Can I connect n iPod Touch to powered speakers?

I have an old pair of computer powered speakers. Can I connect an iPod Touch or Shuffle directly to the powered speakers? I would like to use the speakers in a garage with the iPod.

The speakers just have the 3.5mm plug.
If this is to plug into the back of a computer to get sound, then yes, just plug it into your touch headphone jack.

  • Can't connect my iPod Touch! :(

I can't connect my iPod touch to my iTunes. I updated to a newer version (10.0), but everytime I try to hook up my iPod it tells me I need version 8.0 or later. How do I get an older version? Or update my iPOd?

been here for 2 and a half hours now trying all the crap that emanates from this support site and nothing works. I have re-installed itunes 3 times including 2 complete clean outs as per this sites directions. THe ipod touch with 4.0 software will not sync with itunes 10. THe windows system recognises the ipod but itunes doesnt. I get a message when I connect the ipod that it needs software re-installing which i have tried to no avail. The system worked fine till the last update of the itunes software. THere is no USB link showing on the computer to an ipod in the services stuff deep within windows and right now I would happily take this stuff and bin it were it not for my daughter wishing to have just one thing from apple that for once worked.

  • Can't connect my ipod touch to wifi tried everything!

I am trying to connect my ipod touch to my home network.
I have typed in the ssid and the password correct and it connects but i havent got any internet! Please help.

You should not have to type anything in (except maybe the first time you connect) to connect to WiFi.
How do you have your home network set up? Suggestions for settings follow:
    SSID - On
    DHCP - On
    MAC address filtering - OFF
Encryption - 128 bit WEP or, preferably, WPA or WPA2
If your network resembles those settings above, then do the following on the touch:
Go to the network connection, tap the blue >, and tap Forget Network
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and tap that.
Once your iPod restarts, go to Settings > WiFi and log into your network again. You can select Other Network and type in the name if the touch doesn't discover the network on its own. If you are using encryption, you will be prompted with a question about the type being used. Tell your touch the correct one. Enter your password or WEP hex key. Note: on WEP networks, you must enter the key and not the password. You must have 128 bit encryption enabled on your router.
When you are connected, you should see a check mark next to your network name, a lock symbol if you are logged into an encrypted network, and a blue >. Tap the blue > and you should see your touch IP address, subnet mask, Router IP, and DNS IPs. At that point you should be good to go.

  • Can't connect my IPOD touch to WRT300n

I just got a IPOD touch and I can not get it to connect to my WRT300n router. I have it set up for WEP 128bit security. My IPOD keeps finding my network but then asks for a password. I enter the password and it does not work. I am assuming this is because of my WEP security. Everything else in my house that is wireless (laptop, 2desktops, 6 gaming systems) all required me to enter in the WEP key to be able to connect them to the router. The IPOD does not ask for this key so I don't know what to do. I don't feel I really need the security setting. If I can not connect the IPOD with the WEP, how do I change my security setting from WEP to none? Any help with this would be appriciated. As I see it right now i just bought a $200 IPOD and if I can not even connect to my own home network for internet it is just a expesive peice of junk.

Login to the Linksys Setup Page by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar..Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the Wireless tab...Here Wireless Network mode should be mixed. And Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz... Click on "Save Settings"...
Click on Advanced Wireless SettingsChange the Beacon Interval to 75, Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304, Click on "Save Settings"...
Also try to lower down the security to WEP 64-bit under wireless security.
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • How can you connect your iPod touch to your Vista computer without using Apple Software

How do you connect an iPod touch to your Vista computer without using any Apple products

There is no other legit way to sync your iPod than using iTunes. There is 3rd party software to transfer content from the iPod to your computer, but not from the computer to your iPod.
    Disk mode is not supported.

  • I can't connect my iPod touch to the internet

I just bought an iPod touch and I am about to return it because I am so frustrated!! I have basically tried everything in the book to connect to the internet. I entered in the password for my router, its 6 digits but my iPod only will allow an 8 digit or more password to connect?? What password do I enter to connect? I have also used the PIN number on the bottom of my router to try to connect it, but that doesnt work either. I can't access anything on it, no weather, maps, safari, youtube... anything that requires the internet. Also my router is set to only allow wireless N devices, does it need to be changed to allow wireless G aswell? Please, if I could get some help, I want an iPod touch so bad, but not if I can't use all of the devices, I could have just kept using my old iPod nano.

  • Can't connect my Ipod Touch 2nd gen to home wireless network - please help

I have just received a 2G ipod touch today and it will not connect to my home network. I have a SKY Netgear router with numerous devices wirelessly connected with WPA security. I have input the shared network key when my Ipod asks for a password but it will not connect (even if I am stood next to my router). I just get "Unable to join the network .........". I have tried connecting via the 'other' network route but still the same result. Please help.

Here's a few things you can do to get to the bottom of the problem:
    - Have you ever connected to a public hotspot? The only reason I ask is this will rule out hardware problems. If you are not close to anything, download and install the free app WiFinder from the app store. Once you have the app installed, you see what networks are around you. If nothing is working, contact Apple and either visit the Genius Bar or return it Apple.
    - If you have disabled encryption in your router and you are still be prompted for a password, you need to tap on that network name and tap Forget Network. And to really make sure everything is cleaned out, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network settings.
    - After your iPod restarts, use WiFinder to find your network. WiFinder will tell you whether or not you have encryption on or off and the type of encryption used. If it is still off, just tap the Connect button. If you have turned it back on, go to Settings > WiFi > Other network and enter your network name. You will be prompted for your encryption scheme and your password. WPA and WPA2 should have a password entered. WEP should have the hex key entered.
    - If you still can't connect, I would check and reenter my password. Passwords are case sensitive.
    - Assuming you have connected, tap the blue arrow (>) next to your network name. You should see your IP address, subnet mask, router IP address, and DNS router addresses, you are good to go.
    - If you have an IP address of 169.x.x.x, your router is not supplying an IP address. Recommend router settings are:
    SSID - on
    DHCP - on
    MAC filtering - off
Encryption - on and set to WPA or WPA2
    DNS - automatic from ISP

  • Can't connect my ipod touch to Safari

I have a new Ipod Touch...I have a strong WiFi connection .  Suddenly I can't connect to Safari!  It was working but isn't now!   I have tried resetting several times but it doesn't help.  Can you help me?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • How many computers can I connect my iPod Touch to? Can I mix Windows computer with Mac?

We are thinking about getting my dad an iPod touch for Christmas and preloading it with songs from our Mac. He has a Dell PC with Windows. Is it going to be a problem for him if he wants to add songs from his PC to the iPod Touch? Will he have to format the device and thus lose all of the songs we preload for him?

iPod tuchsdoare not formated for a a Mac or PC.
You do not have the right/lience to give away music you purchased.
An iPod can only sync with ene computer. To change syncing computer you have to erase the iPod and then sync to the new computer.

  • How can i connect my ipod touch to my 27inch iMac via bluetooth?

I just bought a new 27inch iMac and i have an iPod Touch (one just before they came out with iPods with cameras).
What is the step by step procedure to connect these 2 devices via bluetooth? Or is that even possible? Bluetooth is already activated on the iPod.

You don't.  This is not and has never been a feature of ipod.  Sorry.
Bluetooth is for stereo headsets/speakers and some peer-to-peer apps from the app store.
Not the news you wanted.  Sorry.
