Calling java script function in portal
Hi,
I want all the users (anonymous & logged in) of my portal application to have drag and drop facility to my portlets. I couldn't see DVT enabled property in my workspace as mentioned in
http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs102/portals/develop_portals.html#wp1057635
How to activiate this feature? Will it support anonymous user to change the portlet locations?
Alternative:
I found JQuery UI from http://ui.jquery.com/ has sortalble javascript function. It has the similar feature like drag and drop.
Please let me know, how to add jquery.js sortable javascript function to my portal application, so that users can place the portlets in any place within the page.
Thanks
Baskar
Hi ,
I guess visitor tool (deskop shell property) allows only logged in users to move the portlets. correct me if i am wrong. It would be very helpful if you point me to some good documentation on this.
I would like to have this feature for non-logged in users also. Is it possible in weblogic portal V 10
Thanks
Baskar

Calling a java script function while page loads in ebiz
Hi OAF gurus,
I have a requirement of Calling a java script function at each OAF page renders or Loads.
I.e. when any OAF page loads or render in Oracle e-biz i have a java script function which needs to be called Is there any way to implement the above mentioned requirement.
Many thanks in advance..
SouravHi!
From OAF classes java doc:
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OAPageBean
A class for processing and rendering HTML pages, designed to be invoked from either a JSP page or a servlet.
Allows you to:
Validate a user's session and redirect to a login page.
Set the servlet Response content type to the correct character set as defined by the ICX_CLIENT_IANA_ENCODING profile. (The character set should NOT be set in the JSP page ContentType declaration.)
Parse a HTTP Request and initialize BC4J application modules and view objects. (For HTML post, apply the content of the submitted form parameters to view objects.)
Render a HTML page header and body
It has 2 metods:
public void renderDocument()
Renders the HTML document. This is the most common API invoked by JSPs or servlets, and is used to render both the HTML header and body.
renderBody
public void renderBody()
Renders the HTML body only.
I think you can decompile this class or get the source from oracle and add your javascript code into this method.
When OA page rendered, your code would be added to avery page, i think
But it's some kind of hack or something ;-) -
How to get the value retruned by java script function into my jsp page
Hai all,
I had a particular java script function which returns a date.
function getDate() {
var sDate;
// This code executes when the user clicks on a day in the calendar.
if ("TD" == event.srcElement.tagName)
// Test whether day is valid.

sDate = document.all.year.value + "-" + document.all.month.value + "-" + event.srcElement.innerText;
document.all.ret.value = sDate;
var mahi=window.open("configurexml.jsp?xyz=document.all.ret.value")
return sDate;}
Now i want to display this particular date in my jsp page. can anyone tell me the correct approach or a sample code to diaplay this date in my jsp page.

If so, you are making a common but fundamental mistake. JavaScript executes on the client, not on the server. If you want client data on the server it has to get there somehow. The simplest way to do this in JSP land is via HTTP. So... have your JavaScript code call a JSP (or servlet) and pass the value you want as a URL parameter. Of course this will also change the browser location, so if you don't want this to happen use a frame or iframe to capture your HTTP request.
For example:
Javascript....
function someFunction() {
return 1;
var value = someFunction();
location.href="somejsp.jsp?value=" + value; -
Column link - call java script & assign current report column value to item
Hi,
How to call java script and assing current report column value to item?
I have a button column in the report to 'delete' the selected row.
I want to first show dialog box with message 'Are you sure?'. If yes, process to delete
will be executed, else no action.
In order to fire JS, I used Column Link ->Target=URL.
Problem: The alert is showing but I don't know how to pass selected row's primary
key value to process (to delete selected row).
I have a item which can be used to store selected primary key value but don't know how to assign the value
when button pressed.
Thanks in advance
DipOk. The issue has been resolved by following way.

delete xyz
where id = :P8_id;

end;BUTTON URL:
javascript: DelRec(null,'CREATE', 'f?p=&APP_ID.:8:&SESSION.:delete_request:NO::P8_id:#id#');Java Script:

We have developed web portal using classic ASP and java/vb script. We used to run it absolutely fine using Internet Explorer 8. Now we just migrated to Internet Explorer 11. But after that no java script functionality is working in our
web portal.
Our web server is configured on windows 2003 server and IIS version 6.0 and has .net Framework (Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727).
Could you please suggest us that is there any workaround to this?Hi,
Have you tested this web portal in compatibility mode, Tools\Compatibility view settings? or click F12 to use the developer tool, change the the document mode and user agent string to 8, check the result.
And under Tools\Internet Options\Security\Custom level, scroll down to "Scripting", enable "Active Scripting".
Since you're developer of the web portal, it's recommended to post issue in IE development forum

Hi,
I have a link on the page, when i click on the link i should call java script. Java script is written on page level edit area as HTML text.
Can you give me the syntax ? how to call that scriptsay you had a javascript function defined on or accessible to your current page that looked like this...
function popupURL(url)
{w = open(url,"winLov","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=800,height=600");
if (w.opener == null)
w.opener = self;
w.focus();}
...you could then call it with a link that looked like this...
<a href="javascript:popupURL('http://www.google.com');">Open Google in Another Window</a>
...hope this helps,

On 14.0.1 I have a bookmark which calls a java script function to prompt for input, build and call a dynamic URL. This has worked fine until last update of FF. It works fine if I right click and select Open in a New Tab, or new window. It works fine if I am in any other website and click it. It only does not work, if I open a new blank tab or window, and then click it from inside that new tab. Then it does nothing. Same happens whether the "New tab Page" is displayed or not. Same happens in safe mode.
Bookmark properties:
javascript:void(str=prompt(%22Document%20Number:%22,%22%22));if(str){location.href=%22https://somecompany.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=%22+escape(str).split(%22%20%22).join(%22+%22);}I searched for a recent thread on this but couldn't find it.
This may be the result of a security restriction on some "about" pages such as about:home and about:newtab.
Did you blank the new tab page using the little button or did you actually change the new tab page to about:blank? In case you need steps for testing:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter the desired value:
''(i) Page thumbnails (default)''
browser.newtab.url = about:newtab
''(ii) Blank tab''
browser.newtab.url = about:blank
''(iii) Built-in Firefox home page''
browser.newtab.url = about:home
''(iv) Any other page''
browser.newtab.url = full URL to the page -
Problem in calling Java Script and Process at the same time
Hi Frenz,
I have a requirement like this. when i press the button a page level process(Not Application level Process) and java script function has to happen. i wrote the Java script function to close the child window and reload the Parent window. I wrote the Process for the Parent window to get the updated screen.
But the Process is not happening and the only the java script function is achieved.
Can you suggest any idea to achieve both of the things at the same time?

Calling java script from a button
Hi,
I have a Form and I would like to let the end-user to confirm some action that was initiated by pressing a button. The best way would be to call Java script, but the button is an 'item' button and not a 'region' button - i..e it is placed between items and not above the region, like Save, Cancel etc.
In case of 'item' buttons I do not have 'Optional URL Redirect' field where to place the javascript call.
TamasYou can try this..
Instead of using button
Edit the Item to which you want to associate a button.
Go to Element tab
Under Post Element Text enter
</ br> <a href="#" -onclick=call_me() class="t20Button">Click me</a>Note : you need to change class="t20Button", i'm using theme 20 and in that the look and feel of button is derive from t20Button.
remove the hyphen before onclick ..

AnuHi,
I am not sure why is that statement "WE CANNOT CALL JS from WDJ"???? I did that pretty number of time in my developments. Can you please try the below mentioned way...
Inside your method what ever you write to open the JS window
String htmlcontent="Your HTML Content";
try
byte[] html=new byte [ 4096 ] ;
html=htmlcontent.getBytes("UTF-8");
wdContext.currentContextElement().setVaHTML(html);
IWDWindow win =wdThis.wdGetAPI().getComponent().getWindowManager()
.createNonModalExternalWindow(WDWebResource.getWebResource(html, WDWebResourceType.HTML).getURL(),"window Name As per your choice");
win.setWindowSize(600,600);
win.removeWindowFeature(WDWindowFeature.ADDRESS_BAR);
win.removeWindowFeature(WDWindowFeature.TOOL_BAR);
win.removeWindowFeature(WDWindowFeature.MENU_BAR);
win.show();
catch(WDURLException url)
wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("WDURLException::"+url.toString(),true);
