Can I deploy web service on APEX server

I have APEX 3.1.2 on 11g database.
I need to pull data from other oracle 9i databases into APEX application. I have created web service on my pl/sql package to pull data from 9i databases and deployed service on my local oc4j instance (within jdeveloper). My APEX app pull data from multiple oracle 9i database. Now I need to move my web service to my dev/test environment.
Can I deploy web service on APEX server? or do I need to deploy on another web server?
I know I can easily pull the data from other oracle 9i databases using DB link. I want to explore Web services option to just to see is it possible to pull data from multiple sources into APEX app using web service running from APEX server?.
Any help on this will be appreciated.

I am in the same situation. Consuming a web service is easy with APEX. But publishing one needs a web server that is more complex than the one that comes with APEX for free.
I am exploring the possibility of building the web service in Jdeveloper as you have. Then I will make a WAR file that I will publish to an apache tomcat J2EE server that another department runs. I believe it will work since all the components required should be in the WAR file.
I am new at this. I will let you know how it works out.
The other possibility is to upgrade the appserver to the full Oracle Fusion server (maybe). This may be expensive and be too much for just a simple web service. But then the publish to application server from jdeveloper is super easy.

  • Can't start web services in OSX Server 10.3

    I used the GUI to turn on webDAV on one of my domains and now I can't even start web services.
    For some reason, all of my domains now have multiple alias mappings, redirects, alias matches and redirect matches.
    I have tried to delete the additional mappings from my domains, but everytime I hit save, they rewrite themselves. I deleted the domain in which I activated webDAV and recreated it and the mappings still rewrite themselves.
    Any suggestions as to how to stop the automatic writing of the mappings and get my web services up and running again?

  • (266758030) Can WebLogic Workshop Web Services be deployed on a different Application Server?

    (266758030) Q(asked by Lalit Sudan): Can WebLogic Workshop Web Services be deployed
    on a different Application Server?
    A(by Adam Fitzgerald): .jws files are not yet an accepted standard so you can expect
    that the WebLogic Workshop Web Services cannot be ported to other Application Servers,
    however, it is a general goal to expand the functionality of the Workshop tool for
    other App Servers.

    Just so you'll know Oracle9iAS also includes apache as the HTTP server.
    As Suncan said, if you want to use Forms on the Web you need the Forms Server engine, and it comes bundled in Oracle9iAS. You'll save yourself a lot of headache if you just install Oracle9iAS and have everything pre-configured for you thus reducing maintanance costs.

  • Deploying Web services written in C to Oracle Application Server

    Hello,
    Has anybody got information on deploying a web service written using C & gSoap into Oracle Application Server. I have a web service written in C using the example provided by gSoap and would like to deploy this on Oracle Application Server 10g, and am not sure on how to proceed further.
    Regards,
    Santhosh

    Hi San :)
    I think you need to use mod_soap module in Oracle HTTP server. or you can compile gSOAP web service as CGI-based or FastCGI application and copy the executable to cgi-bin directory in OHS.
    Thanks

  • Please help Installed apex 4.1 on Oracle 11g Xe can't create web services

    I went to Shared Components > Web Service references to create a web services reference using wsdl.
    My webservices are local to my network.
    I do not use proxy. Not using UDDI.
    I enter my WSDL URL but error message is returned
    The WSDL document was unretrievable because either the URL you supplied was invalid, your environment requires a valid proxy server address for HTTP requests and you have not defined one for this application, or a wallet needs to be configured for this instance of Application Express for HTTPS requests
    All I see are
    Amazon Web Services 3.0
    Google API Beta
    Q1. How can I register my wsdl url?
    Q2. How were amazon and google registered?
    Edited by: Oracle Primavera on Oct 4, 2011 5:29 PM

    Ensure that you can ping the web services server.
    Then check whether there is a valid/appropriate acl for the apex_040100 user;
    select * from dba_network_acl_privileges where principal like 'APEX%';
    Refer to Enable Network Services in Oracle Database 11g in the install manual.

  • Can Jdeveloper 10.1.3 deploy web service on OC4J 10.1.2?

    Hi all,
    Can I use jdeveloper 10.1.3 develop, and deploy web service on OC4J 10.1.2? My jdk version is 1.4.2. Thanks in advance.

    We don't have a direct connection from JDev 10.1.3 to OC4J 10.1.2 - we do have a connection to OAS 10.1.2.
    If you want to deploy to a stand alone OC4J 10.1.2 then just create the WAR file in JDeveloper - and then use the OC4J admin interface to deploy the WAR.

  • Can IREP can be utlized to "DEPLOY" web services in 11.5.10

    Hi
    IREP is a wonderful repository of all service endpoints or say compilation of all integrations for Ebiz suite.
    From R12 onwards it even helps deploy web services.
    But I can't seem to understand how in R11.5.10 could IREP help to deploy a web service. If the idea is to access IREP from Jdeveloper within a BPEL or ESB project then that is a separate thing and is recommended.
    In 11.5.10 it appears otherwise IREP just provides a generic WSDL that is not specific to a particular Application instance since irep in 11.5.10 doesn't ship with the install.
    How can one deploy a web service in 11.5.10 from IREP?

    Hi
    You have to read XML gateway documentation to get an idea for this. R11.5.10 gives you a generic WSDL for you to supply to your web service subscribers. I was able to enqueue a message successfully through BPEL by utilizing the WSDL supplied by R11.5.10 instead of using an AQ or Oracle Adapter.
    The functionality of IREP is much more exploited in R12 compared to 11.5.10 and my personal beleif is that from R12 onwards it is of much use. Look at R12 IREP documentation. You will need to log in as sysadmin or with integration repository admin priveledge to deploy the web service but you can see it through other users as long as the resp is assigned to you and you can deploy XML Gateway and Service Beans based web services from with in R12.
    Good Luck

  • Web Service in Apex

    Hi
    I'm using APEX 2.1.0, OracleXE 10.2, Oracle SOA 10.1.3, Jdev 10.1.3.3
    I've created a webservice in jdeveloper based upon a plsql package it has 3 input parameters and return a parameter
    I've deployed the webservice to my SOA apps server and tested it satisfactorily
    I've then created the web service reference in APEX using the shared components utility and it appears to create the reference ok (based upon the WSDL without searching UDDI), this correctly shows the operation and input and output parameters whilst it is created via the wizard
    I've then tried to create a form based upon the web service in APEX, it shows the operation but it does not show the input parameters it gives the mesage "no data found"
    has anyone else had this problem?
    has anyone got any suggestions?
    thanks
    Andrew

    Jason
    Thanks for this, I've tried to upgrade my APEX to 3.01 using the instructions identified it ran for 9hrs before I killed it I assume that there are some things I need to do on my XE database or my machine is not powerful enough, or something else is awry (not found any other posts on the forum indicating anyone else having a problem with the upgrade so I assume its me!)
    However I have now managed to access another oracle 10g instance that does have Apex 3.01 and I have now successfully built my application on the web services generated in Jdeveloper
    again thanks

  • Web Service in APEX - read from SYS_REFCURSOR -

    Hi,
    I created a package in the database 10g to give a result with multiple lines:
    PACKAGE BODY "PKEMPLOYEES" AS
    function getEmployees(p_dept_id number) return SYS_REFCURSOR
    as
    p_return_cur SYS_REFCURSOR;
    BEGIN
    OPEN p_return_cur FOR
    'Select first_name from employees where department_id=' || p_dept_id;
    return p_return_cur;
    end getEmployees;
    END;
    Then, with the JDeveloper (10.1.3), I have deployed the package as a web service in OC4J Standalone and I used Jpublisher:
    jpub -user hr/hr -sysuser sys/orclbd
    -proxywsdl=http://144.22.197.113:8888/appEmp-ProjEmp-context-root/MyWSEmpSoapHttpPort?WSDL
    -proxyopts=tabfun -httpproxy=(removed proxy - on our hosted instance, you cannot use web services)
    -endpoint=http://144.22.197.113:8888/appEmp-ProjEmp-context-root/MyWSEmpSoapHttpPort
    -plsqlpackage=pkWSEmp -dir=wsEmp
    And, in APEX 2.2, I have tried to use the web service but there is an error:
    ORA-20001: env:Clientcaught exception while handling request: unexpected element name: expected={http://hr/MyWSEmp.wsdl/types/}getemployeesXMLRowSetElement, actual={http://hr/MyWSEmp.wsdl}getemployeesXMLR
    I think that the APEX don't recognize the SYS_REFCURSOR, but I don't know the way to resolve this.
    Any ideas??
    Thank you all,
    Carla Diogo

    Hi,
    What I really pretend is to have a web service that give me the result of a query. The result is multiple lines of a table. I want to call it from APEX to view the result.
    What I don't know how to do is the best way to have multiple line result from a web service, in APEX 2.2.
    I need to call the web service from the database and then call the procedure in APEX? There is any type (with multiple line) that I can use on the web service that is recognized by APEX?
    I'm new in this...
    Thank you

  • How to deploy web service as part of console.war

    Hello,
    I need to expose the deploy functionality of bpel console as web service. I see that there is a JSP page which pretty much does the same thing in console.war. So I know what my Java class is going to look like the problem is I am very new to OC4J so I don't know how to deploy it as web service on this container. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    I tried going through the tutorial on deploying web services on OC4J but the sample stateless class does not compile because it cannot find some proxy classes. Also next I copied ws_example.ear in 'D:\OraBPEL_1\bpel\system\appserver\oc4j\j2ee\home\applications' and restarted server but it is not deployed.
    Thank you,

    Thank you for replying to my post.
    The requirement is that we deploy BPEL suitcase remotely. My impression was that one can get handle to the Locator object only if running on local machine so I was looking at how to create web service on Oracle BPEL PM itself that will accept the stream of jar and deploy it locally.
    However now looking at this tutorial and the Java docs, I know it supports RMI calls. So I can use this constructor to get Locator instance -
    public Locator(java.lang.String domainId,
    java.lang.String password,
    java.util.Hashtable pInitialContextProperties)
    throws ServerException
    Can you let me know sample initial context properties? I checked the sample InvokingProcesses' context.properties
    orabpel.platform=oc4j_10g
    java.naming.factory.initial=com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory
    java.naming.provider.url=ormi://ca-guru/orabpel
    java.naming.security.principal=default
    java.naming.security.credentials=welcome1
    My guess is I have to change that url but I don't know where to point it. Also could you please let me know what are the jars I will need on the client side?
    Thank you. I appreciate your help.

  • Change/Configure Host and Port for the Web Service Proxy with Server

    Hi,
    Is there a way to configure Host and Port in generated proxy for Web service depending upon server. (ADF 11g)
    Scenario:
    We are consuming Credit Card web service from a service provider and have different Host and Port details for development, QA and Prod.
    So we created proxy classes using wsdl for development and things work fine, but when deploying code to QA or Prod we need to change the Host
    and Port details.
    Is their a way we could user variable's for Host and Port which looks to some configuration file to evaluate their values
    based on server.
    I am a bit new to this web service .. will appreciate if someone could provide an example.
    Thanks.

    Are you using Web Service Proxy or Web Service Data Control?
    If you are using Web Service Proxy. Right click on your Proxy --> Properties --> Port Endpoints. Here you can change the IP & Port details for each port.
