Can Oracle Tuxedo repalce IBM mq connectivity from mainframe
Hi all,
I am new to Oracle Tuxedo i have some basic question we are facing some issues with the IBM MQ with mainframe .
Can we repalce IBM MQ and can we use oracle tuxedo . How end systems that are connecting to MQ will connect to Tuxedo did they use JMS?
Thanks
Phani
Hi Phani,
You don't need to use JMS to use Tuxedo's /Q facility. It is an option if you already are using JMS.
Any system that supports Tuxedo client install can access Tuxedo /Q queues. On the mainframe this could be done with the zLinux version of Tuxedo. Other systems such as AIX, Linux, Windows, etc., also have client kits that can enqueue and dequeue messages from Tuxedo /Q.
The WebLogic Tuxedo connector can:
1) take messages from a JMS queue and place them on a Tuxedo /Q queue
2) take messages from a Tuxedo /Q queue and place them on a JMS queue
3) take message from a JMS queue and directly call a Tuxedo service with that message
The performance of /Q is good, although how good depends upon the quality of service chosen. /Q supports both persistent (disk based) and transient (memory based) queues, and it also supports XA so /Q queues can be part of a distributed transaction (syncpoint in mainframe terminology.)
zLinux is not a widely used Tuxedo platform. However Tuxedo /Q is used quite a bit in projects where customers are moving their mainframe applications off of the mainframe and onto Tuxedo due to cost and performance concerns. Many customers headed down this path use our Application Runtime for Tuxedo (ART) which besides supporting the rehosting of CICS applications, also provides a JES-2 like batch subsystem that heavily uses /Q.
I believe you are currently doing:
non-mainframe MQ Series mainframe
application using MQ <====> Queue <=====> application using
API (MQI) Manager MQ API
What I'm suggesting is:
non-mainframe Tuxedo mainframe application
application using Tuxedo <====> /Q Queue <=====> using Tuxedo API
API to access /Q Manager to access /Q
Although the more common scenario when dealing with mainframes is to use the Tuxedo Mainframe Adapter (TMA). TMA provides a bi-directional transactional gateway between mainframe applications and Tuxedo applications. Using TMA, CICS applications see Tuxedo services as DPL or APPC based transactions, and Tuxedo sees CICS transactions as Tuxedo services. Thus a Tuxedo service (or client) can directly invoke a CICS transaction in exactly the same manner that it invokes another Tuxedo service. The service/client is unaware that the provider of the service invoked is actually some transaction running on CICS. Likewise a CICS application simply uses DPL or APPC to invoke a remote transaction, and that transaction actually ends up being a Tuxedo service running somewhere on Tuxedo. If using the SNA version of the gateway, one can use syncpoint level 2 for guaranteed integrity of updates made both on CICS and Tuxedo.

Can Oracle 7i and 8i be connected from Oracle 9i database
I want to know if i can do the following. That means is it possible in production scenario. If yes then how and will it affect the performance to a great extend.
We are now upgrading the application server to weblogic 10.3 . But this server supports only Oracle 9i and above. But we have two more data server which are Oracle 8i and Oracle 7i. These databases will be upgraded later on but not now. So the problem is i can not connect to these Oracle database versions if i use Weblogic 10.3. So i wanted to know if there is any possibility of connecting the application server to a intermideate Oracle 9i database which will act as a bridge from Application server to Oracle 7i and 8i. Can Oracle 9i connect to Oracle 7i and 8i. If yes then how. You can provide me online references if any.
Thanks in advance. Waiting for your reply.manoj.tcs wrote:
The connection what you are refering is from a normal pc to Oracle 7i or 8i database. But i want to connect from Oracle 9i to Oracle 8iWhen connecting from one db to another (via a db_link) the 'calling' db is just another client to the 'called' db. if you can connect to 7.x (there was no 7i) with a 9.x sqlplus, then you should be able to connect with a 9.x database. At a previous job, we did something similar to get an app compiled against 8.1 to use a 10.2 database - set up a 9.2 intermediary that had nothing but db_links and synonyms pointing on to the 10g.
However, I wouldn't bet the company on making your scenario work. You really should upgrade your databases first. -

ngsankarPLEASE .... Ask in an Oracle Java forum.
And read the documentaiton. There is a whole document devoted to doing that. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/java.102/b14355/toc.htm has examples.
PLEASE ... do not ask product questions in a forum which clearly has a title saying it is devoted to assisting with download problems. -

paragFirst of all: using the word 'urgently' is inappropriate and rude in a forum of volunteers.
Edit your post and apologize publicly for using it.
Secondly your question is a rhetorical one, as it's answer is:
OF COURSE NOT

Remote tuxedo domain rejects connection from client only Tuxedo JCA Adapter
I am trying to use a client only configured Oracle Tuxedo JCA Adapter 11.1.1.2.1 to connect to a remote tuxedo 10.3 domain. The connector is deployed to a JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 embedded OC4J container. The connector is failing silently when attempting to establish a connection with the remote domain. Locally, the JCA Adapter ntrace logs the following:

My understanding is that the client only configuration should connect to a remote tuxedo domain as an anonymous client instead of a peer tuxedo domain, but the remote tuxedo gateway domain listener is acting like the client has to be configured in its dmconfig file before it will allow the connection request. Is there a different kind of listener the client only configuration should connect to instead of the tuxedo gateway domain listener? How can a remote tuxedo domain accept a connection from an anonymous client if the client must first be specified in the remote domain's dmconfig file? Is this a tuxedo 11g only feature? I'm trying to connect to a tuxedo 10.3 server.

SteveLooks like this is an RTFM question. From:
Is the following:
Dynamic RemoteAccessPoint (RAP) Insertion
In order to make default LocalAccessPoint to work, Oracle Tuxedo GWTDOMAIN gateway configuration is required in order to make this simplified /Domain configuration to work.
GWTDOMAIN gateway must be modified to allow Dynamic RemoteAccessPoint (RAP) Registration. If DYNAMIC_RAP is set to YES, it will also update the in-memory database of the status of the connection from those dynamically registered RAP. If the connection from those dynamically registered RAP lost then the information about that RAP will be removed from the SHM database.
GWADM must be modified to process the DM MIB correctly to reflect the connection status of those dynamically registered RAP. When the connection from those dynamically registered RAP lost their entries in the SHM database will also be removed so that the DM MIB query can return the connection status correctly.
The dynamically registered RAP will be added to /DOMAIN configuration permanently. Their existence will only be known when the Session is established. Their existence will be lost when the connection is lost.
The DM_CONNECTION Oracle Tuxedo /Domain DMIB call returns all the connected dynamically registered RemoteAccessPoint. All other dynamically registered RemoteAccessPoint that are not connected will not be shown.
The OPENCONNECTION DMIB request will not be supported to connect to those dynamically registered RAP.
The CLOSECONNECTION Oracle Tuxedo /DMIB request closes the connection and remove the session from those dynamically registered RemoteAccessPoint, and returns its connection status as 'UNKNOWN.
The PERSISTENT_DISCONNECT type of CONNECTION_POLICY will be honored that means when PERSISTENT_DISCONNECT is in effect all connections request from any RAP, whether they are dynamically or non-dynamically registered, will be rejected.
I must have overlooked this section when reading it. Looks like I've got more configuration to do.
Thanks,
Steve -

ORACLE TUXEDO compatibility/coexistance question
Our existing PeopleSoft environment in
UNIX AIX 6.1
PS HRMS Tools 8.5 Application 9.1
PS Finance Tools 8.51 Application 9.1
We are preparing to upgrade only HRMS,
PS HRMS Tools 8.5 Application 9.1to PS
HCM Tools 8.54 Application 9.2
Question –
1. Will new ORACLE TUXEDO 12cR1 (12.1.1.0) work with PS Finance Tools 8.51
2. Can Oracle Tuxedo, Version (10.3.0.0, 64-bit, Patch Level 081- for PS Fin) coexist with ORACLE TUXEDO 12cR1 (12.1.1.0,64 bits)?Hi,
For the PeopleSoft and Tuxedo 12cR1 question you will need to check with the PeopleSoft team as I don't know their version dependencies.
When you ask can Tuxedo 10 and 12 coexist, the answer is yes, although I'm not exactly what you mean by co-exist. They can be in the same MP domain, or in separate domains connected via the domain gateway. If they are in the same domain, then the MASTER machine needs to be the one running the later version of Tuxedo.

Cannot send email via ActiveSync when user connect from Internet (Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5)
Hi All.
This is the first time I encounter this kind of issue, whenever user connect from the internet they cannot send email from their Phone or Windows Mail App, but they can retrieve email
But when they connect from Internal Network they can send email. I already test ActiveSync from internet using www.testexchangeconnectivity.com and it pass all tests.
I also check the Firewall and all the necessary ports already opened (we even open all ports) , the default TTL on the firewall 3600 second.
From what I read ActiveSync use some kind of HTTP POST or in MS terminology "PING" command, but still have no idea what kind of configuration that should be made to the Firewall so it can pass this "PING" command. Because from what I
see in Android Logcat the problem always related to this PING command

Returning 250 rows with 1000 Values in "IN" Clause Oracle 10g On IBM AIX !!
Hi,
Recently we have done the OS migration of Oracle 10g Server from Windows Server to IBM AIX. Everything is fine, But today we came across one crucial bug in the code, i.e In the Select Query, though we're expecting 1000 rows with 1000 values in "IN" Clause , It's returning Only 250 rows. Where as it's returning 1000 rows in Windows Environment with 1000 values in "IN" Clause. I have browsed throgh Google for the resolution but failed to get that.
This is something like,
In Oracle 10g On windows :-
select * from emp
where dept_id in (1,2,3,...................1000);
Assuming there are the dept_id values in Emp table from 1 ... 1000, It's returning 1000 rows.
In Oracle 10g On IBM AIX ,
select * from emp
where dept_id in (1,2,3,...................1000);
Assuming there are the dept_id values in Emp table from 1 ... 1000, It's returning 250 rows. Pls help me, what could be the reason for this. and what needs to be checked to fix this.
Pls suggest !!!
Rajammmh. Did you compared the select count(*) from your_table; in the two cases.
If the result is not good and nobody has deleted rows between migration and your test, you migration need to be replayed.
Which migration did you select, Transportable database or exp/imp...?

I have looked up the errors on Oracle forums and could not get any valuable help anywhere.
Can someone kindly help out where I am going wrong?
Thanks,
Ram.Hello kgronau,
Thank You very much for your recommendations. I removed the parameter HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 255.
I added HS_FDS_FETCH_ROWS=1 and also HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
Tested my sql statement, which yielded the result as follows:
SQL> select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
㈵″㠵6
SO I thought I would give a try of removing the line HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
and again tested my sql statement and it worked like a charm!!!!
I tested a count(*) and got the results back.
SQL> select count(*) from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
COUNT(*)
600
I really appreciate your valuable pointers and help.
Thanks once again!!!

Help with Oracle 10g Client Connectivity from Linux to IBM SAN storage
Hello Oracle Experts,
This is my first post. My client is having oracle 10g database up and running in IBM SAN storage.
We have some NMS tools running in Red Hat Linux version 5. So, these tools require connectivity to Oracle database which is residing in SAN storage connected with the Fibre cables.
How do I establish the connectivity from Linux to SAN storage. If would be glad if you can explain me the steps and also if there is any pre-installation/post-installation, patches and procedures involved.
If it is IP based network we normally give the IP address of the host running the database server. I have no idea about SAN storage connected with Fibre cable.
Please guide me to establish the connectivity from linux 5 to SAN.
Thanks.
Regards,
RaviShankar.user13153556 wrote:
Hi Rajesh,
Actually I will not be touching the Oracle instance SAN box directly. I will only access the database from another machine. I my case it is Linux box.
So, my question is how do you make the Oracle Client in Linux box to connect to Oracle instance running in another non ip based machine SAN storage.Install Oracle client on this Linux machine ..
Make sure you have network connectivity from linux machine to database server. You need to connect to server where db instance is running and you need not to bother about SAN storage.
make tns entry into client $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora file.
Use sqlplus to connect to database using client.
