Can I create a Collection?
Is is possible to create a custom Collection with InDesign JavaScript? I have a script that removes empty pages and it is quite slow. I was thinking I could create a Collection of empty pages and then use remove() to delete all of the pages at once. Conceptually, this would be similar to selecting a non-continguous number of pages from the Pages panel and clicking the garbage can icon. This seems to work pretty fast, even in the interface.

Let me as this another way. I have an Array of pages that have a particular criteria (no page items):
var pages = app.activeDocument.pages.everyItem().getElements();
for (var i = pages.length - 1; i >= 0; i -= 1) {
if (pages[i].allPageItems.length) {
pages.splice (i, 1);
If I could convert the Array into a Collection, I could do this to remove all of the empty pages at once:
pages.remove();
Is this possible, or am I grasping at straws? Thanks.

What you have now is Photoshop 13.x as per the subscription model (»Abo«) and it's called Photoshop CS6. When Photoshop 14.x is released on June 17, then it will be called "CC".
It's not clear—at least to me—which images, if any, you have selected in Bridge when you hit the »Speichern« (Save) button.
Remember that a Collection is nothing more than a saved search, i.e. a saved collection of selected search results (hits).
Could you elaborate on what it is you want to save as a collection?

add the field whatever u want and lpos = 1 and spos = 1 and check import and export parameter.
where left position when displaying and spos = search position
and then save and activate ..

Hi all,
I have a 2013 farm set up with the App model
1 web application for path based site collection using host name
1 web application with SSL (no host name)
1 web application for mysite
My business request is that I need to migrate SSL enabled 2007 content to this farm and use host name site collections. I tried to create one more web application for this without any luck (the 443 IIS folder is already used by another web application).
I thought I bind the previous 443 web application with another IP address should be fine. Seems like the IIS site is taken (https://server name:443) so it will not let me create one more. How can I solve this problem so I can create the web application
to host those host name site collections? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for your quick reply. I try the option 2 right after your post. I use my front end server name for public URL (https://WFEName:443) and it fails again. The error message is:
The directory C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\443 is already being used by another IIS Web Site. Choose a different root directory for your new Web application.
After reading more, I saw mix Hosted Name Site collection and Path-based site collection aren't recommended. Unfortunately I already have Path-based site collection created with App model web application
(the web application without host name) in my farm. In my Option 2, that web application without host name is used for App routing. This takes the root folder 443 which will not allow any other web application to use the same name again.
Does that mean we can't create Host Named Site collection in the same farm? Is there any configuration I need to check?

This may sound really daft, but someone is trying to create a new Team Site Host Url Site Collection. We have the one Web Application at
http://main and all site collections sit underneath. When we try and create a new Site Collection we have URL set as
http://main/sites. Our new site should be
http://newsite. I tried to remove root and sites from http://main managed paths and you can't do it.
Is it just me, but do you have to create a web application. Create Site collection for that web application and then move to under
http://main like a SharePoint 2010 migration?

John.In that scenario, you would need to create a new Web Application, yes. There is another function called Host-named Site Collections which would get you what you want, but it takes a bit of work:

I am deploying a huge application (requires 45 Minutes to Install, 3 to 5 Restarts), and I need to limit the deployment to 5 computers at a time. Limiting my Network Load and also the availability of the computers in operation as it requires a successive
Restart.
My aim is to "Create" a "Collection" to focus on deploying the software to
5 computers at a time. The collection that limits to 5 computers can help our production environment to focus on the total deployment time without disturbing other computers.
Regards,I would use powershell to do this. Create a Collection with all the computers that should get the application.
Then in powershell - get all the members of that Collection into a variable. Use that variable as a basis for creating new Collection and create some logic that takes 5-10 machines and put those into a new Collection and then takes the next 5-10 machines
and so on.
I guess you could also do it using a combination of Query and Exclude Collections membership rules, but you would have to do it manually. -
The topic says it all (I hope). I am new to 2012 and I have tried to accomplish this feat all day, which includes researching online, but I have had zero success in finding anything helpful.
Obviously I can create "Device Collections" based on the IP Subnets, and I can do a "Direct Rule" in "User Collections" for the desired IP Subnet, but I do not want to do this because I need the results to update if/when
any changes occur during a "scheduled/incremental update".
The only thing I could find for the "User Collections" was this:

Is there a way to Query SCCM (2012) and display the Usernames of computers that login to the (sole) Domain through a specified (or desired) IP Subnet?Why do you want to install software by location for a user? Why do you care?
Why would you want to create a collected of Users with software installed? PCs have the SW install not users so how would you use it?

I was asked to setup these (Device and User Collections) in this manner so we can limit future distributions/deployments of Applications (and/or Packages) and (OS) Images by these groupings. Apparently there will be occasions where deployments will need
to be segmented as such because the company wants to have them grouped in this manner. If there is a better option available than this, which I would not doubt since I am new to SCCM 2012, then I would appreciate the information.
IMO, you need to go back to the person asking and get and better understand of exactly what they want and more importantly why. Making a collection, just in case doesn't make sense.

Can I create and manage collections in itunes instead of on the ipad? I have hundreds (maybe thousands) of PDF files for technical work items that I need to categorize and use on my ipad but it is a bit cumbersome to manually move them one at a time on the ipad.
While you can add pdf files to iTunes it is not really intended to be used for organizing things other than a music collection. It will only accept PDF files and media (audio, movie) files. On the other hand if you can creatively come up with a way to make it work for you then go for it.

Create a Collection of machines missing a single patch MS07-042
Good Morning All,
I am trying to create a collection for all machines missing a single patch. MS07-042. This patch has multiple KB numbers.
I noticed a couple of odd occurances.
1) Console query builder does not expose the Updates classes.
2) Console query builder does expose all the ITMU classes. I am not sure if these are populated with the WSUS information gathered by the WUA.
I did create the following query

1) Is there an easier way to do this?
2) Is there any documentation on what the fields mean in SQL?

I realize this is an old thread, but I just wanted to put in my $0.02 in case someone else stumbles upon it looking for info.
So, the SMS_UpdateComplianceStatus class (cuz we're talking collections here, which is WQL and pulls from WMI classes) is really the equivalent of the v_UpdateComplianceStatus view. So if you want to see what's in that, go to SQL and query it.
Also, if you want to know what the Status field values are, you can find those by looking at the v_StateNames view from SQL too where TopicType = 400 I believe.
State 0 = Unknown
State 1 = Not Required (meaning doesn't have patch and doesn't need it)
State 2 = Not Detected (meaning it doesn't have patch but needs it)
State 3 = Detected (meaning it has this patch)
So, if you want to create a collection of machines that are missing a patch, you could do something like this:

Are you meaning to create sites on SharePoint Online by invoking web services in your own program? SharePoint Online indeed provide some web services for custom programming, however, the web methods for creating a new site seems not included in them. Here

As to create a site collection, the parameter "Template" is the name of the template you want to use, as to find the name of the custom site template, you can use the powershell command "Get-SPOWebTemplate",
it will list all the templates with the names.
Note, The Template and LocaleId parameters must be a valid combination as returned from the Get-SPOWebTemplate cmdlet.

Ability to create a collection from a text file containing the names of the pictures
1 thing that would be very good is the ability to create a collection / quick collection from a text file that contains the names of the picture we want in that collection...
The reason for that is when i receive an order from a customer typicaly 100-200 different pictures (i'm a wedding photographer), i ask my customer to send me an excel spread sheet with all the name or number of the picture thay want with size & quantity...
I would like to be able to use that file as an input for a batch job that would add all those files to a collection "customer order" instaid od adding them 1 by 1... it would save me lots of time and would prevent some errors in the order...
I am currently able to do that with the help of a small utility (Useful File Utility) is the name... with the other RAW converter i use... BibbleWell, it is workflow software, true, but it's really focussed on image development. What you're proposing would necessarily make the primary focus be on the business angle, I suspect.
If you're talking about tools to help customers sit down and pick what they want for manual processing later, that's one thing - but going the rest of the distance to order processing and fulfillment would be out of scope, at least in my view. The reason is that there is just so much room for potential variation in how this gets conducted that I can't see how Adobe could possibly satisfy every pro with one implementation. Even just dealing with all of the possible payment vendors is a hugely problematic area.
I agree with Don; a third-party plugin via the upcoming SDK might be a distinct possibility, particularly if it were for a "plus services" solution in which the plugin were designed to work with a specific fulfillment vendor. THAT could work quite nicely, and the plugin might even be free (in return for giving the vendor your business, of course).
In other words, it's not that I see it as a bad idea, it's just that I don't think it belongs in the "core" of LR. This is something that is best dealt with using the SDK so that differences in processes can be allowed for.
