can I store photos and music in I cloud and relieve space on my hard drive?

No, iCloud is not a storage device, try Dropbox or Sugarsync.

    How cam I do this?

You can't. If you want to delete photos from the iPhone, import your photos using a computer.

When finished editing click File->Save/Save As and you can either overwrite the original file or rename it and save as new file keeping original intact.
You can find more info on saving and various settings here http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshopelements/using/WS287f927bd30d4b1f89cffc612e28adab65-7 fda.html#WS287f927bd30d4b1f89cffc612e28adab65-7fd7

  • HT4914 Once I upload my music library to the Cloud can I then remove it from my computer to free up space on the hard drive?

Once I upload my music library to the Cloud can I then remove it from my computer to free up space on the hard drive?

iTunes Match does not allow streaming to a computer.
If you want to utilize the media on the computer, it must physically be on the computer.
Also, if syncing media from the computer to an iDevice, the media must be physically on the computer to sync.  Removing that media from the computer will remove it from the iDevice it is synced with.
iTunes Match is not a backup and should not be utilized as single storage for content.

  • If I bring in photos from Iphoto, am I using more disk space on my hard drive. I dont want to duplicate my entire file. I have 26000 photos in I photo.

You have to duplicate the photos unless you want to use PSE as the external editor for iphoto. In iphoto, your photos are stored in a proprietary library, which should never be messed with by programs other than iphoto. Writing to the iphoto library from outside iphoto is the fastest way to corrupt it and lose all the pics it contains.
So you can either set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from within iphoto, or you must export the photos from iphoto to be able to use them outside that program.

  • HT203512 Got my iPad air replaced guy in store said my music was in cloud and it wouldn't be a problem to transfer over.turns out it is cause I had updated my system since then and my entire music Is

I Got my iPad air replaced because it had problems connecting to the wifi.
the guy in the Apple Store said my music library was stored in the cloud and would be easily restored.
the problem is the new iPads operating system was updated there for couldn't retrieve my stored music I was livid I have an old pc
that took me ages to get the full music library on in the first place and don't really want to go down that route again.
please if you can give me any advice to get my library on my iPad from the cloud please help.....

There are two ways to sync music across your computers and devices (e.g., iPads, iPhones).
One (the "traditional" method) is to connect a cable between the PC or Mac and the device, open iTunes, and sync all or some of your music.
The cloud method requires an iTunes Match subscription ($25/year in the US, £22/year in UK). With this method, you sign up, and all your iTunes music is copied up to the cloud, where it then becomes available on all devices. If you stop the subscription you lose cloud access to the music - however, you should keep a copy of the music in its original location (e.g., the PC you started with), or download everything from the cloud to another authorized computer, to keep a local copy just in case. If you're not sure whether or not you have an iTunes Match subscription active, check your emails from Apple, or just try to sign into iTunes Match on the iPad (Settings - iTunes - iTunes Match) and see if it lets you.
"Device backup" is a separate thing from "syncing". You can back up an iPad to a computer or to iCloud. Much of your information is backed up - however, it does NOT include music. If the Apple representative told you that an iCloud backup would restore your music, he was mistaken.
I don't know if that helps you

  • How can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer or hard drive. My old computer died and I want to get my photos onto my new computer. Thanks in advance.

HOw can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer? My old computer died with my photos on it but I want to move my photo library from my iPad or iPod to the computer I just bought. Thanks for any help you can give.

Sorry but your iPhoto library is not on an iPad or iPod - you may have photos there (most likely low resolution copies) but not an iPhoto library - dying computers (along with software and human errors) are why you always must have a backup - now is the time to load it

  • My pictures and music from a dead Imac are on an external hard drive. My Windows 8 sees the hard drive but not the data. How do I get the files to my PC?

    this is confusing

    Hi Bob.
I was actually confused in trying to navigate where to ask the question in the first place within the Support Community framework. I've been away from the Apple world for many years now and obviously this world of technology moves very fast, yes? So that's the reason my opening query mentions confusion.
Before I visited here I spent quite some time Googling the topic finding tons of answers going back MOSTLY 6-8 years all of which were fairly specific and geared toward now obsolete versions of the question or assumed my Apple computer was up and running or I had an "unformated" external hard drive.
I didn't find anything wrong with the advice to use MacDrive but of course I was hoping not to have to use my credit card to do this------------what has to be fairly routine process. After I Googled "alternatives to MacDrive" I found a free ten day trial run for Paragon. It worked for all the picture files but can't see the old movie or music. I'm still working it out. Maybe I'm missing something. Anyways it's hard to communicate with experts who seem to want you to already be on a certain level or they will simply leave you in the dust with their "help."

  • How do I remove/delete the loops I've downloaded?  I don't use them and they are taking up too much space on my hard drive.

I wanted to see what was in the loops folders but now will never use them and I need the space.

Yes, I am logged in as the administrator.  When I drag a loop to the trash it does nothing.  The trash doesn't recoginize the item as trash and doesn't pop up and say trash like it does when I drag items from other programs to the trash.

  • I needed space on my hard drive and  it was suggested to clear the cache by restarting with shift held down.  My Aperture library is now missing...help please!

I needed space on my hard drive (iMac- as I do photography part time, and it was suggested to clear the cache by restarting and holding down the shift key.  Now most of my Aperture Library is missing and I had senior photos on there for friends....help please.
I heard that Aperture makes alias files when you are editing and that might be what is clogging up my hard drive.  I really don't know.

There is nothing that SHIFT reboot does to erase files. Have you restarted normally? It's quite possible that with a full drive you can't start nor can Aperture load its library file.
I don't know who gave you that advice but it's not a viable solution for a full drive:
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extrem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptops hard drive??

I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extreme (2 TB drive plugged into the USB port).  I see the drive on my laptop and I can add and delete files no problem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptop's hard drive?  I don't have enough space to do that.

How did you move the music to the external drive?  What exactly is on the drive?  The entire iTunes folder or only music?  If it is the entire iTunes folder you can do the option+start suggestion earlier.  If you copied only music and did so by dragging it there then you need to delete it again and consolidate/organize it there instead so iTunes tracks the move.  iTunes 12 for Mac: Change where your iTunes files are stored - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19507

If there was no backup, where would you recover the photos from.  Sorry but those pictures are gone.

The issue with the A1400 is that like most economy compact cameras, they will not have very fast focus times in indoor lighting situations. Many people have gone to entry level DSLR's (Canon T3i) or micro 4/3 cameras. They are fairly expensive, but a late model refurbished T3i can sometimes be found with a kit lens for about $300.00. With Auto and scene modes, as well as full manual modes, these are very versatile cameras that focus very quickly, even in lower lighting situations. Canon is not really into the micro 4/3 cameras, instead they are focusing on the new G7x and G1x cameras, which are way out of your price range. The A720 is still available used at some places such as KEH camera, but you'll need to check often as their stock changes constantly. Obviously the DSLR's don't use AA batteries, but the T3i is good for about 600 photos (or more) per charge.
My refurbished DSLR was practically brand new condition when I got it. I could not find any sign of wear at all, so I feel they are a real bargain. These are rugged cameras that are made to last. The A1400 is a $99.00 camera, so it's not intended for heavy usage, plus the image quality of a DSLR (even entry level) is far better than the A1400. That would be my recommendation.

  • I have a 2tb time capsule wondering how to store a lot of my files and photos on it to free up some space on my hard drive on my iMac

i have a 2tb time capsule wondering how to store a lot of my files and photos on it to free up some space on my hard drive on my iMac

For iMac please use USB or even better a FW800 or if you can afford it, a thunderbolt drive.. on your 2011 Mac.
Time Capsule is not a suitable place to store your files.
    1. You will have no backup.
    2. TC cannot back itself up, nor can Time Machine backup network drives.
    3. Apple says specifically of iphoto not to store library on network drive.
    iphoto network no no.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198
It's recommended that you store your iPhoto library on a locally mounted hard drive. Storing your iPhoto library on a network share can lead to poor performance, data corruption, or data loss.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6692100
    4. Other libraries may not corrupt but will run very slowly. iTunes for example.
Please purchase the fastest drive out of the external ports you have available.. usb2 although the slowest is still faster than TC over gigabit. It is also more reliable. TC are not a noted reliable storage drive. It is designed as a backup location for TM files.
