Can I rename and move a catalog?

I recently made a full backup of my LR2 catalog, (18,000 photos) which was on my PC, and transferred it to my new Mac. When I made the backup, I accidentally included a folder of personal photos, which I would have preferred to be a second catalog.
So, I just exported the entire folder of personal photos as a new catalog. All went well. I then deleted the photos from the original catalog. Now, I have two catalogs one is named "Personal Photos" and the other is named "Full Backup." Well, that won't do.
I'd like to rename the "Full Backup" catalog to something more descriptive of the work stuff included. Also, both catalogs are in the Pictures folder, but they follow different paths afterwards. The Backup catalog is under pictures > Lightroom Catalog > Full Backup > Photos > (then the various sub folders). The Personal Photo Catalog is under Pictures > Lightroom > Personal Photos.
Is there a way to rename the Full backup and then move both catalogs so they take essentially the same path?

Steve, you have to remember that LR's works as a database - anything you do (move etc) within LR will be recognised whilst anything done outside of LR causes it a headache lol. So if you start shifting/dragging folders around outside of LR the links will be lost, lots of question marks will appear in the corner of your images and you'll then have the laborious process of telling LR where the images are now to be found.
Within LR's library (left hand panel) you can right click and rename folders if you want and these will also be renamed in the OS's folder structure. The same applies to moving folders - just hold down with the left mouse button and drag the folders to where you want to.
So in short, DO NOT drag within Finder if you want to spare yourself and LR a headache but instead do the dragging from within LR itself which will also be reflected in finder.

I did find an error log related to the error code and tried all suggestions on the list of recommendations, still no luck
I definitely am running OS X10.5.8 (hopefully will be updating later on this month)
I tried several brand new discs from the same box, still no luck.
My last option is to go out and try a different brand, guess I'll go with Verbatim this time but I think I'll poke around some more before buying 20 more new discs.

Use something such as OmniDiskSweeper (my favorite) or Grand Perspective to find out where large files may be. iCloud isn't going to help much if you've so much data that it won't fit on a 1TB drive. Sounds as if it's time to either buy another drive or at least an external with more space.

How can I find and correct corrupt Catalog files on Elements 9?

I was trying to create a simple slideshow with sound when first my computer warned of low memory (something that doesn't seem plausible), and then Photoshop Elements 9 and the associated organizer crashed. When I brought it back, several photos were "grayed out" and my organizer is completely frozen. The error suggests that there are corrupt files. I tried to follow the instructions on the website, but cannot find any sort of Catalog menu or means of changing anything in the catalog or organizer as indicated in the troubleshooting and restoration instructions. Any use of the organizer is frozen.
What am I missing? Thanks to all for your ideas.

If you start up organizer while holding down the shift key, that should take you to the catalog manager where you can repair and optimize your catalog.

In Acrobat XI, how can I select and move multiple text/image blocks simultaneously on the same page?

I work with student-generated PDFs that require all content to be within a specific margin range. Occasionally tables and figures are indented or otherwise spaced incorrectly so that the content violates the margin requirements. In Acrobat X, I could use the select tool to draw a select box around all of the text and lines within a table, for example, and just slide the entire table over a bit to meet the requirements without sending the PDF back to the author for a correction. This didn't always work, but often enough that I was able to use it on a daily basis.
Is there a way to select multiple (but not ALL) text blocks and image pieces on a page, so they may be moved simultaneously? If I have to select every text block and line (or every point and line within a graph) and move them each individually, this is going to be a nightmare.
I have Acrobat XI for both Mac and Windows, but tend to use the Windows version more often.

Hey, I'm using Acrobat XI and I can't multi select like I use too do with shift as always. Now I get a green note every time I want to multi select with shift + click as always. I also use Pitstop and I get the same green notes.

Rename and move files on remote FTP server

Hello,
We have a scenario where XI transfers a file to a remote FTP server at partner end using File Receiver Communication channel.
These files are huge,so there is a risk of picking up incomplete files at their end when XI is still writing the file on their server.
Hence,we have decided to follow the approach which is already mentioned a number of times on SDN that XI would place a file with different name and in a different folder on partner's FTP server.
This would then be renamed and moved to the required folder on the same server.
This could easily be managed using a script at partner end but there are some problems when they are not able to do this.
Is there a possibility to achieve this using 'Run OS command after Message Processing' in XI when Source and target folders both are on partner's FTP server?
If yes,can anybody please provide code for such a script and corresponding setting for this parameter in XI Communication channel?

Instead,in SAP documentation,I found a parameter :
ftp.putSafe=YES|NO
Use this specification to define whether a transferred file is first created with a temporary name and only renamed once the transfer is complete (YES), or whether it is created with its final name at the start of the transfer (NO). The latter case can lead to problems if an application on the FTP server accesses the file before the transfer is complete. If you specify YES, this problem is avoided because the file only becomes visible with the search name when the transfer is complete.
The default value is NO.
Doesn't it serve the same purpose?Do we still need to write scripts?
I have tried to include this in Additional Parameters in Advanced Mode as:
ftp.putSafe YES
but I can't check in test system whether it is really working or not.I would like to confirm if it helps.

Can't drag and move objects

Using the Selection tool, i can select any object, but i can't click hold and drag it to a different position, like i usually can. I can click on one sides, or corners, and scale it just fine. I can also select it, right click, transform, move, enter a value and move it, i just can't click and drag it.
All layers are unlocked, all objects are unlocked. This must be some hidden lock feature that somehow got enabled.
Any idea how to fix it lol?

Nope, I did not.
However, i just rebooted my computer, reopened the document, and the problem went away. So i guess it was just some sort of a glitch at the time, I had actually fully closed Illustrator prior to this post, then reopened, and it didn't fix it.
I think there is some random stability issue with my machine, it has reared its ugly head before in other areas. I can't even print from adobe reader because the graphics come all garbled out :-/. I've yet to reinstall it.

I'm trying to make an interactive animation where when the user clicks and moves the mouse around an area, the opacity of that part of the layer decreases and the user gets to see the background layer. It's similar to the idea of using a brush to clean a dirty window.
Can anyone advise on what is the best way to tackle this? Any help is much appreciated!

How can I delete and move up instead of down?

When I delete an entry the next entry below the one I deleted appears. I would rather have the next entry above the one I deleted appear. This is because I start at the bottom of my undeleted entries and move up my list. How can I do this? Many Thanks, TM

Can I Rename and Save a Custom White Balalnce?

I use a device called a WhiBal...a sort of graycard...to gauge the temperature of light in a given scene when shooting RAW and then use the eyedropper in the Develop module to get the custom white balance right.
Can I then rename and save (or, assign a name to and save) these custom settings?
If I could I would have, for example, WBs named 'bkyrd a.m. sun' or 'brkfst rm nite' or such.

Lee Jay means in the left hand Develop Preset panel. Can't save Custom WB settings that will show in the WB list, just in case you were wondering that.

What can I take and move to my external HD?

I have a 60 gig external HD and I wanted to know what can I copy and what should I copy on to my HD?

I have to agree with Troy. If you're going to back up anything back up your User folder. That's the stuff that's going to be hard to replace if something goes wrong.
I have a 250GB and clone the whole drive on it. If something goes haywire I can replace it with exactly the same thing that was on the drive before I messed it up but honestly that's just laziness on my part. I could do just as well backing up my User folder and replacing it if need be.
Of course this assumes you haven't move stuff around a lot. Typically the default save location for files is your document folder and if you don't save there then you'll have to include the folder you save stuff to to make sure you're not leaving anything behind.
