Can I give my friends and family at home a skype to go number that would make their numbers local in the UK to avoid international fees?
I am going to be studying abroad in the UK for a month so I'm trying to figure out the most economic way to communicate. I am thinking about getting a go-phone in the UK and using it to make local calls to the US through a Skype to Go number. Could I do this?

You are correct, if you call your US Skype To Go number from abroad you will incur international call charges.
When abroad, you can either buy a local SIM card and get new Skype To Go numbers in the country where you'll be (if Skype provides Skype To Go numbers there), or use one of our Skype applications for your mobile (e.g. Skype for iPhone or Android) and call abroad using the phone's WiFi connection.

That was a great explanation on the situation. Just to confirm, Europe uses GSM for their wireless network. There are third party apps that will allow you to make calls via wi-fi on a wi-fi enabled device. This is largely due if wi-fi is available and if it's free.
From my experience, I was able to make wi-fi calls on my Iphone 4 in Greece without any problems last month. Since we don't own any towers in Europe, the service is hit or miss. Feel free to update us when you get back.

Can anyone else please tell me how best to use Skype to Go when overseas. I live and have my Skype account in the US, but travel to the UK frequently. When I was last in the UK, I tried to use Skype to Go, it worked fine, and the cost of the Skype calls were low, but I was hit for roaming charges by my carrier which were really high and I might just as well have dialed directly without using Skype.

Sure. Wifi is wifi the world over, so you can use any free wifi you can find at hotels, restaurants, and so forth.
If you have a wifi+cellular iPad mini, you can use a SIM card from a local carrier if there is one there that offers iPad data plans.

Right Windows can Not read Mac formatted drives.
If you want to use that drive on both systems you will need to use some other format then Mac Extended (Journaled). Something like Fat32 or exFAT. Or since it is already partitioned just use the Windows partition on Windows.
Of couse you can try using one of those add-on programs that allows Windows to read Mac drives.

Can I make Skype quit automatically when I close i...

I'm sick of having to close it on the task bar and then confirm I don't want it running any more.
I've already confirmed I wanted to log out and close the program, why is it still running?
I cannot find an option to quit from the menu whilst running, but I imaging it's buried somewhere.
Could somebldy tell me how to either 'quit' automatically when I close the program, or if there is an option to close and quit while it's open?
Failing that could I find out why it's do ******* important that it stays running in the backlground after I close it the first time?

If you sign out of Skype before quitting, then the “Do not ask me again” option will not be shown. You don’t need to sign out before quitting!!!!
