hi gurus.
as above I'm needing to concat several fields into one for outout into a report but the OPP is saying it won't let me..
"Caused by: oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XPathException: Error in expression: './/address_line1||', '|| address_line2||'," etc etc ..
how can I get round this?

It'd be all too easy to follow that up with a cheapshot making reference to how many Christmas cards you have to send, but I'll rise above that and explain that some of us might want to use this for business contacts and have 300+ cards to address.
It is a shame that the printing feature from Address Book is so close, yet so far from performing this simple task. It is a shame that Pages can run mail merge, but only for one record per page (which is useless for label printing). It is also a shame that MS Word for Mac does proper labels but doesn't recognise Address Book as a datasource.
These things are all a shame because with Apple's software, you rather expect things to "just work", as per their advertising, and when very simple things don't "just work", it difficult not to feel cheated.

1. Double-click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop.
2. Locate your iPod in the window that appears and select it.
3. Choose Folder Options from the Tools menu in the My Computer window.
4. Click the View tab in the Folder Options window that appears.
5. Look for the Hidden Files and Folders entry. Below this entry enable the Show Hidden Files and Folders option and click Apply to reveal the hidden files.
6. Dismiss the Folder Options windows by clicking the OK button.
7. Double-click the iPod’s icon in the My Computer window.
8. Move to the Finder and double-click on the iPod’s icon on the Desktop.
You’ll discover that several more items now appear in the iPod window. Among them is a folder called iPod_Control.
9. Double-click the iPod_Control folder.
Inside the iPod_Control folder you’ll find the Device, iTunes, and Music folders along with the iPodPrefs file.
10. Drag the Music folder to your Mac’s Desktop to copy it to your computer.
As the name implies, this is where music is stored on the iPod.
11. Return to iTunes and drag the Music folder you just copied to iTunes’ main window.
The songs you copied from the iPod will be added to iTunes. If you’re a tidy type, before copying those files to iTunes, open iTunes’ preferences, click the Advanced tab, and make sure the Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized and Copy File to iTunes Music Folder When Adding to Library options are enabled. Enabling these options will organize your iTunes library in the way iTunes prefers.

I was certainly not flaming anyone. I was asking specific clarifying questions in an attempt to assist someone who's description of the problem was inadequate for me (and apparently anyone else) to make any recommendations. Even your interpretation really doesn't give enough information to really be useful. The country from which a file is downloaded shouldn't be relevant. If it is, we need to figure out what's different about it.
All in all, the post was kind of analogous to saying "My car used to work and now it doesn't". An accurate statement as far as it goes but not sufficient for a mechanic to even know where to start.
I am looking forward to hearing your possible solution to the problem.

I want to sort out all mu music on my ipod and start fresh, but i want to keep all my music. Is there a way of putting music from my ipod into my iTunes library? I understand that if there is music on my ipod then i mustve put it on there from the library but i dont think i did! iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
With your iPod connected, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPod.
If you had Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPod sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading a song from the iTunes store direct with your iPod, the song would be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPod with iTunes after doing so.
Manually managing music and videos is manual all the way.

Firefox crashes a few times when I was on Facebook and with email, also watching dramas online. Most of the time due to Adobe Flash and I did submit crash report. Later it crashes for unknown reason while I have email and Facebook on different tabs -- when I was on the tab of email, it looks system hang and not responding. This happened to my laptop that uses Windows Vista as I noticed. I don't remember it ever happens to my desktop that uses Windows XP.
It's pretty annoying of such known crash, but before removing Firefox, I did try to update all add-ons or plugins and it looks like doesn't work out. After updating for couple times and it still crashed like that, I removed Firefox and reinstall it.

How can I put my emix files back into mail.

I've trawled the forums and think I've tried all suggestions. My mail froze when collecting mail and on restart the messages were in the viewer window but when double clicked they came up with the message about them not been downloaded from the server. I then rebuilt the mailbox and all messages disappeared apart from one. The messages however, were in the correct folder as emix files, which can be read when double clicking on them. I've tried copying them into a new folder, I've tried putting the messages folder in a new folder xxxx.mbox and when I try to import it goes through the motions (quickly) and says it can be retrieved in import 5, which doesn't exist, and if I drag the xxxx.mbox folder into the mailboxes folder in my hom/librarymail it appears on the tree but doesn't show any contents, even when rebuilt. I have 10,000 messages in this mailbox. I have subsequently got a new MacBook Pro and even starting from scratch the problem remains - any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Will

The problem is probably that the index is corrupt and you need to completely re-create it rather than rebuilding individual mailboxes. I have no idea what the situation really is now after having tinkered with the contents of ~/Library/Mail/, though, so the following procedure may or may not work.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

You could use QuickTime Pro to export your file to DV Stream. This .dv file will work with any version of iMovie.
Because your .3gp file has small dimensions the export will resize it and image quality will suffer.

You need to convert the std::vector<std::string> into a sequence of bytes. For example, if all strings are shorter than 256 characters, you could create a fresh output string, iterator through the vector, and for each element, append the string length to the output string, followed by the string contents.
Note that ordering in the database will be different from lexicographic order, and you have to keep that in mind when performing range queries.

You need to put the image on a server somewhere, like a .mac account. You can either provide a link to the image, or embed the link in HTML so this web page will load it from the designated server.

Can I put more than one statement into a Condition in TestStand

I'm trying to learn to use the Conditional statement in more than it's simplest form and I have 2 questions:
Question 1:
For instance simple statement is:
Locals.nValue=(Locals.Compare>5) ? 1 : 2
However, I want to do 2 things in the Condition
Locals.nValue=(Locals.Compare>5) ? 1,Locals.sString = "Yes" : 2, Locals.sString = "No"
But, this doesn't work (using the comma separator). Is there a way to put 2 statements into the conditional case?
Question 2:
For a series:
Locals.nValue=(Locals.Compare>5) ? 1 : Locals.nValue
Locals.nValue=(Locals.Compare<=5)? 2 : Locals.nValue
Also, is there a way to do NOTHING in the Else? (The folowing was suggested in the TestStand class that I took but
it doesn't work:
Locals.nValue=(Locals.Compare>5 ? 1 : NOTHING
This makes "Locals.nValue" = Nothing and I find that I can't leave the "False" condition blank.

You can do this like this:
Locals.nValue=(Locals.Compare>5) ? (Locals.sString = "Yes", 1) : (Locals.sString = "No", 2)
By using the parethesis, the parser assumes that last element in the list is the final value to be "returned".
2) There is no way to do nothing in a conditional assignment. You wanted to do this:
Locals.nValue=(Locals.Compare>5 ? 1 : NOTHING
You have to assign the orginal value back to the target, like this:
Locals.nValue=(Locals.Compare>5) ? 1 : Locals.nValue

Thanks, but impractical. Many of the folders have more than 500 emails. Total is about 2 GB (which I have free on iCloud btw)
I tried creating a folder "Archive" in my iCloud, then tried dragging one iMac folder into the new "iCloud > Archive" folder on my iMac. I got the error message:
