Can I force Oracle Forms to run in browser?

Hi,
I have a client, who has Oracle Forms based application. I only have information from second hand, but I understand she opens the browser and new Java applet window (outside of browser) is opened, where that application runs.
I also have a Web monitoring solution, which simulates end-user actions and which is using Internet Explorer engine to do that. However this application can monitor only website, meaning if there is a Java applet running IN the browser it can be monitored.
Unfortunately this Oracle forms based app runs as a standalone applet in its own window.
Is it possible to force that application run in browser in any way? Or is it necessary to change the code to achieve that?

Yes! it's possible. in your formsweb.cfg file, under your configuration settings there is a parameter named bellow set it value to false

In Oracle Forms, to run all the When-Validate-Item of all the items at once

In Oracle Forms, is there any built-in / procedure / function which is used to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of all the Items at once ?
I will put it in detail :
When a form is run and while entering the data..
when we enter some data and try to move out of that item then the When-Validate-Item trigger of that item is fired and the code in that trigger is executed..
Similarly there may be many items and many When-Validate-Item triggers correspondigly in a form..
My requirement is to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of a form at once when we click a button which is created for that purpose only..
So is there any built-in / procedure / function (to run all the When-Validate-Item triggers of all the items), which can be called in the When-Button-Pressed trigger of that particular button..
If any one having any solution/suggestion, please let me know..

Thanks for your suggestion..
The validations should be done at Item level (When-Validate-Item as usually) and seperately again when a button is pressed.
So to put all the code in another block-level When-Validate-Item trigger or in any When-Button-Pressed trigger will be duplication of the code.
Actually I have around 30 Fmbs to be modified and each Fmb is having around 20 Items and almost all Items are having When-Validate-Item trigger.
So,I wanted to know whether there is any Built-in / Procedure in Oracle Forms which runs all the When-Validate-Item triggers once it is called.

Can't open Oracle Form(version 9.0.4)

Can't open Oracle Form(version 9.0.4) because show alert FRM-18122: Form Builder Debugger failed to Initialize.

Found in metalink:
"Set the CLASSPATH to the FORMS90_BUILDER_CLASSPATH did resolves the problem or look that the FORMS90_BUILDER_CLASSPATH is shorter as 512 Characters"

I am so confused with weblogic and forms 11g that i don't know nothing at all looll :)
Someone told me that to start oracle forms i need to this
[oracle@biz ~]$./startManagedWebLogic.sh WLS_FORMS
This scripts asks for a password and that's annoying... and it just stays waiting there.. i mean does not stay running in background... So if i finish my ssh session it will shutdown...
Today at oracle support they told me that i still can start forms with OPMN using opmnctl as we use to do in 10g... Is this possible? Does anyone here have a startup script for forms and reports 11g under linux? How do you guys start forms and reports?

with just opmnctl we cant run Forms I believe, we need to have WLS_FORMS also running ..
Forms requires ohs or wc to be up and running along with WLS_FORMS , thats is what is my understanding ..

Can I connect Oracle Forms Builder 10g to MS Access Database

I have Oracle forms builder installed in my PC. I downloaded the Oracle Database Server from the oracle website and installed that as well. But due to the installation of Database server, my system has become very slow. In order to avoid this I wanted to know if I can connect the forms builder to MS Access Database.
Also, using ODBC I have created a database in my D:\ drive.
If using MS access as a database is possible, then kindly guide me how to proceed with it.

I have been working on Oracle forms from the past 1 year. I wanted to increase my expertise at the subject so thought I'll install it at my home and then try out developing and running a few small forms. So, in order to do this I downloaded and installed Developer Suite and database server. After installing the database server the system became very slow, as I mentioned earlier. Once I uninstalled the server, my system speed was back to normal. My system configuration is:
512 MB ram, Intel Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz processor, Windows XP service pack 3,1 CPU.
My requirement is very minimal. I just want a simple database where I can create tables, store data and connect form. If you have a have any other suggestion for my requirement then kindly help me in this regard.
In the meantime I'll act on your suggestion and try and install the XE server.

That's what I thought re the url but I can't find out what it is, it briefly appears in the browser but then goes leaving me with the formsweb.cfg config url. I am running from the Builder on Windows 2000 and it's Forms 10g.

Oracle Forms 10g run time problem

Hello.
I installed Oracle Dev 10g and I'm trying to use Oracle Forms.
I configured all files like this:

1. Install the Jinitiator
location: <devsuitehome>/jinit/jinit.exe
2. edit the following files:
a. <devsuitehome>/forms90/server/default.env
where you set forms90_path=add your path to your library files (*.pll)
b. <devsuitehome>/forms90/server/formsweb.cfg
where you set workingDirectory=path to your *.fmx files
3. at Forms Builder go to Edit/Preferences/Runtime
then at the Application Server URL click "Reset to Default"
4. before attempting to run your forms, run "Start OC4J Instance" first
start/programs/oracle developer suite/forms developer/start oc4j instance
After this, when I try to run the form, I don't get any error, but the browser opens and does nothing! Some times appears a small form to acces the data base, other don't, but it always stops!!
Any ideas?!?

Might also be worth turningon the Jinit console (you can do this from your windows Control Panel). And set the trace level to 5 (just press 5 when the jinit console appears).
Then check error messages.

Can you "debug" a form when running on the App. Server?

We recently got a project to do defect fixing of a Oracle Forms 10g application.
They have given us each developer a VM with an app. server, source code etc.
Problem is, we cannot run the form using the Form Builder.
They want us to always make changes to the form, deploy in the app. server and run the form using the Application Menu.
Problem is, how can we do line-by-line debugging in a situation like this?
Normally, we would press the "Run form debug" button to run the form in Forms developer in debug mode.
What is the solution?
Should we ask the owners to give us permission to run the form from Developer?
Or, is there way to do debugging a form when running from app. server?

Because Forms doesn't know how to load the object so it is prompting you to open it. However, since the Forms debugger can't read the source of the database program unit (procedure, package, function) - you can't debug it from Forms. At least, I've never been able to do it and I've tried making Forms open a source file for a database program unit. It basically boils down to the fact that Oracle Forms can only debug objects that are within the scope of the Forms runtime/builder and database program units are not contained within the Forms objects (eg; Forms binary, PL/SQL Library or Menu Module binary). Oracle forms 11g running forms on internet explorer error

Hi , this is abhishek I am new to oracle forms 11g . My question is that when I run the forms 11g on internet explorer it shows an error . The error is too many tries.
first I like to clarify that before running the forms i start the weblogic server ,along with admin server for weblogic and opmn managed components, i give the user name and password to start the weblogic server, everything starts smoothly . even I have jre 1_6_29 installed to start the servlet . Main problem starts when the java runs the internet explorer browser then a box appears asking for user name and password and database connect string , then after putting the username and password it again asks for the username and password.It happens three times and after that an error appears in a dialog box which shows too many tries . I also checked the net configuration asistant with the local net service name configuration there it shows the service name which is orcl.Home and then TCP --->Host name is localhost with 1521 as standard port number --> yes perform the test and the result is written connecting test successful . what is wrong with the instance , the http listener is working perfectly then why this error is coming, is there something to do with the browser , but the browser is supporting java very well .. please help

I have found the file but it does not have any path except forms_path,oracle_home,webutil_config,etcCurious, my default.env had the following default TNS_ADMIN entry:

Can I use Oracle Forms Services 11g with Database 9.2.0.8.0?

Hi everyone.
My department is evaluating development tools in order to build new web applications, and also possibly to migrate current applications buit with Oracle Forms 6.0.5.34.0. Our database is Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit.
We have read that the newest Oracle Forms version is Oracle Forms Services 11g. Is Oracle Forms Services 11g compatible with Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit? or would we have to migrate our RDBMS to Oracle 11g?
If our database is compatible, what would we need to develop and deploy applications with Oracle Forms Services 11g?

Wheter it's compatible or not: Database 9.2.0.8 is in sustaining support which means you won't get patches for it. So even if it is compatible I'd opt to upgrade to a newer version, as I wouldn't feel comfortable having a not-supported product out in production.

I was installing it on my laptop to try
and I was hosting it on localhost at 127.0.0.1
Forms working good can show and insert dates
into example table related with Forms.
But when I put URL over 127.0.0.1 IP from internet
(http://77.111.222.123:8889/forms90/f90servlet) there were
only confirm info bout installation Forms?
How can user (client) from another location catch this form
in functional reason?

I don't know about discoverer. Be aware that if you are installing discoverer or portal it wants a database to put the repository in.
so then you would have to install xe also?
Note: if the development machines do not have static ip numbers the software has some fragilities regarding that. I can't say I understand how
it works. But you definitely need to figure out what needs to go in the hosts file and whether it needs a ms loopback adapter or not before
you set a number of people off to install this. This gave me the all time most trouble for installing on a < 2008/7 machine. On any machine make sure there are no parentheses in the path as that will be a fatality scenario.

It's possible to store any file in a database as a blob. The steps are the same for a FMX as it is for any other type of file.

However, if you are doing this because you want to use Forms Builder to to query the database for a form and run it, then that may not be possible.
