    Did you mean: can you parse an XML document within Forms 6i? With the new Java importer support, you should be able to use the Oracle XML parser for Java to do this.

  • Problem while using XML with Oracle

    I have a problem using XML with oracle applications
    The process I am following
    1. Making a XML string.
    2. Parsing it to get a document
    3. Free the parser using xmlparser.freeparser
    4. Traversing through nodes .
    5. Freeing the document.
    The whole Process is executed in batch mode.
    The problem occurs after executing the procedure for 5000 records and I get the error
    ORA-04031: unable to allocate 4176 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown object","sga
    heap","library cache")
    Can you please help me out to overcome this problem
    It's urgent
    I have
    Oracle version 8.1.7.0.0
    XML version 1.2
    OS Windows NT
    To resolve the problem I have increase shared memory size and java initialization parameters ,which seems OK
    Looking forward for your answer.

    Hello, Reena
    Your process flow seems to be correct in term of getting/freeing memory.
    Following error
    The problem occurs after executing the procedure for 5000 records and I get the error
    ORA-04031: unable to allocate 4176 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown object","sga
    heap","library cache")may be caused by memory leaks in xdk or memory fragmentation(due to get/free memory cycle)
    To find out if this is an memory leak issue you could try to monitor V$SGASTAT from one session while running your batch process in another session.
    To prevent (or lower its impact) fragmentation issues try to PIN objects, and adjust java_pool_size and shared_pool_reserved_size.
    Anyway, counsult your Oracle DBA.
    Oracle version 8.1.7.0.0I think, you should apply database patch first of all. The latest one (8.1.7.4.x) could be accured from Metalink.

  • Can we use different Databases (Oracle & SQL Server) in one report?

    Post Author: venki5star
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hi there.
    Can we use different databases (Oracle & SQL Server) in a same report?
    If possible how?
    Another question,
    Can we change the Provider Name at runtime of the given report. If so the above question is useless...
    Thanks in Advance.

    I tried this using Oracle Provider for OLEDB (the one that supplied by Oracle Client) and Crystal Reports 9. you can drag the column into designer but the image does not appear in preview.
    I guess it's because CR does not recognized it as image, and there are no information that the blob data is an image at all.

  • Sender file adapter - Can I use *.xml for the file name

    Hi Gurus,
    I have some interfaces where I need to pick the file from a directory. The name of the file will have Data<i>time stamp</i> as the naming convention. Can I use *.xml to pick up my files from this directory?
    The help.sap.com documentation says that we can use this naming convention.
    <b>
    &#9679;      File Name
    Specify the name of the file that you want to process. The name can contain placeholders (*, ? (placeholders for exactly one character)) so that you can select a list of files for processing.
    </b>
    I tried using *.xml for my file name in the communication channel, XI is not picking up this file.
    Please let me know if you have the solution.
    Thanks
    Kalyan

    Murthy,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I am using GuildFTP tool as my FTP server. In this tool, all the permissions were given for the file to pick up.
    The status of the file is good.
    Where in the file adapter configuration I have to select 'Read-only'?
    The file adapter is working perfect with the exact name of the file.
    Thanks
    Kalyan

  • Can we use hints in oracle 11g version ?

    can we use hints in oracle 11g version ? is it working ??

    Why do you ask these questions? Have you looked at the SQL Reference Guide and Performance Tuning Guide for your Oracle version - both which covers using hints?
    Have you see a statement that is not supported? Or does not work?
    Or are you simply doing idle speculation and expecting forum members to spend their free time in answering a basic question where the answer is ridiculously simply to find?

  • Can i use XML publisher in a c/s enviroment?

    Hi. I'd like to know whether it's possible to use XML Publisher in a C/S enviroment. We're still using reports and forms 6i in C/S. I'd like to know whether one can use the client version of XML to build custom reports (invoices for instance).
    Thanks in advance ...!

    Hi. my main concern is whether one can use XML publisher in a Client / Server enviroment. What this mean is :
    If it's possible not to use the middle tier: the J2EE container thing?. Put in other words, keep it simpler: just use a client that process XML data (probably using 10g facilities). Use the desktop client of XML publisher to access an Oracle Database or some xml files and use this to configure custom invoice reports for example. Our application is still on forms and reports 6i (C/S). Since there are certain limitations in customising the layout model on reports, i've been advised to consider XML publisher. So i don't really need to use forms or reports 6i with XML publisher. What i need is access to an Oracle Database from a desktop client (or have the DB generate an XML file) and be still C/S. I don't want the complexity of the three tier arquitecture yet.
    Best regards, Luis ...!

  • Can not use XML API from Sun (JAXP)

    Some of my EJBs and Servlets uses XML API from Sun (JAXP) but after deployment the J2EE Container uses its own XML engine (Oracle XML Parser....) instead.
    I try to add JAXP library to my deployment file and test again but this problem still occurred.
    My question is how to add my libraries to J2EE Container and these libraries can be shared by any applications.
    Regards,
    Narong

    Please post this in the misc or xml newsgroup.

  • In which trigger can i use go_item() in oracle forms 6i?

    Hi,
        I have a problem with go_item.
    I tried executing go_item() in triggers like key_next_item, pre_text_item, post_text_item & when_validate_item.
    But none of them seemed to be working.
    I searched for other possibilities in the site, where i found a solution of using trigger ' when_timer_expired ' with ' when_validate_item ' ,
    but when i tried to create trigger, i did not find that trigger (when_timer_expired)  in the list at all.
    I'm using oracle form builder 6i.
    Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production.
    A trigger with go_item() must be created when tab is pressed.
    In which trigger can i use go_item() ??
    Thank You.

    from help:
    Restricted Built-in Subprograms
    Restricted Built-ins affect navigation in your form, either external screen navigation, or internal navigation. You can call these Built-ins only from triggers while no internal navigation is occurring.
    Restricted Built-ins cannot be called from the Pre and Post triggers, which fire when Oracle Forms is navigating from object to another.
    Restricted Built-ins can be called from the When triggers that are specific to interface items, such as When-Button-Pressed or When-Checkbox-Changed. Restricted Built-ins can also be called from any of the When-New-"object"-Instance triggers and from key triggers.
    Unrestricted Built-ins do not affect logical or physical navigation and can be called from any trigger.
    The Built-in descriptions include a heading, Built-In Type, that indicates if the Built-in is restricted or unrestricted.

  • Can we use replication usings oracle 10g steams for EBS r12 database?

    HI,
    We are using EBS 12.0.6 and database 10.2.0.3 on linux 32-bit/64-bit OS (Multi-Node env).
    Actually We want to decrease the load of custom reports on actual production system, so thats why
    we need reports server and as my past experience I had used oracle streams for replication with simple schema based replication and tablespace replication also.
    So, please educate me, that can i used the oracle 10g streams for EBS schemas like APPS, GL ,INV, PO, ONT, ODM, AR, AP, CM etc?
    Please provide us the above related env docs and road Map.
    If you have any other way to create the Report Server?
    Regard,
    Fayaz Ahmed

    Hi,
    We are not in a position to upgrade the EBS from 12.0.6 to 12.1, because this is lengthy task, but we had already tested technically it in test env, but functional testing in pending.
    Now we want to immediate solution if possible, because this is production?
    So, please suggest another.

  • Using XML in Oracle

    Good Morning!
    I wanted to insert some xml Data into my Orcale XML DB:
    First of all I registered 2 Schemas required for the XML, like this:
    Begin
    DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.registerSchema(
    schemaURL => 'Mailpiece_Processing/oif_dtypes',
    schemaDoc => bfilename('XML_TEST','oif_dtypes.xsd'));
    End;
    then Created a table:
    Create table XML_default auf XMLType
    then inserted XML like this:
    insert into xml_default
    values
    XMLTYPE
    Bfilename ('XML_TEST', 'Test.xml'),
    nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8'
    Now to my question: Oracle is offering more than one possebility to save XML into its DB. If I import XML like this, is it called CLOB Storage or object relational?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
    I can only give u a few examples here but for the full sytanx and features of this powerful feature u may have to refer to some documentation online or read a book on XML within Oracle Database.
    Let me try a few examples here
    1) To extract the data from XML document an SQL plus command is available in XML DB. This feature is available from 10G onwards
    example : select xmlelement(name,ename) from emp
    Output will look like
    <NAME>SMITH </NAME>
    <NAME> JOHN </NAME>
    <NAME> JONES </NAME>
    2) CREATE TABLE FAMILIES (F_ID NUMBER(3), F_XML XMLTYPE);
    insert into families values(1,xmltype('<XML.....>'));
    or
    insert into families values(1,''<XML>......' ));
    Hope this helps !!!

  • Can I use the same Oracle Repository for the new FDM App

    Hi All,
    I have to uninstall FDM and install and re-configure FDM again and then restore FDM Apps present previously.
    For this, Can I resue the same Oracle Repository for restoring the FDM app on newly installed instance.
    As far as I know, I need to take the backup of that repository and then drop the Repository and create again and use it for new application
    Please suggest, are there any other ways to do this/..
    thanks in advance
    J

    You can reuse the repository. You will need to <Add Application> instead of <New Application>

  • Can I use XML using XSD

    Hi,
    I know we can use XML as data server with DTD. Is it also possible to use XSD instead of DTD. If yes would the driver be same.
    Thanks
    Jasvinder Singh

    Got SAS error when used as "jdbc:snps:xml?f=C:\myxml.xml"
    (Try to insert null into a non-nullable column: column: NAME table: STAGI_ELEMENT in statement [insert into STAGI_ELEMENT (ELEMENTORDER, ELEMENTPK, NAME, REF, SCHEMAFK, SEQUENCEFK)  values (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)]
    all these table name and columns comes by itselt , non are reffereing to my data. thn i tried some jugglery in changing the XSD. then it worked , but when i reserved though model window it showed me as
    SCHEMA     Table
    ELEMENT     Table
    SEQUENCE     Table
    COMPLEXTYPE     Table
    these are part of XSD elements definations.
    what i understand that use f=xml file and d=dtd file name or d=xsd file name.

  • Can we use WebUtil with Oracle Forms 6i

    Can any one tell me if we can use WebUtil with Oracle Forms 6i..I have 11.5.9 instance of oracle apps and i want to use some features of WebUtil to customize one of seeded Oracle Form.
    Any pointers in this regard are quiet welcome.
    Thanks,

    Strictly speaking no...however you could "backport" the webutil code and in theory you could get some of the functionality to work - this is not supported in the context of oracleForms although Oracle Applications may have their own specific solution/certification of this.
