Can size of images in .fla file be edited?

The home page of our site (http://checkoutacollege.com/) uses Flash animation that was created by an agency outside of our organization. We are undergoing a site redesign and are interested in giving our Flash characters less real estate, so I am trying to determine if it is possible to make the characters smaller.  I thought I might be able to do that with the height/width attribute of the object tag in the html, but I guess that would have been too easy.  I know zip about Flash but do have CS3 at my disposal.  Is there a way within the .fla file to make the animation smaller?
Thank you for any advice.

then use as3.
create a new fla with publish settings that use as3 and with stage size the dimensions you want.  then use:
var ldr:Loader = new Loader()
var urlR:URLRequest("yourpreviousswf.swf");  // change this
ldr.contentLoaderInfo(Event.COMPLETE,loadcompleteF);
ldr.load(urlR);
function loadcompleteF(e:Event){
ldr.width=stage.stageWidth;
ldr.height=stage.stageHeidht;
addChild(ldr);
// if you need to anti-alias the loaded swf, more coding will be needed.

  • (How can we) Import Flash Professional .FLA file format?

    How can we import a Flash Professional .fla file format into Flash Catalyst? It would appear that we can't...at least not yet! I have added this as a feature request within the adobe labs site for Catalyst. Someone at Adobe suggested that I also explore the forums, so here we are. If you would also like to have this feature added, please let Adobe know by promoting the
    idea.
    Our use case is this: we have a large Flash file with a library of over one thousand skins and assets that were built in Flash with Adobe's Flex Skins Templates. These stateful, graphical skins were used within a custom theme by several Flex 3 projects.
    Now that we are looking to migrate to FlashBuilder 4, and start to use Spark components, we are trying to find a workflow that allows us to use Adobe tools and to reuse our existing vector artwork. Since we have such a large number of assets, we are exploring various approaches, including the use of JSFL. So far we haven't found a good way to migrate from Flash-built skins for Flex 3 to Catalyst-built skins for FlashBuilder 4.

    Hi Ajay,
    See attached V 7.0 example...
    Hope it helps,

  • How to Change Images in fla file

    I have Macromedia Flash MX 2004.  I need to change the images in an fla file for inclusion in a new Web site.  I have inherited an fla file and am just learning the in-and-outs of using Flash.  I have been trying to figure out/learn what to do.  But I am now under a deadline.
    How to I replace the old images with new ones?   Thanks, Betsy

    As you have noticed on the timeline, there are 4 keyframes (black dots connected by a long arrow to the next dot) for each of the image tweens on different layers. Just select the 1st or 2nd keyframe of each layer, you will notice that it will select the image (blue rectangle around it), then double click it to get into the MovieClip's content (the bitmap image). You will see the MovieClip's timeline which is only one frame. Select and delete the Bitmap then drag the new Bitmap into it. Then position it and double click outside the stage to return to the root timeline. Do this for each of the layers and you are done. It is really that simple

  • Can I convert a Flash .fla file to html in Photoshop CS6?

    My website is done in Flash and that might as well be ancient Greek in today's world.
    Can Photoshop CS6 do anything to/with an old Flash FLA file?

    No. Flash requires Flash, regardless of which target format.

  • How can I use images from Jar files

    Hi,
    I would like to use the images provided by ADF if any on my UI like pencil Icon for Edit, pushpin for freeze and so on.
    How can I refer them in Image source. Custom images I have stored in my pubilc_html directory and using them.
    Do I need to unzip that to my project public_html directory ?
    Thanks,
    Satya

    Hi Satya,
    you can reference those images via the ADF resources servlet once you know the correct URL to an image.
    For example, in 10g the pencil icon is called lovi.gif, so its full URL will be
    http://host:port/context-root/adf/images/oracle/lovi.gifand you can use it in an af:objectImage like
    <af:objectImage source="/adf/images/oracle/lovi.gif" />Hope this helps,

  • Is there a way to keep images as RAW files when editing with Photo Shop ???

    The drawback I find with aperture is that when using photoshop as editor I cannot keep my raw files. They are converted to TIFFS...Is there a way that I can keep them in Raw????? Thanks!!

    Your original RAW files are still there in your Aperture library in your pictures folder. Or on an external hard drive if you are referencing them.... They are never touched, you are editing a 'version' of your original RAW file.
    When you export to PS Aperture creates a new 'version' of the original and exports that to PS. The file format that it returns to Aperture as, from PS, is controlled by you in Aperture preferences... > Export Tab > External Editor file format....
    You can have your pictures in the format you choose. But your original RAW's are untouched.

  • Can't see images under Photoshop CS6 file icons.

    I have installed PS CS6 and updated it to 7.2.  I can see my images under Bridge file icons, but under PS file icons, the images are generic.  What do I need to do in Photoshop?  What does Bridge have that PS does not?

    Bill Hunt wrote:

    Can you elaborate on this statement a bit, please?...
    He means he installed Photoshop and updated the ACR plug-in to version 7.2.
    What he neglects to say is whether he updated Photoshop itself to version 13.0.1.

  • Fla file format license

    Hi all Flash Gurus
    I need advice from you about license of fla file format.
    =========================
    Background:
    we intend to develop standalone flash application with nearly
    same fearture as FLASH CS. Our application can save as (output) fla
    file also.
    Basic features are insert text,images into fla file, edit
    these text/images then output edited content to swf file.
    ===========================
    So my question is:
    If we sell this app to end-user, do we violate the fla file
    license of Adobe?
    AFAIK, fla file is property of Adobe and it can not be edited
    in other app.
    If yes, could you point me to weblink of Abode fla file
    license or something like that?
    Please help me, I need your help.
    Best regards,

    gghfh,
    > But could you please be more specific. This meaned we
    > cannot develop this app?
    You're asking your question in the wrong place. These forums
    are
    attended by volunteers who do not represent or work for
    Adobe. We're just
    developers and designers who happen to use Flash.
    > And whereis weblink to fla file license? Because I need
    > evidence.
    As NedWebs said (and I agree), your best bet is to contact
    Adobe
    directly. Adobe is the most appropriate party to answer your
    question.
    Would you rather trust guesses from people who don't work for
    Adobe, or
    would you rather trust direct input from the company who
    develops Flash? ;)

  • How to really edit source in .fla file?

    Hello,
       I am a Java programmer and I can read and edit most anything I get my hands on. I don't work much with flash and when  I do there is no reason to look at any sort of source.
       I received a file from someone to add to a project and the instructions were to open the .fla in CS5 and edit certain lines to pioint to directories . The file is and interactive app type.
       I have tried doing this but I am at a loss. I had thought that I would just be able to view some source in the file and edit those lines and export the ,swf, but I can see nothing like that. I see all these visual button tools that don't help me any.
       Can someone tell me how I can actually see source for the file to edit the content I need to?
    Thanks!

    Flash programming language(AS3) is similar to Java. So once you get familiar with Flash Pro IDE you should get going easily. So before proceeding any further I will suggest you to read followings:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WSd60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7fb9a.html
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WSd60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7f13a.html
    This should get you started, then move on to following and explore in detail as and when you have time:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/index.html
    To answer your query you can edit the source by using Action Script editor which can be directly opened by pressing F9. Action Script code can also be directly written to seperate .as file instead of .fla in which case you open the .as file if the editor panel is not open press F9.

  • Flash CS5 Crashing when opening a specific .fla file

    I just upgraded from Flash Professional CS4 to CS5.  Everything seemed to be working fine. After upgrading, I started working on a project I had been creating in CS4 on the new CS5.  The file opened originally and I worked on it in the new CS5.  My swf works and the video plays.  All of the external swf files I load in to the Index swf work great.  They were created in the new CS5.  I can open the external swf, .fla files without any problem.  But when I open the one Index file that was created in CS4, Flash CS5 crashes saying there was an unexpected error. I have uninstalled and installed flash several times.  I have tried deleting the com.adobe.flash.plist file and restarting.  Nothing has worked.  I am really afraid I'm going to lose this file and all the work put in to it.  Can anyone help me with some ideas to troubleshoot this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    You're still using 12.0.0, and the current version is 12.0.2.
    That looks like a font related crash fixed a while back.

  • Having trouble opening .fla files in Flash MX

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me?
    I'm using Flash MX, and when I get sent .fla files to edit I
    get a "Unexpected file format" error or a "An unknow error has
    occured while accessing ..<location of file.fla>"
    Is this because I'm trying to edit/open .fla files that
    aren't compatible with Flash MX?? Why is this the case?
    If someone could shed some light on this that would be great
    as all .fla's recently have been causging me problems.
    Cheers.

    sound like you try to opne flashMX2004 or flash8 foles in MX.
    that wount work. An upgrade would help, or asking your source for
    those flas to save then in MX format - which is not possible in
    Flash 8 though.

  • CS5, corrupted .fla file

    I recently got Flash CS5 a couple days ago. I moved a large .fla file that I'd been working on in Flash 8 into CS5 yesterday and I've been working smoothly with it since then. (I converted it to CS5 format of course)
    Suddenly, today, CS5 crashed when I tried to copy/paste a symbol into another file's library. The file I had been working in is now corrupted, since CS5 crashes every time I try to open that file.
    I have been working with flash (Flash 8 professional) for four years, and I have never once experienced anything like this. Crashes, sure - but flash8 never corrupted an fla file. Four years, no problems. Two days with CS5 and all of my work in the program is down the drain.
    This is very frustrating. Is there anything I can do to save my .fla file, or is this something that I just have to learn to work around?
    Thank you for help/suggestions.

    If you have any kind of backup arranged for your machine, see about restoring the file.  If you don't have any kind of backup, then for the future make it a practice to save older versions as backup on a somewhat regular basis.
    When you start editing files try to make it a habit to save new copies rather than sacving over older files.
    When you have files that involve customers, value, or extensive effort, you should keep multiple copies on different media/storage devices.  Every so often I save files and whatnot to dvd data disks.
    As far as recovering the file that keeps crashing, try entering some terms like "restore corrupted file" in the top of the forum where it says Ask a Question and see if any results come up that lead to some help.  I remember someone recently talking about renaming files or some such thing and opening them, though you'd need to find it to try it properly.

  • Originals lost - anyway to extract the Lightroom images as working files

    I work on a Mac, OS 10.4.11
    Somehow, I must have unknowingly complettely deleted the Canon 5D .CR2 RAW images from a very important job before I backed them up, as the original files have completely disappeared from my computer.
    However, those images still appear in Lightroom, but since the originals cannot be found, the Lightroom screen images cannot be opened in Photoshop.
    However, I can go into the develop mode, pull up one of the Lightroom images and zoom in to 1:1 and there is enough information in what I see that if I could somehow extract this image from Lightroom into a workable file, such as tif or jpg or anything that Photoshop can recognize, I could still save myself to a degree. I can never restore the full information of the original files, but I could produce files that my client could make use of, so long as the blowups were not too drastic, and they would certainly be adequate for Power Point presentations. I see enough information in the Lightroom images that I know I could do something even for print, particularly with interpolation software, if only I can extract those images as workable files.
    Does anybody have a solution?
    Thank you
    PS: I have done a thorough data recovery search using Data Rescue II and I found all kinds of deleted images, but not the ones I need.

    Close LR.
    On your harddrive, next to your LR catalog file, you will have a package named: "XXXXX Previews.lrdata"
    (The XXXXX is whatever you have named your LR catalog file to, if your catalog is named "Lightroom.lrcat" your previews package will be named "Lightroom Previews.lrdata".'
    Take a copy of this file to make sure you don't mess it up.
    (Or don't, but don't blame me if you mess it up ;-)
    Right click on the package and choose "Show Package Content".
    Now you get access to LR previews.
    You can navigate down the folder structure to find files named like "3A0D27C0-AA5A-11DB-B0C5-00112488B2E4-514d8ee17112aeee3852fda5392a8ee8-10.lr-preview.noin dex"
    Each of these files can contain a number of jpeg previews.
    Drag any of this files onto filejuicer to extract the previews.
    Or drag the entire preview package onto filejuicer an it will extract all previews.
    It might require a lot of diskspace though.
    How do you find the particular previews that belongs to the images you have lost?
    I really don't know
    /Andreas
