I have norton's password manager which i use many times per session. It is not supported by MF 4.0. I really need to go back to the previous version.

Seems silly to not allow a rollback from a file repository of previous app versions.

I'm not sure I follow, I have not sync'd the ipad with my computer. I just saw an update in the app store and took it.
I tried to del and install the app from the purchased tab in the app store, that reinstalled v2.1 of the app. This also fails to launch.

Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Plugins and disable the following: 
* Fun Web Products Plugin 
* My Web Search 
Both of these are adware/spyware and cause performance issues in Firefox.
Next, click the Extensions menu link (above Plugins where you are) and remove the "Ask Toolbar".
If the problem persists, please do the following:

- iPad: older versions as iPad2 should not upgrade to iOS7/8 (it's not supporting its hardware accordingly, it's designed for the latest hardware)

What method of internet do you have.. is this fibre install.. if so the TC should just plug in and use dhcp in router mode.. press and hold the reset and it will go back to router mode by default.

Go to your actual realplayer (program), click the top right button (Realplayer with an downwards arrow) and update your software. Make sure Firefox is closed while you do this.

Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the about:config page.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

Why is my computer now slower, with Firefox 4, then it was with previous version? It stops and crashes constantly. How can I go back to the previous version?

When I am on Facebook or playing a game, it will freeze and I have to hit control alt delete, to get any response. Within a couple more seconds the same problem occurs. I did not have this problem with the previous version.

I tried so hard with FF4 but no deal. It was considerably MUCH slower than 3.6. Every page just had a 2~3 second wait before it loaded up. This was tested on a brand new Windows 7 64-bit install machine too.
Flash ran much more cpu intensive as well. I played many flash based games in 3.6 and my cpu usage was never always as it was with FF4 in the 90%-100% range.
I had to get rid of it due to the slowness and the lack of older plugin support: ANYCOLOR which I must run and cannot stand the light colored menu pop ups. Also the buttons in FF4 are worse than 3.6. You can't see them when you have a persona applied.
Staying with 3.6 until 4 speeds up or will give 4.1 a try.

I don't have any details. The Question explains it all. We just upgraded from 1.5 Mbps to 18 Mbps download speed and webpages opened really quick until I downloaded and installed Firefox 4. I have Internet Explorer 9, but I do not use it. I would just like to go back to the most current previous version of Firefox and keep my settings and bookmarks to see if webpages still load as slow as they are loading now. You are welcome. There has never been a need to move that one before, but try it since you can always put it back.
If the same, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.
