Calling User definedTable valued function in Select

Hello,
I Created a UserDefined Table Valued Function in HANA.
I need to call it in Select Statement Statement.
For Example
Select Func(col1) as test,col2 from tablename;
While using UserDefined Table Valued Function in above select statement
I am getting following error
cannot use procedure or table function in select projection
Please help me

Dont think you can do that Krishna,
A Tabel UDF is expected to return a row of results and not just a scalar value. A SELECT <value> on the other hand can only expect a single value. Maybe you could try SELECT  (SELECT TOP 1 <column name> from TABLEUDF() ) from....

    Locations to Call User-Defined Functions
    • Select list of a SELECT command
    • Condition of the WHERE and HAVING clauses
    • CONNECT BY, START WITH, ORDER BY, and GROUP
    BY clauses
    • VALUES clause of the INSERT command
    • SET clause of the UPDATE command
    Restrictions on Calling Functions from SQL Expressions
    To be callable from SQL expressions, a user-defined
    function must:
    • Be a stored function
    • Accept only IN parameters
    • Accept only valid SQL data types, not PL/SQL
    specific types, as parameters
    • Return data types that are valid SQL data types,
    not PL/SQL specific types
    • Functions called from SQL expressions cannot
    contain DML statements.
    • Functions called from UPDATE/DELETE statements
    on a table T cannot contain DML on the same table
    T.
    • Functions called from an UPDATE or a DELETE
    statement on a table T cannot query the same table.
    • Functions called from SQL statements cannot
    contain statements that end the transactions.
    • Calls to subprograms that break the previous
    restriction are not allowed in the function.

    You have 2 types of calls. SQL and PL/SQL.
    To call a function via SQL, it can be done using a the standard cursor interface. E.g.
    select MyFunkyFunction from dualIt will return the function value via a single row with a single column. The standard cursor fetch and close cursor calls are used.
    To call it via PL/SQL, an anonymous PL/SQL block is needed, and the caller needs to use a bind variable to receive the value from the function. The anon block will look as follows:
    begin
      :bindVar := MyFunkyFunction;
    end;Refer to your client's abstract layer for interfacing with the Oracle Call Interface, on how to deal with bind variables.

  • How can I call a stateful webservice from a user-defined XPath function?

    I'm calling a stateful webservice from a BPEL process using a PartnerLink which implements Custom Header Handler classes to handle the session state, storing the cookie as a property of the PartnerLink.
    I'd also like to call this same stateful webservice, in the same session, from a user-defined XPath function enabling me to call this from an XSL Transformation.
    Is this in any way possible? Can I access the cookie and attach it to the webservice call made by the user-defined XPath function?

    Actually, as long as the servlet returns valid javascript, you can indeed "call it" from the client. It will initiate a request and return the result to the browser.
    This example uses Perl, but it could be easily modified to go to a servlet instead.
    Note that it is only supported in DOM browsers (IE6+/NN6+/etc)

    Hi!
    You can get the instance using the method get_instance of the class cl_sem_variable, and call the method get_value with the return. Check the example:
          CALL METHOD cl_sem_variable=>get_instance
            EXPORTING
              i_area       = (planning area)
              i_variable   = (variable name)
            RECEIVING
              rr_variable  = lr_var
            EXCEPTIONS
              not_existing = 1
              OTHERS       = 2.
          CHECK sy-subrc IS INITIAL.
          CALL METHOD lr_var->get_value
            RECEIVING
              rto_value = et_value
            EXCEPTIONS
              error     = 1.
    After this, read the first line of the table et_value (it should be the value that the user choose on the screen).

    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Ben

    The statement / function call seems to be ok. So there are not much chances left for your call to return different (=non) values.
    1) It could be that you have different values in the column then during your test call.
    2) Maybe your function raises an error and that error is supressed in some ugly WHEN OTHERS EXCEPTION => Solution: Get rid of the error handler.
    3) datatype conversion. For example if a.dt_fis_yr is a number value, then you should test with number values and not with strings. GET_LD_CHECK (2009,7, '8010', '7493'). Same logic goes for the other paramters, make sure the datatype is correct and matches the function parameter.

  • Explicit template member function call from return value of function

    i couldn't see this in the list of C++ standards not implemented <http://developers.sun.com/tools/cc/documentation/ss9_docs/mr/READMEs/c++.html> but sun studio 9 doesn't seem to allow explicit calls to template member functions where the left-hand-side is the return value of a function. here's a test-case:
    template <typename T> class Ptr {
    public:
      T* p_;
      Ptr(T* p) : p_(p) { }
      template <typename U> Ptr(const Ptr<U>& u) : p_(u.p_) { }

    Ptr<A> test_cast_1(const Ptr<B>& b) { return b.cast<A>(); }
    Ptr<A> test_cast_2(const Ptr<B>& b) { return Ptr<B>(b).cast<A>(); }sun studio 9 CC complains with the following message:
    "sunstudio9-template-explicit-call.cc", line 18: Error: Unexpected type name "A" encountered.
    "sunstudio9-template-explicit-call.cc", line 18: Error: Operand expected instead of ")".

    (line 18 is test_cast_2)

    you omitted the required keyword template:

    Hi all,
    I am unable to call the local function in select statement in below scenario.

    FUNCTION FUN1 RETURN NUMBER
    AS
    BEGIN RETURN 2;
    END;
    BEGIN

    Thanks
    Ram.

    Hi,
    Sorry, you can't call a locally defined function in a SQL statement, even if that SQL statement is in a PL/SQL block where the function is in scope.
    This applies to packages, also. If a function is not declared in the package spec, but only in the package body, then you can't call it from SQL statements in the package body.
    Why do you want a locally defined function? Why not a function defined outside the procedure?

  • Matscript node void ouputs when calling user-defined functions

    Hi,
    I have a (for most of you, probably simple) problem with calling user defined function within a mathscript node.
    I have a script inside a MathScript node which calls three UD functions. When I try to output variables, LabView sets their type to void, so I cannot use them further. this would imply, that the script is nondeterministic, (since the types would get set at runtime). However, if I replace the call to the UD function with the actual contents of the function, the variable becomes deterministic. Now, since I have several call to these functions, I have no desire in writing all of them many time, introducing many variables etc. What would you advise me to do?
    Find attached my scripts and functions.
    I need this script running on a RT Target, and have been battling this for weeks, with almost no success!
    Thanks, Regards,
    Luka

    MArtin, hello!
    As far as I know, LabView checks the syntax as you write in the MS Node, and since there is no X mark next to the line number, it indicates, that the syntax is correct. Since i have set the path to the UDF in both the VI options and in the general MAthScript setting, how does adding the path command help? even if I add path('directory') command, a yellow exclamation mark appears, saying the command is slowing down performance.
    (this is the original help explanation:
    The warning glyph indicates that LabVIEW operates with reduced error checking at edit time and slower run-time performance for the MathScript Node. The following conditions cause the warning glyph to appear. To remove the warning glyph from the MathScript Node and improve run-time performance, modify your script as follows to resolve the condition in your script:
    Your script calls addpath or pathremove (legacy name rmpath), or calls cd, path, or userpath with one or more inputs, which change the MathScript search path list at run time. Remove these functions and use the MathScript page to configure the default search path)
     Could you please post a screenshot of your VI, just to see, if you've got anything different set up?
    I am running LV2012.

  • CALL USER DIFINED FUNCTION IN SQLLDR

    Is is it possible to call User defined function in SQLLDR ?
    COL1 COL2 COL3
    1 2 06
    1 2 06
    1 3 06
    1 4 06
    2 1 06
    2 1 06
    I have to ignore 2nd and 6th row while loading the data . because it is duplicate records .
    Is it possible in SQLLDR.

    If there is a unique index on the columns the duplicate rows are not loaded and sqlldr makes a *.bad-Datei (Parameter BAD=...) with the rows which are not loaded.
    What should the user defined function do?

  • Clearing the displayed value for a SELECT-OPTION

    How do I clear the displayed value of a SELECT-OPTION?
    I have 2 SELECT-OPTIONs on my screen (standard basic report program screen).  I use code like this to populate the drop-down boxes for each one.
    =====
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST FOR s_prgrp-low.
      PERFORM fill_prgrp_values.
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST FOR s_prctr-low.
      PERFORM fill_prctr_values.
    =====
    The value the user picks for the first SELECT-OPTION will affect what values I put in the drop-down list for the second SELECT-OPTION.
    If a user enters a value for the second SELECT-OPTION, and then goes back and changes the value of the first SELECT-OPTION, then I want to do two things:
    1.  Create a new set of values for the drop-down list for the second SELECT-OPTION (no problem; working fine);
    2.  Clear the displayed value from the second SELECT-OPTION that the user entered previously.  That value became invalid when the user picked a new value for the first SELECT-OPTION.
    How do I clear that second displayed value?
    I have tried CLEAR and REFRESH for the second variable using the formats s_prctr, s_prctr[], and s_prctr-low.  They will erase the values of the internal table or part(s) of it, but the displayed value stays on the screen.
    I need to clear out the displayed value so the user will either leave it blank or enter or select a new value.
    I am using F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST to build the drop-down lists, and it works fine, but I do not see any function module to clear the displayed value off the screen.
    Thanks for your help.

    Sorry, but calling DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE did not work.  This is how I coded it.
    fld_reset_rcd-fieldname  = 'S_PRCTR'.
      fld_reset_rcd-stepl      = sy-stepl.
      CLEAR fld_reset_rcd-fieldvalue.      "  re-initialize s_prctr
      CLEAR fld_reset_rcd-fieldinp.        "  what goes in here?
      APPEND fld_reset_rcd TO fld_reset_tbl.
      CALL FUNCTION 'DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE'
        EXPORTING
          dyname = 'ZFI_GL_BALANCE_NGL'
          dynumb = '1000'
        TABLES
          dynpfields = fld_reset_tbl
    <Added code tags>
    I have discovered that CLEAR and REFRESH of s_prctr will clear it somewhat.  If I enter multiple values, ranges, etc., they will all be cleared, EXCEPT for the one single value that is displayed on the main screen.  It is not cleared and it remains if you push the button to display the pop-up to enter ranges, etc.
    To devrath.sampat  --  Thanks for your example for building the drop-down list, but that is not the problem I am having.  I am already able to build it just fine.
    To repeat my problem, if I:
    1.  first enter / select a value for the first SELECT-OPTION s_prgrp
    2.  then enter / select a value for the second SELECT-OPTION s_prctr
    3.  And finally go back and select a new value of the first SELECT-OPTION s_prgrp from its drop-down list,
         when I do, the program needs to clear the value displayed on the main screen for the second SELECT-OPTION s_prctr (any additional values, ranges, etc., are cleared by CLEAR and REFRESH, if I go look; but not the value shown on the main screen).

    * Inserts leading zeros to a text, if this starts with a digit.
    * Else the return value will be the same as the given text.
    * The return value will have the specified length.
    public static String leadingZeros(String text, int len)
    {  String retur = text;
    char c = (text == ""?'0':text.charAt(0));
    if ('0'<=c && c<='0'+9) { // Is first char a digit?
    retur = "";
    int n = len - (text == ""?0:text.length());
    for (int i=0; i<n; i++) { // Insert zeros:
    retur = '0' + retur;
    retur = retur + text;
    return retur;
    * Removes leading zeros from a text.
    public static String removeLeadingZeros(String text)
    {  String retur = text;
    int pos = 0;
    int len = (text == ""?0:text.length());
    for (int i=0; i<len; i++) {
    if (text.charAt(i)=='0') { // Is char a digit?
    pos++;
    return retur;
    public static void main(String[] args)
    { // Basic test of functions:
    int len = 5;
    String s = "1234";
    String r;
    System.out.println("leadingZeros("+s+","+len+")="+(r=leadingZeros(s,len)));
    System.out.println("removeLeadingZeros("+r+")="+removeLeadingZeros(s));

    Flemming, it looks like somthing is wrong in the xsl that it still goes to org.apache.xpath.objects.XNodeSet package instead of yours ..
    I created a sample that illustrates the usage of this functions (even with 2 params, different types).
    Java class (com.otn.samples.xslt.CustomXSLTFunctions)
    package com.otn.samples.xslt;
    public class CustomXSLTFunctions
    <function name="extension:multiplyStringAndInt" as="number">
    <param name="base" as="String"/>
    <param name="multiplier" as="number"/>
    </function>
    public int multiplyStringAndInt (String pString, int pMultiplier)
    int base = Integer.parseInt(pString);
    return base * pMultiplier;
    XML descriptor:
    Note the types (in the java class and the xml descriptor)
    for java:base -> string and for xslt:base -> string
    for java:multiplier -> int and for xslt:multiplier -> number
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <extension-functions>
    <functions extension:multiplyStringAndInt="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/com.otn.samples.xslt.CustomXSLTFunctions">
    <function name="extension:multiplyStringAndInt" as="number">
    <param name="base" as="string"/>
    <param name="multiplier" as="number"/>
    </function>
    </functions>
    </extension-functions>
    Definition of variables in the process:
    (as you can see, the base is a string - I do the conversion in my method, and the return value
    is converted to a string by the engine)
    <!-- Input -->
    <element name="CustomXSLTFunctionProcessRequest">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="base" type="string"/>
    <element name="multiplier" type="int"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    <!-- Output -->
    <element name="CustomXSLTFunctionProcessResponse">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="result" type="string"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    Using the new function in the XSL transformation:
    - watch out for the namespace declaration (xmlns:sample="...")
    - and the usage (sample:multiplyStringAndInt)
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
    xmlns:ldap="http://schemas.oracle.com/xpath/extension/ldap"
    xmlns:xp20="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/oracle.tip.pc.services.functions.Xpath20"
    xmlns:bpws="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/"
    xmlns:plnk="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/05/partner-link/"
    xmlns:extension="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/com.otn.samples.xslt.CustomXSLTFunctions"
    xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
    xmlns:ora="http://schemas.oracle.com/xpath/extension"
    xmlns:ns0="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:orcl="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/oracle.tip.pc.services.functions.ExtFunc"
    xmlns:client="http://xmlns.oracle.com/CustomXSLTFunction"
    exclude-result-prefixes="xsl plnk ns0 client ldap xp20 bpws extension ora orcl">
    <xsl:template match="/">
    <client:CustomXSLTFunctionProcessResponse>
    <client:result>
    <xsl:value-of select="extension:multiplyStringAndInt(/client:CustomXSLTFunctionProcessRequest/client:base,/client:CustomXSLTFunctionProcessRequest/client:multiplier)"/>
    </client:result>
    </client:CustomXSLTFunctionProcessResponse>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    Then I created a jar file with the class (and for testing the xml descriptor in it)...
    and put it into j2ee/home/applib directory

  • Help! Can I have user defined extension function?

    Under SQL Sever XML, I can write a xsl script like this:
    <msxsl:script language="JScript" implements-prefix="myfunc">
    function getvalue(nodelist,name,istag){
    var subNode=nodelist.nextNode();
    if(subNode == null) return('?');
    if(istag == '') name = '@' + name;
    var value=subNode.getElementsByTagName(name);
    return((value == null)?'':value);
    </msxsl:script>
    and I can call this function in the xsl, obviously, msxsl supported by microsoft. I know that Oracle XML support Extension function, but you can tell here that I want a user defined function while not a predefined function. Can I have such feature with Oracle XML, and How? Thanks.

    Oracle XML support Extension function.
    For example:
    If we would like to import FAQDBUri.class with user-defined java functions, like TranslateDBUri(), we can write XSL file like this:
    <xsl:template match="/" xmlns:dburig="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/FAQDBuri">
    <xsl:variable name="urladd" select="dburig:TranslateDBUri($url)"/>
