Can I restore my mac os x 10.5.8 using the mac os x 10.6 install dvd

I'm using a macbook white with the mac os x 10.5.8. now my macbook can no longer open finder and any of my application. I heard that the only way to solve this is to restore it. Now my brother has the mac os x 10.6 installation disc but I'm not sure if I could restore it using that installation disc. Please let me know. Or if you can help solve this finder problem, it would be better

Black retail disks work on other Macs but grey disks supplied with Macs only work on that model.
With a grey disk you may be able to install on the correct Mac and clone it to another Mac with Carbon Copy Cloner.

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?... or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?

Be careful, when you connect the iPhone to your mac, unless you have saved the photos. Synced photos may easily be accidentally deleted by syncing again. And do not enable iCloud Photo Library (Beta), that will erase synced photos as well. Synced Photos are not included in the device backups.
Set your iTunes Preferences to "Devices > Prevent iPos, iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically". Otherwise iTunes may launch and sync your iPhone with an empty iPhoto library the moment you connect it.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to sync the synced photos back. Apple recommends to mail them back, but that would be a lot of clicking (iTunes: Syncing photos - Apple Support). You could also share them to a Shared Album, but a third party app like TD recommended, will be better.

In order to be cross platform you must be using the Open Type version of all fonts to cause the least disruption. Macs can read and process the Windows .ttf type format but PCs can't process Mac formatted type. Most recent versions also cannot use the older PS Type 1 fonts.

Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, I'm still a bit confused by what you mean by "save the file". Which file are you referring to? Perhaps it would help if I explained a bit more about what I'm trying to do.
I want to print out the list of bookmarks that are displayed in the sidebar, which are organised into folders such as "music", "travel" "most visted" etc etc, so that I get a printed list of all the sites I have bookmarked, including the ones in each of the folders.
In Internet Explorer, I can do this by exporting the list to a file and then printing out that file, but I can't find any similar export command in Firefox.

How can I install drivers for bootcamp without using the mac install dvd?

I installed windows 7 in bootcamp on my mac. I put the drivers on a FAT format usb stick so they should be installed while the windows installation was running. The most things are working on windows like the i-sight-camera. The problem is that the microphone doesn´t work so I look for a solution for 3 days, no result. Normally, you use the mac install dvd to install the necessary drivers but windows doesn´t want to read the dvd. And yes, you can download the drivers on the apple platform, but that doesn´t help me at all.

You didn't install Boot Camp drivers. It looks like you downloaded these drivers > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173
Those drivers are only for the graphic card and Bluetooth, not anything else, so you have to download the Boot Camp drivers on OS X and install them in Windows

I'm also having this problem.
In fact two things have stopped working with my iPhone recently.
1. iTunes no longer launches automatically when I plug in my iPhone to my iMac.
2. The iPhone Notes app has stopped syncing via USB lead between the iPhone and the iMac.
I have tried closing applications, and rebooting both the iPhone and iMac, but this makes no difference.
I'm running OS X 10.6.8 on my iMac.
My iPhone is a 3G running iOS 4.2.1

No. I tried it on my Time Machine (I had just made one change today, so I knew I would not be left in the lurch if I failed) and when I clicked on restore I got this message:
