Camera stuttering and flickering purple hue after Yosemite

The camera started to lag and stutter and flicker purple things on my screen.
It is very annoying and can apple please release an update...
MBP (late 2011) came with OSX Lion -> Mavericks -> Yosemite.

Hi everyone, I'm the one from the example above posted by @frankensinatra and I can confirm having the same problem.
But I want to add something. The problem is not only related to black and white but to every picture, and it can be worse or not depending on the range of colors involved. Apparently, there is a shift between some RGB value that is going to remove some green producing a magenta look.
I've started contacting some developer about this problem and some of them is trying to understand what's going on.
In my case, the problem came up when I bought the new iPad mini Retina. I didn't have this problem with the previous iPad mini. Same OS for both devices.
The photo you see in the link above is a perfect example of what happens just going from one app to another and saving to the camera roll. In that case, the situation doesn't change if I send that picture from within the app by email, or to another app using the "open in..." feature. It keeps being purple. And the problem can be reproduced all the time.
Have some of you noticed the same?

  • Thunderbolt display sound and ethernet not reliable after Yosemite upgrade

After upgrading my MacBook Air to Yosemite, my Thunderbolt display has become unreliable. Most of the time, connecting to the display does not allow either the sound or the ethernet capabilities of the monitor to be used by Yosemite. A manual restart of the MacBook temporarily resolves the issue, but it recurs any time I unplug the MacBook and plug it back in again. Reminds my of my Windows days, having to restart the computer to resolve issues. Not a good feeling.

    Hi there,
i was experiencing this too. I followed this procedure (Have a backup available or make one!!)  :http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1756994
    1. Download & Run Kext Utility - http://cvad-mac.narod.ru/files/Kext_...app.v2.5.7.zip
    2. Download & Extract - IO80211Family.kext zip  https://www.sendspace.com/file/4v4a4r
    3. Let Kext Utility do its job repairing permissions, system cache, etc.. then Drag & Drop the extracted IO80211Family.kext file into the Kext Utility
    4. Restart MAC OS X Yosemite 10.10.
    (no garanties ;-)

  • Mail upgrade and import assistant failing after Yosemite install

I upgraded my friend's macbook pro 13-inche Mid 2010 to Yosemite, everything except iMail seems to be working fine.
When I go to launch iMail it tells me that it is "updating your mail database", it proceeds to go into another screen where it is "Migrating data" then the next screen shows "The upgarde failed. An error occurred during the upgrade. Click Continue to launch the Mail Import Assistan, which will help you create a new library and import your existing messages".
I click continue  and get an error pop up that says "Your Mail index has been damaged. To repair it, quite Mail. Mail will repair the index the next time you open Mail. Your mailboxes and messages will be preserved" and hte only option is to Quit. I launch it again and get a new window with the header Message Import and the info says "Mail needs to import your messages. This might take a few minutes. You won't be able to use Mail until the import is finished. Click Continue to import your messages now, or click Cancel to import later". I click Continue and it goes through the importing process of bringing over 8467 messages and folders from Hotmail and another iCloud account which takes about a minute then goes to the next screen which goes through Upgrading then optimizing then migrating the data and back to the upgrade failed message the same as above.
I have tried restarting the computer and attempting to open Mail 3 times with no luck. There does not seem to be any way to open Mail without going through the rebuild which always fails. I'm happy to set up Mail again but can't get around Mail auto-transfer process. I've checked for updates to Yosemite and there aren't any. Any suggestions on how to get around this and get Mail set up?

  • Video stutters and audio is delayed after upgrading to iTunes 11

I'm having a major issue with video playback.  The audio is about 10 seconds behind video playback.  The audio also stutters.  Is anyone else having this issue. SO ANNOYING!!!!

    Solved it.
I had a program running in the background, which did not get picked up by MSCONFIG.
I looked at the services on CCCleaner and there they were, many instances of this program, slowing the
computer down and preventing other programs (including iTunes) from functioning.
Turned them all off, and iTunes and all other pgms work again.

  • Pixma MP950 photo prints turn purple hue after several months.

Using Canon ink and Kirkland glossy photo paper.   This only happens with prints I have hung inside on my garage walls.  Both color and B&W do this.  Any idea what would cause this?  No color change on prints inside the house even after years.
    Solved!

    Hi johnshel,
There may be a temperature variance in your garage that is different than the inside of your home that is having an effect on the photos.  The inks used in your PIXMA MP950 are ChromaLife 100 inks, and when used with Canon genuine photo paper, your printed photos will resist color fading and you can enjoy long-lasting beautiful photos displayed in a typical indoor environment.  For more information on the ChromaLife 100 system, please click on the link below:

  • Safari and Youtube  + Computer lagging [after yosemite update]

    Hello all,
Lately, when I go on youtube.com (with safari as my default browser), there is an extreme amount of lagging. Youtube takes forever to load, and after refreshing the page a few times, the pace of the site is still very slow. When I click a video, I usually have to cancel the tab and start over or click the video several times before it actually loads. After that, I get the video and the comment section says "loading..." and never loads! Does anyone else have this lagging issue?
Not only youtube, but my computer has started to lag a bit? my tablet doesn't function that well with my computer (even after updating the driver/reinstalling twice). Also, and of the safari tabs I eventually have open all end up lagging, and I have to restart my computer constantly. Does anyone have a solution for this?
Oh, I'm using a Macbook air.

    Hey OrangeSlices,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like Safari is running slowly. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

  • InDesign 5.5 & 6 AND Acrobat Pro crashing after Yosemite Upgrade

I've tried several of the fixes suggested however my InDesign is still crashing when I try to SAVE or EXPORT. I copied the files I need right away to work on into Illustrator. Converted the files to PDF's. Went to create a PDF file and I'm getting the same crash report that I get from InDesign. I'm getting desperate. Can someone please help?
I do not have any 3rd party FONT programs, everything has come from APPLE or ADOBE. I've done the CMD+CTRL+OPT+SHIFT command AND we've deleted the Recovery Files. Short of taking my computer to APPLE and have Mavericks reinstalled, I'm pretty lost here. Thanks for your help!!

You didn't actually re-flash your BIOS, did you? Yes
If it was fast before the infection, and slow after the reformat, then this is pretty much the only place that anything could be different. I'd be more inclined to test hardware than continue chasing software, in your shoes.
Ran various RAM tests, and the BIOS shows nothing out of the ordinary.
But it's certainly nothing to do with the software, unless the new install was botched for reasons having nothing to do with the virus, or that the virus is actually hiding in one of the spots on the motherboard that can be written to, like the BIOS.
Clear one thing up for us - you say
Adobe Software: Originally CS3 Suite, now CS5 Suite
Does that mean "it ran like a dream with CS3, but now that I have CS5 it's running slow?" Because, if so, you're chasing a red herring - CS5 consumes a lot more in terms of computing resources than does CS3. You should be looking at how to tame CS5's resource consumption, and there are plenty of threads about that.
After the reformat, CS3 Indesign was a dog as well as Acrobat 9 Pro. Upgraded to new CS5 Suite (all but Acrobat 9 Pro). CS3 & 5 Indesign still a dog as well as Acrobat 9 Pro
Lastly, I haven't seen malware hiding in flash ROM on the motherboard more than once in the last decade. It wouldn't generate any error messages or beep codes, either.
Same here, have not witnessed malware/viri infultrating the BIOS since back in 99'. Never the less, it's the only idea I can come up with. I have yet to locate any software for testing the NVIDIA NVS 290 video card. This is the strangest issue I have seen ever.

  • Spotlight and finder not working after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi,
    I just upgrade to 10.10.1 from 10.8 on a Mid 2012 Retina macbook pro, 2.7Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 750GB SSD drive.
Since upgrading spotlight and finder have stopped working.  When I first upgraded I noticed it worked very briefly and found some of my applications, but now nothing.  The only thing it does is find the definition of the word I am searching for,
    I have
gone in to sys pref > spotlight added and remove all folders and rebooted the machine
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and ensured no folders are in that pane
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and added "documents folder" closed sys prefs rebooted and then removed "documents" folder to try and trigger a re index
gone to terminal and typed "sudo mdutil -E /" which should erase and rebuild the index but i get the error back "Error: Index is already changing state.  Please try again in a moment"
gone to terminal and typed "sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist" and then typed "sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist"
go to disk utility and verified my disk which comes back as showing no errors
logged in as another user but spotlight and finder still not working
Any other ideas my laptop is useless for work if I can't find anything,
    Thanks

unfortunately I this is still not working, thanks for the link Eric i tried those options, but still the problem remains.
I can clear the cache and re index my mac, and while the system is re indexing spotlight works and I can find material during the reindex.  This is obviously limited to the files that have been indexed at the point of using spotlight.
Once indexing has finished if I go to spotlight and try to search for anything, there are no results only the dictionary appears.
At the moment I have to delete the index cache every morning to trigger a re index so I can work, this is terrible and the worst upgrade experience I have had with any OS mac or windows

  • Reset PRAM after Yosemite?

When is it advised/necessary to reset PRAM? This was suggested as a cure to massive iMac (2010) blinking/flickering that occurred after Yosemite installation, but I am afraid to perform a drastic move without getting green light from the experts. BTW, are there other ways to cure this absolutely annoying pixel flickering? Any chance that Apple will take care of it soon? Is it a Yosemite bug, or just a message from my not-that-old iMac begging for replacement?

I am afraid to perform a drastic move
Very simple and not considered drastic, try it and see if there is an improvement.
    Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Information stored in NVRAM / PRAM includes:
        ▪    Speaker volume
        ▪    Screen resolution
        ▪    Startup disk selection
        ▪    Recent kernel panic information, if any
      1. Shut down the computer.
       2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
       3. Turn on the computer.
       4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
       5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
       6. Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.
<If your computer is Open Firmware-based (Power PC) >
Resetting NVRAM via Open Firmware A number of users report that resetting NVRAM resolves wake-from-sleep issues.
In order to perform this process, hold down the Command, Option, O and F keys at startup. When the prompt appears, type:
    * reset-nvram (then press return)
    * reset-all (then press return)
Contents of PRAM on earlier Macs
Some earlier Macs store these settings in PRAM:
        ▪    Status of AppleTalk
        ▪    Serial Port Configuration and Port definition
        ▪    Alarm clock setting
        ▪    Application font
        ▪    Serial printer location
        ▪    Autokey rate
        ▪    Autokey delay
        ▪    Speaker volume
        ▪    Attention (beep) sound
        ▪    Double-click time
        ▪    Caret blink time (insertion point rate)
        ▪    Mouse scaling (mouse speed)
        ▪    Startup disk
        ▪    Menu blink count
        ▪    Monitor depth
        ▪    32-bit addressing
        ▪    Virtual memory
        ▪    RAM disk
        ▪    Disk cache

  • Airplay video and audio choppy after Yosemite upgrade

i can not play music or audio reliably using AirPlay after Yosemite upgrade, it's quite choppy until I turn off Bluetooth mouse.
Has anone come across this issue or figured out how to fix it.

I've had a similar issue with a not very fluid stream of mirrored or extended display in Yosemite. Even my iPad's mirror image came out shoppy. So I followed some threads advice and turned off bluetooth on the AppleTV and now I can even play games without having to look at the iPad.
Even streaming a movie from my Mac is possible in mirrored / extended mode (if it's nothing too important as there are occasionally frame drops here and there) but very few in comparison with bluetooth on.
Hope this helps. I'm sure Apple will have a fix ready soon enough.

  • My computer is running slow after Yosemite install -but in the Mail program, when I open an email and then open the attachment -all is good -when I close the attachment the Mail program goes away, and I have to reopen it in my Dock -every time -been

My computer is running slow after Yosemite install -but in the Mail program, when I open an email and then open the attachment -all is good -when I close the attachment the Mail program goes away, and I have to reopen it in my Dock -every time.

I tried this, but no luck. I went to Previous System>Users. There is nothing inside the "Users" folder, so I hit a dead end.
I can find my new e-mails -- those that came in since I re-installed the system -- in my NEW system (which I did to see if I was correctly understanding the advice), by going to Users>Home>Library>Mail>POP account name>Inbox.
Let me add a new question: I am running PhotoShop C3. It opens OK, and I can use it, but when it opens I get this message: "One or more files for Adobe Application Support folder are missing. Please re-run the PhotoShop installer."
I don't like re-installing working programs if I can avoid it, because it always seems to lead to other issues. Any idea what files are missing, and where it/they might be in the Previous System folder?
    thanks

  • Camera RAW and Yosemite?

I just updated Aperture 3.6 and Camera Raw 6.01. According to all the info it should read files from my new Canon 7D Mark II.
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203996
    Well it doesn't!
Adobe Camera Raw also doesn't work with the files from this camera in Photoshop/Lightroom.
Very frustrating as I like to shoot everything in RAW.
Anyone have suggestions on why Aperture with latest Camera Raw and Yosemite don't play well together? Or even better how to make Aperture work with these files...  Thanks - Roger

I was able to figure it out. I downloaded Camera RAW 6.01 from this address
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1777?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
and manually installed it. Apparently the App Store update didn't take. After this install all is working as it should.

  • Monitors flickering badly after Yosemite Install

Monitor flickering badly after Yosemite installed
I will be awaiting upDated drivers in a release soon.
I notice is very badly when I connect my iphone to ITunes screen
goes crazy flicker. . . . Anyone else having this issue ?

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
