Can i use flex to consume web services?

I am not a Flex developer and before delving into it I want
to be sure that it satisfies my project requirements. Mainly,
consuming web services. the other part of the project are a bunch
of buttons and graphs that constitute any GUI. so I think Flex can
handle this part as good as Flash.
Currently, I am using flash but my current client insists on
using flex. so my question is: can I develop in Flex whatever I can
develop in flash? or are there limitations?

If you are developing applications in Flash, then you will
love Flex. Flex will make you much more productive than Flash for
producing applications of any complexity. You can do at least
"most" of what you can do in Flash, and more. There might be a few
things you can do only in Flash, or more easily in Flex, but your
client has it right. They want Flex and they should want it. Check
out the FB3 help for the WebService, RemoteObject, and HTTPService
components.

  • How can I use XMLBeans in a Web Services client?

    How can I use XMLBeans in a standalone Java client with a Web Service?
    I posted the message below earlier in the year, but have not yet been successful
    in my
    attempts.
    regards
    Eddie
    Hi,
    I'm trying to using XMLBeans to send a document to a web service from a standalone
    Java client. I'm using the PurchaseOrder (easypo) example document, and the service
    expects a parameter of type PurchaseOrderDocument. The client proxy class generated
    by WebLogic Workshop, however, expects to send a parameter of type PurchaseOrder.
    In the client, I can instantiate a PurchaseOrderDocument, and then obtain a PurchaseOrder
    (e.g. pod.getPurchaseOrder() ), but the returned class is not compatible with
    the PurchaseOrder type that the client proxy expects.
    In a previous attempt (not using Workshop), the client would not compile because
    it expected to send a non-abstract class with a public default constructor (presumably
    a JAX-RPC requirement), and XMLBeans had generated an interface.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    thanks & regards

    I have been experiencing similar problems with the HTML Editor and have managed to find an answer that should start to answer some of my questions. The Apex HTML Editor Standard is actually an HTML editor called FCKeditor. The FCKeditor has a Javascript API that can be found at http://docs.fckeditor.net/FCKeditor_2.x/Developers_Guide/JavaScript_API. Unfortuately this doesn't seem to give the whole answer and I found more at http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/thread.cfm/threadid:49607.
    I needed to get the text entered within my html editor standard (e.g. P1_MYTEXT) and use it within my javascript function. I did this by using the following script
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function showtext(){
    var oEditor = FCKeditorAPI.GetInstance('P1_MYTEXT');
    var editortext = escape(oEditor.GetXHTML(oEditor.FormatOutput));
    alert(editortext);
    </script>
    Hope this helps.

  • How use a proxy consumer web service in ABAP Program with local interface

    I generate a proxy class based on a WSDL file.
    I want to use this class in an abap programm without a connection but using XML files in local.
    I see with the class CL_PROXY_LOCAL_ADAPTER that it is possible to execute without connection but for use this, it's necessary to use the method REGISTER.
    This method have two parameters : Class Name and Interface Name.
    Class name is the name of my proxy class, but I don't know how to find the interface name.
    I think that a local interface is needed to generate but I don't know how to generate in interface with entries in SPROXSIG table ?

  • Error "Deserialisation failed" when trying to use BAPI via a web service

    I created a web service in BW with the help from the wizard WS_WZD_START. The web service contains

    The ODSOBJECT parameter is there to be sure.
    I saw the same error before in this forum but found no real solution there. I am using BW 6.40 & SP 12.

    Hi Simon,
       Other thing you can do is compare the HTTP requests (including header) from both Delphi and XMLSPY. I suspect if the SOAP message is same in both case the difference might be in the header. But one thing is certain, WAS can not respond differently for same request, don't you think so ?

  • Pros & Cons for consuming web services in ABAP using ABAP PROXY

    Hi,
    Other then performence  is there any other disadvantages like security,etc for consuming web services in ABAP using ABAP proxy?
    I really appreciate if some one provide the more details(Pros & Cons ) regarding cosuming web services and I also want to know is there any other way to consume web services in ABAP.
    Thanks.

    <i> is there any other way to consume web services in ABAP</i>
    you can use cl_http_client class to make your program to act as http client and post the soap message too webservice. This way you dont need to generate proxy, but you should know the soap message format.

  • Complete newbie question - Can BI consume web services?

    Post Author: Steve Lamont
    CA Forum: Data Integration
    I am working on a new client site working on integration between a whole slew of systems including CRM, billing, BI etc.  The client is architecting a SOA oriented approach to all integration where it make sense.  As part of the effort, a new BI database is being built and loaded via some ETL tool.  The primary interface to access this new BI data will be business objects (BO).  Now, in the current environments, there are multiple, disparate BI systems containing various data.  The BO knowledge person (and he is not a business object employee) on this site is claiming that to access these other BI databases, he wants to do it by sending out requests via service calls.  I fully understand that BO itself can be set up to be a service provider and provide services for other consumers to take advantage of, but how does BO itself consume services provided by other applications?
    Obviously I don't fully understand BO, but my initial inclination is that this approach is wrong.  If data is required from these other BI source, wouldn't they be configured as data sources within business objects?  This BO guy claims that calling web services is more efficient that direct peer-to-peer calls via the database drivers.
    Can any share some comments on this situation?

    You posted your question to the wrong forum, please try to post it to one of the subforums in "Enterprise Reporting, Query & Analysis".
    This forum is about Data Integrator, Business Objects ETL tool.
    I'll try to answer your question anyway with my reporting background From what I know, YES we can consume web services in reports (Crystal reports), but for larger volumes of data a direct access to the database would be faster. A webservice approach might make sense if the webservice implements some business logic (semantic layer) which would be easier then to go directly to the tables.
    And just for the record : also Data Integrator can consumer web services...

  • Flex/Air and Web Services/Remote Objects

    If I'm calling a web service operation, either through the
    mx:webservice or mx:remoteobject tags, do I need to configure my
    Flex or Air project (I'm using the latest Flex Builder IDE) with
    the "use remote object access service" when creating the project?
    When do I need to configure services-config.xml or
    remoting-config.xml?
    Can't I simply call a web service operation by specifying the
    endpoint (if using mx:remoteobject) or the wsdl location for the
    service and then invoking one of its methods? I'm having a very
    difficult time consuming a web service through either method (even
    on my own local ColdFusion 8 developer instance) and need some
    assistance. I've looked all over the internet for help, but, so
    far, without success.
    Thanks,
    -Jose

    You do not need to specify any server to use any of the RPC
    protocols.
    Have you looked at an example?
    You have not said what problems you are having.
    Be aware of crossdomain security issues.

  • Best practice for consuming web services

    Hi
    we are consuming web service in orchestration by "Add Generated Item".By using this option it creates 1 orch,1xsd file and some bindings.
    we have different projects for schemas,maps and orchestration under our solution in visual studio.
    Now i need to know that what will be the best practice for consuming web service in orchestration i mean in which project should i use "add generated item" (in orchstration project or in schemas project) coz it generates both 1 orch and 1
    schema.
    thanks

    From a service orientation perspective you should abstract the service artifacts from the other artifacts. Otherwise it will be very difficult to update the service interface without affecting the other artifacts. For example you don't want to have to redeply
    your entire application if only one field changes in the service you consume.
    So I typically generate the items, remove the unnecessary stuff, and put them in a separate project.
    Depending on the control you have over the services you want to consume, it would even be better to create another layer of abstraction. By that I mean create your own interface (schema) and map that one to the one the service exposes. This basically
    is only necessary if you consume external services that are beyond your control. By abstracting the interface it exposes, you limit the impact of changes of that interface on the rest of your system. All changes are abstracted behind your own interface.
    If you consume internal services, you can probably control the way the interface is defined. In a service oriented world all internal services expose a well known interface, based on the domain objects you have within your organisation.

    ==>
    Hi,
    There are 2 ways you can do this :-
    If your sender is a file and receiver is a webservice and you want to map the response back to the file then :-
    Sol 1 :- Async-Sync Bridge using RequesResponse Oneway bean
    Sender File channel ---> Soap Receiver Channel
    Soap Receiver Channel brings the response back to the File Receiver Channel.
    Now this File Receiver Channel should be called inside the Sender File Channel using the above bean.
    Data Type :
    Src - File struc to SOAP request (WSDL used as an external definition)(mapping 1)
    SOAP response(WSDL used as an external definition) to Tgt File Struc (mapping 2)
    Sol 2 :- Async Scenario
    Make a Sender File Channel --> use SOAP lookup channel (pass the request payload through the SOAP receiver channel) --> Map the response back to the File using File Receiver Channel.
    Data Type:
    Src - File struc to Tgt File Struc (mapping 1). Since you are passing the request payload through SOAP lookup in the UDF itself.

  • To consume web service in ABAP is it required that server should be XI.

    Hi ,
    I am trying to connect to a webservice from netweaver 7.0 systemand it gives an error " Not configured as integration engine". Is it required to have integration engine to consume web service.
    Sanjay

    Hi Sanjay
    You can consume webservices in ABAP but its better to use XI in mid to avoid point to point communication. Using XI you can have a central hub for all services you consume or publish

  • Use of inheritance in web services

    Hi,
    I'm new to Flex development and have been developing a PPro extension which also uses a couple of web services to obtain information about the media and sequences.
    One of the web services I use gives me information about a project.  This project contans a list of clipmarks (sub-clips) that will become a sequence in PPro.  The problem is that the web service clipmark class is the superclass of either media_clipmark or audio_clipmark, and the items it puts in the list on the server side are of these subclass types.  So you get a list of say 3 media_clipmarks.
    BUT when then appear in the results in Flex they have been reduced to their common superclass clipmark and thus don't contain any of their specialised properties.  Is inheritance of server side class not supported by the proxy generator code in Flash Builder 4?  Is there any way to achieve the result I want - that is a list of clipmarks which are either media_clipmarks or audio_clipmarks and get the specialised properties as appropriate?
    I am assured that the server is correctly adding these to the project and I assume it is the declaration of the project as having List<clipmark> that is causing the problem.
    If this question has already been answered please point me to the relevant answer - couldn't find it by search.
    Thanks

  • Problem at Consume WEB Service in ABAP

    hello!!
    I tell them my problem, is to create a web service from the SE80,  which could be used properly.
    Then there was a change of server, which migrated to the developments and the web service is recreation, but this can not be consumed.
    now I need help, is where do I indicate that the basis so that they can return to consume web services, what services or settings should be activated.
    any suggestion or help are welcome.
    The ECC system is a 5 AS ABAP only.
    from now, I appreciate any help or guidance I can get.

    What is the problem? Are all the services active in SICF for web services and how is the web service being consumed is it through a wsdl file ?

  • Biztalk 2010 - Consume Web Service with Certificate

    Hi
    I have to consume a java web service with Biztalk that requires authentication via a client certificate. Until now I have not been able to consume any web service where any kind of authentication was needed. Simple web services without authentication are
    no problem. Also using SoapUI works perfectly fine.
    I am generating the XSDs and the port binding with the WCF wizard in VS2010. I've read several comments that it's not possible to consume web services with the WCF-WSHttp adapter when the message format should be SOAP 1.1. Therefore I'm trying with the WCF-BasicHttp
    and WCF-Custom adapters, but I did not suceed in receiving a positive response yet.
    The web service I want to consume uses a client certificate (with a private key) and two root certificates. When I use the BasicHttp adapter I choose either 'Transport' or 'TransportWithMessageCredential' but none of them work. I also have to supply a client
    and a service certificate. I always use the one with the private key for the client but I'm not sure which one I have to use for the service. Is there a possibility that I have to provide both root certificates and if so, how can I achieve this?
    Hope the question makes sense somehow... thanks for any input.
    Error message that I receive currently is that the server needs a client certificate. However I attached it in the send port properties under the tab "Security" => mode "TransportWithMessageCredential".

  • How to consume WEB SERVICES from ABAP ??

    Q: How to consume WEB SERVICES from ABAP program??
         the point here is i am using SAP release 620 and the creation of proxy is out of scenario
         and also no XI.    Its only through ABAP program i need to consume one web service (its a HTTPS one ),
        Using cl_http_client... i tried it but i am totally confused of whats happening ???
    Req some senior ppl advice on the same/approach.
    any hints will suffice my way of approach...!!!
    Please do put in your valuable advices..!!
    Thanks in advance..!!!!

    Hello Srinivas,
    Following is the code for calling web service:
    data: client type ref to if_http_client,
          host   type string value 'server url',
          service type string value '8080',
          path type string value '/sap/public/ping',
          errortext type string,
          proxy_service type string,
          scheme type i value 1.
    call method cl_http_client=>create
    exporting host  = host
            service  = service
         proxy_host  = host
       proxy_service = service
       scheme        = scheme
    importing client  = client
    exceptions
        argument_not_found = 1
        internal_error     = 2
        plugin_not_active  = 3
        others             = 4.
    case sy-subrc.
      when 0.
         write 'Server reached successfully'.
      when others.
         write: 'sy-subrc =', sy-subrc.
    endcase.
    Once you got the client object you can call following methods:
    "Set the requrie URL for the web service you want to call. This is not WSDL anyway!!
    cl_http_utility=>set_request_uri( request = client->request
    uri =' url 2 be called ').
    *Then you can call send method with proper inputs for sending request to WS
    CALL METHOD client->send
    Then you can use receive method for getting the response
    CALL METHOD client->receive
    *You can get last error in case of exceptions
    CALL METHOD cl_http_client=>get_last_error
    *Close the client object
    CALL METHOD client->close
    For more information on full code refer my link in previous replay.
    Thanks,
    Augustin.
