Can only save as .cptl

2Hello!
I've looked, but I didn't see any other discussions that address the particular issue that I am experiencing. I'm using Captivate 5 on a Mac and when I select "Save as" for my projects, I only have the option to save as a .cptl type file and NOT .cptx.
I can change the extension manually and everything is ok, but it's just a little annoying to have to do this with nearly every file.
Most files I work with are created from a standard template we use at my employer. It's likely this file was originally created in an earlier version of Captivate. Might this be the cause of my issue?
Thanks in advance for any help!
-Miki

The good news is it's not a Mac issue.
On my Windows system, if I double click on a cptl file it opens in Cp5 as a cptl file and I can only save-as a cptl file (using the drop down).  When you're opening the cptl, Captivate thinks you want to edit the template and it only lets you save it as a template (again, using the drop down).  Because, well, that's what you're doing.. you're editing the template.
If you use the New Project > Project from Template option it will open the cptl file and then give you the save as cptx option.
Why it's not happening to your coworkers on Windows is another question, since I'm seeing what you're are and I'm on windows.

  • Infopath submit - how to hide - Save as dialog box - You can only save this file to the current site

    HI,
I have a infopath form. In the submit options, i have used the below:
    submit options -
    sharepoint document library
Data connection - Sharepoint Library Submit
    Doc library - lib location
    File name: concat("User Info - ", ResourceName, "-", PersonalID)
Allow overwrite if file exists is checked.
When I try to save a record, I am getting a popup:
    Save As:
You can only save this file to the current site
    File Name: textbox
    save location: doc lib.
    save, cancel buttons.
How to override this save as option(save as option should not be shown to user), and save the file using the file name mentioned?
    Thanks

Are you clicking "Save" when you're using the form or "Submit"??
You should be using "Submit" and it will ... submit your form to the document library with the file name you specified.
To disable the "Save" button, click on "File" then "Form Options". Under the "Filler Features" area you can uncheck the box beside "Save and Save As". Click OK then re-publish your form.

  • User can only save files to desktop.

    Hello,
We recently purchased/deployed a MacPro workstation w/Snow Leopard v10.6.8 to a member of our Marketing Dept. The server is bound to our Active Directory domain and the domain user account has local admin rights.
We copied files over from another Mac. However, this user can only save to his desktop and not directly to other folders on the HDD. He can copy files from the desktop to other folders, but is prompted for admin credentials each time.

Are you using the YouTube widget in iWeb?  If so it doesn't work any more. Not since MobileMe was discontinued.
You need to get the full embed code from YouTube and use the standard HTML snippet.

  • TURBOTAX 2014 CD DOES NOT PERMIT OFFLINE PRINT OR SAVE TO PDF.  YOU CAN ONLY SAVE TO PDF OR PRINT IF ONLINE.  BIG SECURITY ISSUE.  INTUIT IN WSJ ARTICLE BLAMES APPLE, SAYING APP STORE SOFTWARE RESULTED IN THIS.  TRUE?

Starting this year, Turbotax CD/download versions will not permit people to print tax forms when offline. If you try to print while not connected to the Internet, you receive the warning “There was a problem connecting to Intuit’s Secure Print Service.  Please check your Internet connection or try again later.”  Indeed, Paragraph 9 of the Intuit Software End User License Agreement states:  "You may save your return as a PDF file and understand it may be processed on Intuit servers, not as part of the Software."
Even if you wish to protect your data by not exposing it to the Internet, Turbotax will not let you without sharing your entire return first with them.  They prohibit you from only printing locally on home, cable-connected printers.
The result of this is that people who tried to be safe by never going online with tax data, are this year being forced by Intuit software to expose all their sensitive tax information files to the Internet and Intuit print server, even though they do not wish to. Turbotax is putting you at risk.
On Feb 19 the Wall Street Journal quoted an Intuit spokesperson blaming Apple:  According to Julie Miller, an Intuit spokeswoman, TurboTax made the change “because the Mac product requires a special, third-party code library to support offline printing.” And she says, “based on Apple App Store guidelines, we could no longer distribute the third-party library with our software.”   She said the change in the TurboTax Mac software was first made for 2013 tax returns, but last year customers had the option of printing returns without being connected to the Internet.
So is Apple to blame that I now have to expose my sensitive tax data to Intuit just to be allowed to save to PDF on my hard disk?  And it's all Apple's fault?
    Can anyone clarify this?

Thank you for this an the other posts.  Particularly for Barney,
I have just discovered that Turbotax actually permits you to print (and save to PDF) documents from the Help
Center built into the program, even when you are OFFLINE.  Works just like normal printing is supposed to.  It just won't let you print actual tax forms. So I guess they were willing to violate Apple’s rules when you print information from their help center offline, but you just can't do the same with your own tax forms.  Clearly this shows that what Intuit told Forbes was a fabrication.
They do in fact have the proper code in the program for printing and saving to PDF.  They just deny you usage of that code for printing your tax returns, which they want to copy.  I don’t think there can be any doubt about what they are doing.  Surely they are not deceiving apple by allowing the limited print function?
We can only hope that a brave journalist will challenge them on this, since Intuit will not respond to customers.
Thank you for any views on this points.

  • [SOLVED] GIMP can only save XCF. bzip, gzip.

Hi all. I had used GIMP 2.6 before -Syu, then it installed GIMP 2.8. After this upgrade, i can't save files to PNG, JPG, etc... (XCF, bzip, gzip only). The strange thing is that GIMP still can open PNG and other files, but it can't save. What can be the problem? The only thing terminal says when i start GIMP:
    Gimp-Widgets-CRITICAL **: gimp_device_info_set_device: assertion `(info->device == NULL && GDK_IS_DEVICE (device)) || (GDK_IS_DEVICE (info->device) && device == NULL)' failed
Is there any way to solve this problem?

drankinatty wrote:While exporting isn't difficult, it interjects unnecessary intermediate steps that discards all flexibility originally built into the open/save dialog - developed over many years with user input. If you only need to save as a jpeg or png, after exporting, you are left with an unwanted 'untitled' image that remains on the screen that you must kill after you are done.
The other side of the coin is that separating export/save can help reduce the chance that a user might destroy their source XCF by saving as a PNG and then exiting GIMP. It isn't something that has caused me a great deal of grief, but it's a welcome change. Yes, it's awkward and introduces another step, but it's a feature I can grow to appreciate.
That said, there are things I don't like about 2.8 mostly related to window behavioral changes that make previous use cases somewhat difficult, but IIRC, at least one of the issues I encountered was a known but relatively minor bug. I've been holding off on updating from 2.6 until it's fixed (horray for custom PKGBUILDs!), but I'm pretty confident that 2.8 will be much welcomed once they iron out a few more issues. There are a few improvements I really like.

Any ideas on how to save a download to a document folder?  I have tried to "save as" and "move to" documents from the desktop, but the same message appears. Please help!

Yes! Your question prompted me to explore the Finder...I can move folders and files around to place docs where I want them to be.  Thank you so very much! Is this the only way to move downloads to documents?

  • Quick launch links to documents, can only save the document once

    Hi,
We have a problem in SharePoint 2007.
We have some links to documents in the quick launch menu. First, these were opened as read-only per default.
This was fixed by adding file:// instead of the http://
Now we can save the document/excel/... once, but when clicking save a second time, office gives a non-informative error: 'The document was not saved.' with a link 'Was this information helpful?'. So it doesn't save either. This is verified, because when
I close the document after this, it asks to 'save as' to another location.
This is tested with a bunch of accounts, also DC admin accounts, which have full control over sharepoint.
When opening the documents in the library, there is no problem. It's only the links in the quick launch that don't respond as required.
Hope someone has a workaround for this.
    Kind regards,
    Inkendaal

Just use again the http:// hyperlink and reconfigure the browser settings correct!
File links are not made for use with SharePoint even the file links are not 100% supported in a web browser...

  • Can only 'Save As..." Secured LiveCycle form after already "Saving As..."

Hi Everyone, I have come up empty on a solution to my issue.
    • I have a form created in LiveCycle, and it is set up with a document edit password, to prevent editing in LiveCycle Designer. (Printing Allowed: High Resolution and Changes Allowed: Any except extracting pages)
    • The form has been reader extended.
    Problem:
    • When filling the form in Adobe Reader, the form must be "Saved As...". I've been testing and if I open the original secured form in Reader, and fill it out and click 'Save', I get the 'Save As..' dialogue box to name my file, etc. and save.
    • If I close and reopen the document I just saved with the new name, and make some changes to any of the fields and click 'Save', the 'Save As...' dialogue box pops up again.
    • Users should be able to just Click 'Save' to overwrite the file.
    • This 'problem behaviour' does not occur in Acrobat. Just Reader.
    • This 'problem behaviour' goes away if I remove the document Edit password. (which I don't want to do)
So the issue isn't that the form can't be saved - It's that that user get's the 'Save As..' dialogue box every time they make a change to a document they've already saved, to their desktop for example on a form secured with a LiveCycle document edit password.
Any help you can provide is appreciated. Thank you!!
    B.

truyst me - it takes something a bit more closer to home to
hurt my feelings - if my emotions were
damaged then i simply am taking flash software way to
seriously and would have to reconsider my life
as a whole - so no, my feeling weren't hurt - not sure how
you derived that from my last post - i
was merely explaining what a true "bug" actually is.

Well, I personally have experienced issues with several
different apps way back in the day while
working/saving to a network - sure, perhaps adobe will
include support for network failure in flash
    - but unless they hear it from users, they won't feel the
need - which is why i provided info to the
feedback and feature request form on adobe's site:

for whatever reason i get the sense you are reacting in a
passive agressive way to my reply - not
sure why - i'm only here trying to help.

  • Can't open a file, can only save or cancel

When I click on a link for a file, like an mp3, rdp, etc. the only options I get are save or cancel.  For example, if I try to connect to a windows azure virtual machine I have to download the RDP file - I can't just click open.  Is this an IE11
issue?  Is it a group policy setting?  Is this something I can fix/change?  Can I have my IT department change something?  This is really frustrating.  Any thoughts are appreciated.
    I am running Windows 8.1 and IE11

You may have a corrupted Download History list. You can fix this by simply clearing the list using the built in functionality listed below:
    Open Internet Explorer
Press Ctrl + Shift + Del on your keyboard
Uncheck all of the boxes that are displayed in this window
    Check the Download History box
    Click Delete
    Close the Internet Explorer window
Wait for the deletion process to finish
    Open Internet Explorer

  • I can't copy/save pictures of items on ebay. I can only save the web page. I can copy/save with IE. Why?

On items listed on ebay, you can click on a picture to enlarge it. With IE I can save the picture to my computer. Firefox only allows me to save the web page. What can I do to save pictures - .jpg or .bmp?
The same problem happens if the seller includes pictures in the text description.

Now I cannot create a screenshot because the massage doesn't appear anymore.
I was told that this is not my problem only. Is it the recent update that broke somethng? I've all the accounts configured correctly, MT just doesn't send or download messages.
I tried to remove one of my accounts to re-set it, but when I tried to configure it once again Mozilla rejects it claiming the password is wrong. I triple checked, it's correct.
