format.
    If you have AW Database documents then they are not supported.
    These document show up as "exec icons", Kind: Unix Executagle File.
    They also will show up as .cwk file if they are small files. I have a couple that were under 1mb that are shown as " Kind: AppleWorks Document" but will not open.
    The only option to open AW database is to have AW installed on a mac with a pre-Lion OS to recover the file.

  • Calling executable files

    Is it possible to call executable file, or applications, or calling the ms dos promp using a button in java?
    tnkss alot in advance....

    etuc,
    There's a box on the left below the words "Search Forums". Try typing some key words, like "DOS prompt" into that box and pressing the button. A number of discussions will appear. If none meet your need, the results page has an "advanced search" button which will let you be more specific.
    Google also indexes these forums (and many others) so you could try there for maybe "java DOS prompt". Again, the advanced search lets you home in on more specific results. Forums are for the questions you can't answer this way.

  • Urgent - Error calling web service generated from plsql package

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 production release.
    I am trying to publish a plsql packaged procedure as a web service.
    My first question is -
    When I am publishing the plsql API as a WS, should I choose the style Document/Wrapped or RPC Literal? Document Wrapped is the default in the wizard.
    My second question - Depending on whether I choose Document/Wrapped or RPC Literal style, I get 2 different errors when I try to run the client java file (generated by Jdeveloper) that calls the web service. The client java compiles successfully but when I run I get these messages:

    Now all the classes are generated by JDeveloper automatically from the plsql API. So I am not sure why the errors occur and how to fix these.
    Also, these errors are occurring on plsql APIs that have input or output parameters of plsql record type or pslql table of record type. These errors don't occur if the api is simple with scalar input or output parameters only.
    I would appreciate any help on how to resolve these errors.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I'm wondering if the problem is actually that the client is failing to connect to the server correctly. Can I suggest that you switch on the HTTP Analyzer and see what comes back there.
    Is it possible it is a proxy problem? If you are working locally then I first suggest that you ensure that the Web Browser Proxy is off (see Tools -> Preferences -> Web Browser Proxy) - and that there are no exceptions listed (either with the proxy on or off) before you start the HTTP Analyzer.
    As to Doc/Wrapped or RPC. see this blog entry for a little more explanation:

  • Calling Matlab 7.1 from LabView 6.1

    Hello,
    I am using LabView 6.1 and I have recently installed Matlab 7.1 on the same machine.
    When I try to call Matlab by a Matlab script node, I only get the error
    message that the script could not be executed and that a failure
    occured calling the script server. (This does not depend on what script
    I implement.)
    Earlier, I had Matlab 6.5 which worked well with the script nodes.
    What can I do to get the script nodes running?

    Hello ffffff
    I can pretty much assure you that LabVIEW 6.1 has not been tested with MATLAB 7.1, and "officially" I might go so far as to say it's not supported.
    That said, you might try downloading the MATLAB Script.zip file attached to this KnowledgeBase entry:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4475BC3CEB062C9586256D750058F14B
    Follow the directions in the KB to update the matscript.dll file in your LabVIEW 6.1 distribution, and this might resolve the issue.  This addressed numerous issues with the MATLAB script node so that version 7.0 of MATLAB would work well with LabVIEW.  I'm not sure if this version of the matscript.dll has been tested with LabVIEW 6.1 or not, but in theory it should work.  Also, if the problems you are encountering are new to MATLAB 7.1 in specific, there may not yet be a solution for this; I don't know how new MATLAB 7.1 is.
    Good luck!

  • Calling 64-bit dll from labview 8.2 on Windows7

    Hello,
    I have tried the LABview driver from the OMNIDRIVER (OceanOptics) package. But when calling functions from the “OmniDriver32.dll” , LABView is crashing and  says that the memory is corrupted.
    I am using LABVIEW 8.2 (32-bit) running on Windows 7 (64-bit).  I have tried some LABView code examples given for LABview 7.1 and 8.0. These example are using the OmniDriver32.dll (not the OmniDriver64.dll).
    But maybe these example are assuming that you are on a 32-bit operating system, which is not my case.
    So I have tried calling the OmniDriver64.dll. but LABView seems not to recognised the dll and can’t read the included functions.
    Is there a way to call some 64-bit dll from LABview 8.2 ?
    Or do I need to buy a new license for LABVIEW 64-bit ?
    Thanks,
    Pierre

    There is no virtualization support for DLL bitness issues outside of the Windows standard directories. The Windows and System directories that an application "sees" depends on its bitness. All other directories are not mapped depending on the calling process' bitness.
    So if you have installed 32 Bit LabVIEW and are not calling one of the system DLLs, you have to point the path of the DLL to the real 32 bit DLL. Pointing it to a 64 bit DLL should not even be able to get the VI compilable, since Windows will refuse to load the DLL into the 32 bit process as being an unknown file format, and that should make the VI broken.
    If you need to call a system DLL you simply enter the DLL name without path and Windows will find the according DLL for LabVIEW.

    The VI is generating some data that I wish to convert to a form that a Windows user can work with (with CR/LF as the EOL). Is there a way to issue a shell command (specifically: $unix2dos <generated file name>) from within labview ?

    Hi,
    have you tried the "System Exec" function? According to context help it should work on UNIX too...
    Btw. you have asked a related question in an other thread. Wouldn't converting the string data in the VI itself work? Or making a special VI for that purpose and enable the conversion by a switch (like "Win compatible format?")?
