Hi i bought my ipod touch 4g 4 months ago and now i saw the ipod 5g and i really want to buy it but the bad thing is that my ipod is only 8gb while the ipod 5g is in 32 gb so what i was wondering is whether they would let me trade my old ipod for the new one or whether they would give me a discount. I have 200 dollars saved up but its still not enough to buy the new one.By the way i'm only 13 so please no harsh answers

If you purchased it within the last 14 days you can return it for a full refund and then purchase the 5G. Otherwise Apple will only give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod and purchase a new one.

You can try to tell the iPod to use yours:

But looking into more detail on bluetooth and of what profiles my phone supports it looks like iPod uses PAN, while my phone uses DUN for tethering.

Apple stores offer a 14 day remorse period where you can return a purchase for a full refund without having to give a reason however this has probably expired - unless you bought from a different store with a similar system which you still happen to be within the time limit for.
Your best bet would be to sell your iPod 3G and put the money towards a new one. If you are having trouble selling it an Apple store will take it and give you 10% off a new iPod. -

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
