Can not truncate ODS_PROCESS table
Hi:
I haven't been able to restart LDAP and I've discovered that the problem is a hung record in the ODS_PROCESS table. When I try to delete this record, I get the following error:
[ORA-01552: cannot use system rollback segment for non-system tablespace
'OLTS_DEFAULT']
Does anybody have any tips on how to solve this? I'm a bit of a beginner...
THX.
This datafile belongs to the UNDO tablespace and cannot be accessed. Most likely the datafile is offline for whatever reason. If this is the case you have to bring it online, that means often some kind of media recovery is needed. Maybe you have a more general problem with your database, which is the basic reason for your first problem. Normally Oracle does not require a non-system rollback segment, if automatic UNDO management is turned on. Hopefully you have access to metalink, because there could be several reasons for this error. Following note provides troubleshooting:

Urgent: Oracle Text error: DRG-10001: can not access result table
Hi,
I am getting the "DRG-10001:can not access result table" error when trying to run the oracle text procedure ctx_cls.train within HTMLDB. The schema i used for parsing is granted with the necessary privileges, and i can run the procedure manually using the same schema in sqlplus. Following is the script I am trying to run:
1. begin
2. ctx_cls.train(
3. index_name => 'MyDocindex',
4. docid => 'MyDoc_id',
5. cattab => 'MyDocTab_categories',
6. catdocid => 'cat_MyDoc_id',
7. catid => 'cat_id',
8. restab => 'rules',
9. rescatid => 'rule_cat_id',
10. resquery => 'rule_text',
11. resconfid => 'rule_confidence'
12. );
13. end;
Please help urgently!
Thanks
RGI seem to have hit a similar problem.
Did you eventually resolve this problem?

Can not find a table in DBA_TAB_PRIVS and ROLE_TAB_PRIVS
I get a table 'KNA1', a table of SAP R3 ERP application, and tried to find out all privileges granted to 'KNA1'. Using the SQL statement below, I am sure 'KNA1' is existing.
SQL> SELECT * FROM DBA_OBJECTS WHERE OBJECT_NAME = 'KNA1';
OWNER
OBJECT_NAME
SUBOBJECT_NAME OBJECT_ID DATA_OBJECT_ID OBJECT_TYPE
CREATED LAST_DDL_ TIMESTAMP STATUS T G S
SAPR3
KNA1
7480 7480 TABLE
30-JUL-02 30-JUL-02 2002-07-30:15:26:22 VALID N N N
However, when I tried to find 'KNA1' in 'DBA_TAB_PRIVS' and 'ROLE_TAB_PRIVS', the result is 'no rows selected'.
SQL> SELECT * FROM SYS.DBA_TAB_PRIVS WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'KNA1';
no rows selected
SQL> SELECT * FROM ROLE_TAB_PRIVS WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'KNA1';
no rows selected
SQL> SELECT * FROM SYS.ROLE_TAB_PRIVS WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'KNA1';
no rows selected
Dose that answer mean 'KNA1' did not be granted to any user or role?
If it is true, why can I still use KNA1 wtihout any problem?
If it is not true, where can I find the privileges information related to 'KNA1'?
Thanks a lot.Yes, I have, I use 'SYS', with DBA role, to login Oracle. thanks for ur response, but could u please say more, because I can not get ur point. thank you.

Can not display the tables in developer
Hi!
I use the following applications:
Database
1 NLSRTL 9.2.0.5.0 Production
2 Oracle9i Enterprise Edition 9.2.0.5.0 Production
4 TNS for 32-bit Windows: 9.2.0.5.0 Production
PL/SQL
Java™ Platform 1.5.0_06
Oracle IDE 1.2.1.3213
After connecting to the DBMS i am unable to see the objects like tables and views in the Object Browser but the users. Using SQL i can run a query by typing a correct SQL Statement - i also can see the object after type in the dot.
How i can solve this problem?
Thanks in advance!You are right!
Now i can see the objects! I established a new connection and changed the owner!
But i do not understand - i can see all objects with the first username in the former PL SQL Developer. Which rights i have to grant to the other user to see the objects in the new developer as well?
Thank you! -
CAN NOT VIEW ALL TABLES IN MY INSTANCE/SCHEMA
neither thru an ODBC connection in Access or thru TOAD can I see all of the tables available to me in my instance. In TOAD I can query them, if i know their names and call them in the SQL but when i go to the table view they are not there.... HELP!!!!!
I ran a 9i RAC with hundreds of tablespaces and several hundred user objects (tables, procedures, etc.) in each tablespace (product development environment). I HAD to use roles for privileges or it was unmanageable. Access to the DB was mostly from MS Access users who didn't know how to write real SQL or use an enterprise-level reporting tool. I set up a lot of ODBC-links for people who only had privileges granted via roles, and the biggest problem wasn't the explicit grants, but not having READ access. All had a default role (and I frequently ran into the role limit issue) selected and this didn't seem to affect the selection of tables via ODBC. I strongly recommend that you check and verify that the user you are trying to connect through ODBC has READ rights on the tables in question, not just EXECUTE, REFERENCES, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, etc.

Can not see new table to reverse
I have a new table that has been added to an oracle database but when I go to add it to my model it is not available in the list of objects to reverse when I am on the selective reverse tab. I do have the New Datastores checkbox checked. any ideas?
I figured it out. The physical schema and work schema was defined with the schema name in lower case but should have been in uppercase.

I can not copy the table caption in the above pdf. If I do so, I will get some gibberish, such as %"/*&+%",-.%&1",/*%9&,*09%&
I'm wondering what happens to the pdf file. Is there a way to fix it so that I can copy the text?asdfabcedasf wrote:

Does anybody know what cause the problem and how to fix it? The current walkaround is to convert the pdf into image, then load the image into acrobat and perform OCR. But this is tedious and some information may be lost. I'm wondering if there is a better solution. -

I want make changes in previous table.
If my condition Table is < 501 then what happen
& if > 500 then what happen
I want for both.
please help
thank you.thank you Kapil
you mean we can not edit standard table (which is less than 501).
ok I agree.
but suppose I am creating one condition table (which is greater than 500 )

Can I give access to truncate one table only ?
Hi,
We have system where it is deleting one table and inserting records using pro-cobol in a table owned by another schema. It means user b is inserting records in a's table i.e. t. Can I give access to truncate only a.t ? delete any table or drop any table will give access to b to truncate any table in 'a'. I do not want this. How can I achive this ?
thanks & regards
PJPAs Justin already said there is no separate right to simple GRANT TRUNCATE ON TABLE to user.
From the docs: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_10006.htm#sthref9966
To truncate a table or cluster, the table or cluster must be in your schema or you must have DROP ANY TABLE system privilege.
So the best way would be to encapsulate this login in a packaged procedure as described by Justin. -
Space is not released after truncating the table
Team,
We have a table of size 550gigs in size and we truncated the table , truncated sucessfully but space is not released in os level, what action we can take to release the space and this table has only one row and contains the binary data.
Thanks

Hello,
Yes space wont be released immediately .If large extents are in picture which I assume is your case it goes into deferred drop a background process which will execute after some time( time may vary).See below link for details.
As per BOL if extents are more than 128 it goes in deferred drop.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms177495.aspx
You should wait for some time .keep checking the free space
Below discussion will surely help you in understanding.See Jonathan's reply

Can grant truncate table permission to a user?
Whether can grant truncate table permission to a user separately.
I know that the role db_ddladmin can do,but the create,alter and drop permissions will be granted the same time(These permissions are not what we want to
grant to user).
Is there any solution?
Best regards!!
If you haven't all the things you want,be grateful for the things you don't have that you didn't want.You can't grant truncate because for whatever reason, that permission doesn't exist. What you can do is use a stored procedure and use EXECUTE AS OWNER to get around it.
create database foo
go
create login foobar with password = 'alkdsfji9eorngv';
go
use foo
go
create user foobar from login foobar;
go
create table test(rowid int identity)
go
insert into test default values;
go
select * from test
go
create procedure dbo.truncate_test
with execute as owner
as
truncate table test
go
grant execute on dbo.truncate_test to foobar
go
execute as login='foobar'
execute dbo.truncate_test
revert
go
select * from test
go
use master
go
drop database foo
drop login foobar
This keeps your database safe and allows you to grant execute on the truncate procedure to allow them to truncate the table.Jonathan Kehayias

Can not update data in table view
When i open a table from a connection in the connection navigator i can not alter the data in it... I can only add new rows. Is there a setting so i can alter the data?
My user has update rights because when i write my own update statement and execute it, it works fine.I found the issue... You can do it in 10g but you have to define a PK on the table, otherwhise he does not know what row to update. When i added a PK i could edit the data in Jdev in data view.
