Can I used my New MBP13' with a 85W MagSafe?

Hi there!
Here in Brazil, Apple don't sell 60W Magsafe. But They recommend to use 85W Magsafe. I'm very worried to accept their recommendation. What do you think about? Can I accept their advice?
Luís

I have had two of the 60W Magsafe power supplies fail.  I replaced both with 85W Magsafe power supplies and, so far, have not had any problems; nor do I anticpate having any.  Swapping from 60W to 85W is fine.  If you had said you wanted to move from an 85W Magsafe to a 60W Magsafe, then we'd have to dig deeper before making a recommendation.
But if all you're doing is replacing the power supply, then taking their advice and moving to a 85W supply is fine.
If you're concerned, can you take your MBP to the store and try it there?  (This would be more to prove it to yourself, as a 85W power supply will work in the same places as a 60W supply).

I just bought a new MBP 13' with MagSafe 60W. Can I used my old Charger 85W(My old MBP Mid 2008 85W MagSafe Power Adapter) It does work, but what will happen to the battery? will it ruin the battery life? will it overcharged?

No it won't do any harm
(It will just draw what's required and then shut off as normal)

  • 2006 MBP: can I use a new adapter with my old t-cable?

My 85w adapter crapped out and I have isolated the issue to the adapter itself and not the cable with the magsafe t-shape. I understand that the new adapters dont work with older macbooks so rather than trying to track down an old adapter can I just buy a new one with the L-shape magsafe and swap in my t-shape magsafe cable?

There have been people report "fit" issues with the L adaptors on older MBPs. Not all, but a lot. Take the MBP with you to an Apple Store or AASP and make them show you that the new adapter not only fits but charges your computer.

  • Can you use the new iMac with FCS.

This is one of those a friend of a friend of a friend told me this.  His friend, who shoots video that's shown on a local access channel, just bought the latest iMac.  I don't know what this person's set up is or what kind of equipment is, but he claims that he might have to upgrade his cameras because he can't import the footage.  I'm interested in investing in the new iMac but hesitate because I do a lot of amateur video work (weddings, birthday parties, etc.)  Anyone heard anything about this?  By the way, I use a two year old HD Sony video camera and use FCS 7.  All video is stored on an external hard drive.

The current 27" iMac's with Thunderbolt will run the whole suite of Final Cut Studio apps just fine.  The catch will be your external Scratch Drive.  Until Thunderbolt drives ship in a couple of months, you're stuck with FW800, which barely cuts it for serious HD work.  Thunderbolt will change that.
One option is to get the configuration that has both an SSD and a 1TB 7200rpm HDD drives in it.  The SSD would be your OS drive, the HDD your Scratch Drive.  That would work fine.
As for professionals, I teach them, guys from huge cable news networks, who've been using FCP since v.1.  I'm amazed how many of them walk away even after the 1st day of class with whole new workflows.  You never stop learning in any profession.  The day you do, you're out dated.
The model of Mac you use has nothing to do with your ability to import footage.  The version of FCP you use CAN affect that a great deal, though.
Specifically what make/model camera do you plan to be using for this work?  BTW, weddings and events are a very profitable niche profession.  I have friends who make good livings for years doing only that.

  • Hi... can i use the new earphone with microphone to make calls in skype without must press a button bellow the left phone?

I forgot, make call using a PC, not on iPhone.

As far as I know, PAP2 does not provide an option to disable Inbound calls from both line 1 and 2 although you can set it up to block calls and enable DnD.
You will have have to switch your RJ11 cord back and forth from the wall and PAP2 in order to do outbound calls and receive inbound calls.

do I need to create another account with a different email account
Yes, the email addresses need to be unique to each device. You may use the same Apple ID on each device, but the email address used by each device needs to be different.

Oh yes! Apple will be happy for you to buy as many Apple products as you can afford.

Yes, you can use the 85 watt adaptor. You cannot use the new adaptors because your computer is not equipped with the proper MagSafe connector. But you can use the older MBP adaptors as well as a 60 watt replacement adaptor. All can be found at Apple's Online Store.

  • I am using a new imac with osx lion 10.7.5 and have bought a copy of Apple iLife 11 on dvd a so that I can install iWeb and idvd, when I click on install iLife I get a message saying "iLife.kpg was signed with an invalid certificate

I am using a new imac with osx lion 10.7.5 and have just bought Apple iLife 11 on dvd so that I can install iWeb and iDVD, as macs no longer ship with these apps. When I click on install iLife I get a message saying "iLife.kpg was signed with an invalid certificate.
Next problem is that when moving through the installer and get to custom install, as I only want to install iDVD and iWeb, I am presented with the option to install iDVD, Sounds & Jingles and iWeb, but not sure what is going on with the other 3 options iLife Support etc, they seem to be greyed out but still look like they may install over the top of the newer versions already on my imac. Is it ok for me to just go ahead and hit install? Or do I have a problem?

Yep, just install iDVD (plus sounds and jingles) and iWeb if you want it (but note that iWeb apparently won't work if you upgrade to Mountain Lion).
Then use Software Update to get any late iDVD updates.

  • Can I use my new iphone 5 with the old iHome iD9SVC Speaker System if I get an apadter? or should i just buy new speaker system made specifically for the iphone5

Look iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is a backup listed for your iPhone 5 dated BEFORE you restored your iPhone 4 backup to your iPhone 5? If not, your data is gone. If there is a backup, on your iPhone 5: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to restore that backup, if it exists, to your iPhone 5.

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
    - Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
    - Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.
To move mdia to the new computer see:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

  • I have Old ID's that I want to delete, also I changed my ID and redeemed an ITune card with my old ID, I can't use my new ID to buy coins from the 8 Ball app

I installed the 8 Ball app using my old ID I also redeemed a 25$ ITunes card, I want to buy more coins but can't using my new ID, also the password for my previous ID keeps me from updating the apps I have, there's Justine more thing, I have been asked to put a password for an ID I don't recognize

You can't delete iTunrd accounts, all you can do is remove personal info from them and stop using them - any content that you downloaded with an account will remain tied to it.
As apps are tied to the account, you can only make in-app purchases using the account that you bought the app with - so you will only be able to make in-app purchases using the old account.
For the app update, if you don't recognise the account id is showing for the app, then did somebody else download that app onto your iPad ? Only the account that bought/downloaded an app can download updates to its apps.

  • HT2534 I just create a new ID, but after verified my email add, I still can't use my new ID neither with credit card nor none. I just stuck at review my account step, please advise.

I just create a new ID, but after verified my email add, I still can't use my new ID neither with credit card nor none. I just stuck at review my account step, please advise.

What do you mean 'give me an example please' ? And 'dont have use a credit card' ?
Unless you follow the instructions on this page when creating a new account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
then you will need to enter credit card details before the account can be used in the store.
If you don't have a credit card then you will need to create a new account, but this time follow the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it. If you want to use the same email address then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, http://appleid.apple.com, or by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone.
